[Q] How to configure TV out to display on computer? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HP Pavilion m9150f all-in-one entertainment computer with remote controll. It has a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 tv tuner card installed for use with Windows Media Center to watch TV and movies.
I just ordered and received the tv out cable for the Vibrant. The computer has the A/V Composite input jacks, but I don't know how to configure to have my videos on the phone played on the computer. Please help!

yes, because I use my computer as a TV. It has a tv tuner with antennae and remote control. I have a 27" monitor. I don't have a separate TV.

Why dont you just... you know, connect your phone to your PC using an USB cable and open directly the files on your computer? higher quality (TV out is limited to 480i) and no extra software, just your phone and your video player software on your PC...

I have an app to watch many channels from my own country on my phone, these channels are not available in the US. This app work very well, and I want to be able to view these channels on my comp/tv. That's why I come up with this question.

Ah ok, that make more sense...
You only need to enter settings>display>tv out and activate it there. If it doesnt work, probably the cable you bought is not compatible, or some roms dont have tv out working, so maybe you sould try with an stock firmware, to see if the cable works.

Remember to switch the red and yellow cables to
Red-yellow
White-white
Yellow- red

[Q] [q] stream movies from pc to tab 10.1 to tv

So, i searched and could not find was i what looking for...
Here is what i would like:
1) PC with movie on harddisc (and for instance tversitiy)
2) stream to galaxy tab (have it working with skifta/rockplayer)
3) connect galaxy tab to tv with HDMI connection
Result --> play movie from pc on tv via wifi
O, and what would be great even greater --> use my HTC desire android phone as a remote control (like pausing and fast forward)
What do you guys think.... is this possible????
you could do that with ES files Explorer
- install ES
- select the folders you want to share on Windows
- open ES files and click LAN then MENU--> NEW--> SCANNER--> it should display your computer with the local IP as name (no need to wait for the scan to end just click BACK)
- click on the media file to open and choose stock player to read it
- you know the rest !
if a file doesnt open with a simple press, just make a long press and select "open as" and select whatever it is
not exactly what i ment.
I know how to play movies on my galaxy tab.... question is, can i play these movie also on tv with a hdmi adapter? And next... could i use my htc desire as a remote controle to use?

1. You would need an HDMI cable that you can connect to your tv and tab. But as far as I know and can find out the Galaxy doesn't have or support HDMI output.
See the specs here: http://gadgetian.com/10288/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-specs-price-2/
It could be possible to do if you can find a HDMI mirroring app like the one I use for my eVo4g, as far as I know their isn't one that would work on Honeycomb.
2. As for using your Desire as a remote, you'd have to find a app that could control what ever media player you use, either through wifi or bluetooth. You might be able to find one on the market. You could also try one of those remote desktop apps on the market.

If your tv supports DLNA push then you can use Skifta to stream to tv without any wires.
I don't have a tv with DLNA support, so i connected my tv to pc as a secondary display and i use Skifta basically as a remote control. I use windows built in media server, it supports DLNA push on win7.

Skifta is on my tablet, i use it to browse my movie library (it's on my PC) and select play to PC (it outputs picture to my TV). Hope this makes sense, English is not my native language so it's hard for me to explain it.
Basically i sit on my couch, holding the tablet and using Skifta app to control whats playing on my TV.

You will need to purchase the HDMI dongle that samsung offers. It attaches to the bottom connector of the tab. Just like how the IPad's do.

TV out

I have the AV cables and can get my home screen of my phone on the TV. My question is it possible to get Netflix to go from my phone out to TV?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
unless the netflix app limits that ability. everything should work just fine. although not sure why you would want to with all the other sources we have now days for netflix. google tv, xbox, playstation, etc
Maybe he or she wants to use the TV out cables on a DVD player which uses A/V in? I would love to find out how to enable that capability on my phone since I have a 5" PSone monitor in addition to using Crunchyroll.

[Q] VNC like application to play pc games on phone?

Hi,
I recently bought Xperia S - that has separate HDMI and USB ports, so i was thinking if i could use the device to play pc games and stream video and sound via my phone to tv.
The phone can stream 1280x720 resolution to tv, so i was thinking i could create some kind of onlive-like experience, by plugging phone to tv and connecting keyboard/mouse to it via usb hub/bluetooth - and WIFI streaming output from pc to my phone then to tv.
Is there any app i could use to archieve my goal?
I am pretty sure OnLive is kind of what you are looking for! You can't run windows on your phone, so this is as close as it gets!
Hope this helps! Hitting the thank button if I helped it much appreciated
Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk
You misunderstood, i dont want to run windows on my phone, i want to stream video/audio/input between my pc and phone - yes, same thing that OnLive does but with my own games on pc. I just dont want to use onlive - i want my local pc in other room - so far the closest thing out there seems to be kainy...
I know, I was just saying, I have tried several things and there is not really pc streaming to your phone that is instance from pc to phone. It has some lag.
Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk
I don't think this is possible. Closest you'll get is Onlive as previously stated or using teamviewer.

Actually - ive figured out what i need to do - thankfully i can come by with 10 meter hdmi cable from pc to tv. So ill do this.
Bought "kainy" app from the market, bought samsung USB-otg adapter and a cheap usb hub. I will run kainy on minimal gfx and sound settings, plug keyboard and mouse to usb adapter so i will be able to stream input to pc via kainy.
HDMI output will its job for video and audio.
I've also tried super snes emulator with logitech rumble pad connected via usb to my phone - thos works awesomely well - a mobile console/emulator replacement, the only problem i experience now is that phone slows badly when i enable tv out via hdmi from my Xperia

The only thing that could work is OnLive. VNC is too laggy for gaming. At least over my network.
Well i intend to use it only between 2 rooms, not over internet - if onlive works - local wifi should work better

I don't see this not being smooth/fast enough either, but who knows, maybe he will get it working.

well, i already got kainy working on my tv - but the compression is horrible, so i've decided instead to byu 8-10m HDMI cable and connect my pc -> tv directly , and just use phone as remote hub for keyboard, mouse - the lag for input should be minimal enough to play fps online - and probably way better option than onlive.

[Q] How to connect SGS2 to LG LED TV?

Guys I own a SGS2 and a LG LED TV.
Is there a way that I can connect my phone to LG LED TV (which is dlna certified) like the Samsung Allshare application?
What I want is to play games or browse the phone on the TV through HDMI.
You need to purchase an MHL cable.
I have that, I'm looking for a way to wirelessly do that

You can only stream pictures, music and video wirelessly, using apps such as AllShare or Skifta. Most DLNA certified devices such as your TV will be able to handle pics and music with no problem, however the video which it can display will largely depend on what formats your TV can recognise. My Sony is DLNA certified but can only recognise a particular mpeg format over DLNA
Anything else you'll need your MHL cable
Thanks pal, so there's no way I can play games on LED TV?

Forgive me for not being psychic, you didn't say you wanted to do it wirelessly. In fact, you said quite the opposite

No, the i9100 doesn't output video at all from the 3.5mm jack. So this cable won't work.

Stream movies from Phone to Samsung TV wireless? (How to)

Hi guys, just bought a Samsung smart TV and I wanted to know if and how could I stream movies from my phone to the TV Wireless.
I'm currently running Cm9. If there is an app required can someone upload it please.. thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
You need all share to stream stuff on your smart tv. I don't know if all share works with CM9 though. All share is included in the stock Rom, so maybe if you ask somebody he/she will extract it for you do you can try it on CM9
it works on stock
Dont know about CM9, but with the stock rom, you just need to make sure your TV and Phone are connected to the same wifi and then you play your file on your phone. A symbol at the top of the stock player shows a 'choose your player' dialogues and then you choose your TV. Its starts playing either instantly or with a prompt on your tv, depending on your tv setup. I have mine set to auto accept. Works with photos and videos. I have tried with 1080p movies and it works without a problem.
Tv is LG LM670T. 3d smart. its gorgeous
I think most recently manufactured tv hs dlna.
Just search your tv model on Internet then you should be able to find out.
If so, then download bubbleupnp app from play store. You can either set up another server on your computer, which I do, using plex server, which you can download for free for your pc. Or you can use your phone as the server as well.
You can control all the streaming from your pc to your tv or phone to tv right from the bubbleupnp app. Very cool. If you install the extra bubbleupnp server on your computer, you can even stream remotely. Very easy to set up and very cool. Real cool.

If I understand well, you have two options: (1) stock Samsung rom and AllShare Cast (it needs Samsung framework, hence CM will not work) or (2) use DLNA (check if your TV supports it, but I guess so) and one of the apps mentioned above (which will also work in CM as it should support DLNA).
