Hi,
I just installed a nightly build of CyanogenMod "cm_legend_full-124" on my HTC Legend, which I downgraded from 2.05.461.52 to 1.3 first in order to install CM7.
CM7 is successfully installed, but I kept getting an error message popping up saying "Sorry! The process com.android.phone" has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again". I traced the error to the "Settings > Location & security settings > Set up SIM card lock" area, where I found that "Lock SIM card" is checked. I tried unchecking it and it asks for a pin. I have two pins and two PUK codes given to me by my cell provider. I tried them all and it didn't work.
At one point, the cell phone randomly connected to the network, and I was able to use the phone, but then 5 minutes later it stopped working and is giving the same issues and I cannot uncheck the "Lock SIM card" box.
Please note I never locked the sim card, nor do I need or want it locked. I don't think it really is locked, I think it's some kind of CM glitch. I also had the problem when I tried the CM7 Stable release, which is the ROM I tried first.
Did anyone else have this issue, as well? If so, what did you do to fix it. I have spent countless hours searching both Google and these forums and I cannot find a solution.
Thank you.
Try a stable release of CM7, There is a thread somewhere for nightlies and issues find it and check the thread for teh same error
i get this problem with the 108, i turn my phone in plane mode ( to avoid pin loop), did a full titanium backup, flashed a non cm7 rom ( b08), and finally flashed the nightly and did the titanium restore.
work for me.

Please excuse my noobishness, I am still learning.
Anyway, I decided on Obsidian looked like a good ROM, went to go and flash it with ClockworkRecoveryMod, goes fine, phone reboots. I have no signal and it tells me to insert a SIM card even though its in there.
I saw in the Obsidian v5 thread that someone posted that they successfully took the modem from Obsidian v3 and then used ODIN to flash it onto the phone?
How do I go about doing this? Any settings for ODIN I need to know about?
Re-Flash. I had that ROM and it worked, although I moved to Axura w/ zero problems.
obvious question to ask is, is the SIM in there correctly?
Also some older SIM cards can only register so many times before they fail. Newer ones do not.Test in alternate device and there's your answer
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
same problem
Try to flash V5 beta and got "no sim card" problem. But I know what happens: my SIM card have PIN-code protection, on every reboot I must enter PIN code.
V5 beta doesn't show PIN code dialog, so SIM card stay locked and phone can't access it.
Try check, are your SIM cards have PIN code protection? If "yes", maybe it's a bug in Obsidian V5 beta. V4.2 work fine and correctly show PIN code dialog on start/reboot.
After installing CM7 on my Mini Pro it asks for "SIM network unlock PIN" when i start it. Works fine with stock rom. If I press dismiss I canĀ“t use any networks and it says "your sim card does not allow access to this network" when I try to set i both manually and automaticlly.
Any one with an idea what to do?
Tried both original PIN aswell as my PUK och my present PIN but nothing works.
EDIT: Solved it by using CM 7.1.0.1 instead of 7.1.0.2 By doing this i could bypass it by just pressing dismiss when it asked for SIM network unlock PIN
same here on FXP111 -.- not very cool
I've had this problem two times already: once when I first flashed FXP 109, and the second time when I flashed the recommended baseband firmware image from FXP's signature.
I don't know the underlying cause of the phenomenon, but it went away after letting the phone idle for a few minutes after the "SIM network unlock PIN" failed, and then rebooting. I actually had to repeat this procedure two times each time to get the phone to register in my carriers network once more, but it worked fine ever since.
Don't know if anybody is still reading this, but here's an explanation:

I've seen quite a few people posting about that issue.
Solutions I've seen others say work:
1. Reflashing the ROM
2. Installing the required kernel. (Did you perhaps miss flashing the additional kernel?)
3. Switch ROMs.
Good luck.
Okay heres my issue -
I unlocked bootloader, installed recovery, and rooted. Before i even flashed a new rom, my phone was showing the following message on the lock screen: "A SIM card is needed to operate this phone" "Please turn off your phone and insert your sim card"
However the sim card is installed, ive tried removing and reinstalling it, RUU'ed and started over from scratch, and nothing.
I went to the store and got a new sim card, and started the process from the beginning. However, I ran into the same problem. I have tried several GB ROMs and I get the same message. is there something im missing??
Please, any info will help. Ive searched everywhere and found no help.
I like this phone but I dont want it if i cant root it!!!
I had the same message and could not figure out what was going on. Turned out I had been been inserting the SIM the wrong way all that time. But Some people say they had the same error message after flashing a new ROM (like Clean ROM) and it went away after a few minutes and everything was fine. When I was asking questions about my issue, someone asked me if I had updated the RUU before installing the ICS ROM, which I had not done. Check and see if all the conditions are met for you to use an ICS Rom. I don't know what those conditions are but you can find out easily by asking. Good luck.
I've looked around for similar thread(s) but found nothing. I recently followed the instructions on this website-> "teambamf.net/index.php/topic/3528-guide-to-install-ics-ruu-and-firmware-windows/" and got the phone started up. Unfortunately since I'm not Verizon (T-mobile USA) I've been stuck at the "Activating" screen for hours now and it keeps saying "SIM card from unknown source". Any help to fix either (if not both of these problems) will be greatly appreciated.
P.S - tried rebooting several times and still stuck at the Activation screen after SIM from unknown source.
did you try to boot the phone up first without sim card? The phone by default is locked to cdma and you would have to manually change to gsm in order for it to work.
Try to boot up without SIM (and also any SD card. I had issue that my sd card has a rom in it and it won't let me to get any network data, so I had to erase the SD card and it work. So start without the sd card). Then setup the phone. Once it's setup, change the network to GSM and then shut down and put hte sim. See if this works.
I would suggest check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421341
also, is your sim already activated? I am not too sure if you can use rezound ot activate any sim. if it is not activate, try to activate with a diff phone first and then put in the rezound afterwards.

If you have Verizon and a Verizon branded phone and are getting this message, you need to contact customer support.

Have you tried this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882355
Otherwise, the Business Sense ROM is based on stock, and this will happen on all stock ROMs, but it should not effect actually using the device... It would be best to move to a CM or AOSP based ROM.
