Hey everybody, Im kinda new to Xda so sorry if im messing up here haha. Ok so I S-Off'ed my device using AlphaRev X and when it was downloading the recovery rom it stopped. Now whenever i go into the recovery menu from HBOOT It pops up as a phone with a red triangle. I Help Volume up and Power to get to the Blue lettered menu and had no custom clockwork or anything. So when i rooted my device using gingerbreak i hoped it would give me Clockwork Mod or something and it didnt. So i finally used Rom manager and Flashed Clockwork and went to the recovery menu and still just no Clockwork stuff at the bottom or anything. Please help im trying to install CM7 but cant now because when i load a custom rom it shows the phone downloading then stops at about 25%. Sorry for such a long thread> Hahaha
Go search android flasher 1.8 on xda it can flash recoveries in less than 5 min.
Signatures are fancy.
AlphaRevX does not automatically install CWM for you. Moh_Jay's method should work to install it, however if you prefer the "manual" method (which isn't difficult at all if you know how to get adb/fastboot working), you can follow the steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694 (specifically just the first 6 steps)
it's how.!
Tutorial:
Windows
You must follow the steps in order, I am not held liable in case of technical problems or guarantee.
If you have any questions do not hesitate!
1) X AlphaRev
1) Go to the site alpharev.nl/x/beta/
2) Put the information.(Serial Number: Menu / Settings / About phone under the battery) ( Do not forget to copy your beta key )
3) Enable USB Debugging (System Settings / Applications / Development)
4) Connect your phone
5) Unzip the downloaded file and run the program (alpharevx)
6) Take in the beta key that was given
Wait, you're S-OFF
2) Install ClockworkRecovery
Rooter has used your phone and install a custom ROM.
You will need:
- The Android SDK
- The fastboot HTC (fastboot.exe) developer.htc .com/adp.html
- The ClockworkRecovery HTC Aria
1) Install the SDK
2) Create a folder in the Android root of your hard drive (C: \ Android)
3) Go to C: \ Program Files \ Android \ android-sdk \ platform-tools.Copy C: / files adb.exe Android / AdbWinApi.dll / AdbWinUsbApi.dll
4) Unzip the Htc aria recovery.img and copy and paste (C: / Android)
5) Copy and paste the fastboot HTC in the same folder (C: / Android)
7) Start on your HTC bootloader (Power + Volume Down)
8) Select "fastboot" with the power button
9) Plug in USB
10) Open cmd
11)
cd C : / Android
*enter
12) fastboot flash recovery recovery . img
entry
You should see:
Sending 'recovery' ... OKAY
writing 'recovery' ... OKAY
Select 'Reboot' with the keys for volume down / power up and to validate
HTC will restart, you can disconnect.
3) Rooter
1) Download mediafire.com/?0a4abln7x3gjgrv and copy the archive to the root of your SD card
2) Turn off your HTC and restart in recovery mode (power + volume down and select recovery)
To select : Trackball
Up / Down : Volume Keys
Back : Back Button
3) Select "install zip from sdcard"
4) Then "Choose zip from sdcard"
5) Then "su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip"
6) Then 'Yes - install su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip "
7) Now go back and reboot
I did this Friday night after a month of lurking in the shadows and it took me all of maybe and hr to s-off, load Clockwork mod, root, and flash my ROM with liberated 2.2.2.
I know im rooted. But not sure about Rom flash. I still had bloatware from at&t and the AT&T icon in the notification bar. looking at software info it still says 2.2.2 shouldn't say something else? battery is going quickly any suggestions. sorry i didnt mean to intrude on this thread.

Hey guys,
I am new to the forum. I recently got a dell streak as a gift. It was bought from Hong Kong. Apparently I couldnt officially upgrade it through the internet. I had to go to this place to get the official upgrade. Obviously I dont live in Hong Kong, so I couldnt do that. Could someone plz tell me how to upgrade it? Thanks. Here are the info.
Firmware verison 2.1-update1
Baseband version GAUSB1A120321-EU
Kernel version 2.6.29-perf
OEM Version STREAK.ANDROID.HK
PS I have searched online for a solution. There is a lot of solutions out there. I really dont know which one I should use. Could someone tell me the easiest or straightforward way to update to 2.2? And what is the newest DJ steve 2.2 version is? Lastly where can I download all the required software?
Streakdroid . Com has a nice easy to follow video guide.

Latest Streakdroid ROM
If you want to upgrade to the latest Streakdroid ROM (1.6.0), either from the QDLTool install or from the latest official build, you can follow these steps:
1. Go to the downloads section and grab StreakMod Recovery, the latest 1.6.0 Update and the AMSS for 1.5.1+ (the update and amss are under Roms, StreakMod Recovery is under Recovery)
2. Copy the update-1.6.0.zip file onto the root of your SD card.
3. If you are wanting to change from the default install options, create the install config file and place on the SD card as well.
4. Extract recovery.img from the StreakMod recovery and place it, along with amss.mbn, into the same directory as QDLTool (QDLTool has a copy of fastboot)
5. Shut down your Streak, then hold down the camera button (all the way) as you turn it back on.
6. The screen should turn white; press ‘Fastboot’ in the top right hand of the screen.
7. Plug in the USB cable – the Streak should now display ‘FASTBOOT_MODE’ at the bottom of the screen.
8. Open a command window and use ‘cd’ to change to the same directory as qdltool.
9. Run: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
10. Run: fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
11. Run: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
12. As the Streak starts to reboot, hold down both volume buttons.
13. The recovery menu should come up; select option 2 (Upgrade)
14. A Dell logo and an exclamation mark should appear; press power or menu to open StreakMod’s main menu
15. Select ‘apply sdcard:update.zip’ then ‘chose zip on sd card’
16. Find the update-1.6.0.zip file, select it and apply the zip.
17. When the update finishes, press back a couple of times then select the option to reboot your Streak.
18. The Streak will restart. It will take about 5 minutes to complete, but you are now on the latest v1.6.0
I think I know how to do the first one. But I am not sure which instruction to follow. Sorry guys. This is my first time doing anything like this. So do I need to use QDL tools or fastboot, if Im upgrading from my current verision. Btw wt option would ppl recommend to install. cheers.
PS can I just upgrade from my current version straight to StreakDroid 1.81 or do I need to get the older verision first?
Follow the one on Streakdroid or follow the instructions on the forum guide to upgrading/downgrading your streak so you would not need to use QDL Tool.

Hi. I feel your pain. I went through a week of reading forums and websites before I figured it all out.
I don't have time to write you a detailed step by step guide right now, but let me give you the gist of upgrading.
1) You need to flash a custom installer to the phone that will let you install a custom rom like 1.81. The one a lot of people use is called streakmod. These custom installers are usually called "recovery.img". This is achieved by booting the phone holding the camera button down. Once you are in fastboot mode, you can run fastboot.exe from your pc with some parameters to install the custom rom installer.
2) Once the custom rom installer is installed, you can flash to a custom rom like 1.81, by holding down power and the volume buttons and navigating the mini gui once it loads.
3) You can go straight to 1.81. Make sure you follow the instructions regarding the install text file. Avoid using the perfmod option in the install.txt file.
4) If the custom rom is not behaving right, then you should re-install the stock rom. This would require you to use fastboot.exe again and reflash back to the stock rom installer. Then reflash streakmod again and then your custom rom.
You can download the fastboot.exe and the recovery.img file that installs streakmod from:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15
Repairtool link will contain fastboot.exe and i think the recovery.img file in there is the one that will install streakmod. If not, then you can grab it from the link that says streakmod recovery beta.
One more thing. Aside from upgrading the rom installer and the actual rom, there is a third component called the baseband. This is the software that controls the actual phone capabilities of the phone. There is a link in there as well to a baseband file, but I'm not sure which versions of stock rom are supposed to upgrade to it. It's called AMSS 1.51+. I will let the experts here chime in on that. I installed it and my device was already at 2.2 from factory. It didn't seem to hurt anything.
But if you do have to install it, you would also use fastboot.exe with parameters. You would only have to do this one time, until they release a newer baseband.
It sounds daunting, but it really is not. Just need to understand the basics of what I outlined, and it will make sense.
This step I'm not sure if you need it or not. I did it because early on I thought I needed to root my device. Install the android drivers on your pc. The easiest way to do this is to install a tethering software called pdanet (free). This should be the very first thing you do.

To to google, in search type in SuperOneClick v1.1.5 go into settings>applications>development>USB debugging and make sure thats checked. Then go back to the superoneclick and click root. If that dont work try shutting down the phone and and once the phone is powered off click the root button in SOC when SOC says "waiting for device"go ahead and power your phone back on. And if that method also dont work then remove your memory card power on your phone and attempt to root again. Good luck!
Just done a search and come up with this http://software2tech.com/tag/superoneclick-1-5-5/
Is that what I need? Also what about a recovery image? Rom manager from, market?
Thanks

Right i managed to root pretty easily now im stuck as i need a recovery so can backup n download a rom ?
Any easier help in doing this......please
First things First.
A HUGE thanks to EVERYONE here in the community of XDA, you are FABULOUS guys, with all the helpful threads and answers, you are doing a FANTASTIC job!
Then, here's my problem:
2 days ago i bought my new HTC EVO 3D (GSM) and i decided to root.
This is the tutorial i used:
[Tutorial] [UNLOCK/ROOT] EVO 3D GSM Hboot 1.49.0011> + S-On [HTC Unlock method]
Everything went better then excepted, but here comes the problem.
I decided to install as my first rom, this one:
[ROM] Warm TwoPointThree - Release One [Sense3.5][12/31/2011] - Always Brilliant!
But at boot logo, nothing happens; i waited about - 30 mins? to load up, and... nothing.
I thought it was a bad flash or something, so i decided to change rom, and i picked this one:
[ROM]LeeDrOiD 3D V5.4[KERNEL] V5.4 2nd April |Aroma|Tweaks|Fast|Stable|Beats
Now things loads up good, and everything worked, but i decided to move on, and i picked this one:
☆ ★ | ROM | InfectedROM Eternity™ | TESTING | NIGHTLYS | 3.5 | XE BEATS | ★ ☆
That gave me a strange error. Kind of "boot-loop". When bootscreen appears for the first time, i wait for it to load up everything - 20 mins? and after that another bootscreen appears, similar to the first one, but after 20 secs, it stops, (think it crashes) and starts again! again and again.
I Thought it was a bad flash or something (but i dont think so, because i downloaded it 4 times, and checked it, and every single download was good, giving me the same boot error) and i decided to choose another rom:
[ROM] MIUI 2.3.7 - EVO 3D GSM + AOSP/SENSE KERNEL[cile381]
But same error, bootscreen gets stuck, and after 30 mins i decided to go back to stock rom.
So, this is the problem.
Now i'll give you some info:
Every time i install a new rom, i perform a full wipe (data/chance/dalvik)
When i installed InfectedROM i used their InfectedWIPE tool to wipe everything.
My actual version of Android is 2.3.4 and my Sense is 3.0 (i don't know if it has something to do, but it might be useful...) on stock ROM.
Can somone please help me? It's kind of frustrating to keep on flashing all these ROMs and seeing that nothing works fine!

you mean that before flashing the roms above i should flash a new kenel? o.o
with a little of search ability, i was able to download and install Flash Image GUI, then i flashed AntraX Kernel vers. 2.3.4 (from InfectedROM) and.... bam, infinite boot-loop! what should i do?
now i restored my backup, but if its AntraX kernel the problem, why it appens with MIUI ROM that use a different one?
Certain kernels only work with certain roms. Make sure you are using a kernel recommended by the rom developer.
Which rom are you running? Anthrax is not for all roms
Do the following
I've had this problem before.
Before you start you must have a custom rom with boot loop flashed
Do the following:
1. Download this file to your computer, unzip it, and put it on your desktop.
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/HTCEvo3D/rooting/rootevo3dnew.zip
2. Open up the "rootevo3dnew" file you placed on your desktop.
3. Open up and install the HTC Drivers. ( File name is HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe)
4. Once the drivers are installed, you need to restart.
------- Phone side---------
After your computer reboots, start up your EVO 3D into HBOOT. (Power down, take out battery, put back in, hold down power and volume down simultaneously until a white screen comes up.)
1. Once in HBOOT click the power button on the selection "FASTBOOT"
2. Now plug your phone into your PC.
-------Computer side----------
5. Get your ROM zip you flashed on your PC and unzip it.
6. On the root of the ROM file you should see a boot.img file. Extract it to the rootevo3dnew file on your desktop.
7. Now open command prompt.
8. Navigate to your rootevo3dnew file by typing cd desktop/rootevo3dnew/
9. now type fastboot boot boot.img
10. The phone should boot normally into the rom.
Thank you cburk01 for the answer, but i worked out something similar that i found on an old post, and now my evo 3d is fine.
try this:
1. go to recovery > wipe & factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, go to mounts and storage, wipe system, data, cache, sd card... everything u can find there... wipe all..
2. in recovery DO NOT REBOOT, turn off phone
3. go to android development of evo 3d gsm, find a rom, for example mikrunny 1.06, open the archive extract the boot.img from the kernel folder.
4. assuming u have android sdk installed on ur computer, make a new folder and from the android sdk tools copy adb.exe, fastboot.exe, adbwinapi.dll (exact same files u used to unlock bootloader). also in this folder put that boot.img you extracted from the rom
5. put that folder in C:\
6. get back to phone , still DO NOT BOOT UP YET, and power up phone in bootloader mode (vol down & power) and go to fastboot
7. connect phone to pc in fastboot usb mode
8. open command prompt, type cd c:\"folder" ("folder" = folder u created with the sdk tools)
9. type in cmd: fastboot flash boot boot.img
10. after it's completed, go to recovery, still do not boot up phone
11. in recovery go to mounts and storage, usb storage and now copy the whole rom and nothing but the rom on the sd card
12. install zip from sdcard, select rom and let it install, it should boot up automatically
Click to collapse
From: HERE
Thanks everyone for the answers, i love you guys!
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Ok here's what has happen you've lost your boot.IMG and this what you will have do to reinstall it first you will have to go to your pc or laptop and the Rom you've flashed you will have to xtract the zip file and then open that xtracted folder and scroll down and you will see your boot.IMG now you will have to copy it into same folder that you have your adb and your fastboot next open up command promt and typ your command to get into fastboot drivers going and once your in typ fastboot flash boot boot.img and then your EVO will boot

Hey, If you are S-ON you have to do one step more. Go as to my sequence.
I assume you have already downloaded fastboot, drivers and android in your pc. And your phone is bootloader unlocked via HTC dev method and rooted, CWM installed. So ..
You need these : SuperWipe (To wipe data) , A Custom ROM ( I suggest Mwakious Demcritous 3D v7.0) / Put these to your sdcard root and Get a copy of these on your PC hard drive too.
1. First go to your recovery menu ( Here its CWM) and select Install from zip file.
2. Select the SuperWipe.zip and click OK, this wipes all your data.
3. Now again select install update from Zip file on recovery . Select the Custom ROM zip file from the sdcard and click install.
4. Then youll see its getting installed. Once its done select turn off your Phone from recovery menu.
5. BOOT IN TO BOOTLOADER Menu now. (Holding vol down + power) , DO NOT TURN ON YOUR PHONE OR YOU'LL get STUCKED in BOOT LOOP
6. Connect the phone to the PC, then bootloader menu will say --> Connected via USB
8. Now unzip the same ROM file youve got in your Hard Drive. Once done find a file called "boot.img" inside that unzipped folder.
9. Now open up a cmd, go to you android tools location (eg: C:/>Program Files/Android)
10. Type > fastboot devices ( If this shows some result which makes any sense proceed to step 11)
11. Now type the below command on the CMD.
"fastboot flash boot C:\<Location you've extracted the zip>\Mwakious3DRom.v.7.0\boot.img"
12.If the result says DONE, you are good to go.
13. Turn off the phone and On it now
14. You should be logged in without a problem, guaranteed !!! Otherwise let me know
Thanks

Thank You Very Much And Where Can I Find This ROM?
-------------------------
BOOTLOADER
-------------------------
First, you must unlock the bootloader so that we can modify the kernel and use custom roms. To do this, you must go to The HTC Developer Website and follow the instructions.
WARNING: This usually voids your warranty.
Pre-requisite for rooting:
Setup an Android Development Environment by clicking here.
-------------------------
ROOTING
-------------------------
In order to install custom roms, you must first root.
Follow these steps to root:
1.) Download Amon Ra here.
2.) Next, load your phone into bootloader (as you did in unlocking it)
3.) Click "Fastboot" using the power button.
4.) Plug your phone into your computer.
5.) Open a command prompt (Start > CMD) or (Start > Run > CMD)
6.) Run the command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery (file directory)\amonra.img
-Of course you'll want to replace "(file directory)\amonra.img" with the location and file name of the amon ra you just downloaded.
7.) Now, get out of fastboot by clicking "Bootloader" or "Restart Bootloader".
8.) Select "Recovery".
9.) Now, your Rezound will load up the Amon Ra software we've just installed. Go down to "Developer menu" and press power. Then, select "Install su & superuser" and press power. Once it has finished, you've rooted.
Prerequisite to flashing custom rom:
You must download the files needed:
For S-ON Gingerbread Devices: Download The Rom, the PH98IMG.zip, AND the GB Firmware Patch
For S-OFF Gingerbread Devices: All of the above except the PH98IMG.zip file.
For S-ON/S-OFF ICS Devices: Same rule as above applies, except you don't have to download the GB Firmware Patch.
After downloading these files, reboot into Recovery.
-------------------------
FLASHING CUSTOM ROM
-------------------------
The next step is the one you want to do now. Flash the custom rom you want running on your device. Do this by following the steps below:
First, we must clear the cache. In Recovery, go to "Wipe", and choose "Wipe ALL data/factory reset", "wipe /cache" and "wipe Dalvik-cache". You will be prompted to delete each set of files.
Now, go back to the main menu of Amon Ra (Press return until you're at the main menu)
Choose "Install files from zip" and choose "SD card".
Now, choose the ROM you want to install, and install it. Also, if you're on Gingerbread, install the GB Firmware Patch the same way you installed the rom just now.
When it's done, reboot into bootloader. When you do this, the phone will automatically install the PH98IMG.zip file (the kernel). From here, you should be home free! Load up your phone normally and set up your accounts as you would out-of-box.
ISSUES:
If you don't install the GB Firmware Patch and were running Gingerbread, you could have problems such as the device restarting when it attempts to connect to Google or other services involving the mobile network.
If you have any questions or issues, please post a reply and I will attempt to help you to the best of my ability!
