Use ti backup and freeze sync service ill post later how to adb and freeze the sync service
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
Heres how to do it with your computer you need to be rooted
open up cmd and go to the folder with adb mine is located at C:\ADB
run the following
adb shell
su (Allow the super user response on your phone if you get one)
pm disable com.fusionone.android.sync.service
reboot
Doesn't that stop all sync?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Yeah... I'm not doing that... but I think this narrows are little problem down to a common software glitch.

Im waiting on more confirmation as to any ills of this before freezing it.. Who else has the balls to do it?
Frozen
I froze mines, as so far I haven't had a repeat text in the last hour and no adverse effects as far as I can tell.
Well I'm going to do it too! Thanks for clarifying the exact purpose.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Ok im doin it.. Im gonna use bloat freezer.
Done.
If this does work and does not ill effect anything (i believe we do have a winner here folks), then PLEASE Sticky this and give credit to Lancer!
Ive only gotten 1 so far all day not sure if it was the person that maybe sent two but either way I was getting 100+ a day of duplicate texts
Actually deleted all my frozen apps and now I have close to 160 mb of free ram
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
ditto, I've done the deodex and delete thing to almost all of motoblur. I'm using the vanilla 2.2 sms, contacts storage, and calendar however I think I gotta swap some framework files to make it all work properly
for now Dw dialer and contacts is filling in the gaps. yes I can save contacts
aside from calendar its still broken.
Works for me, did it about a week ago and haven't seen any ill effect.
Done... Will post in a few days if any adverse effects. Thanks!
This indeed works! I was getting tons of duplicate texts (worst was 14 of the same one) and just messing around with freezing stuff I decided to freeze the sync service as it is only used for the sync the contacts to VZ. I didn't need that since I have all mine backed up to gmail. Since freezing it I have yet to receive another duplicate.

Turns out that it did not solve my issue.. I froze it and it was fine for about 2 days then i am getting 6-7x multiple texts again

Same here... They don't seem to be AS BAD as they were before but just got 3 in a row.
So far, it seems to be helping but that may change in a few more days.
If you have USB debugging enabled, turn that off, and reboot. It worked for me. Haven't seen any duplicates in days.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

I'm assuming its app related.

I had it do it once on mine but found their was an app I had that had a memory leak. I removed it and ever since haven't had an issue.
What app or method you to identify that memory leak
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
Uninstall apps individually until you don't have the issue. When the issue goes away you have found it.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
This happened to me only after I'd installed a new app. When that happened or it froze up, I just uninstalled the app and that fixed it. If this is happening continuously, you may try a factory reset and start over. If that doesn't fix it, time for a warranty replacement.

Ya I got a couple random reboots, and its kinda annoying, have we found a possible cause for this?
but meh coming from a nexus S im kinda used to it
Well there are different causes for everyone. It most likely is a app you have installed that has a memory leak. So I would simply use the process of elimination on each app until the issue leaves.

Help. So I was playing robo defense. Got a text and it automatically read it out loud.
Was using handcent. Deleted robo defense and handcent and its still reading them out loud with stock messaging app. Phone on vibrate or loud. Doesn't matter...
I get text it says out loud number and message..
Update: when someone sends me a text it no longer automatically pops up. I have to turn phone on for notification of text and it to be read out loud...
How do I make it stop?? Please. Thanks.

Try the accessibility menu in settings.
What am I looming for?
Says no accesibility apps.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
possibly a setting under 'voice input & output / text-to-speech settings'
I looked there. Don't really see any options. Is there a way to.turn it off completely?
It just turned on at random. Thinking bout putting it in some other language so no one understands it.
Holding off on factory reset. Until nexus comes out.

Defintiely did not install any app or let anyone install anything on my phone.
Again, it happened while I was playing robo defense, I received a text and it read it out loud while i was playing. It then started to read them no matter what.
Just did a factory reset. Hopefully that fixed it.

Same here!
I have this same issue myself, it must be a bug. Luckily it always stays on vibrate. It started out of nowhere and I don't feel like doing a hard reset yet. I looked at every single possible option and none were selected. Hope the next MR update will fix it! HTC and VZW are normally very timely and effective at updating their phones so I'm not too worried. I must say, I don't have a single other bug in this phone which is impressive for such new hardware these days.

I received multiple texts on Tuesday. However, when I mentioned it, the person who sent the texts said her phone had been acting up that day, and other people she'd texted also received multiples.
I sometimes get multiple messages. I always get ATLEAST 3 of the same MMS message. VERY annoying lol
I was having this issue and what I found is that I had my contacts in multiple places (Some on sim card, some on google, some on tmobile contact backup, some on phone ect...) I deleted everything except gmail and havent had issues since. Give thata try before you waste your breath calling care.

did u try hard resetting your phone..?
If not, try it out..
ELSE.--> try finding stock updates for your phone and flash them.
I'm running CM9 final and haven't had any issues lately. Today I received texts up to a certain point from some Ppl and some I didn't when they texted me. I can send out but get nothing back. Phone calls work fine and so does my data... Any ideas? Please help!

Well it's a pretty stable build. Which they wouldn't have released if SMS didn't work. Which means its user error. Either it's a setting u changed. , an app u have running, or u didn't full wipe before installing. Best guesses at least. Good luck , happy flashing

You might try clearing data for messaging app on manage apps.
I tried that, too no avail.

I had good luck following this guide for setting up APN on I777 on CM9 , it is for ATT. It is from Infuse forums but it works anways. If it doesn't there is an option to reset to default.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791526
*update* I ended up calling Att and tech support. After some trouble shooting he had me put my Simon into another phone to "wake it up, or un freeze" it then put back in my phone. I then got 18 texts when phone turned on. He said sometimes the Sim card gets confused from switch between towers and locks up. So really was an easy fix. Hope this helps anyone else. Thanks for suggestions!

I've had the DNA since 11/21 and I'm surprised more people are not complaining about the phone freezing up and rebooting?
I saw the other post about DNA problems and he mentioned Chrome causing the problem. My DNS froze running Chrome as well so I uninstalled that but it still freezes up when I am in the Mail and Gmail application. It does not happen with a certain action in any application so I am not sure why it keeps freezing up and then rebooting.
I do not have a lot of apps but I am using UCCW, Simi Battery Widget, and Android Pro Widgets on my homescreens. Other than those widgets I pretty much only use the Internet browser, camera, phone, Play Music, and Facebook.
Is anyone else having the same problem with their DNS randomly freezing and rebooting?
I don't think it's a phone issue, but more of an app issue? Remember not all apps are truly compatible with this phone as of yet. Sure, you might be able to download the app you want, but it may not play nice with this new device. I say start fresh, do a factory reset, and add apps all over again. I tend to stay away from apps like UCCW, BW, and so on as I think those are not really ready for this phone. Of course I could be wrong though?
If the problem occurs after the factory reset, I say exchange it for a new one, and hope it's a good phone.
Good Luck!
I discovered the same thing yesterday but luckily I was able to duplicate back to Any.DO. So I just step carefully around the app where it works.
I am using Power Widget and Beautiful Widgets on my home screen with no issues so far.
I would take the previous posters recommendations.

I just thought it was weird because I really don't run that many apps and like minimal style homescreens. I had the Galaxy Nexus and used to run all different types of ROMs (CM10, AOKP, Jelly Belly, Paranoid Android, etc.) (4.1, 4.1.2, 4.2) and I never had an issue with that phone freezing up like the DNA.
No problem here

if you are rooted, you can delete system apps using titanium, root explorer, etc, etc.
Personally, if a brand new phone is having reboots after a hard reset, it would be getting exchanged.

Why did you ditch the RAZR?
I am considering the DNA or the Razr as my next unit.
i have been dealing w/the reboots and freezing now more and more each day. sucks i'm not sure wats causing this to happen.i'm rooted and still on stock jellybean..could it be a kernel or something cause this really didnt start to happend til i changed kernels.
the only i noticed is a few of my apps were not compatible. some apps will run until i select a certain action then fc. some apps start but then shut right down. these apps just arent for the dna yet its ok delete and repeat lol
99% chance Its your kernel. The guys are doing a great job with the new kernels, but only one has been truly stable. DSB's first kernel is the only stable one I am aware of (aside from stock). I am currently on his 1.2.5 and it seems stable, but not 100% sure just yet.
