Volume+ worked wonders for me.

Best free app I've tried that actually did anything was Equalizer by Smart Android Apps, LLC. Seems to work similar to DSP Manager, just less overall functionality.
Worked pretty good boosting volume in a movie I was just playing on my 3D.

Do you have to open this app every time for the volume to increase or once it is set higher you don't have to open the app anymore?
You won't have to open again

Is there anything in the SDK that helps with this? I've always wondered how Google creates those nice videos showing off Android on devices.
Screen cast has trouble on 4.2.2 roms. You can try SCR Screen Recorder, really good, hd recording with mic. Requires root

Gotcha, I'm just looking for a good mp3 player, I use a lot when riding motorcycle.

Beats is just a eq setting and nothing more. I would just find an mp3 app that is visually nice, but also very very easy to use, since you said you are going to be on your bike( hopefully your not changing songs while moving of course).

I use Amazon MP3. It will play songs you haven't bought through Amazon. Apollo is nice too.

Not that I know of. But there's plenty of apps that can record the sounds your phone plays, and I'm not talking about using the mic.
