I can't seem to download attachments from XDA
I'm scanning the QR code, it opens up the browser and starts the download but immediately fails.
Filesharing sites doesn't work either.
^I know it can be fixed using another browser, but I really like the stock browser
Fixed using another browser? Well not for me. When downloading attachments, you do need a program on your phone that's capable of reading the formats you're wanting to download.
Like a filebrowser for APK's. I'm not sure, but I thought 'My Files' doesn't support this feature, hence you need another one like I/O or Estrongs.

XDA Forum,
I am quite a newbie when it comes to changing the stock software with devices (although I navigate stock software fairly well) and I had a question about the location of Browser Downloads.
I already installed preware and updated the basics for my touchpad (not overclocked yet), and I installed the file browser Internalz. I was trying to find the location where the browser downloads its files so that I could download and view necessary pdfs without going through box.net. I enabled the option to view hidden files and alas I am still lost.
Basically whenever I download a PDF from the web the browser opens a new card and asks if I would like to download. I hit it, it downloads, and then poof I can't find the file, even when I enter USB mode.
I was wondering if there is anyway to track the file and open it through a third party file browser so I can at least sometimes try to find a file a downloaded (whether it be PDF or not).
Thanks!
I have the same issue.
I can't download any documents with the native browser, so I'm using the enhanced one.

Does the enhanced one let you download and set your area of download properly? Also, which one are you using and is it off preware?
My wife gave me a White Galaxy S II international version from Amazon.com for Christmas.
I first noticed this with the stock internet browser.
I am having a little problem with the podcasts section on Engadget.com. As soon as the page is near or finishes loading, the browser crashes and I'm returned to the launcher.
If I am quick enough to long press on the .MP3 link to download the podcast it crashes without the save prompt showing up and the download isn't started.
I downloaded Dolphin Browser HD and I get the same results. This is the browser I used on my Inspire 4G with no problems.
This is viewing the desktop version of Engadget.com, also with either Android or Desktop as the user agent.
I don't have trouble loading pages on other sites.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Just tried it myself and it worked fine. Are you trying the "save link" option? You could try "download all files" application from market. I've got it installed because I've had a problem in the past.
DoubleTwist
Try downloading the app doubletwist you don't need to sync it to your computer or use air sync all you need to do them is download the item again
Hope this helps
Not to be rude but I'm looking for a solution, not a workaround.
I could just stream it from the website or the Engadget app, but I want to download the podcast from the page as I'm reading Engadget posts without starting up another app to do something I could do easily on a much simpler and lower quality phone. The building at my work tends to kill wifi and cell signals so I need to download the podcasts to listen to them.
I did have cyanogen installed on my Inspire. I wanted to see if I could use this phone without ROMs.
Thanks anyway.
download all files from market , the stock browser doesnt download all file extensions mate , that could be the reason
dolphin browser is quite useless to download files...the best one to download files are the opera mobile. i used that to download basically everything....try it...

Like I said "download all files"
Just install it then use the stock browser to download the pod cast
The stock browser and dolphin can download mp3s from other sites. My Inspire 4G running cyanogen could do it, too.
Apparently there is some code on the Engadget page that my phone doesn't like.
The browser crashes as soon as the page either finishes loading or right before it finishes. It had nothing to do with downloads.
Edit: I installed Opera Mobile as recommended above by kruznix and the page loads properly.
I'm still curious if anyone knows why this is happening.
I just upgraded from ICS to Androwook's JB version. There is an online forum I visit that I previously had no problems with.
Now, when using the browser I cannot see the embedded youtube videos on the page, and my torrent app (tTorrent Pro) keeps opening and saying "the torrent file is corrupt", as if loading this webpage is auto loading a torrent file. I am quite sure these online forum webpages don't have torrent files.
Anyone have suggestions? Here is the specific forum page in question:

I presume that Flash is working on your browser.
Can you watch the same videos on youtube?
Have you tried uninstalling your torrent app? - I've forgotten the correct Android term but if you have downloaded a file Android may offer "file type" associated apps to open the program and you could have created an incorrect link.
Thanks for your suggestions. I uninstalled the torrent app like you said, and also upgraded to the latest Flash release (Androwook's Hairybean 1.3 came with an older version). Problem fixed. Installed torrent app again and no problems anymore.
I've been having a problem downloading pictures or files from the internet. It will just constantly pop up in the notification bar as "download unsuccessful" immediately. Anyone else had this problem, know of a fix?

I had exactly the same problem; trying to download .pdf files from my home server. In fact, ANY type of file just resulted in "download unsuccessful" - even a 'test.txt' file linked on a page would open in the stock browser but wouldn't download. Annoyingly, I _could_ download files from an externally-hosted website of mine.
- many hours pass as I think it's some setting on either the SIII or my Synology NAS box web server -
The Solution:
As found on several sites... use another browser!
BUT:
I tried Chrome on the SIII and it wouldn't download files either.
Looking more closely, the "download unsuccessful" notification for e.g. MyPDFfile.pdf would show as "<Untitled>" using Chrome in 'Other downloads' and "MyPDFfile" (i.e. without the .pdf extension) in 'Internet downloads' using the stock browser.
Then I tried Opera Mobile - this worked fine.
Note that Opera doesn't generate notifications and downloads don't appear in the Downloads app's lists, they just get sent to Files: /storage/sdcard0/Download.
Conclusion:
I think there's some incompatibility between some web servers and the various browsers, if you find you can't download a particular file, try another browser. However, it may be that no single browser will work all of the time.
Note:
I came across several sites suggesting clearing data and cache from several apps on the 'phone - I tried all these several times and had no success with any of them.

To use blocked websites try incognito browsing or any vpn app....
If hosts is problem then try to disable data saver in those browsers if present....
