Hard Bricked help. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was flashing my vibrant and accidentally pulled the USB during the flash. I could not get into download mode so I bought the USB dongle that puts it in dl mode and it worked. Flashed the wrong stock rom which was for the international version. It worked great other than no internet so I went in recovery to root it. Got stuck in recovery due to not being able to select anything since I had no home button. Downloaded the j16 rom and flashed with Odin. Went to reinstall packages, phone turned off when I hit reboot and never came back on. No download mode even with USB jumper and not even the charging icon, nothing. Help please. I have since bought the Samaung Focus which I like but would love my vibrant back too. Thanks.

[Q] Help is such a nasty term, but some assistance is required

Hello devs/deviants/xda members.
I hate for this to be my first post, but avast.
The other night (in a drunken stupor that i... regrettably...dont remember) i managed to brick (probably) my Vibrant.
From going through my history i figured out that i successfully rooted my phone and loaded Macnut R14 ROM. However, it then appears that i loaded the Axure CE rom (for Captivate i think).
It is now stuck in a loop. The Att load screen appears, followed by a Galaxy S, Gt-i900 screen. My phone then says in a creepy Radiohead voice: "restore operation"
I cannot access recovery (through adb or 3-button recovery) and i have been unable to get into download mode.
My finace has forbidden me to buy the replacement phone ($288 dollars if Tmo finds anything wrong with it), so i turn to you, masters of all thing dev, for help.
I expect a certain bit of jabbing and or anger from those more established members. If it makes my case any better, i have been trolling XDA for quite a while and y'all helped me root my G1 (which i love ;-) )
Any help would be great.
Final question--is it true you can't brick a Vibrant? Just looking for some more info.
Thanks in advance,
~ J017373
Thanks guys, found a YouTube video to show me how to get into download. THERE IS HOPE YET!
okay, so i have it it Download mode. (Huge shout out to TheVoiceofAndroid), but i cant get Odin to read the phone. Is it possible that i need to download the Captivate drivers?
Was your phone recognized in odin before this mishap? Just make sure you have the proper drivers installed. If you do indeed need the drivers, just search the forums.

i didnt flash with odin. Pretty sure i used adm. ****ing drunk self.
Downloading samsung drivers now. Do u know, does it cover all their Galaxy S Phones.
Search the development forums for the link to the drivers. Then just download the drivers for your respective OS.
After you have the proper drivers, just re-open odin and it should recognize your device. You should have a COM##.

Best thing you can do is just go to the vibrant bible or click on the stickies tab. Your drivers are there along with odin and odin tutorials. I wanged my phone once or twice and xda hasn't failed me yet.

ok com recognoized. The only problem im having is if i want to goto eugenes 2.2, do i have to goto stock first?
dear LORD ITS FIXED. THANK YOU XDA!
Haha, awesome post.
Remember how you just fixed your phone... if you continue to tweak it, it will more than likely happen again ;-)
Good to have you back.

[Q] pc will not see phone in dl mode

So sorry to bother you people with my little problems but as long as my phone is in dl mode the pc says device not recognized any other screen and its fine. I'm going to grab at air here, but do you have Odin up before you stick it in download mode? it should be..... try unpluging usb and plugging it back in while in download mode with odin running... (DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT unplug while actually flashing with Odin... it will soft brick your phone) just saying.. if it hangs while flashing it can still be recovered.. of course.. but the first time i softbricked my phone i was like OH SH1T!!!! my wife gonna kill me.... lol
Out of curiosity, is your usb port 2.0? Mine would never get recognized on older computers that didn't have usb2.0.

I had the same problem a while back... what you have to do is make sure you have all of the correct driver's for ur vibrant installed on your computer in order for your computer to recognize it. go to samsung's website at this link ( http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/ ) and enter your phone info in. When the next screen comes up, click on the "Software" tab at the top of the screen. You then need to click on the second one down (Device(Install) (Software) (ver.10095.9) ) and download/install that to your computer. Make sure you open it after you install it to make sure you have all of the driver's installed (it should do this automatically). after you reboot your computer, open odin, and connect you phone to your pc in download mode, it should now see it. let us know if this works for you...

I don't want to try to fix it or anything with an update, i just want to completely get the phone back to normal like as if i were buying it brand new from the store. Can someone please help.

Download vibrant aio toolbox in the stickie section of development and print back to stock very easy.
Also the cables go bad I've gone through 2 may need to pick up another before to get your computer to recognize it. If toolbox can't kick it ink download mode.

Download this: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...11232449765/Kies_Mini_For_Vibrant_10095_9.exe. This is samsung kies mini which will install all the right drivers so that your phone will be recognized.
thats if u can get mini kies to accept ur phone as kies is not easiest thing to do for some. but if u get kies to accept ur phone then u can odin back to stock 2.1 and then u can go from there.
- So does the phone charge when connected to PC but just doesn't mount correctly?
- Try checking your "USB debugging" settings under /settings/applications/development. It could be as simple as that.
If not there are a ton of guides out there for restoring to stock just google it:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Samsung+vibrant+restore+to+stock
(I like the first link, that guy starts it out pretty funny)
Honestly the AIO toolbox should be the easiest way for you to go tho. I have not personally used it but it seems the most surefire way for others. The guides here at XDA will be most helpful but there are an endless amount of them on the interweb. Good luck!
*EDIT* If you really want stock flash this:

I am in a state of fear, fear that if i turn off my phone and turn it back on it wil go straight into emergency mode.
Its very wierd,my pc running on windows 7 doesnt recognise my phone(all drivers are intact and installed) in both emergency mode and booted mode and even when the phone is off and i plug in usb,the yellow screen of emergency just pops up. Also i cant boot my phone cause one touch at the power button and yellow screen pops up. The good news though is,after countless attempt at taking out battery then inserting it again and trying to power on,the phone wil boot normaly again. And one more wierd thing is, if wen inserting the usb,the emergency screen doesnt pop up(happens rarely) but lg logo does, then my laptop recognises my phone, and in this way i change my rom from OpenOptimus 2.2.01 to stock v2.3 using kdz updater. Right now its booted and runing normaly except for usb mass storage mode and usb tethering(cuz my laptop doesnt recognize my phone)
I know smethng is wrng with my phone bt i dnt knw wat. Pls help me!

Correct me if I'm wrong as I just got my S3 yesterday, but if you had a USB Jig, wouldn't you be able to force download mode to flash a new ROM via Odin? Read this link, I'm not 100% sure though. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402286
Try using a USB jig.. it may be just a softbrick. But if the USB jig does not do the trick, then you my friend have hardbricked your phone. To get this fixed, you have to get JTAG services near you.. or if you are on warranty, maybe sending it to your service center will be less of a hassle
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
You can make a jig and force download mode just Google it, its only a resistor between two connections on the plug!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
If you manage to revive it through a jig: please make sure you got the i9300 S3 not another model, since they are not compatible!
There's been talk about booting the Galaxy phone's bootloader from a specially formatted sdcard and with a rather uncommon jig ohmage, but I'm not sure it applies to the s3

I think it does, if I'm not mistaken it was a leak of the official jtag documentation
Op look in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891197 then see if anyone near you had a jig. Then contact them to borrow their jig instead of making one.
You really named yourself "bricked my s3 help"
