Evo3d and youtube - HTC EVO 3D

I have ruled out dns, and I have plenty of bandwidth, however every youtube video on my wifi stops every few seconds.
There is no 4g, so I would be most appreciated if anyone has any pointers.

Is the red staying ahead if the little drag icon? I know on 3g it does it a lot for me but not on 4G or WiFi.

Where the 4g seemed to stream and cache, the 3d streams only and constantly stops. I have 12GB WITH UVERSE, so it's not bandwidth.

I can tell you it might be that the recent release of YouTube is wayyy messed up... I could be just that. Try going to mobile YouTube website and see if it streams normally... At least until they fix the app in an update.

Does anybody use this app? If so, has anyone noticed a bad lag when using it to download videos, especially when dragging down the status bar?
Been using it for a while now. Haven't noticed any lag but I usually don't pay too much attention. Gonna D/L something now.

Cool, let me know.
The only thing that really lags is when I try to pull down the notification bar when it's downloading. Scrolling through the home screens seems fine.

Well I just download about 10 different videos over 3G, 4G & Wifi. Didn't see any lag when pulling down the notification bar or the phone in general. Maybe you need to do a restart maybe? Sorry I couldn't re-create the problem you are having.

I've used it for years. No problems here
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Still having the problem even after rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling. Is there any advantage JetVD has over TubeMate?
So uninstalled JetVD, installed TubeMate and downloaded a Youtube file without any lag. I like JetVD's interface a lot better but I can't deal with the notification bar freezing up so I guess I'll keep TubeMate unless there's a better option.
I've been using FreeDi Youtube Downloader since I got my OG Evo 4G and I've loved it. Now continue to use it flawlessly on the Evo 3D.

How to control data?

I notice when I bring my phone out of sleep I am nearly constantly seeing my 3g uploading or downloading data. I have tried the droid firewall but still not much success. How cant I fix this?
Did you set a widget to update each time after unlocking the screen?
That could be the reason.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
Nope. Using no widgets

Go to settings-accounts-untick the two boxes at the top (if theyre ticked that is)

After update....

YouTube will not work. When you try to play a video it just black screens and freezes. This also happens when I try and use an app that opens YouTube. It will not work once it tries to launch YouTube. The two in particular that I have is Funny Videos and Top Music Videos. Anyone else experiencing this?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Nope, works fine for me.... Well, at least when I'm on WiFi and off of Sprint's crappy 3G -.-
Edit: Well, I'm used to getting terrible 3G service but now I can confirm its more than that.. When on 3G YouTube is indeed broken.. Stock, never been rooted
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? My YouTube app works fine
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I could only uninstall tbe last update, which I did. I also tried power cycling and neither worked. I would hate to have to do a factory reset

That line leads me to believe you're using a custom rom. If so did you wipe dalvick and cache?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player? I dont know if it will work but might be worth a shot?
Mine does the same thing when using 3g. Wifi works fine though.

All streaming, YouTube etc works perfectly for me as designed. Currently on Fresh 1.0 w no wipes and newest PRL. Note, that's also on WiFi and 3G.
Sent from my htc_jewel using xda app-developers app
no issues here.....stock updated no root no tamper.....works in updated youtube app on wifi and sprint 3g.
...try and clear you tube app data?
mine does this sometimes but a refresh normally fixes it. and this is not with the app that i have noticed it is wit videos on sites and only happens when u make them full screen also sometimes if u just watch it a second the vid comes back
I did a little tinkering and I found that switching to Firefox browser fixed this.. I was using Chrome and it may be related to that. What browser were you using?

HD Voice?

What happened to that?
He died
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
I was wondering the same thing recently.

Still no word eh?
*pokes it with a stick* he's dead, Jim
Lol....that made my day "poking with a stick...." On a more serious note, HD voice is part of network vision updates/upgrades currently being rolled out and you also need to have a phone capable of HDvoice (ie: EVO LTE) plus prolly a couple others possibly. So its kinda active but requires a phone and the network actively broadcasting the signal between callers. Hope that makes sense and helped explain the quietness about the feature.

Do you ever use the kick stand?

barely use it since its not convenient to pop out as it was on the OG Evo.
I've probably used it a handful of times at the most.
I've found it useful for using my phone at the table while eating to read articles and such.

I use it all the time. I find it easier to hold my phone with it out. I balance it on my middle finger. I watch a lot of netflix too and kick it out when im reading a recipe or something too.
I use it almost daily. When browsing and eating, Netflix, and reading articles.

I like having it. I had the original Evo, and was upset my Evo 3D didn't have it. That said, I rarely ever use it! Lol. I never watch TV shows or movies directly on my phone. I use my Asus Infinity tablet for that. If I do watch TV or movies on my phone, I stream them to my HTC Media Link. My TV has Netflix, YouTube, an Internet Explorer, and other apps built in to it, so I just use that sometimes. The Media Link is great, I use it quite often!! I pay for DroidTV, so I stream it to my Media Link from my phone or just use the special HDMI cable to hook up my tablet. The kickstand is a GREAT feature, and I hope the next Evo has one as well, even though I may never use it either, lol

It's really nice when you are trying to show a video to a group of people: just prop it down and everyone has the perfect angle. Then start the "oohs" and "aaahs" as they see this amazing phone.
