program that allows streaming audio/ video from DLNA sources??? - HTC EVO 3D

so, there used to be a program called ORB that allowed you to stream audio/video/pictures from your home network devices to your evo4g; they stopped updating it awhile ago, and, it no longer works with 2.3.3
has anyone found a system/program, that allows you to stream stuff from your home DLNA compliant sources, to the EVO3d?
preferably, via 3g/4g, so it would work when you are away from your home wifi..
thanks so much!

Yes, it comes preinstalled on the EVO.. its called media server... When you click on gallery, you can touch the top bar and pick media server and it will search for available content...

unfortunately, it doesnt show any of the videos on my 2 DLNA compliant NAS boxes...
anyone else find anything?
thanks!

Try using iMediaShare, its a free app that works well on my PS3.

imedia share shows the nas boxes on my network, but, wont play any .mkv files, which is how I encode my bluray movies...
I guess I need a media player that plays .mkv files over the network...

I used iMediaShare with MoboPlayer and it plays mkv from DLNA sources. It stutter a little.

how do you get imedia share to use moboplayer?
I can't seem to get imedia share to see that I want to use moboplayer to play vids..
thanks!

I didn't have to do anything, it switched to MoboPlayer when I pick a mkv movie.

is the .mkv file on your phone, or on your home network server?
I need to see stuff on my home network server..
thanks

mkv is on my WDTV Live player. I'm streaming DLNA from the WDTV Live.
I was trying to stream with SMB to the Evo 3D but couldn't get it to work without it downloading the whole movie before it plays. My Archos 101 have no issue streaming 720p mkv through SMB.

Oh well, I guess I will keep looking. thanks for your suggestions!

I'm still looking for a solution to stream 3g/4g. Currently I can only stream on the LAN. Let me know if you find something.

its not DLNA, but you might try subsonic

[Q] Rzound and PS3 Media Server

Hoping someone can help me out with some info. I use PS3 Media Server to transcode files from my computer to my PS3. While playing around in the Gallery on my Rezound, I realized I could see my PS3 Media Server and all the movie/TV files that were on it. Problem is, I can't get any of them to play. It seems as it's streaming the incompatible .mkv file straight to my phone and not transcoding it. Anyone know what I can do to get this to work? Thanks!
same here.. it's because the ps3 codecs blow and can't handle avi files. try playing a 720p video you recorded on the phone... for some reason it'll work.. now try a 1080p... it won't work lol so it has to do with the fact ps3 can't handle certain codecs

I know it's not a direct answer to the question but I use Twonky(which does the decode for you) and I don't have a problem.

I'm not sure it has to do with codecs or avi files. The PS3 Media Server will transcode ANYTHING to my PS3, including mkv, avi, mpeg, etc. It just seems as though it's not transcoding to my Rezound. It's streaming the files, and the Rezound can't play them natively. I need to trick PS3 Media Server into treating the Rezound like the PS3 and transcode everything before it is sent over.

I may look into Twonky if I can't get this sorted out. Thing is, PS3 Media Server should do what I want.

man, you must have a magical PS3 then, because my PS3 does not play certain AVI, MKV, MP4 files whatsoever, and says "file type unsupported" lol..just google it, you'll see thousands of threads
By no means am I an expert, but ps3 media server on my Windows xp computer will steam about anything I throw at it. Now if you download additional codecs from some of the ps3 hacking forums, you can stream live tv from your computer. The ps3 can have problems, but when you transcode from ps3 media server, I rarely have a problem. Will see if I can get it working at home in a little bit. Peace.

I'm determined to get this working! I now see that PS3 Media Server is recognizing my phone as a Sony BluRay player, hence the reason it isn't transcoding to the phone. I now have to figure out how to make a conf file that properly recognizes my phone and transcodes to it instead of streaming.

"PS3 Media Server" is software that runs on the PC.
It uses the PC codecs to decode any media file then re-encode the media to a format compatible with the playback device, this is done on the fly.
ahhhhhhhhh lol my bad, i'm a tard.
perhaps i should get said media server. the way i've been doing it was just having my PS3 connect to my phone via DLNA; doing this, it won't play my phone vids unless they're 720..the others won't play
I don't use the PS3 media Server so forgive me if this is obvious, but does the "PS3" Media Server transcode to any and every device or just PS3's. My experience with Tversity (few years back) was that the user need to specify within the application, what to transcode for each device.

Streaming video from PC to TFP

I'm really struggling to get all my videos to stream and am looking for solutions. So far I've had the best luck with My Net and ES with Mobo but I still get several files that wont play audio at all or just loud static. Any ideas without having to convert all my files? Is there a clear list of audio and videos codecs that the TFP will play. I dug around for a bit but didnt find a definitive list.
Thanks!

Nothing beats PlayOn.
I have had great success with ES and MX Player but I haven't tried a lot of file types.
BSPlayer and Dice player WILL play anything you throw at them .. and they both have a Lan function to locate files on network shares without needing a seperate app.
I use Dice player and find it works like a charm. You can access a share directly from the app as mention by dannyb.
If you have dlna then try an app called UPNPLAY in combination with Dice player.... this is what I use to stream from my netgear nas.
With mx player you need to change to software encoding sometimes to get sound. Maybe the same with whatever you are using.

+1 on the BSPlayer. My NAS was really flaky on the DLNA and I wanted to play MKV files. BSPlayer worked a charm on SMB shares without add on software
PLEX! Run the server on your PC, load the app on any android device and stream. The nice thing about PLEX is that it uses your PC to decode, then streams to the device. This eliminates codec issues, and allows you to stream any file type to any device that supports the PLEX app. It also allows remote mobile connections, and is the best I've found, even on 3G. It also will work as a DLNA server, if you choose to bypass the PLEX app, although then decoding is done locally on the device.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried each but none work flawlessly. Either stuttering, low frame rates, bad compression, taskbar doesnt hide etc. I've used speed test and wifi analyzer and dont seem to have any issues there. I went and picked up a new ipad just to check it out (dont plan to keep it, really dont understand using a tablet and having to hold it all the time) and the boxee app is phenomenal. I saw they were hiring a lead android app developer so hopefully we'll see something soon but I'm not holding my breath. I'll keep digging and see what I can find.

Easy..... I stream videos from my PC to tablet daily. Get TVersity on your Desktop (it's free) and then download Skifta & MX Video on the prime, bothe are free too.
Depending on your router you may need to change port or QoS settings. but it works flawless, my gf even watches vids on her iPad2 while I'm on my prime.
Streaming may lag or fail if your router is crap or desktop is too slow....

[Q] cannot play videos via allshare or Skifta (Unsupported file format)

Region: AUSTRALIA
Provider: OPTUS
AVer: 2.3.6
BVer: I9100XXK14
Issue: When using allshare or skifta the native player says it cannot play my mkv's avi's that ive tried to play, they use h264 or xvid codecs so i dont see why the stock player cannot play them as i read in other posts that videos of these form can be played on the stock player. I connect to these videos via PS3-Media-Server for windows and sometimes wonder why it can't just stream it to my mobile like how it does for the ps3.
Also with skifta is there a app player that can play mkv's with soft subs? Ive tried mvideo and rock but they either stutter have HUGE colour artefacts or wont load the subtitles.

Are you trying to stream to your phone using the ps3 media server remote device using Allshare? That doesn't work for me, but if you enable media sharing in windows media player and access your files through the windows remote device in allshare that should work fine, (Open media player, switch to library, and enable the options under 'stream').
Alternatively download and install UPnPlay and MX Video Player from the Play store. If all your devices are on the same home network (local) and you have enabled media sharing / shared folders you can simple browse for the file using UPnPlay and play using MX Video Player, which also plays subs! This combination will play most things you throw at it, make sure you render to your device when playing, if you try rendering to a dlna enabled tv or something else etc you may get a 'file format unsupported' error.
Hope this helps. If you need any more help just drop a comment
I tried skifta with mxplayer and after a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy long wait it worked (had to enable subtitles myself but its no big deal). Is it normal to have that wait? is it different with unpnplay?
Thanks for recomendding MX player its sooo much better ill thank you once everything works out!

Give Unpplay a shot, it's free so you've got nothing to loose, and no it's not slow at all. I use Unpplay to access media from my NAS drive. I didn't find Unpplay terribly intuitive to begin with (probably just me) but stick with until you're successfully streaming

But wezi i think i should recommend you skifta ! I think its much more to offer . But thanks for the MX recommendation i thank you very much.
Good to hear it worked, and i'll check Skifta out also

Upnp/dlna Android app capable of streaming mkv

Hi all, would of put this in android general but can't seem to see it :-\
Anyway, I'm looking for the above, a uonp/dlna compatible app that is capable of streaming mkvs to a ps3.i can play them on my phone via mx player and the like but when it comes to streaming it fails, unsupported or corrupted data shows in the ps3 whenni know for a fact it can stream Mkvs. I have tried airsyncs airplay option, skifta and joses media server and none seem to work, anyone any ideas or other options I can try?
I'm running ParanoidAndroid and Siyah/twrp if that's any help.
Thanks in advance
And mods if there is a general android section and I've missed it feel free to move this

hey had this problem a while back, after a lot of experimenting with different apps, it turns out none of the apps could successfully "beam" a mkv file, even if both the phone and xbox can support the file.
The workaround that i finally got to was to host a media server from the phone, and access the mkv file via the server. APP: Pixel-DMS.
Works great on my xbox !! should work on the ps3 as well

Im looking for something that works the opposite actually, Does anyone know of an app that will allow streaming from a pc to my galaxys3?
I used to use allshare when i was running official samsung rom, but now i use Paranoid android and unfortunately cannot use it anymore.
I use a program called ps3 media server, which allows any content even MKV files to be streamed, ps3 media server is veiwable on ps3, xbox 360 and i could see it and use it on allshare.
now all i need is an app to allow me to pick up this media server on my paranoid setup.
any suggestions? thanks. :fingers-crossed:
I use PS3MediaServer in conjunction with Serviio to steam to my Xbox and phone.
1. Download PS3MS and Serviio on PC
2. Stream to gaming console. For streaming to android, download Skifta or ServiGo on Play. You can manage your Serviio console from your droid using ServiiDroid.
MKV works flawlessly.

Laptop - with Windows Media Player and Foobar2000 as servers
Tablet (galaxy tab) - with ArkMC as controller, server and player.
Samsung TV (as player and renderer)
I had an issue - I was not able to "Play-to" and to share MKV files!
I have tried just siple renaming MKV to AVI, after this trick it was possible to use "Play-to" to send file to my TV. And it played back well.
Maybe this would work for you.

ArkMC can use 3rd party players. I use Mobo Player and MX Player. So it supports MKV formats to. And ArkMC server can share MKV files to.

No, it can´t. It can play avi but not mkv, 3gp or flv.
I am still lookin for solution to stream mkv files via Android to PS3.
I installed Bubble UPnP - PS3 can see it, but everytime I want to go to some videos, pictures or music, PS3 is giving 2101 DLNA Error (can´t even see the list of my multimedia)
PS3 is on the newest offcial ROM and router is D´Link Dir-600 - if that´s matter.
Any ideas?

PS3 is not able to play MKV natively without transcoding. You must use a transcoding server like PS3 Media Server, Serviio, etc.
Odp: Upnp/dlna Android app capable of streaming mkv
Yes i know, i am using media serwer on my laptop and i stream mkv files, however when i stream movies, my laptop is over heating and shut down (is hot as hell) after an hour or so. Laptop is dual core 1.6 and the thermal paste on cpu is probably out. So i wanted to stream those movies via note 2. I thought there was an application with internal transcoding possibility like it's in media share on pc. So is it possible or not?
Sent with GT-N7100 via Tapatalk 2
Did anyone have a fix for this? The Note 2 ought to be able to do this.

Also the feature that I use the most is YouTube integration. You can use your phone as a controller and watch videos on a big screen:good:
I have bubble full version I downloaded arkmc which ultimately uses bubble what my question is how to view streaming videos on the P's3 because it recognizes bubble as a media server and only allows me to browse to my files rather then stream them

Yep, its a good posibility could be the DLNA server software too... because I know that Twonky didn't/wasn't able to serve the SRT to my Samsung TV in the very beginning. After several Twonky version it finally works (but it still won't play imbedded subtitles), and I haven't changed my Samsung TV or it's firmware.
However, BubbleuPNP and BSPlayer has always worked for me, best part is BSPlayer pays embedded as well as the external SRT.
Yes, it have to be problem with router... I installed bubble and bs... it works just like others players without subs even don't search them via online (i was hope it will be able to find them online as it have that option). Looks like media server does not serve the other files other than media files, subs are txt not a media... When you enter the bubble do you see your subs in folders? i can see only music and movies files... I Was try with BSplayer to enter in LAN mode... i run FTP server over the router, i can connect with gosthexplorer but BS asking me for the password and user name i enter correct one (use them in ghostexplorer) but it constantly show incorrect password... Any advice? Maybe in lan mode it can read the subs...
