[Q][HELP][URGENT] Help restoring lg-p506 to stock - Optimus One, P500, V General

I have my friends att lg thrive 506 and I flashed the clockworkmod recovery for the optimus one and it looked distorted in color. I ignored it and flashed miks cyanogenmod, and it gave me the same problem in color distortion. So I restored a backup I made before flashing cyanogenmod and then I flashed a the clockworkmod for the optimus v (since rom manager gave me a lot of options for ones to flash, and that was the only other lg one.) Then I pushed reboot into recovery from rom manager and it got stuck at the lg splash for about 10 minutes then shut down. Now when I try to turn the phone on I get the same problem.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? If not I have to buy him a new phone full price, and I can't afford that. I'd be fine if it took him back to full stock and wiped all the data, right now the phone is screwed over. Please, any support is appreciated I really need this fixed.
Thanks in advance.
Also if this is in the wrong section, please move it mods.

Can u getting recovery atleast
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App

No recovery just does the same thing a normal boot does. I haven't tried but when its turned on and pluged in to my computer, I may be able to use adb shell to view the normal system files but I don't think ill be able to see the critical files, like where the recovery is stored.
I use an HTC phone and know things like rru's let us flash stock roms like this and even revert to stock recovery, do any such things exist for this phone?

CHILL
perhaps u should use a kdz updater? remain calm and search it up. I fixed my phone that way too. Just don't bash your head like I did. :> But I'm not sure if there is one for yer model...........??? Hope this helps anyway...

Whatever you do, don't use any kdz updater. P506 kdz is not published, and p500 kdz will brick your phone.

If you only flashed a bad recovery you can fix it by re-flashing a correct one.
Your options, sorted by difficulty.
(1) remove/reinsert battery and reboot. If the rom boots fine (wacky colors or not), reflash Optimus One recovery from Rom Manager.
(2) remove/reinsert battery; use power+home to get to fastboot; now try (1) again.
(3) remove/reinsert battery; use power+home to get to fastboot. Connect usb and follow this. You'd probably be better off with the recovery here.
Once you fix your recovery, flash deodexed stock rom instead of CM7.

Drivers... -_-

Well thanks for this, but I can't preform the guide for one reason, drivers. I goto the lg site and get the drivers and I installed them, but I think the drivers are for when the phone can boot. And when I goto device manager, it shows up as android phone (with a ? as the icon)
So would someone be so kind as to share their driver for emergency mode with me? Thanks.
P.S. I am running Windows XP-Service-Pack-3, Intel Pentium 4-3.40-ghz-dualcore, 2048-mb-ram, 32-bit system
Edit:
I used my windows 7 laptop which auto-downloaded the drivers for me, then it worked like a charm, thank you very much.

noob question after rooting

I wanted to change the kernel from my P500 to solve the lag problem and get better overall performance.
I rooted the phone using gingerbreak 1.20
after that i installed from the market Rom manager restarted the phone, and i backup the phone from there.
After that I got stuck with my kernel replacement and I gave up and I wanted to reset the phone to default state. I didn't do anything to my phone.
I unrooted the phone and did the factory data reset.
Now when I reboot the phone and press power+volume down+home I still get the Clockworkmod Recovery boot menu. In an untouched P500 what do you get when pressing that combination? Is there any way to make my phone 100% factory state ?
sorry for my bad english
u should even delete the recovery.....(TO get rid of it)
the recovery is on the sd card, right? i formated the sd card... so there is nothing related to rom manager...
u must try flashing the default rom from the devlopment forum.(KDZ Updater)
blah
if i wait for gingerbread update will the update solve this?
The Recovery is not on the sdcard.
Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065197
and download the file "Original_Recovery_thunderg.zip" (or something to that effect) and flash it through cwm. This will restore the recovery as it was originally.
The zip is unsigned so you will have to toggle signature verification in cwm recovery.
@mihir he doen't want to get his recovery back(in other word he wants to remove it).
@soberspine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881 check dis thread and install the original rom...
@devil the original recovery zip in the link will restore the condition of the recovery to factory condition, i.e remove it.
this android reminds me of installing windows 95
the new unpdate to gingerbread will come out next month, so the update to 2.3 will get rid of that boot menu and other things that where changed when I installed Rom manager? in other words will the phone go to factory state before rooting/unrooting and stuff.
Yeah most probably the recovery will be cleared if and when you update to gb. But if you want to clear it now use the zip, it works.
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using XDA App
I don't think you'll be able to update to GB from a custom ROM or rooted phone. Even if the option comes up, it is recommended to go back to stock state (without recovery and root) or else it might cause problems.
i didn't installed any custom rom. the only thing I did was to root my phone using gingerbreak and then installed rom manager.
the only thing that changed to my phone is that now it has that boot menu clockworkmod.
now i unrooted my phone.
So it is not safe to make official update even if the only change is that i have on my phone clockworkmode?
Step by step picture guide to completely restore to open-box state using KDZ updater
did this for thousands of times and if you are doubted in any steps feel free to ask me
btw for your question, an un-touched optimus one pressing the recovery combination will result in
a stable image of an android jumped out of a white-rectangular box
a bar at the bottom loading
but that's it, nothing more no matter how long you wait
Also for your updating question:
LG WONT recognize your phone with their official updating tool only when you are ROOTED (so of course when you perform any other steps after rooting, it wont either... e.g. installing custom recovery, flash roms etc)
BUT if you go back to the original thing with KDZ, LG will update anything for you -tested by myself!
thank you for all the clarifications and the tutorial.
I will wait now for the new android 2.3 release and ill do the whole thing then.
It is possible after rooting and installing clockworkmod the phone to work slower?
It feels like the phone is responding slower or maybe is just me imagining things .
hehe. nothing like that.

ROM Manager screwed up my Atrix

I have a rooted Atrix. Installed Rom Manager and tried to install CWM backup. I got the RSD 2 error message at the prompt then rebooted the phone. Thats is as far as I went.
I uninstalled Rom Manager.
My phone will no longer connect to my computer. I get messages saying:
Computer says I need to format my SD cards in order to use them.
I also get a message saying advcntrl4.dll is not on my comuter.
Root tools no longer boots up on my computer.
The phone randomly connects and disconnects from my computer.
OK I hooked up my Atrix to my laptop and it saw it, so the problem is with my computer which I can fix eventually.
I still would like to have a full backup image of my phone and I see little support of Rom Manager issues anywhere.
Any suggestions appreciated.
thanks
Are you unlocked? If not its quite dumb to install a custom recovery.

+1... happened to be the first time i messed with my phone. root and unlock then flash recovery... works fine afterwards. just be more patient and learn your phone and how to mod it....
FYI... its not RomManager that messed up your phone... it was your lack of knowledge on how to do the mods to your phone.

Thanks for the comment. I lost driver files on my main computer with disk errors and have replaced the drivers and got it to connect to the phone. So another problem solved tho the motorola media program is not working yet but I will get it going. The bigger questions are:
I am anticipating ICS update so I would not want to do anything to interfere with the next OTA update. If so, I can wait for the update before doing anything with ROM manager. Funny thing after I deinstalled ROM Manager from my phone, it was still in my startup....weird, but I removed it. Questiion is did I change anything by trying to run the backup. ROM manager reported that OTA updates were turned OFF. If I unlocked the bootloader would that negate the ICS update?
thanks
panflute
i am trying really hard to decipher all that, but there is so much confusion in your post. i can understand you really have no idea what it is you are doing right now.
A. you wont see an ICS update from Motorola or AT&T for something like 3-6 months, probably closer to 3 i hope
B. if you want the stock ICS from ATT/MOTO, why are you even messing with ROM manager? You do know what ROM manager is for right?
C. you didnt change anything by trying to run a backup, in fact, it didnt do anything because you dont have an unlocked bootloader...it basically ran a script that failed.
D. ROM manager reporting OTA updates were turned off had nothing to do with a STOCK ATT/MOTO OTA....it was talking about OTA updates for your current rom...which is stock, which rom manager doesnt have any information about in its database....because rom manager is utilized for flashing roms.
E. unlocking the bootloader and leaving your rom stock will not keep you from updating from MOTO/ATT later on....
i think you have some reading that you should do before you break your phone.
ok
OK Thanks Meter. That answers most of my concerns. You are right I don't know what I am doing. I remember years ago when things were easier to figure out.
It sounds like I did not damage anything which is great. I was just attempting to do a backup because I am a backup nut. I have a ton of hours into setting up my phone. So maybe I'll do some looking around and see how easy it is to unlock the bootloader so I can make a backup. ROM Manager did NOT tell me I needed to unlock the bootloader. If you look at my homescreen you can see why I should have a backup. I have titanium BU but would prefer a full ROM backup.
3-6 months for ICS is fine with me because I like my phone as it is tho I am always looking for ways to improve on it. So far I have not run into any walls...it just keeps getting better.
thanks Meter.
I know how you feel.. I messed up my back flip that way. I had the same problem. Unless you're fully rooted you can't install a custom recovery. Most likely you have a hard brick.
Form is temporary but Class is permanent. I love Liverpool FC.

Did you try reinstalling the Motorola drivers for your pc and then trying to flash the pudding sbf (only if u r unlocked ).
I did not get from ur post. Can you still access fastboot? Then you can flash romracers recovery.

[q] lg p509 rom hell

Hello,
I have had my T-mobile LG P509 Optimus T for about a year now and I have had it rooted just as long. My husband plugged it into his PS3 the other day and it went to the fastboot mode started screen, thanks to the wonderful posts on here I was able to fix it. Then the following day it got left outside all day long, battery was drained and the phone was off. I charged the phone and when I turned it back on it would not go past the Android Logo screen. Again thanks to all the wonderful posts on here I was able to get it back up and running. The problem I am having now is that every time the phone gets turned off, it gets stuck on the android logo screen again and I have to re install the ROM. the recovery is not helping. It is quite tedious to have to constantly re install everything from Google Play just to get my phone to work. Is there anyone out there that can give me a permanent fix or give me a ROM that is specific for the LG P509 instead of the one I am using currently that is for the LG P500 Optimus One.
Android Version 2.2.2
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Build Number NuDroid T1D-S
Software Version LG-P509 V10s
Recovery Rom is Original_Recovery_ThunderG.zip
ROM is FRG83.zip
p509
the roms are the same
my phone is a p509 but im running every rom on this forum fine and everything goes well except some cases of data because tmobile uses a "funny sim"
P509
I figured they were. I am just trying to find out why every time my turns off and I turn it back on I get stuck on the Android screen and it goes no where, Doing the recovery of my back up from the recovery menu (volup+home+power) does nothing I mean I actually have to re install the ROM. Is there anyway for me to find out what is wrong. What ROMS are you running if you do not mind me asking. Also is there an actual list anywhere of the Factory System Apps that I can freeze with my Titanium Backup. I have the Pro version. PLEASE HELP. I have had this rooted for over a year with no problems and now it just wants to act all crazy.

It sounds like the rom is corrupted. I believe from your description it fails to load properly on reboot. there are a lot of options available for you. Most of the roms are for new baseband. Unfortunately you will have to experiment. Read the posts carefully, start here first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152306. Next I would read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247 this will tell you almost everything you want to know. I would upgrade to the new baseband v20g http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149530 . Then I would upgrade the rom there are many good roms available. I wish you luck when I first stated flashing roms there were three days of hell before I started to get amazing results. I have a P509 on t-mobil network, and currently running cyanogem mod rom 7.2.0 RC1 it is gingerbread 2.3.7 New basband with lots of script tweaks. the performance is very good. good luck I will check back to see if I can help.
P509
Thank you,
I will give those a look and see what happens. I will let you know.
same
i have same problem i have p509 and my phone fell during kdz and i think it partly works but no rom can load up :O
P509
I have done many different options. The one that I found to be the easiest is to take your micro sd card and put it in the adapter into your PC. Then in the ROMs section of this forum find a ROM that suits you. or you can use the Rom I listed in my initial post being the FRG83.zip download it to your PC then copy it to your SD card. Put your SD card back into your phone. Then go to the recovery menu. Volup+home+power hold until the recovery menu pops up. then wipe the data, then install zip from sd card choose the file that you just downloaded and let it do its thing. It has worked for me numerous times. All else fails follow the guide that is posted above very good info to have.

[Q] cwm recovery boot loop, will not acept a rom install :S

Hi all
ok so i'm a bit nervous writing this expecting all manner of attack in that i may be posting something that's been posted before lol, i've been working on this phone from start to finish about 9 hours, over two days..... i've googled just about every combination of words to do with the title and everything in between but nothing seems to come close to what i actually need to do as nothing works
i have an LG Optimus 2x / p990, it had ICS on it but was far too slow to handle this, it needs something a bit less hardware intensive to run smoothly, so i went ahead an found cyanogenmod stable ...... 7.2 i installed sdk after an hour of finding out how it works i finally got adb and fastboot working, i then needed this, that, this, that, etc etc etc.....
to cut a 9 hour story short, i've managed to get myself to the point where i wiped the phone of everything but CWM partioned for ics via the AIO software but CWM will not let me install any ROM onto the phone. to be more precise it says i have installed CM 7.2 successfully! (i've tried this via the CWM via external SD card and sideload) i reboot the phone it's as if i've never done a thing, no trace or suggestion i've even attempted it on the internal card... nothing
i'm at the point now where i'm quite happy to just have my phone back now and install ICS 404 but can't use the LG kdz install software as the pc doesn't see the phone as an LG p990 because it's recovery and i can only get it to come up as internal and external memory cards
i'm not really a noob when it comes to tech stuff but this little phone has me stumped.... please, i'm begging you, help me any operating system that can get my phone working will do, preferably the CM 7.2 if not back to ICS 404?
and i know, i know i should have backed up but i had no idea it could be so complicated just to put an OS on a tiny computer
ETA i've tried that exitrecovery.zip thing and it did nothing :/
It's quite simple
Try to reset and unroot/re-lock the phone then unlock and root, then what you need to do is get ROM Manager and get the Clockwork Recovery and the version that supports your device, although you might need to hook up your phone to your computer for the process to work.
Also put back in ICS 4.0.4 when unrooted and re-locked again like stock and make sure it's the stock file for your phone.
And after you got ROM Manger and the Clockwork Recovery
Then just in Clockwork wipe out all data on the device and don't do a factory reset in Android just with clockwork and delete everything that was made on that phone then install CyanogenMod.
After that it will seem to take a long time or just a while to boot up and then it boots faster then the original ROM.
If you have Clockwork Recovery just wipe out all the data while it's still in there and you should be set.
When it was my first time putting in CyanogenMod it was 10.1 RC1 on my Nexus 7 and it didn't work and forever bootlooped, and that was because i forgot to wipe the device. Then after going into Recovery with Clockwork I deleted all the data of my tablet and it worked but took 5 mins. to boot up which is nomal.
And if Clockwork doesn't work, do the same with TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) and download that which can be found here teamw.in/project/twrp
If you don't want to get ROM Manager or that one isn't working then try this website to get Clockwork because it has the whole list of devices and I recommend downloading from the website instead of their app. clockworkmod.com/rommanager
cheers for that, i've tried all of the above still to no avail, having a think about it the phone is partioned for ics, i'm trying to install CM 7.2 which as i understand isn't ICS so.... maybe the error is that it's a different partioning sequence/setup i'm gonna go for CM 10.1 and see if that makes a difference.
to add i'm not sure why everyone rants and raves about CWM, TWRP seems much more complete and advanced do you (or anyone else) know the main differences?

TWRP has a completely touch driven interface that is 100% themeable, while CWM has a touch version and non-touch version. Also TWRP has a built in file manger and terminal emulator where as CWM does not. A lot of people like TWRP because it provides a lot of good features with a simple and straightforward yet powerful user interface. I would recommend taking a look at this guide if you want more information on the differences between the two http://www.droidiser.com/2013/04/twrp-vs-clockworkmod-recovery.html?m=1.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
ok i managed to do it i can't remember exactly how but some good links and info for anyone who stumbles across this in need of help
i went for cyanogenmod 10.1 to make this work i used this AIO tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
repartioned with OLD partion layout and BL
installed TWRP (included in the aio)
if you need to reinstall the google play store make sure you have right version if you flash it and get "unfortunately setup wizard has stopped" repeatedly you have the wrong version see this link for which one you need http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Gapps
obviously make sure you have adb and fastboot setup and drivers too.... it's a long process installing the entire sdk, personally for flashing this once and most definately not inclined to do it again i'd go with just the adb and fastboot rather than the whole sdk
also i found a keyboard error with 10.1 where i'd type 1,2 or 3 characters and the keyboard would minmise not sure if there's a proper fix (i found one thing where you disable the autocorrect but didn't want to do that) so i decided to download and install hackers keyboad which is based on the gingerbread keyboad and is much better and comes with full features and integrates nicely
coupled with the info above from YoyoscratchMC and you should be in the field
good luck to all i was ready to jump out my window with my phone first so i could land as hard as possible on it last night but i got there in the end lol

Recover data from T399 with corrupted cache

I'm trying to get the user files off a phone with corrupted cache. When booted normally, it gets stuck on the white T-Mobile splash screen. When booting into recovery, I get an error about the cache and the phone restarts without loading into recovery. Screenshots attached.
I can get into download mode fine.
Using Odin to flash a custom recovery gives me the PASS message, but when I restart the phone, the stock recovery is still there with the same error message. I've tried TWRP and CWM.
I am hesitant to try flashing a custom ROM because I don't want to lose the data. The phone is not important, but the data is.

Dont try flashing a custom ROM on to the phone. Try flash the stock ROM through the lastest odin with the lastest drivers and let me know how that works out for ya. Unless that wipes the phone ( havent used it in quite some time) then I have no idea man.
I tried flashing the T399UVUAMJ4 ROM throught Odin. It went through the entire process and rebooted, but nothing changed. Does this mean the bootloader is locked?

I'm not sure maybe want to ask someone else I'm not as experienced as some people on here. Sorry man goodluck
I hope someone can help you out. I would say your cache partition somehow got renamed but I'm not sure if thats possible and if so how to fix it. Maybe someone with ADB knowledge can help?
Also what TWRP were you trying to install? I've had problems when I tried to flash older versions
okay so here is a site with the original firmware for the phone. It has both the t399 and the t399n for odin. It has them labeled so its not too confusing lol. http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f200/samsung-t399n-metro-pcs-firmware-here-1899016/
find the one for the t399, flash it with odin. this will fully restore your phone. HOPEFULLY it will be able to save the data. I know you said you did this before but I'm not sure if it was just system or everything like here.

Thanks for the quick reply. Its a shame to hear that it didn't work
How did you come to this? as to me it seems the partions have be modified hence why giving those errors I seen similar errors to when users change cache sizes which tends to brick device or from using incorrect pit files.
You never be able to recover data from flashing Odin may be slim chance by custom Rom thru recovery if was a bkup of original system and not selecting data your old data may conflict causing either bootloop or basically stuck on splash screen.
If you was ever able to best way to pull data from device would be thru adb may have a chance.
This phone belongs to a friend of a friend. They said they brought it to T-Mo because it hung up during boot. The store worked on it for a few minutes, but couldn't get it to boot up either. When I tried to go into recovery, they said the store already went into that screen too. They have since bought a new phone, but would like to get the photos off it if possible. They never had an SD card so it's still on the device.
At the moment, I can just go into download mode. I was hoping to flash a custom recovery so I might possibly be able to ADB from there since it won't load the stock recovery.
I have a very similar issue but without "cache error messages". The phone (Samsung Galaxy Light with stock ROM and TWRP) just reboots no matter what I try to flash into it.
It does it while "drawing" the Samsung Logo animation (blue ring that gets created revealing the word samsung), so after the white wrintings of the phone name.
My attempts so far:
1. Flashed newer version of TWRP
2. Flashed CWM
3. Flashed two different versions of stock ROM (the original one and the one that T-Mobile released when upgraded to latest jelly Bean)
4. Flashed a custom ROM (Light ROM found here which is based on the stock one).
EVERY TIME the outcome was the same:
Phone reboots right after the phone name (written in white) while the Samsung animation starts. It just stops while the blue oval begins to appear. If I try to boot into recovery (via home/power/volume up combo) it shows the TWRP splash screen but it reboots right after and this happened even after I flashed (successfully according to Odin) CWM.
It really looks like I did nothing so far but I can assure it's not the first time I use Odin (4 different versions) to flash a custom recovery or a ROM. I did it successfully on other 4 different phones (all samsung).
On this same phone I did it the first time when flashed TWRP in order to root it via recovery.
I have no idea what to do next. I was thinking about using adb in order to wipe all the caches (dalvik included) but it looks like the phone can't be recognized unless I boot it into recovery mode (adb get-state returns "unknown") and I don't think I can do anything in Download mode which is the only mode I can enter apparently.
I was hoping someone here can help me to spare some money buying a new phone for my wife and tossing this one which is the best for its small size imho.
Thank you in advance to anyone interested in at least shading some light on what could have happened. This started to happen out of the blue and the last time I actively modified something (updating the recovery) was almost one year ago... It always worked like a charm until 4 days ago...
EDIT: To clarify: the reason why I posted here is because this looked like a problem the most similar to mine (boot loop or stuck at boot and can't enter either regular or recovery mode). I cannot create new posts due to my low "rank" yet... Please feel free to move this if you think it belongs to a separate thread.

ok so i read all that you have done which is basically everything i would of suggested to you other then could it be the battery may be faulty just random thought noticed you never mentioned trying kies you may have a chance with it beening detected as i see you can enter download mode so that help with odin also kies also have you tried firmware from here sam mobile here T399 or T399N OH2 lastest for tmo and OH3 for metro.
Try to only flash that thru odin i use 3.07 or 3.09 only difference is the pda button changes to AP .works perfect for me so i suggest it then returning back to stock recovery/firmware if it boots then awesome. then return to TWRP 2.8.4.0 beening lastest for this device also needed for CM12 also my projects for device current and future.
when using odin make sure that only “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options are selected.
also just note when going into twrp release buttons as soon as you see logo otherwise it will continue to boot thru well happens to me when daydreaming lol.
also if your seeing this adb get-state returns "unknown" i believe installing kies may install the drivers for detection im not postive on that but im sure it something to do with missing the adb driver for device maybe another dev can confirm this ?
hopefully this may be of some help i keep on thread to see how the outcome goes
Thanks for the reply DJBoxer!
Regarding the battery it's a new one and I can confirm it's not a battery problem considering that the phone can stay in download mode and unplugged from any power source for very long times without turning off/rebooting and it never failed to keep the charge so far. I also tried with the old battery and the phone behaves exactly the same way.
I used 3 different versions of Odin (1.87, 3.07 and 3.09) with only “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options selected and every time I got the PASS message even though the phone keeps rebooting after the first reboot once the procedure is terminated.
To clarify one thing : when I said "it shows the TWRP splash screen but it reboots right after and this happened even after I flashed CWM" I meant to point out that it looks odd to see the TWRP splash screen (even for just a few seconds) after I just flashed CWM and that makes me think that I'm really not flashing anything here...
Thank you very much for taking the time of posting the links and I actually didn't try with that latest OH2 version.
I am downloading it right now (it takes a while from sammobile) and I will keep you posted on the outcome.
I will try to flash it via Odin and I'll also try the latest version mentioned on sammobile (Odin3_v3.10.7).
Regarding Kies I wasn't able to have it recognize the phone. I may be missing something but I tried updating drivers and going through all the guided procedures with no luck... If you say it should recognize the phone right away while in download mode then something is amiss.
Could you please confirm that I should also be able to use adb commands with the phone connected via USB in download mode? Cause that doesn't look like the case either...
Thank you again and I'll give updates here about my last attempts.
Sorry for the late reply...
Nothing changed by the way...
I am about to send the phone back to the seller who told me they'll try to fix it. Let's see how it goes.
