Many things show up as incompatible. You need to side-load the apk.

There was a working tutorial for fring around here. I'll see if I can find it.

Fring & Skype Test AIT 101
I've tested the newest Versions of Skype and Fring. Only Fring has shown video, and that was in a testing scenario.
Fring-The feed appeared choppy and laggy.
Sype-Other person in the call(which i attempted repeatedly to make VideoChat from both ends) could hear me perfectly aside from the echo from the speakers(just add headphones) but I wasn't visible, and neither was he.
Archos IT 101
Try SipDroid VideoSMS
Yahoo Messenger with Video plugin works.
Have you tried reelportal? It uses Adobe Air. I tried it on my phone, but I can't remember if I tried it on the Archos (which I don't have available right now to check). It's a bit different from most other options, but it does let you video chat to PCs.

Can we not use gmail video chat to do face time?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
are you talking facetime as in apple? I think they only allow face time with other apple users
Well. You know how Google has a webcam video chat on gmail via webcam/laptop. Thunderbolt has front facing video camera. why couldn't we use gmail video chat on thunderbolt to talk to people on PC or laptop. Sorry if it is a dumb question.

Hmmmm... I wonder if the Honeycomb GTalk app would enable video chat... I'll try to decompile and fix for 2.2. First I need the apk...any links?

i have a xoom at work that we are testing, I will try to pull the .apk from google talk via titanium backup tomorrow since I have not rooted that device.
I was video chatting on my Xoom to my girlfriend the other night. I forget if it was the in the Talk app or not, pretty sure.
As far as "FaceTime", you can video chat with people using Tango and Yahoo Messenger for now, and Skype (with video calling) is coming soon.

I have definitely used video chat on my Xoom from the Talk app.
Let Google Know
I found a thread asking Google to please get video chat rolling here in the Google support forums.
Yeah I don't know if the Honeycomb GTalk app would just work on Froyo considering that GTalk is apparently heavily baked into a lot of Android features. But this would be an amazing feature. Maybe more people would finally start using GTalk too since it's hard to get my friends to kick their SMS addiction.
Since I've gotten my thunderbolt I haven't been able to successfully video chat using any applications. And I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if it was just me

I'm using Qik on CM7.
The only issue it has is the fact that the other party sees me upside down.

The leaked version of Skype worked alright on mine
Tango works ok with crappy quality with iBoners and an atrix
Sent from my ADR6400L
has anybody used the new fring group chat or qik app? how are those working?
The leaked Skype works great, sound is alot better than Tango. Also the Skype works with Bluetooth which I could never get with Tango. I just can't get it to work on CM7, but I just got gTalk to work on CM7. Haven't been able to test it out but it installs and says I'm avaliable for audio and video chat. Ill update once I get home and check tho.
(Edit-- well gTalk looked good, but it was force-close city and no video. Tried clearing cache and fix permissions, but still no go. Back to Dad BAMF and Skype video for now, I guess.)

You know there was also a similar problem worth the xoom. You may want to look at how they got gtalk to work.
Yep, the leaked Skype is probably one of the best options at the moment, until we get Google's upcoming video chat, at least.

I didnt think the leaked version of Skype was secure.
In this article on Droid-Life, it specifically states: "NO, the leaked Skype with video has not been fixed."

So, is it safe to be using the leaked version?

Fring works for me and my girlfriend.
Skype acquired Qik, and the latter has video chat capability.
Not sure if its the best one in the Android market though...

That's because you didn't read the previous threads very well.
You installed version 2.0.0.47
The verison that supports video calling for EVO 3D ( Hacked version) is 2.0.0.45. If you update to version 2.0.0.47 you can NO LONGER use video calling on the EvO 3D because it's not officially supported yet.
Skype sucks.
uninstall 47 on Evo3D...video now works
I had (apparently) updated skype to .47 I used market to uninstall, then installed the downloaded .45 version.
When I ran that version it got to the login point and said I had to reinstall skype...
I realized that the original skype client was still running in the background.
I used Task Manager, looked at all running services, and stopped it there.
I then again tried to install the download, this time it took and logged me in.
Then it showed contacts and had an icon if video was available.
So I clicked on this laptop, and boom skype video over wifi!
Then I turned off wifi and tried again...it was obviously slower and choppier and skype complained, but it did show the two way video!
Thanks to all involved!
Skype and 3D
Can someone confirm if the EVO 3D can send 3D video using skype (if both side got a 3D smartphone) ?
I would say no, and even if it could it would force you to use the two cameras on the back. You can't do 3d video with one lense, so with both parties pointing the back two cameras at themselves how would you see what's on the screen?
Oovoo is a video calling that I use to see my friends and it isn't supported for Atrix, is it possible someone could like crack the app and make it so it will run on the Atrix?

On my atrix it shows the FFC in the top left. Here everything looks great. But when you connect to someone else, their video of you is turned up side down. Anyone else getting this?
