I noticed online that there are people taking screenshots. I would like to know if there is any kind of free app, or some way of doing this. Thanks!
I use drocap. But you must be rooted. If you don't want to root, you could also connect it to your computer via USB, and use ddms in the Android SDK tools folder.

Has any anyone been able to get any of the screenshot apps to work on their Atrix? I know we can using the SDK, but that's not what I'm inquiring about. Please share any ideas or if we can even make it happen.

no luck with drocap2 for me
Any news on this?
FWIW, I sent an email to the developer of ShootMe asking for support. I never heard anything back. Just gotta be patient.
AFAIK the only working method at this point is using the Android SDK to take a screenshot from your computer. Just download and install the Android SDK (google it), hook up your phone via USB, launch C:/Program Files/Android/android-sdk/tools/ddms.bat (may be slightly off, going from memory) from the command prompt, and the program that opens will allow you to take a screen shot.

I think most people are looking for the same functionality as the iPhone has. My fiancée could not live without this function on her iPhone and it's got to be a little disheartening for some people coming from iOS to find out that Android does not have a built in feature like this.
I agree - it seems to be a result of the distinct resolution of the atrix screen. I imagine that an app will be available soon.
My project group for our senior project is developing an Android app. We are pretty much done at this point, but we have to present our app on Friday. We have done a practice presentation with a demo on the emulator, but we would like to present it on my phone.
I was wondering what is the best/easiest way to put my Android display on a PC so we can do our presentation on my phone the way it was meant to be shown.
So it would be my phone connected to a laptop, laptop connected to projector, and laptop displaying my phone's display on the projector.
This way we can also use our GPS location and use the app to take pictures which are both important parts of our presentation.
Do you have a HDMI out port on your Android device? That would work nicely.

Any examples?
And no HDMI port, its a Droid 2.
Since you said you are developing apps, i assume you've done so using eclipse, and if not
then download it. install ADT plugin, make a bogus project,
OR if you already are working in eclipse, open your project, deploy on phone using Ctrl+F11 when your phone is in Debugging mode with ADB daemon running, open DDMS window in eclipse, on the top bar click on "Device" and then on capture screen.
oops, sorry thought you just needed pics for presentation. Remote ADB is your only way then
iDisplay. It works on Mac and PC according to there description. It cost $4.99 though...

Can you elaborate on Remote ADB? Thanks!

works pretty well, a little choppy but doesn't require any special apps.

Is this for PC or can it be used in Ubuntu also?

I would say webkey is the best way to go. Its pretty amazing. Search it on the market

You don't need to install anything, it's just a java jar (executable)

Step by Step Process on how to Display (or Mirror) an Android Device Screen on PC
If you are in mobile app related business, you would have felt the need to display your phone/tablet screen on PC, especially when you wanted to give some presentation to clients.

Afaik the idisplay was meant to migrate your pc's entire screen onto your Android phones display?wasnt?
as an alternative monitor i say
i remember my LG p970 having a PC app called ' LG on screen phone '(LG OSP) that since i was(am) #### about Smartphones networking solutions, i tried installing it on my low-end toshiba laptop, and it was damn OK and working like a charm likely with 30Fps or more.
then after i ve tried many cross-platform apps like mobo made one for my Htc and sony devices, and neither of them could saticfy me with their stupid qiualities and low frame rate.
i yet have that application. But the question is whether can a dev handle some modification on it to be use on any kinda android devices?
huh... devs are asleep..
Hi All,
Wondered if anyone has any ideas for a Kies Air alternative for if oyu want to move away form stock ROMs but still be able to wirelessly move files from PC to Android devices?
I see there are many apps in the market, anyone know one that is easy and intuitive?

Software data cable from the market. Allows you to view as ftp.

Awesome. Thanks duder!
File expert is a file explorer that allows you to share folders via ftp or via a browser on your PC, so it's my call for being a so complete app.
Also, there is an app called wifi explorer which basically does the browser option that file expert has.
That.
I use an app called webkey. I have been using it on insanity rom for quite some time. I have found it to be as good as kies-air.
Edit : Webkey needs you to have root though.
you can also use "solid explorer" and using share option to have ftp connection.
AirDroid seems to be an awesome replacement for Kies Air for me.

Ok, i was looking through a few possible ways of doing this. I own 2 Asus Transformer TF300T's and a TF101. Bot of my TF300T tablets have the keyboard docks. I saw a few different Windows OS emulators for android devices and was wondering if, due to not having an actual computer to use, I could actually use a Windows OS emulator on my TF300T to root another device? I know it is a long shot, but I would like to know what the developers on here think about it and also, if it actually could be done, and how the best way to do this wuld be.
I see a lot of views, but no possible answers. The dock i have has USB port as well. Or maybe no one has a possible answer or has not tried it yet?
Another reason I ask is because my android phone, when pluged into my usb port on my keybord dock allows me to use it as a storage device. I was thinging that a windows emulator would take it one step further and allow me to actually root a device, if done properly. Plus, I did download the windows emulator that is in the play store, the good one. I am actually going to download a Windows XP img file and try and see how well it would run on my talet, but if all goes well, I wanted to try and root an android device with it. I just dont want to brick the device or screw it up somewhere along the line. If someone could give me some examples or if they know the best steps to take regarding this, please let me know.

Still nothing on this? well, i did find the one emulator app on the play store, but getting an OS to load up is causing me some issues....
I know this is super old but sparked my interest enough to do a simple goto search... youtube. Just remember it is at your own risk and could possibly not work out and losing function of your device is a possibility.. Also I don't recommend follow links in the discriptions.. I tend to get program names and do my own research (GitHub) for downloads..
Many instructions tell me how easy it is ... just attach the flash drive and then cool down the menu that is the notification... thats the problem...I get no notification on my phone that the device is attached to my phone... I go to my file manager internal storage where it is allegedly also listed... not on my phone though... no siree which conjures up great disappointment on my part can anybody help this guy who's at the end of his rope? why has life become so complicated?
Hi, nice to meet you. To transfer android phone photos to flash drive, maybe you can do that by using a third-party program from the computer. First, connect your Android phone to the computer via USB cable. If your Android phone can be detected by the computer, you can do that easily. Such program like Coolmuster Android Assistant will scan out all data on your android phone, including photos. Then you can preview and choose photos you want, and export them to the computer. After that, you can transfer them to the flash drive via PC. Hope this will be your help.
Welcome to XDA
What kind of phone do you have?
A Android file manager can be used.
Samsung's come with one but 3rd party ones work too. I use the Samsung one a lot because I like it's layout.
