hey everyone
I am sort of new to flashing basebands, so just one simple question; Is it safe to flash an X10i baseband onto an X10a? In this case I want to flash BB67 to my X10a currently running BB54.
Please get back to me.
Thank you.

Yes, it should be fine.
I have a X10A, now i´m using BB67 and have no problems, works better than others. Try it.

Unless you're with ATT
I have a x10a w att and i had to use the flash tool to get 2.1. I used the x10a firmware instead of the global because i had better results with the x10a firmware. Then u can root and install xrecovery and get 2.2. I had absoutely no problems on 2.2. I had better results and less bugs on 2.2 rather than 2.1

Rogers here with 1.6. Can you describe your procedure in more detail please? Like:
- How did you get 2.1? Did you use the official AT&T ROM?
- Which 2.2 ROM did you use?
Thanks
Ive tried getting to 2.1 with x10 Flasher but it never detects the firmware .

Search threads for x10a global generic firmware 2.0.2.A.0.24 and flash tool. There is Rogers 2.1 as well, but there is no ATT 2.1 firmware, because they never updated. Global Generic x10a works great. I used to swear that regional Brazil was better than global generic for ATT, but after using x10a global generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 firmware I have to say they work the same. Global Generic is only missing google Voice Search app, but you can download it yourself.

You have to "extract" the 10 "file sin" files out of the firmware download to get them into the right format, "SIN files". Then create a "firmware" folder inside flasher folder, if one does not exist, and put the "SIN file"s in the firmware folder.

i recently shifted from Nokia to Android and i rooted my X10i today , did most of the tweaks but the issue is that i am confused between roms and firmwares , whats the main difference ? yeah also lead me to a rom for x10i
p.s: my first post on XDA
Well for roms whats the difference? Well customs roms are made my nice people here on xda and the firmwares from sony if im wrong correct me and a rom i'd suggest you its the best 2.2 stable and fastest rom its called freex10 madr by zdzihu look for it in the developement section and also you might wanna try wolfbreaks one it has more customisation and welcome to xda buddy

you can use Trip rom as well , its very cool
i meanyt to say that if i install any rom will i loose my generic se firmware or data ?
You can always go back to general SE firmware by clicking repair in SEUS.
The data on your sdcard is usually safed when changing between ROMs. But to be sure you can make a backup in xRecovery. Or use an app like Titanium backup or My Backup Root.
Owner of Post,
Do you have the latest version of busybox installed yet and xrecovery yet, because if you don't, I or somebody else can help you. So post again and if you need it and I will post some links for you to use.

Here is flashtool that will help with many things with the x10 like rooting, new se firmwares, installing busybox, ect.
What is your baseband? I need to know before you do the following below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
and here is the how to to use flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10879507#post10879507
since your phone is already rooted, install busybox with flashtool first then xrecovery with this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571.
then pick on of the lovely ROMs with with the correct baseband you have.
im on 2.1.54

Good. Now you can use most if not all 2.2 ROMS. Go the busybox step then.

by the way, it doesn't matter if your phone is X10a or X10i. that just means your phone hardware frequency is different. you can use any custom ROM. I recommend Trip's GB MiUI ;-)
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App
u should try wolfbreak's custom rom in the android development section since your baseband is on .54 if not you have to take the trouble to flash your baseband to .49 or 52 for trips rom
Thanks Guys
Im sorry im makin a thread for such a stupid question but what firmware do I have to be to get the gb update? Is it the .435 generic? Im on a x10a.
Thanks in advance
Yup, and since the upgrade is near, i recommend you not to modify the phone.

Did you ever think that maybe he is not on stock anymore.
@ OP
We don't know yet.
Hopefully soon we will.
Thhanks guys, im on rogers stock 2.1 I was thinkin to root after flashing it might be pointless if im going 2.3. Better keep it stock while I wait.
What did you mean by *unmodified*? Rooting? Or something else?
Sorry for double post, I just downloaded the x10a .435 generic from the flashtool thread, is that the stock unmodified one?
Sorry first android phone lol :$

No, dont use FlashTool. Yous current firmware is just fine. And yes, unmodified=no root, custom rom, etc.

Wow, you want to debate just about that? And DID I say I KNOW he is using an unmodified stock fw?
Btw OP, if you still want to modify your phone, go ahead. But make sure you flash your phone with ROGERS stock fw using FlashTool when the upgrade is rolled out. Still, I am not sure if they block modified X10, but an insider said so and I trust him.

Wait:-o. I can get the update with a rogers branded phone?, I though it was only generic ones
We are still not sure about that. It depends on rogers if they want.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
So if I flash the generic one ill be able to upgrade
Hello!
I wonder if there will be a way to root the stock SE 2.3.3 fw withtout flashing the pre-rooted version in the next days or if its something hard to do.
Also, does the update of baseband, fw, kernel, etc... means something to the devs of custom ROMs like fixing camera bugs
Thx
A root method will come with some time.
