Here is my first attempt at a custom rom.

-Spidia (assisting with creating the flashable zip)
Info -
Dell Streak 2.2.2 build 354
- Bloatware removed
- default wallpaper changed
- ADW as default and only launcher
- network and wifi tweaks
- zipaligned
- deoxide
- modified framework-res.apk based on older GingerKrad themes
- sd card read set from 128-> 2048
- new cleaner font
- fly in effects
- Stock apps are not updated
- Has Sense Live wallpaper
Bugs -
Calculator - Minus key is actually a Square due to custom font.
SuperUser - Is broken, you need to re-run gingerbreak 1.2 to re-root (if someone knows how to fix this please let me know.. thanks)
Background -
This is my base rom I will be working on for RealRed. This rom will be updated with newer builds when they come out.
This a super striped, tweaked rom on the settings that I have found to be the best for me. This is a rom you could easily build on and tweak via, new scripts, launchers, etc... I called it PlayDoh because it can be molded to what you want!

Install Directions
1. Make a nandroid backup
1a. Make a nandroid backup
2. save to SD card
3. load via streakmod or clockwork
4. upon completion and reboot.. MAKE SURE TO DO A FACTORY RESET!
5. When it boots, click the bottom right button to choose language of choice.
6. Then click the android guy to begin.

I don't have screenshot on my test unit... Take a look at the Realred screenshots and just imagine a black gingerbread theme that is not red.

So far what I can tell from testing this, is that the 2D &3D is a definite inprovement. Since people will ask, I have been getting about 900 average on quadrant. It does appear to be quicker in some aspects, and more testing will have to be done to be sure. Upon initial boots, it does take a long time to boot, but after 3rd reboot it started to boot up faster.
Kudos to krad for the development. Keep up the good work.

Not to belittle your work, but how different are playdoh and realred from eachother?
If they're only different from themes would it be easier to maintain if they were simply 1 rom with 2 themes included?
You could use the installer streakdroid does and have a install.txt
You could even include the install.txts along with the post. If they can download a rom they can download the txt too

There will be a difference... customization will go further beyond just the framework... I will customize a bunch of the system apk's...etc... will also experiment with adding new elements.... this rom is meant to be a tweaked barebones for average guy to customize him or herself

This looks like a push in the right direction.. I see a boot.img for 351.. However I am running 354. How does one implement superboot

Disassemble the boot.img and you'll understand the principle, then rebuild the boot.img for the 354
