Itunes Or Windows Media Player - HTC EVO 3D

Just got Lord of the Rings on Blu-Ray and it came with a digital copy of all 3 movies, I can either download it for Itunes or Windows Media Player. Will the Itunes one work on my Evo 3d?

although i dont know if itunes will work but i think it will, its because today is the first time i watch lord of the rings, which movie is the best?

HTC sync allows you to sync your phone with iTunes, so it may be that easy. It'll probably be a .mp4 file which can be played on the EVO 3D. No guarantees though, I can't say I've actually tried it. I'll get out a movie I have that came with digital copy and try it tonight if you want to wait.
EDIT: 3 minutes left for it to finish downloading to iTunes.
EDIT: Sync in progress

File in iTunes is in .m4v format, and it does copy to the EVO 3D if you tell it to sync with music from iTunes, but I haven't found a .m4v player in the marketplace that will play it yet.

Thanks, appreciate you testing that out. Wonder if you can convert the file before transferring it to the EVO.

I use DoubleTwist and it plays all my itunes.

So long as you find the file in your iTunes folder, you should be able to convert it over into just an .mp4 format. I was able to with one of the first digital copies I had.

Yep, you can convert it, I found out right before my power and internet connection went out. There are some free converters if you google it and some tutorials on youtube.
I just tested out doubleTwist suggested by ScottyBeGood, and it didn't work for the digital copy I'm testing with.

My bad. Works for most itune files.

No worries, it's probably because it's a protected m4v file or something, I forget the technical term for it.

More information would be good.
What format are your movies?
You might try a media player from the market, I use Rock Player and it handles everything I have thrown at it so far.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
They are usually in mp4v. They are digital copies that I have in iTunes and in Windows Media player.
Convert said movies to Mpeg4... Mount TB to disk drive.. Create a folder and call it movies... Dump MPEG4 movies into folder. ENJOY!
i wonder if your issue is DRM related, were they purchased from iTunes store or imported into your iTunes library?
I would like to be able to stream movies from my network server. I've got the SMB share mounted, but RockPlayer seems to struggle with 1080p and 720p content.
I've tried PS3 Media Server and transcoding the content down, but that's not happening either.

There are conversion programs to put it in mp4, just Google it and you'll find one.
It is a drm related issue. When you download the digital copies from the blu-ray disc that have that option, you are asked which format you want to download Itunes or wmv and they come with drm protection to only play on those devices (ipod, itouch, iphone or zune) or pc.
They are also protected from being converted. Im sure they can be converted but your everyday program will not do it. you need a program to break protection and then convert to same or another format.
Going to second the DRM issue. Sounds like you should get an iPod Touch or iPad for movie watching.
Even with my old Droid, I preferred watching movies on the iPod Touch just for the battery life (7hrs video).
If you're looking for converters iSquint is my favorite mac based converter, haven't found many solid PC ones.
Look at Subsonic, it's an awesome app and you can stream any media from your pc to your phone. mp3, mkv, avi, etc... I use it all the time and love it.

appears to only do music :-\
and orbs quality is just terrible lol
There's ways to break the drm on the blurays you purchased. However, that is more of a matter for other forums and websites. If you google around you'll find information. If they are truly your bought and purchased copies, you should have a right to do what you want with them as long as you're using them for your own devices.

Go to knowyourcell.com. I don't know if they have the Thunderbolt listed yet on that site, but every movie I converted per their instructions for my EVO works great on my thunderbolt. It's all free, even the software to convert, and tells you what format everything needs to be in.
Hit the link below and it will give you all of the instructions you should need. Again, I know its for the Evo, but every movie I converted for my Evo works great on my Thunderbolt. They dont have a seperate tutorial for the thunderbolt yet.

Hope that helps!

I have successfully been utilizing ffmpeg on my Linux box to encode for moto-droid.
unfortunately these files don't appear to be supported on TB
source file info:
$ file TEST.HDTV.XviD.avi
TEST.HDTV.XviD.avi: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 624 x 352, 23.98 fps, video: XviD, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (stereo, 48000 Hz)
encode script example:
$ cat testscript.sh
#!/bin/sh
ffmpeg -y -i $1 -acodec libfaac -ab 160k -s 720x480 -aspect 16:9 -vcodec libx264 -b 500k \
-qcomp 0.6 -qmin 16 -qmax 51 -qdiff 4 -flags +loop -cmp +chroma -subq 7 -refs 6 -g 300 \
-keyint_min 25 -rc_eq 'blurCplx^(1-qComp)' -sc_threshold 40 -me_range 12 -i_qfactor 0.71 \
-directpred 3 outputTEST.mp4
exit
syntax:
./testscript.sh TEST.HDTV.XviD.avi
I haven't played with other resolutions...but was disappointed that TB wouldn't even play
tests were performed on a standard (un-rooted) TB.

iTunes & SGS2

How can I sync my iTunes playlists with my SGS2?
Try iSyncr

as far as i know, you can't do this, the itunes music or movies has DRM protection. you only can play them on apple products.

They stopped DRM'ing Music a long time back, their movies are still DRM'd.
There are a number of options for sync'ing with iTunes, search the forums here, others have detailed methods (I'm not an iTunes user, so can't really help).
To be honest I think the best advice is to break the shackles and just tag your collection properly. Then it'll work with everything that isn't Apple with simple sideloading, and still work with Apple via iTunes.
the best way is copy all your music tracks, copy and paste to SD card, done. there's not much you need to do, just drag and drop.
As someone else has said, you can use iSyncr if all you're interested in is syncing playlists. Another option (and one that I use) is Salling Media Sync, which lets you sync iTunes playlists, podcasts and photos.
I use missing sync to sync my music folder in mac to sgs2. Works great

[Q]Transferring files from iTunes to GT10.1

So I use iTunes to aggregate all my music. I have been able to drag songs directly from iTunes to my HTC incredible without a problem since Ive had that phone.
I wanted to load music on my GT10.1 and once connected to the computer, I try to drag files from itunes to the music folder on the tab and it doesnt work. I have to find the files in windows explorer and drag them onto the tab.
And even then it has to convert the songs from Mp4 to mp3 format.
why is my 2 year old htc incredible able to do this but my brand new GT10.1 cannot.

iTunes = fail. Sorry, that doesn't help you but your real problem is not that you can't copy from itunes, it's that you use itunes. Use doubletwist or kies to transfer your music.

Forgot to mention, I also have a 120gb iPod. So I am not going to stop using iTunes. The majority of my music playing goes thru the iPod. But I do like to have some songs on my phone and tablet.
I've tried doubletwist. I don't like it.

[Q] iTunes Question

I currently own a bell ATRIX and was curious, if I purchase songs on iTunes can I just transfer them to my phone no questions ask?
You know you can get music for free, right?

Ya, I transfered all my old itouch music from to my phone and it works fine. The trick is finding where itunes saves your music

You can use an iTunes script to help automate the process. I use Itunesmywalkman I have certain music out of my library that I want on my Android, so I make a playlist in iTunes. Once I have itunesmywalkman installed, I plug in my android to my computer and it gives me the option to sync certain playlists from iTunes to my android, and it sorts all the music to nice folders just like itunes does. My iTunes library is on OSX 10.6, and I believe this script only works for the mac environment. But I'm guessing you can use something similar for PC.
Oh, and I don't think it works if you have DRM protected iTunes files (read, older .m4p files). But if you have the newer m4a files or mp3 files, there shouldn't be an issue.

How to play m3u file - Streaming on web

I have a lot of m3u files that link to a website to play. On windows I just use windows media player but I haven't been able to find one that works with Android.
The text inside the m3u file is something like this:

Thanks for any leads you may have.

You have playlists that link to an external source so I take it you do not own any of the mp3's associated with them? Why not just use one of the thousands of streaming sources available that work, Slacker Radio came as stock on the phone. Then there's Rhapsody, LastFM or iHeart Radio. Maybe one of them could import your m3u playlists. Last FM would be my best bet but its not free.

I have used a free market app called "just playlists" with limited success. It seems it likes to choose when it will and will not work for itself, though...
