Anyone know of an alternative Facebook app that will allow changing profile pics?

How about the mobile website of Facebook?
Here's how you would do it:
Take your picture
Go to your Gallery
Select the picture
Tap share
Upload to Facebook (Requires the facebook app)
Then go to Facebook's mobile website: http :// m .facebook . com /
Sign in
Tap profile
Tap photos
Tap an album
Tap a picture in that album
Scroll Down
Tap Make profile picture!
It's not that hard, even though it looks like there is a lot of steps, there really isn't. As of an app, I do not know of one. Sorry
PS: The link for the mobile website is spaced because I can't post links yet, just remove them in your browser.

Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated.
Also if you upload to the profile pictures album, on the desktop version of facebook from the browser you can set it. Can only set from profile pictures album though.
friendcaster > org facebook app
The new release supports that now. I just changed my profile pic a few minutes ago. Its like linked to the web version.

So I'm new to Facebook ... I can't figure out the difference between the Android version and the regular computer version. I know the Android one is different -seems to have less stuff/options than desktop.
My questions :what's the difference? Why is Android fb lacking features? Can I get the desktop version on Android? (I know I can use browser but is their an apk?) When I post pix, i get 3 options : FB, FB, FB for HTC sense. Seems option 1 allows video only, option 2 has pics only and option 3 shows both. Using FB apk from market. The HTc friendstream seems like the worst for options / updates
Thanks y'all

Hi everyone
Glad I found this awesome community that helped me and my phone's relationship grow.
I'm asking this question because I don't want to have to take pics of all my friends, I can't even fill the "People" tab, with my fav. people up with pics cuz it just takes too much effort haha. Connecting to facebook and getting their pic on caller ID would be waay easier!
BT
Sure!
If your using sense as your interface then yes you can. You'll have to link the contact to their fb profile in the "Updates and Events" tab of the contact. Once done it will automatically use the profile pic as the contacts default pic.
As moontashir said, the Facebook link will do this for you, although the links are made based on names, I would presume. If your contact list and your Facebook friends list names don't quite match up, they won't get linked. In my case, about 75-80% of my contacts with Facebook accounts get linked properly. Not too bad.
I'm not sure why but that's not the case for me. I linked the facebook account and the contact successfully, and in the updates and events page I can even see his photos and albums, but there is no button to save the picture nor does it link the picture automatically!
Nevermind, I got it! I had to go to "Edit Contact", click on the picture, and select Facebook Profile. Thanks... Love this forum!

yup is ture, even I can see the picture ...but I still can't save into phone ... maybe got others way???
do we have to do this linking individually for each contact? can we not do it for the entire contact list?
thanks in advance
"Link to Facebook".
"Update"
"Edit Contact, Click on the Picture, --Facebook Profile".
Do you have a quick guide to how I can do it with the "standard" SPB Shell theme?
Wehenever I click facebook when I choose a pic I just get sent to the FB login screen, and nothing happens.
Booksync
Do a quick search of the forums (or google) for a freeware called "Booksync" which will sync ur contacts photo ID with their profile pic in Facebook! Any use??

Yes, I've used that one. Its ok, but for some reason it only starts up once. So whenever I want to use it I need to unninstall and then re-install.
But I cant seem to figure out why the phone wont sync by it self... Should work without problems even with the SPB Shell..
Ok I am using HTC HD2. It comes with facebook application which I believe is very good to work with. Gives much better sharp screen than using browser to log into facebook. My only wish is that the facebook app shows thumbnails of the photo albums. When you enter into the photo album it shows full size images one at a time and we cannot select which picture we want to see. Can someone please help if it is possible to have picture thumbnails on Facebook App ( Facebook for windows mobile) .Please help.
You maybe in luck my friend. There is a facebook app in beta at the mo it's called xda facebook and Joe the maker says he is working on how photos should be viewed at the mo. So give it a go for a start it's a hell of a lot better then the windows app already so you can't loose. Just search for it on this site.
Is it just me or does Facebook show up three times when clicking share. I click to share a picture... it shows Facebook, Facebook and then Facebook - HTC Sense...
you sure you dont have a 3rd party facebook app installed
Mine just shows Facebook and Facebook Sense
Should be just two, assuming u gave Facebook for Android installed

Sounds stupid, but I am 100% sure it's just the Facebook for Android by Facebook and then I'm logged into the HTC Sense one.
OS BASED - Facebook - just Syncs contacts
FACEBOOK ANDROID APP - Facebook for HTC Sense - syncs your live feed, calendar, contact
if you have a third you installed another facebook app
I'm not as stupid as you think I am. Even if it was another Facebook app... it would be named Facebook xxxxx... Something and not just Facebook.
Not nesceasrily. I have filkie wallpapers on my phone and when I go to my gallery it has two options for wallpaper under the set as section. Both just say wallpaper but one goes to the sense wallpaper and the other two the filkie prgram

Never said you were, have you tried a battery pull too see if anything changes?
Yes. It's a duplicate, because they both open up the Facebook for Android app.
One is for pictures and one is for videos? WTH!?
I'm having a small issue with Facebook on Android. However, I think it's an issue with Android itself, not the app. When I get an email from Facebook, and I click the link, my browser opens and takes to the Facebook page and asks me to log in. Why doesn't it open the link using my Facebook app? It doesn't even ask me which app to use, browser or Facebook (eg. if I have two different gallery apps, and I want to view a picture, it asks me which gallery app to use, and lets me set one as default at the same time). Is there any way to make Facebook links open the Facebook app, instead of launching the browser (or to have it ask me like it does with other apps)? The whole point of the Facebook app is so I don't need to use the browser to view Facebook.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm looking for a solution for this too, it's really annoying! but I've had no luck so far....
Is there any way to use the default gallery app in Facebook instead of the one Facebook offers? To clarify, Facebook's just shows all the pictures chronologically and not in the albums like in the gallery. In some situations when I want to select an older picture it's difficult to find. This becomes an issue when I am replying and want to use an older picture, but if I'm uploading to my feed I can obviously select from the gallery and hit share. Any help would be nice.

Why not try a new app like Friendcaster. It is better than the official Facebook app. Hope it will solve your purpose.
