Sprint Hotspot Evo3D - HTC EVO 3D

Just fired this up on the evo3d and Im curious if this is free? Seems too good to be true.

Not free. wait for root or something, if u want "free" tethering

Sorry to say it isn't free, and on the contrary its quite pricey. There are other alternatives to 'tether' for free without root but they require a USB connection as far as I'm aware. Try Easy Tether Lite or Pda Net, both are free and on the Android Market.

Pdanet works fine. Have to install it on ur pc and phone

ah, ok guys. I guess it's a bit deceiving to have the app on the phone then be charged 30bucks.

[Q] Sprint Total Protection App?

Anyone have this app or use it? Does the GPS location thing always need to be turned on? Does it waste battery?
Search for an app called lookout on the android marketplace, your welcome

I just installed Android Lost. It's free and it's great. It lets you do a lot of stuff, like make your phone sound a police siren in case you lost it somewhere in your house, lock the phone, give you the GPS coordinates, and take pictures and send it to your email, all from the web interface. It doesn't use any battery life either.
sounds good
Thanks. I may have to try one of these because the Total Protection app apparently cannot find my phones location worth a damn. Which location/security app uses the least battery?

Lookout

I don't find the total equipment protection app to impact my battery at all, but I'll definitely give lookout a shot

Wow, this is one badass app. I would have to say it is by far one of the best apps I have seen.

My battery meter shows AndroidLost as using no battery, just as they claim.
Android lost is neat. Thanks for that.
I just wonder how secure the android lost site is

Yeah, that's my only concern. Lookout is for sure reputable (been around longer, been recommended more, been on the news for Pete's sake lol) and the free version has all the features you really need, while the paid version adds remote lock and remote wipe capabilities

I'm pretty sure the site should be OK since it authenticates with Google before you can use it.

Phone Locator

Does anyone know of a good app that can locate our phone similar to "Where's my Droid" that doesn't require root?
There is the NetQuin antivirus app which has a function that let u locate ur phone if its lost but i think its a paid app I never tried it
Cerberus..... I don't think you need root for this to work

Thanks for the info! Got a buddy with a Verizon phone and he fell in love with where's my Droid, but didn't like the idea of me rooting his phone.

Xfinity Player for Comcast

Those that have Comcast might want to check out this app. Comcast actually released a decent app.

Lol I hope, with what my parents pay we could use some sweet stuff.
The app does not work on my phone. It gets stuck at "Verifying application integrity". I'm running RezRom S4.
I'm just wondering why the app requests root permissions. Good app though.

I suspect that asking for root is a security check. Content providers are very twitchy about this on demand from anywhere stuff. I denied it. No reason for it to have root except to see if it's there.
Do u know if this is supposed to replace the old xfinity app? Cuz that one was laggy as fux.. and it only changes my channels when it wants too

I denied it too. Hadn't thought they might just be checking to see who is rooted. Interesting...

Is there a way you can stop the app from checking what subscriptions you're paying for. I just have internet and directv streaming is a bit behind xfinity.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
So you don't want to pay for cable but you want to get the content for free?
No.
The DirecTV app is still on beta mode and its who I have my "cable" subscriptions with. I was able to watch a show yesterday on xfinity and the hd quality is excellent compare to the DirecTV app at this time. Just wondering if it was possible

There's a reason why you have to sign up for satellite on contract, and it isn't because of how awesome it is. Comcast has contracts now, but they are optional and mainly a way to lock in rates and get something free.
everyone i've ever known who signed a contract with a sat company has regretted it. they make you pay for everything, too.
Missing the download link to xfinity player

Have you guys heard of lazydroid?

I just found this app called Lazydroid (I'm not the developer, so I'm not promoting anything), and this app is super awesome. It's only $4 bucks and it pretty much turns your phone into a web desktop client. it gives you an ip address, type it into your browser and you have a windows like interface complete with remote control, remote sms, and remotely controlling your files with drag and drop interface. Very similar to FileExpert, but more features.
Thought I would share, it helps if you have rooted phone for the remote control.:good:
I give it a good 4 out of 5 stars, I only had less then an hour to play with it, so I don't know it's full potential.
Oh also, it has a remote terminal too
You may like airdroid as well, a lil more user friendly and is free.

SAME! I love the interface, but it doesn't seem to have remote controlling. Not a huge issue, but still a great tool.
interesting app. I tried airdroid, then tried lazydroid. I do like airdroid better. refunded lazy and I'm sticking with airdroid. Thanks!

Wow this app is amazing. Shocked I've never heard anything about this before. Spring cleaning of the phone during summer.
Webroot is not as pretty but has way more functionality.
AirDroid is cool, thanks for the lazydroid info!
WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?!
You mean to tell me I have been wasting energy getting up to grab my phone when I could have been lazy?!?!?! I HATE WASTING ENERGY!!!! LOL
This is an awesome app. Def trying this out when I get home.

Has anyone tried an Android Mirroring cable?

Saw this video about android mirroring but wasn't too sure if it is useful. This cable will be going on sale today but I have not heard of anyone using a cable like this.

I guess one of the benefits would be to hook your phone up to it at work and pretend to be working on the computer while you are actually texting or playing poker. I dunno.
i used to be able to do something similar over bluetooth or wifi a few years back, but i have yet to find the program i used, and i will assume you would need to be rooted. its a cool idea in many ways, but its use i feel is more of a cool or sneaky factor.
Yeah, I am hard pressed to find a really good reason to buy one. Being cool is a good reason though.

The root method your probably thinking of is called screen casting using droid explorer. Pretty useful if you work in a strict office environment.
