[Q] [REQ] Galaxy S II Clock Widget - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Is there any way to get the clock widget from the galaxy s II?

Search the forum and see what you find. If you cant find one you download you could always find a rom with it. Save that rom to your sd and pull the app from there using Root Explorer. copy and paste in the system/apps.. then reboot.

Just make sure your on a 2.3.4 rom before anything otherwise you'll just get lots of FCs. If you are, in the i9k themes and apps section there's a few different topics with the widgets. I'm pretty sure you'll also need TW4, but don't quote me on that.

I didnt even think about it being 2.3.4 Good catch.

Transparent Lock Screen Background

I read about potentially using a transparent png image to be able to see your screen before unlocking but after trying several .png files I came up with no luck. The phone either uses black background before your image or it just doesnt recognize the transparent. Any ideas?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261860
If you want to do it yourself, here's how:
I use notepad++ for editing, but any editor will work. Use apkmanager to decompile / compile framework-res.apk.
Edit res/layout/keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml.
In line 2 replace android:background="@color/background_dark" with android:background="@drawable/default_wallpaper".
In line 5 replace android:background="#30000000" with android:background="@color/transparent".
In line 12 replace android:layout_marginBottom="80.0dip" to android:layout_marginBottom="0.0dip".
Edit res/layout/zzz_keyguard_screen_lockscreenwallpaper.xml.
In line 2 replace android:background="#ff000000" with android:background="@color/transparent".
In res/drawable-hdpi:
Replace default_wallpaper.jpg with default_wallpaper.png. Replace zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.jpg with transparent zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.png (can be any png size 480x800).
Thats it.

Thank you!
And this will allow for transport and non transparent (opaque?) backgrounds right?
No idea honestly, just came across that thread a few days ago and haven't gotten around to trying it.
Anybody actually try this yet??? sounds like a cool idea
I have transparent zzzzzzzz_default_lockscreenw.png
can I replace it over the original without decomp/recomp? I haven't done that yet, iffy about doing something wrong. (I've heard of people not recompiling right and unhappy results)

Jkay settings has this feature. You should be able to find the apk on XDA.

Jkay mod
Is Jkay mod available allready as a separate apk, so I can run on any rom. I've been looking hard, even asking Jkay himself, and haven't got any answer yet.

I can't do all the work for you. Best way to learn this stuff is to do a little foot work. If you can't find one for your ROM, there are plenty of great ROMs with jkay preinstalled.

But you're saying it is possibly on KH7 or KK6? Just looking for a nudge in the right direction since there is a lot of misinformation floating around.

As far as I am aware, they are not avaliable for UCKK6. Additionally, Jkay himself states in his post not to ask about porting to anything other than what is listed. I’m not trying to be rude, just saying that is probably why you aren’t getting a reply. #3 on the third post
Well I'm hoping it's something like i9100 roms, they are intended for i9100 devices but with hellraiser mods they work fine on our devices.

I have used v12 on Villian ROM and v13 on Check ROM (both hellraised) and they both worked great. I recently moved back to Unnamed and the Jkay stuff is the one thing I miss most.
I found this. It isn't jkay, but it might have what you want. I will try it out myself and get back to you.
*edit* Not exactly what your looking for. It has a transparent pull down and you can change the order and appearance of quick toggle items but no transparent lock screen. Still pretty neat mod though.
There is a mod out I'm going to try, the maker of it made one for 2.2.1 for me but before I was able to install it I ended up going back to 1.3.2 and now I'm going to try it myself.

You know what's funny is, I rooted my mom's brand-new T-Mobile SGS II using their odin instructions, then booted into CWM and flashed Superuser, and when I rebooted the phone back into Android, the lockscreen was transparent.

Try this one. It's a bit larger size than what you are looking for but it's quite nice.

Sure. I forgot to mention that these widgets (at least the weather widget) will not work on GB roms. They were lifted out of Asus tablets which came with HC but will work just fine with ICS roms.
If you have GB rom. You can stop here and decide if these widgets are worth awhile for you to upgrade.
If you have ICS you can read on.
First, you need to get a root explorer app. I use the RootExplorer but any app that will let you access root folders will do.
Move the weather and deskclock apks to /system/app folder. There should already be a deskclock.apk in there so you will want to either make a copy to another location (for safe keeping) or just rename the one that is in there as deskclock.apk.tmp. Now move the new apks into this folder.
Next thing you need to do is to change the permissions of these newly placed apks. You need to set them rw_r__r__ (r_read, w=write)
Reboot and now you should see the weather and deskclock widgets as selectable widgets.
Enjoy.

Hit the menu button while in the editor and go to settings; there you will find the option to either enter your location (ex. Los Angeles, CA), or use auto detection of location. Hope that is what you were looking for!

Try Make Your Clock Widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hubalek.android.makeyourclock.pro and tailor clock widget that 100% meets your needs.
Free version (with less elements) is at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hubalek.android.makeyourclock
More info about app at http://www.makeyourclock.com/
Comparing to UCCW it consumes less battery and some people find it's interface more intuitive than in UCCW.
I have the samsung Galaxy player 5.0 as well and I use Beautiful Widgets this is a paid ( 2 bucks ) widget but well worth it. They have also added a web site so you can customize your own clock style and background for your widget.
Yeah, get Beautiful Widgets, find a good clock skin, make it's background transparent, use the battery instead of the weather icon (you can still check weather by clicking on the widget), enjoy.

Thanks for the push to apps guys, but I was hoping more for a bit of script or so and directions to how to stick it in my system file or something to make this a go.
I can decompile a boot.img if need be, but still looking for a dev to give a hand.

It's not that simple since framework is different in builds and not everything can be ported from one to next due to dependencies there are plenty of ICS looking lock screens in Play store.

Can someone tell me exactly what this statusbar icon is. ...I think it may be gps related

That is the E911 lock. It means your phone has a good location to give 911 should you dial it. It can not be gotten rid of as far as I know.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
It's the location icon, all the custom theme status bars get rid of it.
LOL I spent a good 15 minutes searching for the answer to this so I could finally have something to contribute (instead of just asking questions) and google finally supplied a link with the answer! It was this exact same thread... Jeez...
i dont think it has much to do with E911 - if you disable location services it will get rid of the ))) but the compass icon will still be there...
Just go into our apps and themes subforum guys... This has been covered. The mods are already there is you want to flash it, or there's tuts to remove it yourself

Yeah if you're familiar with theming, it's in one of the drawable files in systemUI, just extract, rename the 2 .png's to .bak, rezip, push back to system>app, check permissions, reboot and profit.

Google is your best bet to to both find many. Also the playstore. Just have to take the initiative to search and learn.
