Swap has been set to use a partition, so you'll have to change it back to using an image file.
I'm going from memory here, but use root explorer to edit /etc/uruk.conf/swap. You have to comment(add a #) swap_mem_partition=/dev/block/mmcblk1p4 and uncomment(remove the #) swap_mem_file=/swap01.file.
Then you can use urukconfig to enable it and change the size and swappiness.
Hi, can you just give me the whole things of comment and steps? I don't know how to edit in root explorer and where should I do the comments. Im really stupid in these things man please help me.... sorry to ask you alot.... have a good day.

Open root explorer. Navigate to /etc/uruk.conf. Press and hold on "swap" until the menu comes up. Scroll down and select "Open in Text Editor". Add a "#" to "swap_mem_partition=/dev/block/mmcblk1p4" It should look like this:
Code:
# swap_mem_partition=/dev/block/mmcblk1p4
Then remove the # from "# swap_mem_file=/swap01.file" and "# swap_mem_size=50" so it looks like this:
Code:
swap_mem_size=50
swap_mem_file=/swap01.file
Then enable swap in Urukconfig. In the future, check the wiki first, it may help.

Swap is extra space the system can use as RAM. It doesn't work exactly the same though. For instance, if you set a 1 gig swap file, so the system theoretically has 1.25 GB of ram, it will still not act like it. In my experience, I've only seen 5-10 megs of swap space used, then the system starts killing background apps again, so I set my swap to 50MB and forget about it. Someone else may have more details on how the system actually uses the swap. I have a feeling apps don't use swap, only the underlying unix framework, but I've never really cared enough to look into it. Also, keep in mind that using solid-state storage for swap will reduce the life of the storage, since the system is constantly reading and writing to that portion of it(solid-state storage will crap out after a certain number of write cycles, it's hard to say how badly swap will affect this though).
Sounds like more hassle than its worth. Is there that much of an improvement in overall performance to warrant the effort?.

It just depends on how you use your device. On the newest stock firmware, when I start watching a video in the stock video player, it will kill Launcher Pro in the background. If I enable swap, it doesn't kill it. But playing a game like Gun Bros will always kill LP in the background. If you frequently have the launcher restarting(reloading all your widgets) when you go back to home, you should probably give it a shot. If you're on Uruk, it's not hard to enable, just have to edit one file with a text editor, and you can do it in root explorer.
Thank you. I am a long time looking for a way how to make the swap work

I found an application on the market called 'Swapper for root' , which creates a swap memory to speed up your android device.
I tried it and found some great improvement on my regular usage speed. Search ' swapper' on the market and install.
Some changes i noted-
* No lagging in 'Abduction when switching to full graphic detail
* Home screen more responsive
*Apps loading a bit faster
*ROOT REQUIRED*
Let me know if the app does good for you!

I've just edited the post Read
Just tried this on my mini pro.
The app works, as far as i can see but by using the busybox free command, as recommended by the app owner, it does not use any swap memory.
There is a swap file created on the sdcard though!
Any thought on this?
Thanx for mentioning the app!

Ok.

So i may root and install it
Thanks dude

Maybe a placebo effect? I dunno. Will give this a try though...
OT
Abduction works flawlessly on my x10 mini pro. Even NFS Shift works smoothly. The only app that stall in the middle of the game for me is iBasket. I have to kill some apps before playing it.
-Pabs
Abduction gets sluggish on the stage where it rains !!
Buat... The real name of the app is swap for root 2?
Thank You!
Well it works fine
How swap works
In my opinion it doesn't makes sense because swap is used just when does not there any memory ram available in the system, and if that occurs frequently there something wrong, maybe there are many apps installed; more than the phone can handle.
To know if this app is making effect, download "terminal emulator" and type "free -m". That will show how much swap space is used. If it is 0 this swap app does not make any effect.
Means it using our SDcard as RAM when the internal ram is used up?
Sure will the SDcard class type play some role too?
And running this apps in the background is also some resources eater as well as battery drainer??
Here is a great script that is apparently making its way through the android world. It increases the SD card read/write by reading in larger chunks. You can get it to work on Fascinate somehow.
Many of us in the Eris world have gotten this to work and my now SLOW eris reads pictures and related SD functions twice as fast as my fascinate!! Now to start testing this on my ever godly fascinate...
sharing the wealth:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013554
This can technically be hard coded into ROMS, but im no ROM developer (hint hint)
----update-----
I didn't find anyone in the Fascinate world doing this, but apparently the Epic has this somewhat working:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021647
----update----
And here are the Epic versions flashable files... i'll test them later today to see if they work on the fascinate:

Sounds great. I was just complaining about my pictures loading slowly yesterday, and here you are to save the day!
I'm backing up my phone now, and will flash the 2k file.
I did test this app, which essentially does the same thing, and it does work great on the fascinate. But, its an app that has to be turned on, and wont stick at boot. Although the app does have a set at boot option... thats still one more app running at boot.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/sd-increase/com.sdincrease.it
I'll post results on my flashing of the scripts shortly.
ok I can confirm the following did stick at boot.
njoy everyone:
SDCardSpeedFix2048KB.zip
I tried that app, and I'm not sure that it even worked. You probably know more than I do, but after doing the setting in SD Speed Increase i can open the file and it still says 128. i also tried it on my eris and it did change the file to 2048. Weird. Is there gonna be a link to a flashable in your post. thanx...

check my last link in the OP. All the various flashable files are in that link. I used 2k version. Thats what I used in my Eris.
the app you have to use the slider to adjust the amount (again use 2048) click on that RED/ORANGE button with the arrow and it will set it.
what it says in "Status" is what is defined in your phone. So thats how you can confirm it worked. Or just open up the gallery and compare a large folder before the flash(or app change), and then run the same gallery folder after the flash (or app change). It should be MUCH faster.
Ok, now the 2048k from that link worked great.
But just for the record, I did push that button to finalize the setting in SD Speed Increase . I don't know why it didn't change the file...oh well, thanks a lot sir!

jt1134 implemented this about a week ago, and I and several others did the same with the custom kernels that were released. If it's being set in the initramfs and not via an init.d script, you can change the values all you want and it likely isn't doing anything to change the read/write performance.

From what I can tell the flash files are writing to the init.d. So it should be sticking. This is still good to know as some people might not be using custom kernels, or might want to change from whatever defaults the kernel devs have pre-set.

If the change is applied in the initramfs, that will likely take precedence over the init.d script, but I have no idea how it works if there are two things telling it what to run at.
ANNOUNCING PERMA-TEMP ROOT + HULU FIX!!!!
I've taken the excellent existing information from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159354 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688054&page=46
See the first link for instructions, etc. Basically just plug your phone into your PC, make sure USB debugging is on, using your phone as charge only, and that HTC Sync isn't running. Then open up the attached zip and run Run_ME_Fr3vo_ROOT + HULU FIX. OH, and I'm not sure if it matters, but have the latest Adobe Flash player installed on your phone before you start (10.3.185.25)
That's it! Your phone should be rooted AND HULU-ready until you reboot.
WHAT I DID: All I did was add a few commands that will delete your lib file from com.adobe.flashplayer, then install a different .lib file with correct permissions. Now, when you go browse Hulu with your stock browser or Dolphin (making sure your settings are set to disable mobile browsing, or set as DESKTOP VIEW, etc), Hulu won't recognize your phone as non-desktop, and you'll be free to watch Hulu all you want!
[Please note: this is my first time doing anything like this, as in first time ever creating a .bat file or doing anything with adb beyond the very basics; please bear that in mind when ripping me apart for being a noob ]
If this was helpful, please let me know with a thanks!
EDIT: Thanks to abe_ahmed09 for reminding me this works with stock browser too!
Unable to test this right now due to no PC access. But dude, no one should rip you apart, you are trying to help the community and I commend you do doing things that a lot of others do not have the ability to do.

Glad it's working! I'll add emphasis to the fact that you need the latest version of flash for it to work.
Here's a question: are there any other programs out there that have to be tweaked AFTER root in order to work? What I mean is, right now I've got 10 or 20 root apps that work flawlessly after I root. But if there are good apps out there that require additional tweaking after root, perhaps we could incorporate that into the .bat as well

Oh hell no! Just use the free Dolphin Browser from the market, then go to settings and choose "Desktop" so that websites think you're browsing from a PC/Mac. When you get to HULU, depending on your settings, you may need to click the green arrow to watch the video.
Works in Full Screen too!!
...of course, if you're talking about Hulu-plus-only videos---then yes, you'd of course need Plus to view those videos just as you would elsewhere.
EDIT: Reading over your comment again I guess I need to clarify further: nothing here is "ad supported" because there are no apps, etc that I've provided. ALL MY HULU FIX DOES IS SWAP OUT A FILE IN YOUR ADOBE APP FOLDER THAT TRICKS HULU INTO THINKING YOU'RE A COMPUTER. But note that you'll still need a BROWSER that enables you to browse like a computer.
Were these points unclear to anyone else?

please read up on 'LCD density'. it "is" how the ( google ) market categorizes you as a phone or tablet. so... ya... you do need to toggle it.

Yeah, you need to actually try to look things up and understand, you know? Instead of just getting directions from people and changing things. That way you know what's going on and have a better chance of fixing it when you gets stuck.
Use the files in fullboogies post and change the first several lines to be like the others they link to. To change it on your tablet use es file explorer and go all the way up then go to /system and click build.prop and use es text editor when it asks, and you can change what you want. OP - I used the method in the post I made above and have successfully swapped build.prop files many times to get access to new stuff on the market. It is a really easy process once you read, read, and re-read the thread I posted. Just make sure you have backups of the stock file, and make sure you keep track of which build.prop file is which.
Personally, I give them a unique name when I'm not using them, then change the name to "build.prop" when I want to swap for another one. Again, just make sure you keep track of which is which. And keep a backup copy of the stock one on your home computer, just in case.
After finally getting CrombiXX to work, the only dissapointment is the inablilty to disable the touchpad using the appropriate key.
I read a post saying deleting the file 'event4' will achieve same effect.
Well I can delete it, but each reboot or undocking, it returns!
I have created a shortcut to the folder, but would prefer it gone permanenly as I never ever use the touchpad.
Can anyone enlighten me on how this pesky file can be removed for good.
Thanks
You could try creating an init.d script to delete the file on bootup.

The folder shortcut>delete file, isn't too bad a solution for those who can't type without thumbs catching the touchpad. Perhaps it's because I touchtype..

That sounds like an idea that may address the reboot issue, but perhaps not the undock/dock trigger. it's been so long since I wrote any scripts, and they were windows based, I think I may just have to stick to using the shortcut on the desktop to the folder.
Regardless, this little device is so wonderful now, it's a joy to use. Feels almost as quick as my Nexus 7 and certainly faster than the Note8 now I have put Samsungs 4.3 bloatware back on it.
I will investigate the script, but I guess it would be great to eliminate the trigger point/script till. It would of course be even better if the official button funtion worked....here's hoping.
Oh my goodness I just love this little beauty.
