Does anyone know a valid link to Original Froyo 2.2? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need to bring back Galaxy s to the way I bought it. and end my long story thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154130
or at least can any one explain why this version has disappeared and all links cut off.
Thanks in advance

getting back to "original' froyo has a lot to do with what type of galaxy s phone you have.
Since your one thread says you have a i9000m, then nothing in the vibrant section is of any good to you. you're more likely to get some support in the i9000 section.

I Always thought All Galaxy s I9000 are Vibrant

Telus Forum?

Are there plans to create a Telus forum?
I have both a Samsung Galaxy S T959D and a Galaxy S 4G T959P. When I go looking for answers in "like" phones I normally get told that this is not the place to ask or did you search the forums? I would be nice to have one place for Telus related issues. All I want to do is root my phone but I have talked to other Telus users that have used the forums and wrong software and failed miserably.
Thanks and Best Regards.
For rooting your phone, I'd suggest you go to the respective forum for your devices.

Hi System,
That is just it, there is no forum for anything Telus specifically for me Samsung T959P or D. From what I have read, the hardware is different for this phone and has the potential to become a paper weight if we use advise from phones that look like ours but the different internals.
Maybe someone has already asked the question for your specific device? Try the search function with your device version. If nothing appears, maybe specify it in your question.
If you can't get help on a Galaxy S forum, I don't know where else
The thing is if XDA created specific forums for each carrier branded phone it would get quite cluttered.
Okay System, I understand, but I had to give it a try. I probably just have to wait a while. The update came out on Saturday from 2.2 to 2.3.4 so eventually someone will figure it out.
Thanks for your time. You can close the thread.

This is not root or rom related. Are you using it on at&t?
A search would have led you to the "return to stock" sticky and then we'd have one less of these same threads.

Can you contact the seller?
Return the used device and demand the brand new one.
You spent money for a new product, not a second-handed one, do you?
Worst case, the seller doesn't do the honor, post their Ebay name on so others won't purchase products from them
Suggestion: When posting in an Internet forum, read the sticky posts at the top of the forum first.
The answer to your question is right above in the stickies.
its unlocked and rooted
Galaxy S II unlocked and rooted, but no wifi.!!!!!!!

S-Voice for Galaxy S II

Hi, I have searched for an answer and haven't had any luck. I know that the latest S-Voice App supposedly can't be installed on something other than a device running ICS. Found Here: http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s-ii/
However, I can't seem to get it to work. It keeps giving me an error: There is a problem parsing the package.
I'm guessing I can't install it because I'm not running ICS. Can anyone confirm this? as it has been mentioned, that it does work. Found Here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/samsung-s-voice-ripped-for-the-world-to-enjoy/
SGH-7989
VER: 2.3.6
T898UVLDE
2.6.35.11
GINGERBREAD.UVLDE
I'm still waiting for ICS to come out for T-Mobile...I have not Rooted my Device yet, don't really plan on it yet, but am considering it in the far future...lol

Thanks for your reply! I guess I'll wait for the ICS to officially come out for TM...
OP, you realize that as a T-mobile USA user, who owns an SGH-T989, you are actually in the wrong forum for your device, right? (I've also noticed you've posted in the Epic 4G Touch forums as well...)
I've already tried to tell you once that you're posting in the wrong forums. I guess it's up to you to realize what you're doing.
I'm not saying it as a matter of you're not allowed to post here, but if you request ports, mods, firmwares or kernels, and you post in a device forum that ISN'T yours, people will link you to solutions that will NOT work for your phone, and in all likelihood cause you no shortage of headaches if you decide to follow their instructions or install stuff they link you to.
Your device (SGH-T989) has VERY different hardware from the GT-I9100 and the Epic 4G Touch (SPH-D710).
But it's up if you want to continue to post in other device forums.
i used this -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662959&page=12
and its working perfectly
and i think it wont work on 2.3.3
upgrade to ics and use go launcher ,, even i was thinking GB was bettter , but after using hydrogenics i dont feel like going back

So harsh on s simple mistake!!!
I didn't realize I was in the wrong forum...and I don't recall you ever telling me such in the past.. I don't visit here all that often, only for advice or to help someone else if I figure out something. I am new to Droids and this forum, probably only here a few months.

Nothing harsh about it. I'm trying to save you on future headaches. You're seriously offended by me letting you know you're posting in the wrong device's forums?

Well, the reason it won't work for you is because the app only works on ICS, apparently. Not because of your device. (That link is to a post in the HTC Sensation forum)
You're still on Gingerbread.

Working Svoice
A new hacked version of svoice have been released. I tried it on my GS2 running ICS Resurrection 1.9.1 and it is working with no issue. It bypass verification by Samsung. Just copy the zip file to your SDCard and flash using CWM.

Sticky Request i777 =/= skyrocket

I would just like to request that a sticky be made or a warning be added to the main stickies in the original and ported development forums to warn users that the i777 Galaxy S II 4G is not the i727 Galaxy SII Skyrocket. It seems really easy for myself as well as others to confuse the two.
I bricked my friends Skyrocket after flashing a ROM from the ported development thread as others have also done. Here is the post from the skyrocket forum.
lynyrd65 said:
So, I made the stupidest mistake ever flashing a rom. My friend comes over and tells me his phone is slow and acts funny. He says that he wants a new Rom which is more user friendly (if there is one). So, I've already flashed a ROM on his phone before so it already had CWM recovery installed. I decide to try MIUI on the phone.
The first thing I do, which is what I always DID (and unless I get lazy will never do again) is open up google and type "XDA AT&T Galaxy S II", fairly harmless, I though but it turned out to be a fatal mistake. I search the forums, see buzz about ICS leaks and figure I'm in the right place then I see a section called ported development. I go there and see MIUIandroid for Galaxy SII right off the bat and download it without a second thought. This may seem obviously wrong to you all but being that I am a Nexus S 4G user, I am unaccustomed to the numeration of the model number, I thought i777 sounded correct.
I boot into recovery then proceed to back-up the phone, wipe data, cache, dalvik, and finally system like always then flash the rom. It flashed just fine then I returned to the recovery screen and tapped reboot system.
It never turned back on. No matter what I did to try to get a response (two buttons then plug in usb to get ODIN with and without the battery), nothing, no response. I didn't figure out why until I went to find JTAG services and found that the i777 was in fact the older model.
I plan to send it in to be JTAG'ed and buy my friend a Galaxy Nexus. We've been friends for years and he isn't mad at all. I have a job and can afford it (even though it sucks). I figure I owe it to him. However this could have all been avoided if I had paid attention.
In closing, I would first like to suggest some things so maybe some of you learn from my mistakes.
1. As experienced an XDA'er as you may think you are, even you can make (uber) rookie mistakes. Pay attention and work slowly, your wallet will thank you!
2. Never, EVER flash a rom for a friend! The worst things always tend to happen when you are using someone elses stuff! (no idea why, but they do!)

I recognize many will say I didn't pay enough attention and that this is completely my fault. That's true, it is.
However, I think adding a warning wouldn't harm these forums and feel that it would be extremely helpful. Most people are not perfect and small reminders like that could help spare users from making a grave mistake.

Just curious... if you didn't take the time to see if you were in the right forum, would you have REALLY checked the sticky to see if it was the right forum also?
I guess if you say it would help.
I wonder if anyone has ever accidentally flashed a skyrocket rom on a i777?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Uh, how about no. Users should know this.. we do NOT need a sticky for this..

SGH-1757m

Hi,
I recently bought the new Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE SGH 1757M (Bell Canada) and is wondering if using the 1777 ROM (this forum) would be acceptable. I was unable to find a section dedicated to my phone.
Thank you
I would guess if you want to turn your phone into a paperweight, go ahead. But if you need a phone, I wouldn't try it.

i have already successfully rooted in the past (had the galaxy s). But i am also aware, that a slight change could cause error (this is why i am asking). Isn't there any section on this forum dedicated to the new Galaxy S2 LTE?
Your phone model is SGH-I757M. You could have searched, but you can go here as a starting place. Maybe you can find more info around there. BTW, this was the first result from a google search using the terms "sgh-i757m xda"
To make your life easier when searching, it's i757m, not 1757m. Same in here, it's i777, not 1777.
Thanks everyone for your input. case solved.
OP - please take a few minutes in the future, and do some searching. No need for this thread at all.
