[Q] Gosms mms workaround for CM7 - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have been seeing people talk about the GoSMS workaround for not being able to receive MMS on CM7. Could someone walk me through that workaround?

Its just that you can send mms from a gosms user to another gosms user. That's it

Friend on Verizon can't see my pics on MMS

Whenever I send a picture to my friend, she only gets a red X. She has no issues with other people. I've tried the same picture to Tmobile and ATT friends.
Any ideas what may be causing this?
I am using Nero v5

If you're using the Stock MMS app, try using a different SMS app like Handcent or GO SMS. I often see reports from people on Nero having MMS issues with the stock app. If you must use the stock MMS app, I don't have the solution for that. I never use the stock SMS / MMS app, so I've not ever experienced this personally.

No stock msg app = no MMS?

I finally got around to uninstalling the stock messaging app and I noticed I wasn't getting MMS messages anymore even with Handcent installed. I wasn't even getting the text that came with the pic. After reinstalling the stock app the MMS messages worked again. Oh yeah, and this only prevented receiving MMS, not sending. Is this true for everyone or just me? lol
Its not a huge deal that I have to leave the stock messaging app installed but its redundant and takes up space.
I uninstalled mms.apk with no problems
I'm pretty sure the only third party text app that works well without stock is gosms pro.
Might want to talk with the miui developers they have mms working ob the evo4g. I was also having that trouble with aosp roms.

I was thinking of uninstalling the stock texting app as I use GO SMS Pro. You can actually input the settings into GO SMS, just rip them out of the stock app.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to test Go SMS Pro. How does it compare to Handcent?

Can a Dev chime in on ASOP MMS on Sense

My question is does anyone know where the stock MMS apk calls to when it sends pictures? I love the new ics MMS and hate the sense one but the problem is that the stock ASOP MMS apk will receive pics but it gets stuck sending. APN back up doesn't work on restoring the settings and when a 3rd party app like handecent or gosms is used it will send the MMS. So I am assuming there is another file somewhere that a 3rd party app calls to..... Can anyone point ne in the right direction of that file so I can tinker and see if I can get the stock ASOP ics to send pics on sense?

My guess is that Handcent or similar calls to whatever the stock mms.apk is, and sends it through that. This would enable Handcent to work on any phone, like it does.
But your idea of how it works is also a good one. Hopefully somebody else knows because this would be cool to get working.
So I don't know the answer, but that's my input.
Even if you remove the stock mms apk and replace it with the aosp mms apk a 3rd party sms app will still send and receive pics so there's something somewhere else that is letting it do it.... Hmmmm

you can use a 3rd party sms/mms app like handcent or go sms too.
I've always preferred handcent myself.
If you go to setting on the mms app, you can see split sms do that would make it not to convert to mms

handcent sms question

I have a galaxy s4. I have handcent sms installed on my phone. I still have the regular android messaging app on my phone also. I just have handcent set as the default. I was wondering if there was a way to do this:
if i were to delete a text message from handcent, is there a way for the text to not delete from the android messaging app? i wanna have my android app keep all texts & not delete any, even if i delete from the handcent app. Is this possible??
