I am using the t mobile HTC HD2, I have it unlocked and running it for my at&t network. I have also started using the android program through my sim card, so basically my phone is running on the android interface. It works great, however i cannot access the internet nor send/receive picture messages. I need to figure out the VPN setting or Proxy setting for the at&t provider. Since at&t does not have this phone they are unable to help on where or how to do it.
Anyone got this same situation and figured it out?!
Please help, thanks
Try adding an apn manually using the settings from here......
Cant guarantee it will work, but worth a try.
If it does work, beware of data charges. Unless you have an unlimited plan.
I dont know where i can put in a new apn, i can only access vpn settings, and the proxy settings.
isnt there anything under "connections" - "networks" or something similar??
if not then I dont know, sorry
ok i found where to put in the apn, i put it in, but nothing seems to work, thanks for the try though...
i cant be the only person using the hd2 for at&t right? lol
might be worth asking in the tmous section....
best of luck.....
idk what that section is, im new to this blog, can you help

The i9000 isnt a vibrant. If its unlocked all you should need to do is add epc.tmobile.com to your list of access point names in settings, wireless and network, mobile network, access point names.
Also if it is a i9000 dont try to flash any vibrant roms. Go to the i9000 forum for those.

Check to make sure, you have the APN settings for your service provider.
Go to settings >> Wireless and network >> Mobile Networks >>Access point names >> Add new and set it to your Cell provider APN.
eg: Tmobile: epc.tmobile.com
Everything else blank Set APN type to Internet & MMS.
If you can specify your service provider, we can give you the APN settings for your provider.
Samsung Vibrant T959
Ok... Chichi... your response to my post was very adequate. It is not an I9000, is a Vibrant T959 S Galaxy... Now that I got that clear up... I dont have the APN for my network... It is Claro, from Puerto Rico... And I will need all kind of explanations to do this... the phone ask me all of this:
Name:
APN
Proxy
Port
Username
password
server
mms port
mcc
mnc
authentication type
apn type
All of this settings got an arrow where I can input whatever it is I have to input... the problem is that Im new at this... I dont know how to do it... but I will like to learn...
I did learn how to unlock this phone... it is my first...
Thanks you very much.
I will like to send this to you as a message...
because you treat me very kindly and with the upmost respect.
Thank you very much.

Thanks Wilddlymr... It was a mistake about the name of the phone... in reality the phone is a Samsung Vibrant SGH-T959... just as yours! sorry for the mistake. The thing is that I dont have the APN... and the company running this in Puerto Rico... is Claro. It use to be Verizon. I dont know if you can find the APN for this company over there in the USA. I will try and find it... but I dont know where to go. I went to Claro, and they refuse to give that information to me... (I told them to help me adquire the signal for the internet in this unlocked phone). Anyway, if you can find the APN for Claro (the message dont let me post the URL)... but it is w w w. c la ro. com I will appreciate it. Thanks, man!

apn type: internet and mms
under access point names its blank. I can add a new apn but im not sure what all to add as far as proxy, port, user name, pass, server, ect...
edit: I got it to work thank you.
Also lost Data after flashing Wifi Calling app ...can't change settings in Mobile networks
think I've lost baseband...(whatever that means...basically phone won't recognize a sim card is loaded) is there a way to fix this without Oding ?
Does the phone say there's no SIM card inserted? If so, run to any T-mobile store and ask for a new SIM.
Also, I was having data issues two days ago. I keep a copy of the KB5 modem that's flashable in Recovery. Just re-flash and all was good.
T-mobile APN address:
epc.tmobile.com
Wish I could attach the KB5 file for ya, but I can't. Just search for it.

I've searched to the best of my ability and can't find much help. My problem is that when I'm any custom ROM (tried about 5 including CM7, CM9 and RootBox JB) I must manually switch APNs when I get a MMS message. So for example, if I receive a picture message, I have to go into my APN setting and manually select my MMS APN, then go back to my messaging app and hit download. Then once it downloads, I have to go back into my APN setting and switch back to my internet APN. On the stock ROM this was not the case. I have all the correct settings, I'm absolutely sure. I've tried editing the apns-conf.xml file to add my carriers settings. Tried flashing without the sim card in. Can't seem to get it to work. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can provide.

I assume you mean combine the two APN settings. I've tried that. All that does is leave me without internet or mms capabilities.
Seriously? what provider do you have? I'm guessing since you're in the USA judging by the american flag in your profile that you're on ATT or straight talk? Telling us what provider you have would help quite a bit..
Edit, I thought help me, help me I'm dying questions belong in the QnA forums?
Sorry, knew I was forgetting something. My carrier is Viaero. I live in the middle of nowhere in Colorado so its basically the only option. AT&T doesn't cover our area. And now this isn't an urgent issue, just something that kind of annoying. All I was looking for were some ideas on how to remedy the situation, so I thought general would be more appropriate.
Post both apns please
I've verified these with Viaero and with another SII running stock. also had an unlocked iPhone before which these worked with. Another side note, on custom roms if I put in the "APN TYPE" I get neither internet nor MMS. So I have to leave those blank to get it to work at all.
NAME
Viaero Connect
APN
internet.vedge.com
APN TYPE

Viaero MMS

MMSC

MMS PROXY

MMS PORT

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue.
For MMS Part .... change port number "9401" to just blank
Hi this is an odd one, but here goes. I am on Solavei and have to manually set apns well recently after reflash, the apn setting for mms protocol is completely missing. Checked the factory tmobile apns and they don't show it either. I have no idea how this happened but it's driving me crazy. I've reset and flashed 3 different roms all with the same issue. Any ideas or input would be much appreciated. As a result of no mms protocol, I can no longer send or receive mms.
wow apparently I stumped everyone. Or my question isn't clear?
Search on the google for your settings and Than set manually or you may ask for help to your service provider,
They will guide you and teach you set manual settings..

lol I have done that. There is an entire field "mms protocol" missing from the apn settings on 3 roms that I've tried. i'm concerned that I somehow jacked something up during one of my flashes but I can't understand how it would affect all my installs unless they are from the same source.

lol what you guys aren't getting is I know all my settings. So slow down before you answer please. I know what my apn settings should be. I've done this before. The problem is that under apn settings in my phone, there is no longer a field for mms protocol. Without said field, I can't change the protocol to the correct setting and hence am not getting or sending mms.
Did you ever find a solution? I'm trying to enable MMS on my LG GTab and there are no MMS fields in the APN settings.

In your mobile networks find the APN names. If there is no explicit MMS section, there is a PROTOCOL section or something like it where you would add "mms" in the new APN you would create.
This page will give some basic insight, but might not need to be followed exactly--tailor to your needs.

lol at the previous poster doing exactly the same thing ... again. You guys, the problem isn't what setting to use OR where to use the setting. The problem is there is literally no place to put in the setting that you need. The field "MMS Protocol" is not there.... you simply cannot enter the information that you need to. It's obvious that it's in the APN settings where you can change all the other related fields. Funny how two years apart, people are not reading and spewing the same stuff...
Anyway, apologies for resurrecting this, yet again. I got a new phone recently and I am having the same issue. I'm looking for this field but it's not available. This was actually the most relevant thread that I've found after a bunch of searching. So, if anyone found a solution (for this or any other phone/tablet), please tell!

Maybe the rom's don't have that setting? Same thing if you create a new APN?
Correct, it is not in the default APN nor available when creating a new APN. Unfortunately, I am stuck with a phone that has no custom roms at the moment. The question is whether this setting is actually missing (not displayed) AND unsupported (not implemented) or whether it is simply missing (not displayed) in the rom. There seems to be very little online that I can find about this other than threads which mention that the "MMS protocol" should be x, y, z for the APN of a particular network. Basically, all my searches turn up nothing as to "why" this is missing and whether (or not) there is anything that can be done about it.

Carrier probably crippled the feature in their factory rom--which means it is available, but not displayed--they don't want anyone messing with it.
So all you gotta do is find how to edit the file in which that information is stored, and I bet it's really easy.
Good luck.

While I don't disagree with you that there is probably a file somewhere that deals with this...I disagree that it is easy. That is, it would be easy...if the information on how to do it and/or where to find it were actually easy to find
I also disagree that this is simply due to a carrier-based rom. First reason is that this phone is an international, factory unlocked phone and the rom comes directly from the manufacturer. While it's possible that manufacturers themselves don't want you to change this setting, that would explain the second problem I have. I have a slightly older phone with a custom rom which also doesn't have this setting. It's possible that phone doesn't support that setting anyhow...but I don't feel like buying a bunch of other phones just to look into this one thing.
Anyway... none of this stuff about *me* is actually even relevant. I think our discussion still doesn't help people find what they are looking for. So, let's leave it at that and maybe someone will stop by here sooner than later and know the answer (and then also post the answer) about if this is "unlockable" or it's permanently missing for whatever reason.

Then the factory was very lucky in locking in just precisely the APN you need in your country for your carrier. That doesn't sound like an unlocked international device to me.
See if there is a way to add a new APN specifically for MMS. MMS settings can be excluded from APN because they are meant to be in a separate APN.

Sorry...not sure I follow the relationship here... And unlocked phone is not attached to a carrier. I bought it unlocked, unattached to a carrier, and I am using it on a carrier here, without the need to unlock it. How exactly does that mean that the factory locked something on it...
Just because there is no "MMS protocol" setting in the APN settings doesn't mean my phone is completely gimped.

I created a new APN with just mms in the "APN type", saved, went back in to edit and see no difference in the available settings. On the APN selection screen, this particular APN did not have a "checkbox" on the right side, so it was different due to the APN type.

I'm glad you gave it a try.
Every carrier's APN's are different--a factory unlocked phone has to allow for changes to the APN and one can only assume, to the MMSC. Did you put the other APN settings in yourself?
Have you asked the factory or tried support from the manu?
What kind of phone do you have--Amaze 4G? Which region?
It's been years and I'm having the same issue, has anyone found the solution?
Edit: By years I mean this thread, not me having the issue.
I have a S7 Edge.
In the APN Settings, there seems to be everything except the option for MMS Protocol. :/
This is the first time I've seen someone with my exact problem...it appears no one has the answer yet? OP, did you ever figure it out?
