Is there a way to turn off the SMS delivery notification sound but keep the SMS received notification sound?
Not sure on the stock app, on handcent all the sounds/notifications can be modified or removed.
I use SMS Go Pro and it allows you to turn off SMS delivery notifications. That's the beauty of Android. Don't like the SMS app? Get a different one!

I too want to know this. Perhaps its possible to edit the code for the app itself just like the camera app has been modified?
Yeah, it can be tough on some of the stock android software since development minded folks seldom want to mess with something that already has multiple fully fleshed out apps to replace it. I kinda like touch wiz once its dewizified but there is almost nothing out there that you can add on to it or use to modify it. I did think of one thing though, they added some new setting adjustments into the messaging app in CM7. You might want to consider grabbing that and seeing if it brings this to the table. I cant recall all the changes in it as I didn't use it. That would be kinda stock messaging.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this, or are we forced to use another app for SMS? I really like the stock app, but are very annoyed by the fact that I cannot change this sound or remove it.
My problem is completely the opposite, I am trying to turn the notification on with no luck.
neither sms go pro or stock are responding, ticked all boxes i.e. sounds, sms options...etc with no luck.

So I've been hunting for an SMS app that will allow me to use my work phone to send texts via my personal phone either thru bluetooth/wifi/ or data.
We finally just got new Motorola Droid X2s for our work phones but we have no texting plans on our phones. So I wanted to be able to use texting via my personal phone so I dont have to check both phones all the time.
The only app I have found so far is TexTab but the tablet option is basically tablet only (go figure) and the ui for it is cluttered and sucks to use on a phone.
So does anyone know of anything else that may work?

Sorry but so far I know there isn't an app for that. I've tried this a month before with my Ace and my Mini Pro but I didn't found anything...
Last night I tried a few ROMS. Had an issue or two and went back to stock. Now, if I miss an SMS, I get a badge on my message app, as expected. However now when I miss a call, I no longer get a badge on my phone app. Am I crazy and imagining that this worked before?
I am using stock apps for everything on the stock ROM. Stock launcher, SMS app, stock dialer, etc..

Could someone give this a whirl and let me know? Just dial your phone, don't answer it, and tell me if you get a badge on your phone icon showing the missed call counts. Again, only with stock launcher / apps. It works for email / sms.. but not calls. I can't decide if i'm crazy for thinking this worked , or if I managed to break something.
My phone icon in the stock launcher does not have a badge when I miss a call. However, it does show the missed call on the lockscreen and in the notification bar.

Hey guys.
What Im looking for is a nice SMS app that goes will with my moto ICS and ExDialer. For those of you who dont know, ExDialer is a clone of the MIUI dialer.
So what I want is something that looks nice, and preferably similar to the ExDialer. I dont need a ton of fancy functions. It needs to send texts, period. I used to use Go SMS, but its not entirely right for me.
There was an ExMessenger being developed, but it seems like it never made the finishline.
Anyways, recommendations?

GO SMS is pretty good, IMHO
My first post says that I'm moving away from Go SMS.
The default one in MIUI is very neat too. But stock is very nice!
Yeah I just ended up using the stock one. I sort of overlooked it since I ran straight to GO SMS when I installed ICS, as Ive been using GO before.
I use VZMessages. It does have options for syncing with a tablet through wifi if you're so inclined. I sync with my Galaxy Tab. Plus I like the notification pop up.
