Hello, I'm a recent transplant from Windows 6.5 and loved using a 3rd party program to add cities to Sense. Is there an equivalent Weather City editor for Sense 3.0 for Android? I've looked around, but can't seem to find any discussion on this.
City editor? Like, how do you mean? This intrigues me.

I think he's talking about adding a city to the weather database. Interestingly, my city used to be in the database now it just says my state.
Why not just use current location?

Yes that is what I mean, sorry about not being clear before. The utility has been around for windows mobile phones running sense allowing you to add cities not in the stock database. Basically you enter weather codes into it from accuweather.com and then it appears on the list when searching in sense. My reason for using this software is that I live between towers, and the correct city always keeps shifting away to a city 5 miles away. I also have relatives overseas that I use this to see the weather in their small towns.

i used to use spb weather and had a few places set up nicely but i cant seem to get it working since i flashed to wm6 and trying to reinstall it. im trying pocket weather too but to get my town showing up I'm really struggling. I live in Milford Haven in West Wales. I had verkhoyansk and death vally set up too for the greatest temperature differences and it took me ages to set up finding the right sources and town codes but I really cant remember how it is done. I can't load the tsk file I backed up.
How do i get weather set up and what is the best one to use?

I too had been using SPB Weather, but I was completely dissatisfied with the way it handles (or I should say, DOESN'T handle) current conditions. The latest three days seem to be nothing more than what the forecast was from three days ago.
I recently have been toying with SBSH Pocket Weather, and I feel it's a somewhat better product, offering a myriad of detail that is lost with SPB. I like the map abilities, relative humidity, barometric pressures, sunrise/sunset/zenith (handy for photography), and a lot of it's other features.
But it too, lacks in certain areas, and it's a beast to set up.
I'm in the USA, and although I can't configure my actual zipcode easily, I CAN use the national stations that surround my town, and it's forecasts and current conditions seem to work flawlessly.
FWIW, though, both products work fine, for what each one is capable of, running on WM6.
SBSH has a great forum...though it's pretty quiet right now. All the same, you can probably get all the help you need from that source, more than what you might find here.

thanks alot. the hardest thing was finding my town it was easier finding some obscure place in russia than my town in Wales! and finding the data source files from each weather site I still don't know how i did it at the time. i will look into SBSH thank you.
i prefer sbsh it allows proxy internet connections which works better with my corp connection not to mention it has more weather detail.
Hi folks,
i recently read an article about an app called WalkSafe. It basically uses an algorithm to detect incoming cars using the camera while you are walking on the street and calling. It basically can save your life So I wanted to download it form the market, but found out it was not compatible with the Wildifire. So I downloaded the app from some filesharing website (the app is free so no piracy ) and installed it. But it just forever hangs on the startup screen (when there appears a bar under the status bar with the name of the app). Is there a fix for this? Is it wildfire related or app related ? I couldn't find anything on the web so far...
Thanks in advance
So you are ready to give your life into the hands of an app algorithm rather than waiting for a bit and getting off the street for texting/calling? Whatever floats your boat.
Anyway, its most probably the app itself. The devs have probably not configured it for low end devices.
Its not that i will trust this app, i was just curious to see if it works. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion

I play scramble with friends, draw something, and words with friends with my wife. Are there any of these games on the wp7 marketplace? If not are there third party apps that are like them?

I moved on from my mytouch 4g slide. I cant stand not being able to play games with my friends
There is an app called "Spell it" on the market that is similar to "Words with friends."
"Words By Post Free" is almost identical to Words With Friends and is available on Android, iPhone, and WP7 so you can play all of your friends, despite their platform. "Wordament" (also a free app) is very similar to Scramble With Friends, except you don't play with one person at a time...you compete in a live game against everyone else playing at that moment. Your score determines your ranking and you can see how others scored, common/obscure words, etc. To my knowledge, there is not an app like Draw Something available yet, but there probably will be soon. Hope this helps!
Edit: I have found an app similar to Draw Something--though the reviews note that it is a bit glitchy. Hopefully this will be fixed by future updates. It is called "Draw and Guess."
This is perfect, thank you. Hopefully the windows market market will catch up with the others

I saw another thread about hiding apps in some guy's wife's phone to track her. I'm looking for something similar with my wife, but it does not need to be hidden. Mainly to be used because I commute quite a distance and this would let her know how close I am to home (rather than having me text while driving). Similarly for her when she's travelling.
Just an app that would:-
1. Allow me to see where she is (and vice-versa)
2. Use GPS if on, otherwise fall back on net information
3. Not use SMSes (some sort of internet-based communication between phones)
I could probably hack something up using Tasker but her phone isn't rooted like mine is so the capabilities for GPS etc are a bit more limited (and time is limited, of course).
Thanks!

You can actually do this with the built in google maps application. It's called local/latitude. You can share where you are and control who sees it an when. Go ahead and look into it. Much better then downloading another app IMHO.
See here: Google search latitude android
Thanks, yeah I know about latitude features but it seems to lack a way to "ping" the other party with the equivalent of "hey, I've reached road X"

Use an app called Backitude from the Play Store. Latitude updates pretty arbitrarily on its own. This app allows you to control how and when it updates, and also let's another person force an update on your phone by sending an SMS. It's all Internet based except the update triggering part. You can also use the tracking features of Cerberus, another app in the Play Store.

As you know, Twitter shut down Tweetdeck for Android, I was using a modified version by Modaco (Tweakdeck).
It was an old Twitter client, but it had the ability of putting all your searches in separated and unlimited columns.
So I had the basic colums: Timeline, Mention and DM, but after that I had like 10 searches!
My city name (So I knew what was happening anytime), one of my search was "nexus 4" so I had all the tweets in the world containing nexus 4.
You had add someone timeline as a column itself (If you didn't want to follow him or the timeline was very important).
But now it doesn't work , app was pulled from the PlayStore.
I have installed a lot of apps and no one can do what Tweetdeck or Tweakdeck did..
Do you have an option that I can try?
Nothing?

Twidere
Not sure if you are still looking, but Twidere lets you save searches and it remembers your last position. Pretty minimal client otherwise.
Tweetings is based on the same source, and has a lot more useful features, but saved search tabs in Tweetings are VERY buggy (not useable).
