Has anyone been able to get Darky's ROM (any version) to work on a rooted Samsung Fascinate I500, I know it works on the I9000 but can't get it to work on my Verizon Fascinate?

That's for GSM phones, not CDMA like ours. So no, it doesn't work for us, unless someone port it over.
Also, this needs to be in Q&A.

According to navenedrob, we can port i9000 roms yo the Fascinate. He's supposed to release something soon. Idk how well that's going though.

Yeah, I'm running Com ROM 2.0 now, but I was wanting darky's rom because of the speed it has. My friend has a T Mobile version of the fascinate with darky's on it and it's so much faster than mine, his benchmark score is usually 3300 while mine is only about 950.
Then you're not running voodoo....

I assume you're scoring is Quandrant based.
The rom, no matter which it is, will guarantee results like that. However, if you are scoring in the 900s I'd say you are not voodoo enabled. Voodoo will double that score. If you want higher, you will need to over clock. AOSP roms run much faster because they trim the touchwiz "fat", and when overclocked to the experimental 1600mhz, can produce 3000+.
But as usual. Quadrant scores should be weighted so heavily.
it says that voodoo is enabled, which ASOP rom do you recommend

It may say voodoo enabled if using an older cwr, even if it is not really enabled.
As long as you are using a voodoo kernel, choose the option to enable voodoo and reboot. If you hear the female voodoo voice, then you will be taken through voodoo conversion. You will then notice a difference in speed.
As for aosp roms, miui or cm7, however, considering the lack of a source code from Samsung, the devs here have had to piece things together as they come up with them, which thus far has been amazing , however, if you make a jump to either of these roms, be forewarned that mms is not functional, and since both these roms convert your partitions, if you ever want to go to any other rom, you will have to Odin back to stock and recreate your original partitions.
Personally I would recommend getting used to your phone before jumping to aosp
Correction.... mms working on miui so expect both to be updated soon with fully functional mms.

if you base this off quadrant, 1 voodoo is disabled or u are using an rfs kernel...and your friend is mostly likely running voodoo and overclocked to like 1.6 or something...not a good comparison...but honestly ive never heard of an sgs 1 phone hitting that high on a touchwiz rom
Just an fyi. Im Running cm7 overclocked to 1.5ghz scored 2700+ on quadrant.

I am only posting this so those who like to try new things can try this setup. It is not for everyone, but my phone is amazingly snappy, apps are opening pronto, and my battery/gps are perfect.
I am currently running Eugenes Ginger Clone R2:
http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=144
Notes: this does not have the shortcuts in the notification bar and also does not have swype (note the name of the ROM.... dont complain about this).
After my initial boot and getting everything all setup I flashed the JL4 stock + voodoo, found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480
With Eugene and supercurio combined the only way I am going to shift from this is if they themselves update, or Cyanogen comes out... stronly suggest trying this out. Be certain you are comfortable with this before trying it. You will need to disable voodoo before flashing anything else.
to disbale, go to the sdcard/voodoo folder and create a file named "disable voodoo" (without the "'s") and then reboot... it will then convert back from EXT4.
HUGE THANK YOU TO EUGENE AND SUPERCURIO - my phone might as well be the Nexus S (but with an SD Card and Gorilla Glass)!!
Anyone else running this? Do you agree that others should try it?
Not what I'm running, but lets make this a "my ideal setup until CM" sorta thread, which is how I read the subject line at least.
So far, my favorite themed setup was Frobuntu, but I had some issues with system processes chewing up CPU. So now, Blackhole. 1.1 was great, just flashing 1.2 now. Customizable - I love that. Just pick what I want in ROM Manager and it loads up. No hunting down extra files to flash or ADB push, dealing with megaupload, hotfiles, etc. I think I'm staying here until we get a CM or true AOSP build.
This setup sounds like one I've seen before if I could only remember where I saw it ohh I'm running it and it is fast but I put swype back in it I like the speed of swype the jl4 modem wasn't giving me the best connection but jl1 is pretty good but my phone is running fast as fast can be

I upgraded this from ttabbal's dragrom which i injected AOSPish 1.1 into, with BLN. I might change GC R2 over with ttabbal's dragon kernel and use BLN.
But right now, "stock" kernel is fine.

Been getting this (at least) for a while already with Axura + Voodoo. Maybe typical for many of the popular roms when combined with Voodoo. When the 2.2.1 based ROMs become stable on the Vibrant, combining that with Voodoo might make me want to change. Other than that, short of GB Stable becoming available I probably won't see the need to change.

Just curious if anyone has downloaded and is currently using the t-mobile froyo that was released today and can give us the run down compared to what we have.
Its a bit laggy the gps doesnt work, it worst than the eclair gps. Good things aboit it is it has wifi-calling and tmobile tv if u want it my quadrant run was 880s when I was running 1500s with a rom. The roms are better I personaly liked auxura or nero v5

thinking of flashing this now...
I recently installed PowerWashed GB v2b3 and it appears as though I now cant install apps specific to Verizon Wireless (e.g. NFL Mobile). On the web version of the Android Marketplace it show my phone as "Mid-Tex Cellular Samsung SCH-I500" and says its incompatible for any of these apps.
Ive loaded several ROMs in the past on my Fascinate and have never run into this issue before. Is there any workaround to this or do I need to find a new ROM if I want these apps?
Thanks!
Ofcourse you cant install vzw apps...it's not a vzw rom. This rom was ported from the mezmerize.
Theres no mention in the initial post that VZW apps dont work and Im obviously not versed enough with this stuff to just know it should be an obvious limitation.
So is there no workaround to this? I pay $10/mo for NFL Mobile/VZW video, so I guess Ill have to go to another ROM if thats the case.
Thanks.
If you read thru the pages in that thread it was mentioned in there, but thats alot of reading lol. Sorry man your going to have use a different rom Im pretty sure. Maybe go back to powerwashed froyo?
Ah bummer... I did scan through the first few pages, but I guess I missed that one!
While I have your attention and you seem to know a bit more about this than I do; you mind offering suggestions to a couple questions?
1. Is there another GB ROM available youd recommend thats just as stable but would allow the use of VZW apps?
2. If no to the 1st question, of the available Froyo ROMs, would PW be the one you'd recommend?
Thanks again. Really appreciate the info!
Since all of the gb roms are leaked versions and not vzw specific, Im pretty sure they wont support vzw apps. Im not certain about aosp roms tho. As for froyo, powerwashed, geewiz, and com rom(I think?) will support vzw apps. My favorite combination on froyo was, powerwashed 1.2 w/ 0808 pbj kernal. Has awsome battery life, very snappy, and fully functional.
Thanks again. Ill give that a go.

I'll give it a shot since this has been bothering me, I'll report back with the results.
Update: No noticeable change.
Edit: You could try this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278838 I have confirmed that verizon apps do show up and install properly. It actually seems way better on our phones than EH09 does, might have to work on a theme for this!
hey guys, my friend just got this phone, and i wanted to set it up for her. i know custom roms usually seem to have an expiration date, before whatever memory tricks they use start to rape the phone.. so im looking for something with long term support.. actually, what im really looking for, is something that has android 2.2, is stable, rooted, and will let me use the hacked camera app (the one where the power button takes pictures, and you can use it during music, and take pics under 15%), and lastly has voodoo sound.. can anyone help point me to a rom that can do this?
thank you all so very much
also i was wondering, does anyone know what 2.2 base rom is the most stable?
ComRom 2.1. Every good tweak, voodoo away, and rock solid stable.
wth oops ,
power washed ed05 is probably by far the most stable froyo rom I have used. The problem is everything froyo based is no longer being supported. Com rom 2.1, evil fascination, pw ed05, geewiz, all are great froyo roms tho...you will have to try them out yourself and determine whats best.

Hello, I don't own a Fascinate, but is trying to do rom upgrade for a friend. Which of those you mentioned is open source rom?
And for the non froyo rom, is the GPS working as good as Froyo (as in accuracy of 10m or less)? Do you have to load new bootloader or else you get rainbow issue? In your opinion, which fascinate ROM version (Froyo or GB) is more stable?

hi, playing with my phone is not really a hobby for me.. i just want something free of stock bloatware, has a working GPS, and hopefully, no Carrier IQ. So I hope you can forgive me if i'm asking a basic question that is answered somewhere in the Vibrant bible or elsewhere.
i recently flashed to CM7 because of the Carrier IQ thing.. knowing that some people were having GPS issues. If the GPS were my only problem, i could probably live with CM7, but my phone is also suffering from ' Screen of Death ' unfortunately.
I do actually really like CM7.. it is very fast.. but between the no GPS and the SOD's i'm experiencing, i need to get off of it.
so, i believe i want to go back to a Froyo ROM. From there i guess i'll try the Carrier IQ removal tool.
my question is, can i safely flash to Axura or Bionix using CWM, directly from CM7 ...or must i 'odin' back to stock first ?
thank you
Odin first

strange, I'm on cm7, overclocked currently to 1500 with glitch kernel and have no GPS issues or anything. I've used axura and bionix they are cool... But I came to cm7 to use my ps3 controller with my psx roms...unfortunately no TV-out on cm7 :-(, that would make it complete.

Just a little addition. From what I understand Carrier IQ is something that the carrier has to request. To my knowledge T-Mobile did not have Samsung build it into the Vibrant's Android builds. So no Vibrant rom "should" have CIQ. I've tried the majority of our roms and have never seen it. So I wouldn't worry too much about it; on the Vibrant at least.
The glitch kernel can be acquired through a $5 app on the market named (glitch)...note if you clock it to 1700 mhz....your phone will probably go into an infinite reboot loop.....um...merrr just got the news of cm bailing on us....oh well
