hi there fellas.. i was trying to get the themed version of my dialer but it ended up screwing it up, and now everytime i try to open my dialer, it FC's :/ i didnt even make a backup of the original contacts.apk.. so can someone be kind enough to post the stock contacts.apk

Here you go matey. I've zipped the apk and odex for you. I assume you know, but I'll say just in case, not to install the apk - you need to put it in system\apps and restart.

Edit: could you please erm upload phone.apk too, coz somehow those two are associated.. just by getting the contacts.apk is doing the job..

I tried it with the auto deodexer from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598026
The "De-odexing process" was successful. I de-odexed the /system/framework and the /system/app folder.
But if I replace the old /app and /framework with the de-odexed ones, my device doesn't startup.
Can anybody help me?
Flash the rom and then boot with logcat and search for the problem.

I'm having the same problem, do you solve it???
@ nickiberli : Download dsixda's kitchen and install it following his directions. It has all the tools you need to get started customizing ROMs. I believe your problem is that your .zip is not being signed which is another thing that his kitchen does for you.
@ ermacwins : Basically, (I'm not 100% on this explanation) "de-odexed" .apks are simply a .zip with a different extension. This allows further customization of the .apk. "odexed" .apks are split into two files, an ".apk" and an ."odex". The "odexed" .apk still contains the information that the "de-odexed" contains but is spread across the two files. To answer your question, I don't believe that a "de-odexed" rom saves you any more space than an "odexed" rom or vice versa.
@slavatore82 : Try the stuff I posted above. It should work for you. It's the method I've been using and it works great.

When you deodex your files try to set compression level less than default. Till to 0. After deodex first boot-up might take about 10-15 min.
Dont know if this is going to shine light to anyones perspective view, but it did too me.

but why in dev section???
it's located in system/app, it's called phone.apk, open it and go to res/..., there you'll find what you search

i always do it this way, open with 7zip or winrar, then res/drawale-hdpi and i pull the drawable-hdpi out into any folder, replace the images i want to change, when im ready i go back to the opened winrar or 7zip then delete the current drawable-hdpi and put my edited one in there (where the old one was before), thats it, worked for me most times

i have this weather widget from LG, i have the apk but it wont install. The installation ended with 'application not install'. I have the file extracted but i cant figure out whats wrong..i have other weather widget be uninstall for it but its the same...

did you install the apk as a regular apk or did you move it to system/apps and rebooted.
In last case, did you set permissions right (rw-/r--/r--)?
If you post the apk i can give it a try (Arc Lt15i) if you want
I install using both method, regular and copy to system/app and set the permission to rw-r-r-...but fail also.

I tried to decomplie the widget seems like it need the framework-res.apk file. So I don't think it's easy to port because it's just like our Timescale widget won't work in other devices. EDIT :I installed but ... the apk closes as soon as I try a mms
You have to extract it and copy the apk to system/app and change permissions, make sure there is no other messaging app in there when you do.
I extract it I install the apk, it tells me that it's going to replace the current mms apk.
Just rename the one already there to mms.apk.bak so you can go back to it if needed. Then paste in the one you downloaded, change permissions and reboot.
