I usually don't reply to these types of threads, this time I just couldn't resist.
"I see there are threads about flashing evo's to Metro PCS but i was wondering if they are all work the same for EVO 3D" Simple question, are they the same phone? no. Search, read, comprehend, learn. Root is required to do many things such as flashing to another carrier. If you don't know this then I really don't think you should be flashing anything in the first place. You are the type that will fry their phone due to ignorance and laziness and then try and get Sprint to give you a new one or come on here complaining.
"I want an step by step instruction on how to flash it to Metro PCS with everything working "
You start with "I want" and then end with a smiley like that makes everything ok. Seriously, if you want, do it yourself. Plenty of people on here, myself included, are willing to help. I can't think of one of them, myself included, that enjoys being commanded into what one individual wants.
To sum it up, no you can't. While you're waiting though, may I suggest some light reading.

welcome to the waiting game.
i check these forums every day waiting for permanent root so I can try tinkering with it.
once we have permanent root I can buy an Evo 3D and my first steps will be to test out all the qpst and epst settings from the Evo to see if they work and keep trying different things until I get it working or (more likely) someone on here will.
once there is root i will approach the guy who did the best job getting all the features working on the Evo 4G on MetroPCS (bloodykiller86 i think is his screen name) but until we have permanent root = no dice.
so welcome. wait and be patient.

WTF???? seriously dude....i messed up my first evo when i was trying to flash it boost mobile, i went and bought another one and i was more careful next time till i finally got it working 100%
why do u care if he goes and asks sprint for another phone???
is the money coming out of your pocket??? we are all trying to learn here man. yes we are all ignorant when we dont know something but thats why we try so we can learn. not to get some1 who is a senior member of a forum to call us a bunch of names....u r a developer??? well nice im happy for you, i wish i was as smart as you....but you dont have to be a smart ass to people.
i seriously hate when some1 asks something and some1 who knows the answer starts been a smart ass.....anyways YES you can flash the evo 3d to metro pcs, but talk and text only. i tried entering the profiles in qpst but it didnt work, i tried changin the ppp and mip settings but it didnt work. the settings stick which means you dont need root to change all the profile usernames n pass.
like i said in my regular evo i didnt even need root and the phone would get text/talk and web just by changing the mip n ppp settings. from what i know metro doesnt use proxies anymore......but anyways if you need help with talk n text let me know i can probably help you
you should buy cdma ws.... so you dont have to mess with all those methods to get msl code, with WS all u do is hit read n ur done, its worth the 99 bucks

In a way, yes. As any company finds it less profitable to do things a certain way, they end up reducing perks and/or raising prices.

I don't believe anywhere in my previous post did I call anyone any names, I don't do that. I am not a developer, there are far smarter people on here than me. What I do though is try and learn as much about this stuff as I can so I can help myself and others. If I do have a question, I ask, but is not without extensive searching on the matter first. In many cases just reading the stickies will answer most question people might have.
My tone may have been a bit harsh (I had had about a 12 pack and I'm attempting to quit smoking so that will do it). I still stand be my previous post though, search, read, comprehend, learn. If you still can't find your answer, then by all means ask, don't demand.

You can flash without root if u have the correct parameters, i have mine flashed onto reliance cdma in India and it works very well and root isnt required

Hi Charan,
Do you have any site or any details on how to flash Evo 3d to Reliance CDMA since i am planning to get one. Also does the phone is required to have a clean ESN?
Apart from these i have never used CDMA in India. Can you tell me if Reliance has good internet plans for CDMA?
your help is highly appreciated
Thanks,
Hitesh

Just use the methods for ALL other HTC ANDROID phones to metro/cricket.. Thereis nothing that needs to be done that NEEDS root just get the metro info (your mobile number AND MSID) and have metro add the esn on their network. The esn does NOT need to be clean either that ONLY matters on sprint networks... After u get the info needed ##data# and put the info in. This w ill give u voice/data/sms. Mms may work the same as well (apn backup and restore) and delete the old apns and add a proper one.

I already have a metropcs number and I have the MSID and all those numbers saved from when I put my OG Evo 4G on metro. I also have BloodyKiller86's conditioning guide for the OG Evo. you think following those instructions I could get the Evo 3D working after I add the ESN to their database?
lastly, do you think the APN I used back then for the OG Evo would work on the Evo 3D as well?

can someone please post a guide on how to flash to metro???

Go in the Evo 4G forums here and search for "metropcs conditioning guide" by bloodykiller86. You still need someone to add the esn to metro's database first, no way around it.

EDIT: by the way, until now there is no way (that I know of) to get MMS to work...however, if both people have Evo 3D, TwinPic does send 2D and 3D images over internet so it works just fine over MetroPCS' network. that's how my wife and I share images right now.

I dont understand!

Lets just do it right and get a unrevoked method for simple [email protected]

I just had a suggestion, we should just make it simple for this fine phone and devs
or someone should develop a simple unrevoked root and unlock method just like the evo uses.
Current methods are rediculous, all though i got it done, its a hassle for others.
We need to get clockwork through rom manager and get this phone goin with some rom development
the hassle of unlocking bootloader is to much!!

seriously dude? you think that this thought hadnt crossed anyones mind? unrevoked does htc, hence why there is no unrevoked for all the locked moto bootloaders. rather then complain about it take a dive, learn some code figure out how things work and try helping.

Guys, let's not let this forum get away from us. I've been apart of other forums that have been ruined by this same sense of entitlement. This stuff will all happen but you have to be patient. The Photon has only been out a very short time.
Besides, rooting is a very simple procedure with ADB. As Shabby said, the one click is on the way. Ticking off the developers is not the way to get things done faster. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Please remember that before posting nonsense like this.
This thread is hilarious.

Obviously written by someone who didn't have an Evo on launch day, and doesn't remember that Unrevoked wasn't out until the phone had been out for quite some time. The original root method for the Evo was considerably more difficult than the new Photon method.

Exactly.....I seem to remember it being like 16 or 18 steps, with some flash websites and and several reboots involved......I remember it took me like 3 hours...this one took me all of 5 minutes following the instructions so graciously provided.....I personally would like to thank Shabby, Y4J, and Caulk, and everyone else for even getting root and an unlocked bootloader option so quick.....OP be thankful for what you got, when I was your age there wasnt even such a thing as a cell phone.....let alone a smartphone that can run NORAD off half of its CPU ....seriously

By the way you type and spell, maybe you are just too dumb for a method like this. I am a complete noob when it comes to rooting and didn't have a single problem following the instructions. Don't assume that others are as stupid as you are. Most people here are happy with what has been given to us.

Totally agree. He had a suggestion, he did not insult anybody's intellectual property, nor did he directly or indirectly insult any dev for not putting out good work. He simply indicated that current methods are a little involved and that in an ideal environment, we should strive for simplicity. I don't know any dev worth their salt who isn't compelled to debug their code, to improve it, and to learn from their mistakes. Frankly I'm a little surprised at the reaction. Especially the comment about wanting to put the OP "out of his misery." Where I come from, any analogy to terminating somebody's life is incendiary and uncalled for.
no it wasnt a suggestion, it was a call to the devs to hurry up and make things.

again my issue with it is here is a guy who hasnt done anything saying this needs to be done. if someone steps up and says hey i wanna do this or starts to ask question so they can contribute. ive no issues with helping them, but to bold face claim that things need to be done, and on a timely schedule is an issue for me.
why? coming from the epic im sure a lot of users can agree with teh issues that phone had, too many people were run off by people demanding crap.
Guys please ignore these type of threads.... Comming from the epic i would hate for 99% of users to lose great amazing devs because of the demanding 1%

I think there is a slight misunderstanding, based on other posts answering this question. Think the misunderstanding is occuring because the OP asks for information on how to "read" the MEID.
As opposed to just being able to "read" the MEID, he is looking for the QXDM location to "read" the MEID, not places in the stock ROM to read the MEID. Also, the only reason people want the MEID location through the QXDM would be to modify the MEID. I could be wrong, and if so, there are a few locations to just read the MEID, QXDM mode is not required to just read the MEID.
Regarding being able to read the MEID location through QXDM mode. Wish I knew more on the subject but I've only heard a very little. The issue on this device being similar with the EVO Shift all due to the EMMC type of memory. I've heard due to the EMMC style memory on this device, the locations or addresses to the locations can be *floating* or *dynamic*?
I haven't verified that information at all so not sure how helpful it will be but maybe it'll help point in the right direction ...

EVO 3D Radio 0.97.10.0808
2.3.4 H.Boot 1.5

Radio - 0.97.10.0808
Does anyone know the mem location for this radio?
Or the correct radio.
Please any help would be great please PM me.
@ ezfilez
More than likely since its a newer radio you will have to do a memory dump and use a hex editor program to find the locations. I haven't seen any users posting were the location are for that radio. If your wanting to swich phone carriers what might work for you is to find out what radio users are using currently to flash over to the carrier you want because someone should already have the esn & meid locations. Then flash that radio. Then you can search and easily find out what xda member has switched over to the carrier you want to and send him/her a pm asking if they will share were the esn & meid locations are, and I'm sure they will.
Hope this helps.

[Q] NEED HELP!! Evo 3d to boost mobile.

Hello,
I have been trying hard for the past week and the result is tha I now have a phone that doesn't work. I can assure you that I have tried hard to do my best to research this before I came asking for help.
But all the info I have compiled is mostly out of date, or gives instruction for the evo 4g and not the 3d, or is incomplete.
To help you guys understand where I'm at. I already have an sanyo incognito and have got most of the relevant information from it. Its also activated and on the boost network.
I also purchased cdma workshop already for 108 bucks. I know am at the part where I have to find the esn and meid numbers on the 3d but no matter what I do i keep getting and error saying the address is out of range.
I have read on forums on this site where people were saying to just buy cdma workshop rather than using copies that were downloaded from elsewhere and that it made the process so easy and now I feel that I may have wasted money for no reason. Please if anyone would be so kind as to really help me out. I would greatly appreciate it.
Well scratch that. I got voice and 3g and 4g plus text to work. Only issue now is mms.
Scratch that again. Solved the problem. Issue was just old info. Well lol I guess I didn't need help after all.
But if I can help anyone else out let me know. Might even make a guide......

can you guys help me? plzz ?
GSM means the phone uses a sim card and CDMA doesn't. Sprint and Verizon are CDMA. Look at the stickies in either the CDMA or GSM Android Development whichever you are. There you will find how to root your phone.

I'm really new to this too - I'm no expert.
To expand on Kevin130's info, GSM and CDMA are basically different mobile network types. They are not compatible so a phone is either gsm or cdma. In terms of where you are, I'd guess you're on GSM. Have a look at Wikipedia below, if you're with either of the listed Operators you are on a GSM network and have a GSM phone.

I've had a big fail and success at rooting my phone. I would strongly recommend that before you try again, read as much as you can on xda or other android forum sites about rooting phones. It's really worthwhile to understand as much as you can about it before trying. Although it's quite hard to wreck your phone by doing something wrong, it can still cause you a lot of pain to try and fix problems you don't understand.
For some entry info on rooting android, google 'beginners guide rooting android'
Also search for thread here using keywords like 'guide' 'root' 'evo 3d' - I think you are better off following guides specific to HTC Evo 3Ds.
Also search for guides or threads or any tips relating to your HBOOT version. One thing I've learned is that pretty much each HBOOT version requires different steps to unlock/root.
Read the whole guide and comments before you start. The first time i tried rooting a phone I jumped straight in and almost broke it. If I'd just read more I would have saved hours or days trying to undo things.
As I said I'm really new at this, so that is really all I can provide by way of help.
Good luck and hope you have fun with it.
cheers
If you reboot into the bootloader (put the phone off, pull battery, replace battery, hold volume down + power untill bootloader shows) you can see if you are gsm or cdma.
It will say 'shooter' or 'shooteru'
shooter is cdma, shooteru is gsm.

Flash or bring to a new carrier?

Im looking to bring my sprint note 3 to straight talk because it seams to be the best deal but i have never moved a cdma phone to another carrier before and would like to know what all i need to do this. i keep reading a whole bunch of payed services that can do this but im a computer guy and most of the time i can do it my self. Help me achieve this goal please! boost or virgin mobile would be awesome too. I looked at another thread but as i said it was not what i was looking for so please dont spam repeat or close this out since i have yet to find a person who can answer this. (example -- yes use adb and follow guide..... yada yada yada) There is none btw.
Ting.com if you don't use much cell data is the best deal around.
