When I download an app from the market, where does the file go before installing?
Just tried to update google maps and it failed after downloading, and now when I try to update it fails immediately when trying to download.
Think my problems with a couple other apps are same issue. Would like to try and run the downloaded file directly, or delete it and try all over from scratch.

Tried clearing the market's cache?
Tried clearing cache, dalvik cache, market cache, market data. Problems persist.

I would suggest to check the remaining free space on your phone.

Uninstall the market update, reboot and try again.
Is no market update to uninstall. Running market 2.3.6 Do I maybe have an out of date version that isn't getting updated for some reason. Perhaps I need to flash the newest gapps?

Did you see an option in settings-application -market-uninstall updates ? If yes, then uninstall it, and then reboot and open market.
The latest version is 2.3.6 but sometimes due to the update, it causes an error. Let me know if this helps.
Where the uninstall update would be is a greyed out 'cancel'. flashed latest gapps, problems remain.

new version of market actually gives more of an error message. Says insufficient space. however, I clearly have more than enough space on phone and sd....

Currently running PW EDO5. Has anyone run into FC issues with the Verizon Fascinate stock messaging service? Able to run Handcent without problem. Just don't like it much.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Have you done the obligatory wiping of the data and caches? You could also clear the individual data and app cache of the messaging app first and try again.
I don't know the steps to wipe data and cache from individual apps
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Settings>applications>manage applications>messaging>clear data or cache.
This is how
Well thanks anyway, still getting the FC. Something has to be corrupt in file

Either reflash the entire ROM or if that's too big of a pain, download the ROM and extract the messaging.apk and use adb push command to install.
Good point. May try to just download entire card to PC. Then reformation bard and reinstall

We've got the same bug here
My son's phone is running PW ED05 and has the same bug. I'm also running it and have no problems. The only difference in our builds is that I gave him a Voodoo kernel so he could use the sound manager while I'm running the stock kernel.
I was hoping someone here had a fix for it before I wipe and restore his kernel...
Interesting, I to am running a Voodoo kernel. Maybe that's a glitch

Wipe data/cache/dalvik an reflash. that usually solves force closes

You mean like reflashing the firmware? It's still stock. Haven't done anything to it yet.

Just clear the app data of google maps in Settings>Application manager.
If that doesn't fix the hang then try re-installing the app from the market.
If even the 2nd tip fails, then root the phone and clear cache partition in CWM recovery.
But I think the 1st tip should work just fine.
Installed 2.7 and every time I try to use camcorder it just says "Unfortunately gallery has stopped." Has anyone else had this yet? Also with 2.7 my wallpapers are being cropped different and end up stretched.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
Make sure to do a full wipe before you flash to avoid problems and install the latest gapps patch, its just updated today.
You can go to settings>apps and try to clear data for gallery. That helps clear up problems sometimes.
I just flashed again with a fresh download and a complete wipe. Wallpaper is fixed but camcorder still don't work.

Even though its a fresh flash, try clearing the gallery data. I've had to do it on fresh installs before on gallery and other system apps.
No luck clearing data either.

Semaphore manager> untick big memory and reboot. If not then flash semaphore v version kernel instead of sv.

Big mem took care of it. Any idea why that would make a difference? It was fine on past versions.

Its been an issue for a while. AFAIK its not kernel specific either.
Thanks for the help everybody

Yesterday, I downloaded the latest update to Nightly's Cyanogen Mod 10.2, which was released yesterday. Since I downloaded it I cannot open the Play Store, my phone just freezes for a while when I try. Even when I don't try opening the Play Store just after rebooting my phone, the error message telling me the Play Store has stopped working pops up literally a thousand times a second, this makes it extremely difficult to do anything. I ended up opening Titanium Backup and uninstalling it, now, it's all good, the only thing is I can't get any apps via the play store...
Does anyone know what I'm experiencing?
Thanks in advance.
Did you have cyanogenmod 10.2 before that? You need Gapps on android 4.3.

I have had cyanogenmod 10.2 with gapps on 4.3 for a while now, it wasn't until I updated it I had problems (the update that came out on the 8th was all good but yesterday's update caused problems). So to answer your question: yes

Would it be safe to: backup all of my apps to my sd card without their data then flash a stock rom with mobile odin, then reinstall cyanogenmod along with gapps, wipe the phone and its cache and then start it back up?
