[Q] Can't flash with Flashtool. "ERROR Flashing aborted" - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I hava X10a (xPeria X10 Mini) phone with 2.0.A.0.504 firmware. Rooted.
I have enabled Unknown Sources and USB Debugging
I have SEUS installer
I have disabled UAC in Windows (Windows 7 x64)
I have enabled root permissiont through Superuser for Flashtool
Despite all that, when I try to flash the X10a_2.1update1_r2.1.A.0.435_Generic.ftf firmware with Flashtool, I follow the instructions loading the firmware and putting the phone in flash mode, but Flashtool fails. I can boot back the phone and use it as normal. No brick, no black screen.
I searched the forums, but found no one with a similar problem...
Here's the log.

Sounds like a corrupt .ftf file.
Download it and try flashing again (from same source) . If that also fails try a different source.
If that fails try a different flash tool version.
Hope this works

I already verified the MD5 checksum, and its the same on than the official Flashtool
thread download link.
I also tried Flashtool v 0.2.9.1 and 0.2.8.0 with the same results
Is there any other Flashtool I can try?

Try it again this time hold the back button down until you see flashtool has sent the loader

You're the third person I've taken note of with this problem without resolution hmm. Wonder if the problem lies with Flashtool?

Well I had the same problem and I had to use a different firmware to flash with flashtool. I think the ftf file he used is corrupted if that is possible.
Sent from my x10i XDA Premieum Android App

Not sure, above he says he checked the MD5 checksum. I suppose he'll have to try a different firmware altogether.

i'm having the same problem now on my so-01b xperia docomo. i have flashed my with a stock x10 generic ftf, it was a successful flash but after a while it just suddenly lost power. when i try to boot it, it just vibrate and nothing!!!! now i have tested so many roms, but just showing "error flashing aborted" man pls somebody help us... i have done some searching and most of them tells me its cpu flash ic problem!!!

there could be 3 possible reasons
1) backbutton not kept pressed enough
quick check : when it says abort do you still see green light near the usb, if yes they you are still in flash mode, if no then key was not pressed on time.
2) FTF could be corrupted : md5sum should do the job here.
3) USB drivers might have gone heywire, suggest reinstalling drivers.
Drivers are inside driver folder in flashtool folder.
hope this helps

hi.
I have the same problem ,yes the green light stays on I have waited like 10 minutes it wouldnt turned off .
I re installed the drivers too,I installed (Golden Gate) too but didnt help .
downloaded and installed another firmware but didnt help .
Plz someone help

Same problem here. I've tried several different firmware, tried several ways to plug phone in, nothing will allow it to finish the flash. One time it actually got closed to finishing the system.bin but then gave the error, so it doesn't always stop at the same time.

Hey guys I am thinking you are talking about what I went through and the fix for my experience was....goto device and printer and click on "A6SOPEME IDE Controller" or semc boot/usb whatever....any ways it was shown in Device and Printers with a little yellow triangle with the exclamation mark in it after a flash. Just uninstall after your flash and then try again.

This is about the fifth person I've seen with the problem also, has me wondering the same, although my suggestion helped one or two of them, others seem to be running into an error still.

hey guys !
guess what I turned my phone on ,as I have found a solution for it I thought it wouldnt be fair to not share it with you guys.
I tried everything just name it ...I dont know where the real problem was but solution is keep pressing the the BACK button (the arrow points to the left) and press power button at the same time . phone will turn on .
there is no problem with your computer or anything its phone itself.
but now I got another problem phone reads the simcard but doesnt receive or send any call says Emergency calls only ...or when u dial a number it says OUT OF SERVICE AREA...anybody can help me with this?

Well, the most silly thing is that I can't turn on Unknown Sources, because the device only vibrates and never boots up, and if I plug the x10 via usb on the charger or the PC, automatically he bot's up on flash mode, or so it seems, because the green led boots ups. I think that I've the first person that bricked the x10i

new info added on the post.
I think you'll have to get it repaired by Sony

I've successfully bricked my phone.

Okay, so here's the problem.
I have an x10mini and I wanted to put Cyanogen Mod 7 on it.
For that i used the PC tutorial that I found here: forum.cyanogenmod(dot)com/topic/32778-cyanogenmod-7-for-the-xperia-x10-mini-v710-11-oct-2011/ but it failed, I bricked the phone.
After getting the phone bricked, I found that I could just put Cyanogen directly from the mobile using Rom Manager like this guy here:www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=8QLvyylC4hQ
I made a video showing how my phone behave: www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=MIXhWwElmNQ
The only thing working is Cwm Recovery.
Now i need help with you guys to recover my stock android and start the flashing process with Rom Manager this time.
Thanks in advance, Sirop

firstly is that ROM compatible for your phone?
to recover to stock ROM download a stock kernel and use somthing like flash too to flash it to stock
Yes, according to the first link, it is compatible.
I found a stock french kernel (I'm french) but I can't put it, the Flash tool can't detect my phone in flash mode.I shut off the phone and hold back button while power on but it says :

if your installing custom kernel (which i believe you are) then you need to UNLOCK your BOOTLOADER or else it wont work and it wont flash
if your kernel is SE stock then it doesnt need Unlocked bootloader
may be your adb.exe has blocked with your antivirus,,,
so your flashtool did't work...
do you have try flashing with other computer???
I do that way and working...
you should try this....
sorry for my english....
Is there a way to install it directly from Cwm Recovery? There's that menu : "install zip from sdcard"..?

you cant install kernel with that method

Cannot put Neo into flash mode (USB + Back) - is there any way to update my OS?

Cannot go into fastboot mode either (USB + Menu button) but at least Flashtool is able to reboot it into fastboot...
...is there any similar trick to reboot into flashmode? Flashtool only tells me to do the manual stuff for flashmode.
Or, alternatively, is there any way to perform a ROM update - I'm fine with the latest SE stock ROM, I just need that fixed auto-leveling audio feature I had in my Arc since last Summer -, maybe through some fastboot injection + multiple other steps?
It's running GB 2.3.2 aka 3.0.A.2.181 and I need 2.3.4 aka 4.0.A.2.0.XX; I have root but that's it, when I tried installing CWM it did install but does not work, phone freezes at bootup when I keep pushing Volume Down at the first logo to invoke CWM.
PC Companion also 2.0 craps out when I try to run the update, telling me to take it to a SEMC place...
Thanks in advance

What do you mean by you cant go? what happens when you try to go into that mode?
If you get blue LED on that means you are in that mode.

I meant what I said: it does NOT go into flash mode. You can try 100x it will only turn on charging, that's all.
And yes, having owned X10 and Arc previously I've done this before multiple times so I know how it goes normally... not on this Neo though, that's for sure.
So the question is: is there any way to perform an update via fastboot...?

For the love of God, Asians: PLEASE STOP ****IN' PLUGGING THIS **** IN EVERY OTHER POST.
Is it locked to a specific network? My understanding is that it'll have fastboot locked and you won't be able to get into flash mode. Mine's a Neo V, though, so the Neo may be different.
If it's the same as the Neo V then you have to unlock fastboot as well as the bootloader.
If you go to the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to get into the service menu, I think one of the options tells you about simlocks. Sorry I can't be clearer, my phone won't go to that menu, presumably because I've got CM7 on there now.
Apologies if the Neo doesn't work the same way.

I've just found a similar post, which seems to have ended with the same conclusion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305966
To unlock fastboot, I paid someone else to do it with their credits for setool.
Of course, having a locked fastboot shouldn't stop you from upgrading but I'd guess it'd have to be to a specific version that your supplier has modified.
Maybe it sees the CWM install and views it as non-standard. It might be worth flashing a stock recovery and trying again.
I realise that Flashtool was able to put the phone into fastboot mode. I imagine this "locked fastboot" terminology doesn't quite cover what it really means.
You can use flash mode, back button, greenlight with a locked phone ( sim and bootloader). Fastboot menu key, blue light needs unlocked phone ( sim)

Repair your X10 via SEUS PC Companion if you tried to / or have unlock(ed) your Bootloader.
If you haven't, unlock your Bootloader using one of the tutorials.
But i'd recommend checking if you can unlock with s1tool first.

If you didn't already have your bootloader unlocked and tools in place to reload the Android operating system (ie, ROMs or disk images), I strongly suspected you are completely screwed.
You can install an OS from scratch on your phone, but you need a specialized environment and tools to do so and those are often proprietary and/or secret. It is far easier to load a disk image (ROM) than do a base install. Either way, part of the process is an unlocked bootloader so that you can boot into an environment/tool instead of the existing OS. If you don't have a way to boot into something besides the installed system and have pooched that system - generally the only way you as a consumer have available to hack the bootloader - then you're up the creek. – Logos Apr 6 at 12:34
so basicly there saying if you did not unlock bootloader and a way of booting OTHER then the system itself ... you bricked it ..
if you cant flash
cant use recovery
whats left ?
If this hasnt bin solved another person had the exact same problem and got it fixed it seemed to be driver related (pc wise)
Only other info i can share is he used wotan to repair wich requires a fee ...

[Q] Soft-brick after flashing

Hey guys,
first of all i need to state that i am an asshole. i used to flash kernels and stuff when i had LG optimus one, and i just assumed that flashing xperia p is almost the same. oh, i didn't know about bootloader. so, everything mentioned is totally my fault and i can't blame anyone but myself.
the situation is as follows: i install root, cwm, and then i flash sliding_xp kernel and MoonBreaker ROM just like manual says.
then, of course, my phone won't start - only vibration and nothing more.
OK, i google, and i find out that i need to flash stock kernel to save the phone.
OK, i install flashtool, and:

06/057/2013 23:57:35 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
06/057/2013 23:57:37 - INFO - Device disconnected
so i, like, have only two second to flash. i tried to do it and failed.
my PC runs win8 x64 and has no USB 2.0 ports, only 3.0.
i can't charge as well as it also disconnects after a couple of seconds. battery before flashing was about 60%.
any suggestions what can i do? i tend to try another PC, but i don't have any now.
@sciezka
Have you flashed with your PC before?
Jave you installed drivers from flashtool (specifically the 2 at the bottom of the list, fastboot & flasj mode)?
Try installing them following the steps in this post.if it doesn't work see the first post in that thread.

actually i failed even to do repairs with PC Companion with similiar symptomes (green/purple light goes off after a couple of seconds), but i did this with another PC. that's why i tend to do it again.
btw, but DooMLoRD easy rooting toolkit worked fine on my PC, but i guess it uses different drivers.
i also tried to do steps from that post you mentioned, but x64 restricted this modification. all i get is error message.

The rooting toolkit use adb device.
What you got error for the command lines or driver installation?
You need to run command line as administrator.

Don't even bother to flash untill you install the drivers and make sure flashmode stay on for ~45 seconds.
Did you install the drivers again in non safe boot ?
Is there a disable driver signing option in windows 8 boot menu? you can try that as well.

Likely.
Device is shut off with force shutdown?
EDIT: do you mean with windows 7 in safe mode? Win7 don't have safe boot option.

I meant force shut down, hold power + volume up for about 10-15 seconds untill you feel 3 vibrations, then try flash mode and fastboot mode.
Don't flash anything just leave flashtool open to see if they are on for more than few seconds.

It's difficult to tell a boot loop that ends before the logo come on from driver problem, but worth checking the device is off.

actually while your advice was great, it appears that the other thing i did made the difference since after i reverted it i couldn't connect anymore.
my laptop has only usb 3.0 ports, but you can fix the way they work (i'm not a specialist, but i say what i understood).
in BIOS you cand find USB settings. there you need to switch off xhci and switch on ehci. that allows to connect like i need. maybe this could be helpful for someone else.
