[Q] Missing Orange widgets/apps on UK Orange branded SGS2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, hopefully someone can help!
I have recently upgraded to the Orange branded Samsung Galaxy S2 and upon customising the appearance of the phone I wanted to add the Orange clock widget that you can see when you choose the Orange homescreen instead of the Samsung one (see attached).
After trying to look for the Orange 'clock and alarm' widget under "Orange Widgets" I concluded that it was not actually installed on the device. I doubled checked with the phone simulator on the orange website (http://simulator.orange.co.uk/vdevice-orange/actions/device/samsung_i9100_galaxy_s_ii) and noticed that it does display the 'clock and alarm' widget under the Orange widget list so in theory it *should* be there.
I also noticed that the Orange email application was also not present resulting in a 'gap' on the homescreen where the Orange email app shortcut should be (between 'backup' and 'maps').
Thinking i had a shoddy build I called up Orange and eventually got through to a UK senior techie bloke, (not before I was subjected to the usual "take battery off, reboot, let me send you some settings, read, delete, reboot" saga) and he was surprised as well as he had noticed on his Galaxy S with orange 2.3.3 gingerbread build that these apps were not on his phone. He asked around his department and the consensus seemed to be that these apps were too not available on their devices so the apps may be removed from the "standard" orange gingerbread build.
He said he would raise this internally as it seems weird that they are not there (they were apparently in the Orange 2.2 Froyo build) and there doesn't seem to be any logic for just removing those two apps, as well as the website simulator showing potentially incorrect displays.
So my first question is to any owners of orange branded Samsung Galaxy S2's, do you have the Orange "email" and Orange "clock and alarm" apps on your phone and if so, are they listed under "Orange widgets" or "Orange shortcuts"?
If you have, can you let me know what build you have (i.e. Android 2.3.3. Gingerbread.BVKE2)?
Second question is if anyone knows how I can obtain at least the Orange Clock and Alarm app (aside from asking Orange)?
I know most users like to 'debrand' their phone from the Orange "bloatware" and hence would find this request strange p!) but I really do like the look of the Orange themed clock on the homescreen!
Many Thanks in advance,
P

[Q] Question About Skins on Thunderbolt

so a few questions about skinning on the thunderbolt, first on my phone it seems that no matter what skin i apply the counter that appears on the message app and email app seem to not get themed, they stay black with a green ring, is this not right...
edit: i know ive seen other devices that it changes to match the chosen theme..but mine just doesnt..im hoping once a custom rom comes i can load that up and all will be well
On the TB the file name of those notification icons may be different. Leading to be the reason why the theme is not theming those icons also. I am not sure if this is the actual reason, just a theory.
im hoping that when some custom roms come out this little thing will be altered, im looking forward to getting the htc hub and htcsense.com in a future rom..and hopefully htc locations

Mint.com application widget something weird happend - Security question

Hi all, I just wanna be sure I'm not going crazy on this one... Here's what happended, and if someone using mint can try to reproduce it that could be great..
I have a Asus tf201 it's an android tablet few weeks ago I had a certain wallpaper with a girl on it (I'll attach the screenshots, I hope this don't break forum rules). On this device I have mint installed, and I don't remember if I already try the widget, but the app is there and I'm using it.
Last week I got a samsung galaxy S3, I'm installing all my stuff and want to try the mint widget. So I did enable the widget access in the app, add the widget and then at my surprise I can choose from two different widget color, but in the background of this "Choice menu" it's the same exact background I had on my other device which I never, ever sync in any different way and I don't even have the picture in question on my S3.
So my question, how the hell the background of my second Android device got in the back of this "choice menu" ? Is it the mint app who keep "information" from my other device or this could come from my google account ? And if I'm not crazy, this could be a privacy issue or something ?
I tried with my milestone running cyanogen 7.1.4 and I don't have the background in question when I try to add the widget, normally it would have been enough for me to stop if I can't reproduce it, but it's cyanogen and it's a old version of android, so maybe this isn't coming from the Mint app, maybe google "cache" those kind of thig ?
On my tf201 I don't even get that "choice menu" where they ask for which color you want your widget..
What do you think ? Someone with few devices can try that. Here's the step to reproduce:
- Set the background on the device1, Mint app installed
- On device2, mint installed try to add a widget, the first thing it ask is the widget color, if the background there is not the one you have on this device but the same you have on the device1, then you get the same thing, and I'm not craxy, which is a good thing!
-The Screenshot_2012-07-23-23-06-07 is a screenshot of the current background on my S3
-The second Screenshot_2012-07-23-23-06-00 is the screen shot of the actual "problem", you can see the background I had on my tf201, but this screen shot has been taken from my S3 which, again, don't have this picture even in the picasa albums..
Specs of my devices:
Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.0.4 ( Last update )
Asus transformer prime ( tf201 ), Android 4.0.3 ( Last update )
Motorola Milestone, Cyanogen 7.1.4, Android 2.3.7
Mint app up to date on every devices
Bump!
So nobody found an explanation or nobody think it worth looking at ?

[Q]Galaxy S3 Japan SC-06D No Widget Tab

How do I get to my Widgets tab?
I just bought a new Galaxy S III SC-06D from Docomo. When I press the applications button I only get an 'Application' and 'Recommends' tab, no 'Widgets' tab (this is obviously Docomo's custom interface since the 'Recommends' tab is just a bunch of junk apps the provider wants me to install).
The only things I have done to the S3 since I bought it are flash it to the newest version with Samsung Kies, change the language to English, and delete the Homescreens and Apps that my provider installed, and make a new blank home screen. I did not and do not want to root the device (despite wanting to get rid of some of the Docomo junk).
I am new to ICS so it is entirely possible I am missing something very obvious.
*Edit* I fixed the issue on my own. While I was under the impression that my device was using the TouchWiz Launcher (the default UI that comes on any Galaxy S III), Docomo had installed their own crummy launcher called 'Docomo Palette UI' which is specifically designed so that users cannot customize anything and have to see a bunch of Docomo sales stuff.
If anyone else ever has this same problem and sees this thread, just go 'Settings' (the gear icon that appears when you slide your finger from the top edge of the screen)-> Home Selection -> And choose TouchWiz home. You should get the option to set it as the default Launcher after choosing it.

Hello XDA I’ve been away from android for some time; switched to iPhone for a bit, from the htc evo 4g. I have switched to Verizon and the galaxy s4 sense then and I want to make some changes to my phone (hence the post). I have rooted my device but haven’t put any custom roms or kernels on my s4 just different launchers. Here is a list of thing I want to change:
Quick disclaimer: some of my wording may be off, I don’t have my phone in front of me to check everything and do proper background research
Phone UI-I want to change the phone app entirely. Its ugly it’s white and it’s [for lack of a better word] fat and cartoonish. I hate the stock dialer and the in-call ui. It has to go; please if nothing else give me some ideas on how to change this! Im using ex dialer and contacts but that doesn’t change the in call experience.
Unread Notifications- I’m currently using nova launcher prime and action launcher pro the kicker is that neither have a proper unread counter for calls texts and emails. Nova works the best because it does in fact have an unread counter but it only works for phone and texts but not for Samsung emails which I use for both my Gmail and my exchange emails. It irks me; I’ve emailed the developer but haven’t heard anything back from him.
Wi-Fi- is there a way to move/add wifi to the notification panel? The panel being the quick access buttons on the top of the notification scroll down. I hate that is “floating” in the other part of the notification list.
Volume- how can I get rid of the volume alert I get when I have something plugged in to the headphone port? I feel that it’s the dumbest warning in the world and it’s even more annoying because it keeps coming back after each reboot (I think). We aren’t 5 years old we already know that loadnoises arnt good for our ears…
App drawer icon- I love the touchwiz app drawer icon and that’s probably the only thing I can’t live without. I’ve got a similar icon from a touchwiz icon pack but it’s not the same one. How can I extract it from touch wiz so that I can use it with various roms or launchers?
Google play- I buy things from Google play every now and again and would like to continue to do so. The only problem is, is that I can’t move the content over to the SD card I would like to store it there because 16gb can only hold so much. I saw that someone figured out how to move Google play music over to SD which is great but I want my magazines and movies on the SD too.
I would like to keep as many Samsung features as I can when I rom my device I enjoy a lot of the Samsung gimmicks that came with it; such as multi-window and the smart stay, view, scroll and pause it’s fun to play with.
Are there specific roms and kernels I need to use for my specific device? If so please refer me to the thread.
Is there a rom that adds a professional and sleek look to the device and adds the discussed features from above? If so what is it and where can I get it!?

Icons at bottom of recently used apps screen?

The latest update I got on my S21 is now OneUI 4.1. The recently used apps screen (hit ||| button from home) now has what appears to be a hard coded collection of icons for samsung apps I'll never use. Can I change those to something more useful, or better yet eradicate them completely? (They used to be icons for recently used apps, which seemed redundant since the whole screen was also recently used apps).
