Look, either the CPU gets overclocked or not; other than that, SetCPU or any other method has absolutely no influence on performance.
Read the sticky threads before asking more questions like this because if you had done that, you would have known that with stock kernel there is NO OVERCLOCKING!

Thanks for quick reply
I am not aware of this kernel & custom roms.
I have seen in this forum if u install kernel u will get good performance. But i dont know how to do this? can u provide me some link?

u need to flash custom recovery first
then flash roms and kernels that u like...
i suggest u flash amonra 2.2.1 recovery...

Just read the tutorial on the very first page.
Btw check out CPUtuner on market. Its free and is very much customisable.

[Q] How to overclock stock ROM? SetCPU shows max as 600

I recently rooted my O1 using Ginger break. It rooted successfully. Now when I installed SetCPU (which I downloaded frm xda), it shows the maximum freq as 600MHz. I am on stock ROM and don't plan to change it before seeing the official Gingerbread release. I just want to know if it is possible to overclock on the stock ROM using SetCPU or any other tool.

Install a custom recovery and flash a custom kernel (such as franco). Do not ask how, covered in multiple places.
AFAIK the stock rom doesn't allow for overclocking.

As already said above in my post (and also in my signature), overclocking is a matter of kernel and not of ROM.

1)You can do whatever you want, there are no "basic steps"
Just i suggest you to get used with the stock rom and with android for about one or two weeks and then start rooting and/or installing custom roms...
2)No, not necessarly... You can use basically every custom rom and it will have lagfixes and overclock capable kernel...
3)What do you mean for clean things?
4)Yeah, if you keep staying with the stock rom you'll need it, otherwise when you will switch to a custom rom you will be ok
Thanks for your answer. please name some good custom rom which not buggy.

Well, you could give a try to the devoid #froyo-final or to Nessy #Jince... These two are the "simplest" IMHO... But there are a lot of good froyo roms out there: OpenOptimus, LOL 1.4.2 et cetera...
The reason why you are not getting a lot of specifics is that most of the 2.2 ROMs are very stable, fast with good battery life. It is mainly personal preference at this point.
openOptimus which uses Franco's kernel has most if not all of the tweeks in it. You would probably want to use Darktremor's Apps2SD to make use of the SD card. (A link is provided in the openOptimus thread.)
PS I can not suggest devoid.Franco as Franco is no longer updating it. Once the 2.3 source is released, most if not all development will be on 2.3. In fact, the shift has started with the leaked 2.3 ROM. The existing 2.3 ROMs are good but they have known problems/unresolved issues. I expect that these issues will be resolved over the next couple of months.

do you want to root?
Use gingerbreak apk file if you are using currently froyo 2.2.2
or use z4root for 2.2 or 2.2.1
download rom manager at market.
2. Best custom rom which is not buggy and capable to overclock. Do i need gingerbread custom rom?
mik_os' cyanogenmod 7
plus if you want battery life more, flash franco kernal and wipe dalvik cache and charge till 100percent the wipe battery stats
3. Do i need of custom rom or just need to root and install other hack manually for clean things? Please suggest me on this topic i know this will gave me more headache
if you are lazy to flash a custom rom but just want to overclocking
download overclock at market.
download rom manager its a must.

My issue with these custom roms
Before ranting about my relatively bad experiences with custom roms, I'd like to thank the community for its hard work to make our experience a little more enjoyable.
So I bought the Optimus One and messed with it until I recently discovered custom roms for it. I payed $150 for the smartphone so I decided to get a little more out of it thinking that I got a great deal.
I've tried several custom roms but they're either extremely buggy, drain the battery too quickly or are just not stable enough to use at times you need it the most. Now who am I to say this? Just a user. I should stay out of this and stick with stock roms if I'm not happy. Right. But I'd like to know why so many people trip over these incomplete custom roms when they take the good thing of what a smart phone should be... A smart phone! I get almost no battery life with ciaox's rom, he brags about having the most "performant" rom out there and insults people who try to create something more stable. Who cares about overclocking your P500 when you can't leave the house without charging it? I know that there are several tweaks that can be added to the P500 without even needing to overclock, which makes a noticeable difference in the UI but I can still say that battery life sucks and/or the OS is unstable.
Is there a STABLE rom that takes MINIMAL energy with more PERFORMANCE than stock? I do not care about 3d games because this phone is not made for that, no matter how much you try to convince yourself that it can be.
Thanks
Have you tried Mik_os CM7, I get good results with it, Ive never used anything by Ciaox

I'm currently on Mik_os CM7 which i find to be the best custom rom but the battery drain is too high.
Use devoid froyo..its mch better den cm7..nd there is no battery drain in it

Hmmm.... Use the v20c from my signature? If you want to remove crapware, flash signed_decrapify_v20c.zip (attached), run
Code:
$ su
# appinst
from terminal emulator and uninstall whatever you want.
Result? Stock rooted 2.3.3, stock kernel, crapware removed.

Ofcourse thats possible! i hav the exact same thing in fact.
Official GB 2.3.3 V20C, rooted with super one click, flashed cwm recovery, threw out all the crapware (if u r referin to useless apps)! ---> is this is what u meant!
Added the script above. Only for stock v20c ROM. If something breaks, your own fault.
great, is it possible to have stock kernel with just oc enabled?

Hi,
I am from India, and using official stock rom v20c 2.3.3. I want to overclock my phone for playing lag free games. Can anyone suggest me how can I do.. what kernel i have to use so that I would not like to face battery drain, overheat, Problem with 3g or wifi, hotspot, tethering issues.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT before flashing custom kernel please tell me how to backup my official kernel.... so that if in case i will go back to the stock one.
Please share the link of custom kernel.
Is there any need to backup phone data such as apps, contacts ,messages, etc.?
one thing I also want to know that what kernel do.. what is its main role..?
Thanks in advance..

IMHO most stable kernel is paolo v5/v6, it overclocks quite good (with external app - e.g. No-frills), no problem with tethering (wifi or usb) or 3g. I think v5 has a little longer battery life.
To backup stock kernel you need to make nandroid backup (that creates backup of everything on your phone and in case of restoring, it will overwrite every change you made on phone since backup). To do that you need recovery (I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery, but there is also other recovery somewhere in our P500 thread).
Recovery is also needed to install new kernel. There is short guide how to do that in kernel thread (you need to install downloaded zip). New kernel doesn't wipe your msgs, contacts or apps if you made no mistakes.
Custom kernels do few things: fixes bugs made by lg, boost phone performance (different kernels give more or less boost), unlocks overclocking, changing governors (controls CPU clock transitions, and therefore battery life and smoothness) and scheduler (i have too little knowledge about android to say, what it should do, but i observed no difference between schedulers), gives you better battery life, fix touch lag (but not multitouch inversion lag bug).
You should try Paolo's and Franco's kernels and choose which one fits you better. Franco's need app to use wifi tethering but is faster than Paolo's.
I experienced more restarts on paolo's v6 and franco's than on v5 (my favourite so far, but there is also new paolo's based kernel that I haven't tested yet).
To install recovery (and kernel) you need root.
All needed instructions and links are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
AND MOST IMPORTANT THING - ALWAYS DO WHAT INSTRUCTIONS SAY AND DO NOT INSTALL KERNEL THAT IS NOT INTENDED FOR YOUR ROM, SO READ AND INSTALL CAREFULLY.

Hey Indian user, don't be afraid of flashing Kernel, you can always change it.. and I went twice to service centre with CWM 5.2.0... OC-480-729... franco's .35 kernel ... and they didn't came to know anything... but if you give them a phone with custom ROM then the'll reject it..
Abhinav i m a newbie to android.. actually i m an IT person.. n understands what u r saying but i m feeling afraid of doing any thing wrong bcoz i have already bricked my phn earlier while flashing gb through kdz.. so its very important for me to under the process first...
As per ur suggestion.. plz correct me or help me if i m wrong:
Firstly i have to download adb n install over my xp based pc..
Secondly in adb i have to run adb push command for sending the database file to the phn...
STOP..... WHAT file IS THAT DB IS...? N from where i get this.. i mean where did i get this stock recovery,? in which format is the recovry is?
And how the process will be run .. n how the clockwork recovery is replaced with stock one.. i have tried the combination of three buttons at startup in stock rom but no menu opens instead the phn will forcefully reset. so where is the official recovery?.
Help me plz expain how to do n for what to do in each n every step...
Is it true that after installing cw recovry n custom kernel we cant do a kdz stock flash..... Confirm me that after having custom kernel.. it should not lead the phone in non detecting position.. n if kdz works n can remove both kernel n cw recovery too then i think this is much easier ... i had seen a lot of post that o1 bricked by kdz flashing gb.... so if it possible then i have decided to flash froyo first n then update the phone via pc suite.... help me.... plzzz
Sent from my [email protected] OpTiMu$ On€ [email protected]
yes if u flashed a cutom kernel a custom recovery or a custom rom you can use kdz just turn on the usb debugging mode in setting>application>development to flash official stock froyo or official gb.. by using kdz method everything will be reverted back to stock recovery, kernel, rom, everything.. i suggest you to firstly flash the stock froyo using kdz method so you will be psychologically satisfied that you can go to stock

don't think that that kernel allows o/c (i may be wrong) look at the thread for that kernel... i'm using 2.1 and think the link is in my signature. Flashing any custom kernel will give you root by default unless otherwise stated by the dev. so you won't lose root access by flashing another kernel. There are other kernels too look around there usually top of the thread because there really popular. Good luck

You would have to read the thread as to weather you can o/c and how far. Im not sure. As for root apps issue you shouldnt have any although they may need su access granting again.
