I have a Nexus One and an A70s.
The A70 doesn't appear to be getting any push updates e.g. email, I have to manually sync/refresh such apps. Ditto with stuff like chrome to phone only works to my N1 and the A70 appears purely 'passive'.
Anyone know if this is an A70 specific issue or a general 'multiple android devices against same gmail account' issue?
cheers
i use my google account on 2 android dev. at same time. no problem.
also i use internet mail with google at the same time. so 3 logins at the same time are no problem.
the archos 101 has an option for background data. look at settings Account and sync. ( i have german soft on my dev. so similar to it) there u should have your google account. tab on it and u may have yur email kalendar and contacts.
there u can aktivate automatic sync. at the previous screen u can also enable sync for google account and all sub posotions.
I hope this was clearly enough.

you can manage contacts over here https://www.google.com/contacts/
If you only need to add the syncing aspect, Friends Sync by WATTO Studios is my Fave. It's consistent, small, fast, & syncs more fields than other apps. The logo is ugly, though, IMO.

from your account of Gmail , enter the version web and edit your contacts, it works for me.:good:
Windows Phone has an option of linking two or more contacts. Quite useful. There must be an easy way in Android as well.
When you go to Contacts and select any contact, there should be an option to join contacts. You can cut out the duplicate entries this way and have all the info show up on one name.
When you join contacts it's works but if you wipe flash new rom all changes revert back

Google Contacts the very first time is a mess, but after you reorganize all your contacts everything works simple fine
Myphoneexplorer is quite good for cleaning up contacts. Used to allow merging but for some reason that got taken away.

I keep all my contacts in Microsoft outlook on my PC and sync using "myphonexplorer".
Categories in outlook sync with groups in both stock android contact manager and "go contacts".
I prefer "go contacts" to the stock contact manager because if fully customizable and allows group messaging without the cap on number of contacts also group chat..
"Myphonexplorer" syncs contacts, messages, calendar, and files via usb and Wi-Fi. Also allows you to text from your PC.
The only things missing from "Myphonexplorer" is mms and group messaging from PC which would be really nice.
Both "Myphonexplorer" and "go contacts" are free in the play store.

Not if you sync them to Google after you have them sorted the way you want.
i don't want to open a new topic just for this question, so i'll post it here:
When adding a new contact to a google account from android, is there any way to auto insert that contact to a custom created group? I keep forgetting to add the new contacts to a specific group and i want this operation to be done automatically, any solutions?

vCard sucks.. it doesnt support enough kinds of information, such as categories.. it doesnt work worth crap for CJK Characters either.. I cant believe every single program for Android only supports vCrap anyway.. but its all we have for now I guess... Windows 7 only has vCard 2.1 support.. .. but, it could be remedied on the software end by a program that would allow you to group contacts by a specific field.. you could then use one of the other existing fields as a "Categories" field...
there arent really any good programs from what I've seen.. honestly, I think i need to learn how to program an Android app just so I can find something useful so i'm not always stuck in suckville
but then, i dont think android will be around much longer.
Hi,
I have a task here: Share 200 contacts between 200 android phones as easy as possible. So easy that even my grandmother could do it.
Is this possible without having a google account? I have found some apps with backup and import options, but then I would need to add a google account.
I will configure one phone with all contacts, and preferably send some kind of file to all of the other users.
Phone: Samsung galaxy xcover.
Users: Elderly people
One thought: Create 1 google account, add contacs, tell all users to sign up with the same account. 200 phones running the same google account. Bad idea?

Guess that won't work. Try exporting the contacts... That creates some kind of VCARD-file... and then import them on all phones...
Hello,
i update my galaxy s2 from android 4.1.2 to 4.2.2
but after that i cant used samsung kies, i like to synce my S Memo to get back all my notes and i cant find the sync button
so i will be able to sync with my google acount.
please can anyone help me.
thanks
lior
Correct, kies won't recognise your phone as it's not stock. Once you get your noted off (email them to yourself/use Dropbox or something) then try an alternative such as Gnotes or evernote. That will sync your notes to other devices. I think there may even be chrome extensions for them

Hello!
I have the Samsung Galaxy SII - GT-I9100 model, running unmodified Android 4.0.3 and whenever I make a change to any contact on my phone (it's marked as a Google Contact, btw), it stays that way until I synchronize my account with google, when the contact will then be reverted to the way it is on Google.
I have no idea what's wrong and it has been like this ever since I bought the phone. If I go to my Google account and change a contact through the web, my cell phone will sync and bring the changes from the google server, but the opposite (pushing changes to the server) won't happen.
All my contacts are orgnized and stored in the "My contacts" group. My contacts application is showing only the contacts on the google account, so there's no conflict with any contacts that might be stored locally on the phone (I've deleted all the phone and SIM contacts just to make sure nothing like that gets in the way).
I'd appreciate any help you guys could provide. I'm not willing to root or install any other ROM on this phone, I'd like to keep it stock for several reasons, warranty being one of the most important.
Thank you very much!
I just updated the Android version to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and uninstalled any contacts manager I might have had (Go Contacts Ex) and tried again, but to no avail.
Anyone else with the same problem? Does this have anything to do with the "My Contacts" group on Google Contacts? All these contacts are stored in that group. I haven't changed since I organized all my contacts when I bought the phone.
If anyone could help, I'd pay you a beer (or a dozen, perhaps).
Thanks!
This thread is probably dead by now, and i'm not sure if anybody has figured out a solution to this issue. However i did find an intermediate solution with an app called "InTouchAPP" available in the playstore. It is an alternative solution to going through google's server in saving contacts. It integrates seamlessly with your phone, and you sign up for a username and password so you may never lose your contacts again.
I was having an issue in which i would save a new number and name it. Seconds later the name of the number would disappear. I tried going to directly to gmail.com and adding a contact and it would work. My only explanation was that my phone was not pushing information to the google server however google server was constantly overriding any new numbers i added on my phone.
If anybody has a better solution please share.
Best Regards,
Jonathan
