I am writing as I am looking for a way to play xvid movies in the sgs2 stock browser. Any ideas?

which sites requires you to have xvid support?
usually its flash that is needed for most things.
share your info
I was trying this today and was going to ask the same question..
There's an option to register ur device to be divx certified so u can play divx protected movies on ur phone (divx n xvid are pretty much the same thing) but even after registering, I havent been able to find a way to play xvid in the browser...

I'm not sure this is what you look for but a search in the forum gives the next result.
havent tried it but there is no reason for it not to work.

ment for G2
Nope that's not it. I really don't think this plug in/app exists. Shame really. Would be awesome.

Sorry, I wasn't notified of activity here.
I cannot think of a specific site at the moment but it would be nice to be able to download & view divx files without being told file not supported & it doesn't even download the file.

Not supposed to advertise websites on here anyway (i dont think you can).. Anyways I was looking for a divx plug in since I had my i9000. No luck yet though.

What is the best sw to burn quality dvd and watch on the atrix .. A step by step would be great.. Thanks..
I really like Slysoft, if you research the company you'll see why.

Check the android central forums. I think I saw a good tut for using handbrake. Great and simple app.
OMG! I have an Atrix! [XDA app]
Yup...I second SLYSOFT !!! Movies show absolutely perfectly at 720p with 30fps!!!
Handbrake didn't work for me, not sure why. Try slysoft first.
Thanks guys ill try slysooft....

CloneDVD mobile is the program used to "shrink-wrap" your dvd's to be able to view on a mobile device. There are many options in the program for all sorts of pda's.
I use general divx, 720p, 30fps. I also use mVideoPlayer to watch. Its a free market download, and its way better than the default video viewer in the phone.
DVDFab + Megui = encode anything you want for any device you want. Just my $0.02

You want:
CLONE DVD MOBILE
ANYDVD
I use Miro Video Converter. It's made to work for phones and just click the option to convert to Motorola Cliq I think.
How to watch DVD's over HDMI using our atrix?
How we can watch DVD's over HDMI using our atrix?
Watch DVD's with subtitles!
One way, maybe is using an app in mobile, like Mobo Player, and use HDMI Mirroing.
But the quality will be good?
and .mkv files cant play on our device?
Other way thinking, using webtop mode..
but we need full ubuntu.. with vlc but sound reported not in good quality..
Anyother way/ideas?
I have tried various apps. I have been able to connect to my network browse all files. Its just when I go to play the file it says wrong format. The funny thing is I can place these files on my vibrants SD and play them fine...
I am using trigger redux cm7 and loving it!!!!!
Anyone lol?

Files will stream if they are encoded to do so and are in a format that the vibrant can play. Mp4 files with the file info in the header would be your best bet.
Another option would be to use a streaming server/client solution like box stream and convert.it is available in the market.

What do you mean by "in the header " and I tried getting both those apps couldn't find anything pertaining to streaming or encoding.

When you have the Vibrant then you have AllShare preinstalled...you use it?
Cause with AllShare you can watch all the vids that are on your PC via Mediaplayer...all you have to do is, add the Moviefolder to the Mediaplayer Libary and you are good to go.
I have no trouble at all streaming everything to my phone, only old codec versions like XVID or DIVX are making problems, but those are really old.
Is it possible to play mkv through allshare everytime i try it comes up with unsupported file type

i'm having the same problem and i can't find any real answer, sgs2 supports playing mkv's, but when trying to play using allshare it doesn't.
i tried a stupid way which doesn't make any sense just rename the file at the end with .avi
even it's a mkv. it will be played.
but then the rename should be done from the pc or if u have a wifi explorer that can do the trick.
hope this helps
If you use Serviio, it should be able to recode it to a suitable container on the fly.
The only way I know how to play mkv's the closest to the way you want is to use Skifta as a Allshare replacement and a different video player. I personally use MX Video Player. Both are better then the stock apps they replace

Guys try Arkmc
It's much better than Samsung's ****y allshare app

I downloaded the trial of Pavtube Video Converter just to test it... And O M G Its taking over 1 hour to convert 1 movie 800mb!!! Thats slow... Is this normal?.. can someone please tell me what I should do Any tips?
I download my movies and they usually come in AVI, MKV, MOV sometimes MP4.. I was told the g3 cannot take AVI because of all the different codecs that they could come in, so you will need to convert it but guys I need the best tool for this.
Moderator edit - no asking for warez
THank you
Edit your post please Warez is banned on XDA and you are stealing from XDA members in many cases .

Look for vid con on the play store and u can try it for free for 3 days! Seems fine for me

you have been so wrongly informed - the GS3 will run those file justs fine (without the need for any conversion). If not you have issues using the stock player - use a 3rd party player than can play using software decoding.

Google "handbrake". Best free converter there is
If you download MX Player for free from the Play store then you can play all the most common video formats like avi, mp4, flv, mkv and many more. I use this myself and not had any problems at all.
Hope this helps.

Hey, but is there any converting up which doesn't need an internet connection? I mean an android phone conversion, not an android internet conversion!

Best Video Converter
I'm using Free Studio (dvdvideosoft.com) and am quite happy with its video converters. I think this software is worth trying too.

Used this, very happy with it.
Could you be more specific or possibly provide a link. Googling video converter pulls up a bunch of free ones and I'm not sure which you're referring to. Thanks!
For me, I use asoftech video converter, you may download and have a try

Hello All
I'm minded at last to root my G9 80 to gain better performance and JB. I note the different methods of gaining SDE and root. As I have an aged PPC Mac as my 'computer', the official SDE method has its attractions. However I'd rather not cripple being able to watch downloaded movies etc. So, my question is whether this is simply Archos trying to scare people off from hacking/rooting their devices, or if it does indeed nuke the ability to watch content downloaded from Google Play etc. I assume streamed media is OK?
Thanks
Gareth
First of all, let's not talk about downloaded movies, OK?
After installing sde, running Netflix and YouTube still work for me. I hope that is what you meant with streaming.
About the movies, my personally ripped collection works. They are mkv, wmv and avi formats.

Thanks for the info. I meant movies purchased from Google Play that you're able to own rather than just hire.

Aah, okay. Google movie is not yet available in Finland, so I can't answer that question. Sorry.
