So I check for updates. It finds the update. I press ok to download it, and it hangs for 30+ seconds, then says "SERVER UNAVAILABLE" is anyone else getting this message? I'm running stock, though its pre Mr1. I returned to stock today but never got the Mr1 OTA. Any insight?

Funny, I click on it and it searched for about 10 seconds and then it just goes away. Doesn't say anything. It used to come back with a message saying I was up to date. Now nothing

do you need to root to run the official update???
I would think just putting it onto your sd card and rebooting into the bootscreen would do it considering its a signed official ROM.
Same here, i was trying since last night to get the update but everytime it says its searching for it and then it disappears
The servers are overwhelmed right now like they were at 7:30 last night.

Install LTE OnOff from Market. Change to CDMA only. Then when you check for update will find it. Had to do this last night but takes almost 2 hours to download on 1X but installed OK but takes some time. Hung on one screen for few minutes but finally rebooted.

Thanks for the tip. That actually got it to work for me. Before that I'd get the "Service Unavailable" problem. I've been trying to get this update since yesterday afternoon!

Yes this is what I had to do. Had to do this to get the MR1 update also a few months ago.
To further add to the LTE OnOff trick, once it starts downloading if you switch back to LTE it'll download much, much quicker.

Latest HomeBase (BLUR with kernel). When I first got the phone after a few hours you cannot hear or speak. You have to restart the phone in order to make or take a phone call. Assumed using a new rom would fix it considering the Sprint OTA fixed it but I still have the issue. After anywhere between 2 hours and 8 hours of the phone being on is when the problems start.
It was my understanding this was Software related but after trying a few roms with the same problem I don't know? Should I just go back to stock and install the OTA? Roms are cool but being able to talk is better.
I would. Also you should have posted this in the Q&A section or in the homebase rom thread.

What version of the Home Base rom are you on? I'm on v1.5 with the 4.2 update and have no issues. So perhaps you could try that one? And I had that issue until the OTA update too.

To start, this isnt any type of development so it should be posted in general....
My question to you is do you have a Sprint airave in your home? That was the issue i had. If the problem is in custom roms try stock again.

I've recently flashed v1.5 and updated with 4.2. Loved it except that when I tried to download anything in the market it would tell me that there was insufficient space on my device. I had even reformatted my external and internal storage. Then I tried using the marketfix.zip. It would say it was downloading and then disappear from my notifications. I was wondering if you were having this problem at all?
The only time I have had a market issue was when I first flashes the ROM and it was the old market then it dud a little song and dance and ypdated to the new market at which point anything I was downloading prior was gone. But after that haven't had any issues. Is this the issue you are having? If not.....try to reflash the ROM

I started this thread to note fixes or not the OFFICIAL OTA release on or about 101211 accomplished without having to manually run the pre release/leaked sbf, This way we can rule out any problems associated with that process as the cause. I have tested the following fixes successfully and my phone is rooted:
Voicemail played on my BT headset more than once without rebooting unexpectedly.
Stay awake while charged remains checked after opening kickstand.
Calls have not dropped yet so I am encouraged.
I can't even get my damn thing to go. I supposedly started it about 5 hours ago and haven't seen a single status message since. Whenever I go back into Update Motorola Software it says I can't because an update is already in progress... Yeah it's cool they're putting out updates to fix problems but 1. It's nice not to have problems in the first place and 2. It would be cool if they would actually download.
This isn't the first update that's sat there and stared at me for hours.

The leaked SBF and the OTA SBF are exactly the same. Exactly. You can verify the hashes yourself if you like. See link below.
If you can't get the OTA to download/install correctly, just download RSD Lite and the SBF from the dev forums and flash it manually with RSD lite. That works very reliably. See below.

This OTA was a pain for me too. After 12 hours of overnight nothing, pulled the battery and 3 hours later it worked. Not saying the battery pull was needed. Something different/wrong about this one.
So far, I'm seeing faster data (3G & WiFi, no 4G in my area yet), and all around snappier response. Let alone the obvious, like VIDEO CHAT! (That's huge for me, since my daughter lives 2,000 miles away from me, and I really only get to see her on webcam).
Pew! Pew! Pew! From my Mo-Pho!

You're missing the point...
This thread was not started because I thought there was a difference in the builds. This thread was started because there is a difference in what one must do to install the updates. Installing the Official OTA eliminates any problem one may have run into using RSDlite as the reason the build did not fix whatever they hoped it would. Not to mention the fact the pre-release thread is 80 frigging pages long, predates the 101211 release date and refers to steps one would not see/experience downloading or installing the Official OTA update.

I don't think you understand. There is no difference in terms of actual changes made to the phone between OTA and manually flashing through RSD.
The SBF contains everything on the phone, system image, radio changes, etc. Everything. You can completely wipe the phone clean and the SBF will give you back a stock working phone exactly as if you had Motorola do the OTA.
Now, if you are having trouble using RSD Lite, that's an issue with RSD Lite. Post the errors and we might be able to help.
Big fix for me was that I can now answer the phone in the car dock and play sound through the car speakers. Before, if you tried that (by hitting the speaker button), the mic wouldn't function.

Do you.mean the stock gallery or 3D gallery? I'm not having this problem, but have in the past with the 3D gallery. To fix it, I had to uninstall and reinstall the 3D gallery.
I just got my tbolt last night at beat buy, the rep said we have to check the cam because some phones needed a cam fix. We took a few pics, it worked great, i left n took a few more, no issues, then it just stopped working. I open up cam or recorder, it looks like its starting, then closes out. Anyone know the fix for this? Id take it back, but in the 13 hours since i got it, i drove 700 miles. Id like the cam to work while im in houston the next few days! Thanks in advance.

between this issue and your problems with the market, I really think your best option is to hassle Verizon for a replacement, especially since your phone is so new.

I think its a firmware issue, it has npt done any ota's yet. Still runnin 2.11.605.0 on phone. I have bpth working now, connected to wifi at home, dl 1 app, then market works again. Cam was wierd, changed phone date to 8-1-2011, clear cam cache, reboot and cam works, then change date back. I think ill root it today b4 ota and get some new rom. Fyi 4g flies, pulled 25 meg on houston!

my 4G in downtown NYC is somewhat spotty, but it averages around 12 down, which is more than fine for me most of the time
when I was in Seattle over the summer speeds were nuuuuuuuuts - 45 on average, peaking at like 60 later in the evening
glad your problems are (mostly) sorted out!

I would really check for a firmware update thru the phone. There is no way thats a new Thunderbolt with that firmware on it (or its been laying around their store for a long time). Something doesn't sound right... I would exchange it or bring it to verizon and have them flash the newest update which is 2.11605.9.
The RUU is around, your could flash it your self..

So I'm asking to confirm whether this is a bug or a problem with my phones hardware. Any time I'm on WiFi for an extended period of time and then turn it off my mobile network won't connect. The only way to fix it is with a reboot and then it connects immediately. My wifes phone is completely stock and she doesn't have this issue. I'm rooted with s-off.

since your wife's phone is stock she probably has benefited from that, you'll have to un-root/return to stock to apply the update or wait until someone here concocts a way for you to apply this update, or at least the radio update that it contains.

yeah, it seems just from reading around that some did and some didn't. i almost wonder if it wasn't related to some glitch when applying the previous update. i know that when i first powered on my phone to activate it i briefly saw some message about failing to apply an update or something.
i think the radio update may have only been half of it; seems that some of HTC's performance and power management stuff may have been to blame as well.
i can tell you that it's been several hours over 24 since i did the update and haven't had to reboot the phone once to regain 3G. before i could shut down wifi at any random time through the day and mobile network would sit there churning on "turning on..." now i can turn it off and on at will and it connects pretty much instantly.

Hey all,
I have been unable to update my sister's bolt to ICS since it started rolling out a couple days ago. The phone is stock rooted with S-on and has an unlocked 1.05 hboot. I have done nothing to the phone except debloat. The recovery is stock. When I go to settings/software update and select check new, it appears as if it checks for a couple seconds but the popup saying whether or not it has new software to download never appears. I know with the galaxy nexus I was able to force pull the update by clearing the data for settings and turning airplane mode on and off of something ridiculous like that. Is there anything I can do with the bolt to get this thing to update? When I gave my sis the phone I tried to set it up so it could take the big ics update once it arrived (back in September ) so this is bothering me that the phone won't update.
Thanks for any help.
The reason is because you debloated. The update requires that ALL stock apps be on the phone at the time of the update. If they aren't there it will fail. If I were you I would get s off and flash the ics that Santod posted in the dev section.
