hmmm not sure how into this i am without being to do a nandroid

Easy-to-follow steps here...
As for concerns about having a Nandroid backup, I can't fault anyone for that... these are modifications to some baseline system settings. However, the changes are reverted on every reboot... so just stop launching the boot script and it goes away. If you're still not completely satisfied with that, the script does contain a clean-up routine that will force the settings back to default.

maybe ill give it a shot tonight, only reason i have hesitation because i come frome devices that are fairly "open" to allowing me to do what I want so not having a backup or a easy way to restore makes me sad

instructions i used
here is where i got it from http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...doing-disappointing-before-but-no-more-6.html and i have already done the sbf to get all apps back and its really easy so theres no worries about messing anything up

how does updating/unisntalling work?
EDIT: Works like a charm, ill do some testing throughout the day and see how it works out

Is There An APP That You Can Schedule Reboots?

I'm Looking for an app that you can set up a schedule to have your phone reboot at a specific time every day. I know about "Fast Reboot" and those type of apps, but I'm looking for something that fully reboots the phone, hardware and all. Anyone know of an app that does that?
I would think Tasker could probably do it.
I haven't used tasker before and I have read that it is complicated to use so I was hoping for something a little more simple. Plus, I don't really need tasker for anything else so that would be kind of an expensive rebooting app. But I bet your right and that it could do it and thank you for taking the time and giving me your suggestion.
Why woukd you need a reboot app? Just curous
Sent from my Vibrant on Ultimate 2.2.1
I don't need it per say. But I thought it would be nice to have it reboot and be ready in the morning right away. I just reboot my phone every morning and to have it done automatically would be cool. That's all.

Also charging is better with phone off on GB so having the ability to have the phone turn on at a set time would still allow use of an alarm...theoretically anyway. I've actually thought about this but haven't looked into it.

Theres an app out there called PhonePrioritizer....it can perform scheduled reboots using a script. it does work, i used to use it....google it and check it out

Theres no way to have the phone turn on by itself while it is not on...he probably means he just wants his phone to reboot itself like a half hour before he wakes up every morning so its fresh and ready to go, and he has all that nice reboot-RAM to play with.

Thanks, I will check that app out. And yes, you knew exactly what I meant. Thanks, I couldn't think of another way to explain it and you did perfectly.
Titanium Backup would be the easiest way to do it, but you have to back stuff up, which you're probably doing, anyway, right?
I would have paid at least $20 for it, and it's been worth much more to me than that.
You can use Script Manager to write a script that reboot
(Create a Script in your SD card, under the #!/system/bin/sh line just write the word reboot, it should look like this:
#!/system/bin/sh
reboot
)
Afterwards, long hold that script, and then change it so that it Run as root.
DO NOT check the Run at boot, or else it'll infinitely reboot.
then in Script Manager, go to Menu --> Advanced Options --> Scheduler
and then schedule the time you want it to reboot. Then press add script, add that script you just made.

problem with system apps force closing after restoring from backup

hey, to make a long story short since i'm sure you don't wanna have to read a whole page,
this my first Android phone coming from iPhone. I had originally gotten the skyrocket, but after getting throttled the second day and wanting to be able to customize and reading the i777 is the superior device, I decided to swap back to the i777 yesterday.
I had the skyrocket rooted and used titanium backup to backup my apps and system data. so I rooted this phone and tried to restore ask the apps and system data. everything at first looked like a perfect switch, but now I found problems. so far from what I've found, when I try to change ringtones using Android system the phone freezes and then it said that it had to force close.
the purge problem is the alarms, when I try to edit one or create a new one, it freezes again and force closes.
does anyone know a way to make it work while keeping all my apps and not having to start from scratch again? I'd be fine with having to redo all the settings and options if I have to
thanks for any help

TiBu has an option for only "missing apps and data" when restoring - this is the only safe option (in rare cases even it fails, but it's rare).
There's also an experimental "system data migration" option in TiBu that's off by default - I've never used it, and be warned that it may not work at all when trying to change to a completely different device.
ok, so you're saying
instead of doing the "restore apps plus system data", do the "restore missing apps with data"?

This is exactly the kind of attitude that causes newbies to get flamed. This is NOT the Help Desk. No one is paid to help you in here. We expect you to FIND help for yourself by reading and when no help can be found, THEN post. Laziness is not to be rewarded. Anyone familiar with TiBU knows that you should almost never restore system data with it because it will cause problems except in specific situations. Had you done a little searching and reading you would have likely come across this info as it is well documented in here. Be thankful Entropy took pity on you and gave you the right answer despite your laziness.

My attitude is fine. TiBU is one of THE most used apps on Android phones and by users in here and if you're saying you searched and did not find an answer about this then I say you're full of it. Like I said, be thankful Entropy helped you out because more often than not he feels the same way about this kind of thing. Redundant threads clog up the forums and it is always better to post to an existing related thread than to start a new one. All members should keep that in mind before hitting the Submit button.

If you're on a stock ROM I believe superuser will be wiped. So, you'll have to re-root. If you're on a custom ROM and do a factory reset, root should remain intact.
All he has to do is really wipe and install the rom he was using. Just do as they said with titanium backup and you'll be fine.

Try System Tuner (free on the market)
adjust clock speed when the phone is on standby. You will see a significance in battery. Or you can try a different battery app. Explore your options.

highly recommend titanium backup on the market it's worth the price...you can get rid of bloatware with it too, and back up and and all programs and their data...
the person above is right, system tuner is a good program, but I don't know how it'll do with the stock kernel, if you downclock your phone you might start to see some lag...if you do decide to do that make sure you go to boot settings in system tuner and make sure set cpu on boot completion so everytime your phone restarts you don't have to reset the settings you put in system tuner..
honestly the best way to get a better battery life is don't install a lot of junk and you can also use the program juice defender...
install badass battery program and see what is sucking up the battery...
good luck

Hello,
Similar situation here. Rooted my Droid Razr Maxx today to remove the Verizon bloatware. I only did this because they where insisting I update their apps and give them more permissions and I didn't use them either.
I'm not looking to use a custom rom or anything, just wanted to remove those apps. I did use the backup option on each app prior to deleting it.
The Beginners guide suggests I add CWM. Is this really needed for my situation or should I get this setup as well? I won't be loading any roms and plan to stick with the default one. I am fine with it just wanted the bloatware to be gone.
I would've flashed a recovery first. Just because you can make a backup and reflash it just incase something goes wrong. Like removing something you shouldn't have. To each his own. But if the RZR Maxx is anything like the older Moto devices you can use RSD Lite to go back to completely stock. So since this is the HTC Amaze Forum I don't know if that option is available for the RZR. You can navigate yourself to those forums and ask over there.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?

I used titanium backup to backup the apps before I deleted them.
I haven't used TB in a long time.. But I don't think you can restore system/apps after they are removed. Unless its different now.

I have the option on the apps I removed to restore them from backup.
I have yesterday flashed ICS first time in my life, rooted it and installed titanium backup Pro (the first time too). Then I uninstalled more than forty precious pre-installed apps what definitely were placed there for my benefit and thriving...
So far everything’s running just perfect. I can’t imaging smartphone can perform better than what I hold and play in my hands. I am so happy again with my amaze.
However, I still have seven apps “frozen” in my TB. I do not understand what to do.
1. Google Backup Transport.
2. Google One Time Init.
3. Google Partner Setup.
4. Maps.
5. PC Synchronization.
6. Location Picker.
7. Network Location.
PLEASE someone who understand the meaning of the aforementioned ones advise me so I would better refrain from removing them too..
Thank You. Merci Beaucoup. Muchas Gracias. Danke.

Missing Ringer Toggle Icon After Deblur

Hi. I recently deblurred my phone using Lokifish's deblur script. It worked great and I'm loving it. Only one problem. After an hour or two of use, I notice that the icon for the ringer toggle disappears (only the on icon, the silent icon remains). The toggle works fine, but I'd like to not have a missing icon.
The first time this happened I thought it was my fault, because I removed all the icon png files that were showing up in my library. However, after restoring a nandroid backup, the icon disappeared again over time. I even tried restoring a stock backup (nandroid backup of stock photon after 2.3.5 OTA update) and going through the whole process of running the script again. Same result.
During the first hour or two of use after deblur, I'm generally going back and installing all my apps again, adding widgets, getting settings back the way I like them, and so fourth. So, I think it has something to do with one or more of these tasks.
I'm just wondering if Lokifish can help me in getting the icon back. I'm posting here, because I'm too new to post a reply in the deblur thread since it's in the developer forum. Please let me know. Thanks.
You are never too new to reply or ask on the thread of the developed thing you have problem with. You should only avoid posting new threads on the developer section, unless you developed or found something and want to share it.
About your problem: Sorry, I'm not an expert yet, and I have no idea.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. Unfortunately, when I try to post a reply to a thread in the developer forum, I get the following error:
p0wder2, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
The reason below that line that I think most applies to myself is the following:
New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums.
This is why I have made the determination that I am "too new" to post. If this is inaccurate, please let me know, as I would love to be able to post a reply in the Deblur thread regarding the issue I experienced.
Thanks again.
I'm facing the same issue related to toggle icon. Finally I've to factory reset twice to get my icon back... lol

Sorry, my mistake. It's normal that you're unable to reply on the developer forus, just as you said. You can try to do what matrix says, factory reset twice. Then try to restore data using advanced restore within recovery mode.

Thanks, but I actually have a nandroid backup of the "deblurred" stock ROM. When restoring from that backup, the icon is there for a while and then it isn't. I also reverted to the stock 2.3.5 ROM, without the deblur, and when I went through the whole process again, the same thing happened. Icon is there for a while, then it isn't. I need a way of getting it back without any resets or restoring from backups. If not, I can live without it
Thanks again though. I appreciate the suggestions, they are just ones I've already tried.
I'm able to reply on the script's thread, so I posted for you.

Even if you reinstall it, you won't get your icon back... this is something related to application and memory problem... when I restored my backup, same issue again... didn't find any solution except installing lesser apps...
In my case some go application is causing a problem...

Interesting. Well, I figured it had to do with adding apps since that's the first thing I do after the deblur process is completed. However, I'm thinking there may be a way of forcing ADW to reload it, but I'm not nearly familiar enough with linux (or the ADW launcher for that matter) to figure that out on my own.
Oh well, as I said before, I can live without it if needs be. I'd rather have all the apps that are currently installed than the ringer icon. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, though.

Stock screen off animation

I just noticed this a few days ago, and it's not a huge deal but I figured I'd ask anyway. I'm currently on The Base 0.7.3, and recently I don't get the stock "iris closing" screen off animation anymore. The screen just blanks out when I turn it off.
I noticed this after I flashed the different 4.2.2 ROMs in the original dev section. After flashing those I restored a backup, which is what I'm using now. After finding the loss of the screen off animation, I've since re-restored the backup, doing a factory reset, wiping cache and dalvik, but nothing works. I guess something must have messed up with my backup, although everything else is perfectly fine. I suppose I could do a clean install of The Base, but I first wanted to find out if anyone else knew what might cause this, or if I could just flash or load some stock file to get it working again. Thanks.

its an animation file in the media folder insiide systems though i am not sure which one
one is like the bootanimation file and theres another one....maybe that is your answer
but still i m not 100% sure about it
placing that file in a rom can help
Also check to make sure window animation in developer options is set to 1. I think any other option stops the screen off animation.

You can look for it in system/media as suggested above but not likely.
Typically it is the framework.res.apk - you would have to decompile, edit, and recompile the apk.
Here is a how-to (have not tried this) YMMV

I think many of us would be very grateful if someone made that animation available as a zip that could be used with any ROM. I know I'd be willing to buy a beer for someone who does.
