Any way to use the PRL from EVO 4G on the 3D? Reception is not the good in the same area that it was descent
EEE Pad Transformer sent this
Isn't PRL = preferred roaming list.... All it would help with is roaming if I'm not mistaken.

The (current) prl will be the same on both devices, its an over the air update from sprint
Edit to modify: if your question was to revert to an older prl, yes you can.
You can use qpst or I believe ##775# to load the prl (not sure in ##775#....but definitely loadable via qpst)
Yeah, you can. I've used both the verizon PRLs and a couple of older Evo 4G PRLs on my 3D with no issues.
While Mitsubishi does not currently use any Sprint prls, it should be the same for an Evo 3d as it is for an Evo 4g.

Why did evo 3d get this while others got 60681?
Different radio, or different bands..or just to be different n general lol

different bands makes sense....I wonder what the photon uses
apparently the 21xxx series is for phones which support the 800Mhz band, like the 3D

I thought so
So the photon has the same one? What would be the worst thing that will happen if I use 11115?
Blindly guessing but where the 21xxx would shift towers or keep signal, 11115 would 3G roam on VZW safely (it's a business user PRL).
I have little knowledge here but from reading, that's what I'm understanding.
Believe it or not the 11115 is not the business PRL for the EVO 3D. This is for the 1900 mhz devices only. EVO 3D and a few other devices have special PRL's with the codes 20XXX. Recently it was 20183 or something like that. There is a reason why the EVO 3D has a different PRL than all the older Sprint devices, and it's because it has been updated to include 800 and 1900 mhz towers.
The business PRL is slightly different, it is 21XXX. EVO 3D's do not get the 11115, instead they get the 21XXX for corporate. Does anyone have this PRL and be willing to share it? I want to do some testing on the Epic 4G Touch.
Thanks!

Im the source. I'm whosdaman.
Actually go to your local sprint dealer and ask to see their evo 3d device and check the PRL on it. The PRLs on the demo devices are the corporate ones.

21081 PRL
I can't post links yet because I don't have many posts, but follow these instructions to find it:
Go to Google
Search for this:
how to extract prl evo 3d
The first result is Stuck at 1xRTT on your HTC EVO 3D? Here's how to get 3G back ...
Click on it and the PRL is available for download.

Excellent find. Unfortunately it's the 21081 and not 21083, but it'll do for now. If you do find a way to get the 21083 from your phone let me know! Thanks
Well now that I'm looking into it more it seems like 21083 is the default for EVO 3D. I guess I need to go check what is the corporate PRL on the EVO 3D is again. I know for a fact it isn't 11115 though.
11115 might not be the official one for the 3d but it works just the same as it did on the EVO 4g. It gets me 3g roaming when I force roam when needed. I have a corporate acct and got 11115 on the EVO but I never got anything other than the 2 prls you listed.

Right but for non network vision devices.
Evo 3d has its own 11115 PRL
The 20xxx or 21xxx is the corporate PRL I'm pretty sure.
Of course the 11115 will work with the evo 3d

21083 IS NOT a corporate prl. it is latest prl regular users get when doing a prl update. you want proof of this, find a friend with a 3d and have him update the prl for you. it was either stay 21083 or change to it depending on the area but most everyone will.

If you are going to use 00001, then you might as well use this updated one.
See attached
I'm pretty sure if I flash back to 3.0 sense and update my prl ill get 21083 which will not let me 3g roam... 11115 will.

PRL 12117
I have a company-provided Evo3D and my PRL shows 12117. I always figured that was a corporate PRL. I have tried PRLs 21081, 21083, 11115 and 00001 and none gave me better results than 12117 although even that PRL is crappy here in South Florida...

That's it! I knew it was something really strange.
Think you could pull it?
That is the 800, 1900 version of 11115
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
How could I pull that prl off my phone?
I thought PRLs didn't affect signal quality. So how would this enable our phone to respond to a different signal frequency?
For kicks, I used the stock PRL for the EVO LTE (24003) on to my Photon. Wow my data flies with it hovering around 1600kbps - 2300kbps down and 500kbps up. I attached the PRL file below with some screen shots. the first on is my status screen showing the PRL version. The second is my Sprint 3g speed. The last is my roaming. Feel free to try it at your own discretion and I'm not responsible if anything good or bad happens to your device.
Here are instructions to manually update your PRL. You'll need to be on a blur based rom and have your phone's MSL.

Update. A friend let me update their E4GT with this PRL and their phone could not connect to a Wimax tower. My guess that this PRL is CDMA and LTE only with not Wimax tower info. We were able to fix this by flashing another PRL.
nice, ill try as soon as I can

A manual update should take it to the current Sprint PRL for your area.
Just flashed it and well my speeds are the same...
at least I tried lol

You're still on 3G when using this PRL. What is adds it the tower info for the limited test towers for Network Vision and Sprint LTE.

If you still have service just do as Kevets suggested. (menu>settings>about phone>system update) If not you'll have to flash a previous PRL version that you know was working or RDS to stock.
Here's a thread where you can download most of the Sprint PRLs.

Nothing really special about this PRL. It just has the typical 800mhz scans for Chicago. Nothing else real special.
The wimax chipset does not even use a PRL. This PRL is for EV and 1X only.

Its called QoS...I was expected something like this...wimax was never the issue ...it was the overall sprint bandwidth ...so now with lte coming how do hide that lte vs wimax was never the issue...it was the network behind it?...you set a network QoS to give most of the bandwidth to the lte devices and shortchange the non lte...even if you not using lte...the network will put the new stars of sprint lineup to the head of the line to make the look faster....wonder why you see all the reports of ever slower g3 on sprint for the other phones?...you just lower in the qos pecking order..you get what left of the bandwidth...you flying standby..the new first class phone fly first class on the backside of the network even if the local phone link to the network is just 3g

No lte is "hardware" (really a layer 1 & 2 radio & data link protocal) it would be like a gsm phone trying to do cdma with a software update...not going to happen if the cdma hardwares not there

No. It's all or nothing.
There's no way to make my phone roam onto sprints data or anything?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D
Roaming disables 4g automatically.
Not that I really think this is possible/legal... But they're two different radios... And last I remember while living in a 4g area I was able to roam voice on Verizon while still connected to 4g. Though I don't remember if that was through forced roaming or the Verizon Perl.
Sent from my PG86100
Verizons 4g is different than the sprint wimax 4g that we have on our 3vos. But there is a way to get 4g working. Do you have sprint ???? Or boost/vrgnmobile???
