Just copy the new fonts to the /system/fonts/ folder and replace the old.
If your talking about a ROM zip file then just open the zip with 7zip or something like that and drag and drop the new fonts to the above mentioned folder

this drag and open doesnt work , cauz when i install the rom it will stop in google logo , i tried with two different ROM.
thanks
If dragging and dropping doesn't work, what you'll need to do is unpackage each archive folder until it's a regular folder, then try dragging and dropping then repackage them. Make sure that you use the same archive folders so that it'll be readible by android.
*If this doesn't solve the problem, your problem might lie elsewhere. Try a different kernal, a different radio, a different module and keep trying until it loads ok. Good luck
its mean i have to extract each folder ??
thanks.
The uot (onlinekitchen) would be the easiest method. Just go to fonts, select one of the many choices., upload framework file for the rom you're using and flash via cwm. Very simple.

Root your phone -> download any file explorer -> go to /system/framework/ -> copy framework-res.apk to your SD card -> copy the SystemUI.apk from system/app/ to your SD card -> plug your phone to the computer and download them
my phone is already rooted. i tried using astro file manager v3 but after copying the file when i go to sd card to paste the file it says the file doesn't exist
Try another file manager then?
try ES File Explorer, you can use it to read/write into the system folder

Some people aren't sure how to create a flashable zip. So here is a template zip file.
Instructions add your APK files to the appropriate directory within the zip.
ie framework-res.apk would go in system/framework/
SystemUI.apk would go in system/app/
Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip would go in system/customize/resource/
*You may need to create directories within the zip*
lol nice idea i have never thought about making one for people I forget people dont know how
This could be very useful for people who are new to theming and from development and who are still learning how to sign zips.
Nice work and good idea.

Agreed. This is pretty sweet and actually an idea I was going to ask someone for once (I had no idea how to do these).
And MrSmith, now I can try to get all the boot anims updated with flashables also so that everyone will have different options. Thanks!!
Thanks for dropping this. Already have one, but this helps anyone trying to learn. You may have given the next big developer a good first tool. Congrats.....

Is this just the required directories for theming or does it include the ones required to make a flashable ROM?

this is just a flashible zip only you will need to add your files to the right folders to make it theme
is there a list of the folders? for example what folders should i make to add ringtones to the ones that are already on my phone? how about notifications, wallpapers, etc.?

The three things you've listed are items that can be freely transferred via USB. This is more for theme elements and applications.
However to answer your question, stock ringtones and notifications are in /system/media/audio/ringtones and /system/media/audio/notifications . The stock wallpapers are stored in /system/customize/resource.

Mr. Smith,
So if I wanted to make a flashable zip of say the market apk or root explorer that I can keep on the root of my SD card so if for some reason the rom I flash is missing gapps. Would I just make a folder called data with a subfolder called app and then it would get installed in data app ? Then drop the apk within the app folder and resign using android signer ?
I just had that happen while trying to flash the anthrax kernel , for some reason I lost my market apk and since it was a fresh flash I had no access to a file explorer. So ended up googling the commands to adb push the market apk to system. It worked, but made me think if I had my own flashable market zip I could have just flashed that and been up and running easier .

You got it. As long as you get the structure down right, flashing the zip will drop the files in the proper directory on your phone/device.
What about file permissions and owner? How do we set that in the zip (eg. if I need to flash a file to /system that requires permissions 644, owner 0/0.

Android handles that. However you can edit the script : META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script to make whatever changes you need. So you could add a line: run_program("/sbin/busybox", "chmod", "644", "xxx_file");

You can put as many files in the 'app' or 'framework' folder and it will flash them all
Hi guys
as the title says, how can I change the background (often blue one) when you view the settings, contacts, etc?
I know it's something about the framework-res.apk, res/drawable-hdpi/semc_bg.png. But I think there's more to edit.
I've got the image to change, my problem right now is what respective files to change in the framework-res. and also how to install it to the phone
Can someone help me? a nice step-by-step process will help me alot, especially for a big noob like me
Thanks a lot, in advance
Replace the semcbg.png file in the semcgenericUxpres.apk
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Thanks dude ^^ You sure it's this one? none at framework-res? how to edit it , and bring it back to the phone?
there has 2 option to do this..
1-use PC/laptop (winrar/7zip,,,and the new image)
2-use your phone (root explorer,,and the image)
with pc/laptop edit the ***.zip (rom) file
just replace all of semcbg.png every where I mean on framework-res.apk
and other framework (i'm not sure which rom and/or sometime other rom has extra framework-res.apk) (that why u i told u to replace all of this thing)
and for the update also
(maybe u use it...like 'screenshoot.zip' it containing it own framework)
goodluck buddy!
semc_bg.png is located in two files, framework-res.apk and SemcGenericUxpRes.apk. Location for that two files is system/framework. In each of that two files u have two semc_bg.png backgrounds, for normal and for landscape mode. Location of that backgrounds in each of previous .apk files is res/drawable-hdpi and res/drawable-land-hdpi. U can edit apk files with 7zip on ur PC.
Enjoy!
Thanks guys!
for example, I finished all the editing stuffs
How will I put it back to the phone? since it is an .apk, will I install that thru package installer? or what? just put the new edited framework-res.apk/semcgenericuxpres.apk in the phone, and reboot and the effects will take place?
You will need to use Root Explorer. Follow these steps:
Make a backup of the original APKs frst!
Copy the edited APKs from your SDCARD to your /system folder. (Yes, the "/System" folder)
Use Root Explorer to set the permissions to RW-R--R--
Once the permissions are set, CUT the files and paste in "/system/framework"
It will ask if you want to overwrite, go ahead and overwrite the files.
Reboot.
Or find empty flashable zip file, put framework files in it and flash via xrecovery.

First of all sorry for my english
Now question: How can I change my LockScreen Icons from stock to look like this one?
(I really was looking for some kind of info in and out the forum but didn't find anything)
Thank you anyway
I think you want to change which icons are used? Don't worry, I had the same problem finding the location too.
Go to:
Settings, Security and Lock Screen, Lock Screen Options, Shortcuts.
How this helps!

you would have to change the icon in apk itself unless someone creates a mod which allows changing them.
res/drawable-xhdpi

1. Pull the apk from your phone to PC (Use root explorer or something similar) - ex. SecPhone.apk for changing Phone icon
2. add ".zip" to its name at the end.
3. Open with winzip
4. find and replace the old icon with new one
Which apk is the lockscreen apk?
You need to pull the SystemUI.apk from \System\APP folder in your ROM or flashable rom file
then open the .APK with Winzip
goto res/drawable-xhdpi folder and edit the Icons as wanted,
Delete the SystemUI.zip from the flashable ROM
Click add ZIP and re add the new SystemUI.zip to the flashable package
Go into CWM and Flash
New try

is there any body know how can fix the fonts that after restart phone dont replace that with the orginal font?
thanks
HTC implemented some sort of security to their newer devices where you cannot write to the system as the kernel will reset it.
What you can do is adb push the font in recovery, or make a flashable zip for the font and flash it in recovery.
Basic thing is any change to system, to make it work properly you need to do it at recovery level

Here is the stock fonts for my ROM which is a flashable zip.
What you can do is open it with an archiver (I use 7-zip), and replace it with all the fonts from your current ROM and name it as stock fonts (you need this if something goes wrong as not all fonts may work for your device).
Then make another one and put in all the fonts that you want to change and name it as modded fonts zip.
So flash the modded fonts zip and see how it goes.
If some fonts make your device stuck, reflash back your stock fonts zip.

hello babakhad, I have some question..
I see there's so many fonts on the Stock_fonts.zip, so I just have to delete it all and put only one font that i want to use? Only one .ttf file? If I only put one .ttf file, will the font in the lockscreen change too?
