Have you tried ##786# and click on factory default reset but you have to know your msl #. Hoping that it restores back to stock version.
did you know what you'v just sayd?
firmware cannot reset itself to the basic if upgraded it factory reset cannot be
helpfull here...try'd it 3 times and guess waht?
OK i'v done it flashed the phone back to MR3 with RSDLITE i almost peed in
my pants when the phone started and stuck'd on the "NOW" after the reboot.
the phone flash'd but again having "wifi error"
but the most odd thingy is when activating the phone with the Sprint zone
app the phone i was able to use wifi and after activating it the phone rebooted
its self and the wifi issue came...its something to do with this ****ty app.
If Sprint Zone is the problem then you can remove it.
I recommend you flash back to CM5, then you can install Alien ROM which does not include that bloatware. You can install it either by unlocking and using CWM Recovery or by following the instructions to setup the bootstrap recovery. Either will do the trick and you'd be happy with the result. Just my 2 cents.
i want to stay with the stock rom a little while
which carrier are you using?
and how i remove this ridiculous app?

People have told you this several times bro, you have to be ROOTED to remove any bloatware (stock apps). rooting your phone gives you administrator rights.
Root your phone, download esfile explorer, go to settings in esfileexplorer and click on the root settings, and mount settings, make sure both boxes are checked. Now go to where the file is located and long press the file and select delete. If you need to reinstall it later for some reason there are a ton of downloads for it around, so no real need to back it up. I keep a copy on my SD card all the time.
Good Luck

the strange thingy is that after flashing the phone want's to be activated first
the wifi works but after activating it the wifi wont respond anymore
if i dont use Sprint's network at all why the phone needs to be registered?
thats sooo oddddddd!

You realize you are not at the stock ROM? You are using MR3, which was a testing build and never released OTA or included stock with the phone. Thats why Yay4Juggs quickly replaced it with the final CM5 build once it was available.
i used the 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf.gz right after i saw that i had wifi error.
i flash'd it 3 times but no luck at all.
thought to roll back to the stock MR1 but i dont see it anyware with this
stock (MR1) i havent got any problems at all i upgraded to MR5 via the OTA
and having troubles since than.
the file i just mentiond is from Yay4Juggs thread.
This is the third question that you have turned onto thread in the development section!

Yes, this. Questions should be in the General section until we get a Q&A section.

Yoi should post in that thread. More information would also be helful such as rooted or not etc.

You'd have to have the stock SBF file to flash back to stock. I think Yay had it in one of his threads.
rooted, unlocked, and running homebase 2.1 with the 4.3 update when it started...now im on yay's newest .sbf update....still no change...i dont know how to do a hard reset without being able to access the settings menu on the phone...it doesnt even load to the home screen...just stays "contacting network"...i do have a signal..

What recovery have you got now if you've flashed the latest sbf? Clockwork or stock?
If stock follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267740
If Clockwork recovery then get into it and clear all user data/factory reset

SBF has not been working for myself and many other xda members... how can you use sbf to solve the problem if it won't work??? Has anyone successfully used it on the Photon? I am familiar with SBFing, but not on the photon... I know that it is the same, but it could be faulty sbf files... anyone have any tips?
The same problem
I have the same problem. I use my Photon in Russia with gsm sim card. At first everything was fine, the phone was looking Sprint's network for a long time, then gave an error that "can not be activated", and loaded on (works fine). But now, always looking for the network. And do nothing. Wipe and flashing other roms do not help.
Any ideas?

did you relock the bootloader in fastboot or by flashing the sbf file?
What file are you using to relock the bootloader via fastboot? The lock file is an sbf and has to been done via RSD.

I figured out hot to get over contacting network... just power and vol down and select Boot-Android (no BP) this will boot you up with no modem, so activation fails, select airplane mode, restart.
When it restarts it will say that the handsfree activation cannot be done with airplane mode on, just hit ok and move on.
When you get into the homescreen just turn off airplane mode. so everything is on now. the last things i need are the settings to get this working with 3g now, because i can get voice and 4g to work.
If 3g doesn't authentificate you cannot update your profile, therefor no 3g data and if you start a profile update you will get into the same loop of Contacting Network...
Also in RSD Lite my phone has a nice field that says:
Phone Type: Engineering (0000000000000000000000000000).. check the attachement

that's not the issue. the issues is that it isn't authentication with the 3g, 4g works, voice works.
I need to make it authentificate with the network so i can update the profile and PRL. My PRL is 51079.
Can anyone post the 51082 prl. I want to see if that does anything.
I hate to do this but a real fix is to call sprint and ask for
Msl
Esn
Min
data profile username and password
Then go to dialer
type ##data#
Edit accordingly
Reboot
update msl
Update profile

Okay, I have done some basic searching and generally have an understanding, but since my MoPho is my first Moto Android, I haven't used either before. I just want to confirm that the SBF is a rough equivalent to an RUU from my Evo days, however I have to use RSD Lite to utilize the SBF. Is that correct?
I want to make sure that before I start flashing and messing around I at least know the right terms to ask questions about.
I have the same question, hope someone please describe it,
To do SBF through RSD
is the photon need to rooted?
is the photon need to unlock the bootloader?
what if the photon rooted but the bootloader locked, can I still able to SBF through RSD??because everytime I trying to SBF through RSD I always failed, anyone have an idea??
THX
Yes, RSD is how you would "flash" an SBF file. It's the proper way to do it.
As for being rooted, no you don't have to be. Being unlocked, again, don't have to be. Now, onto failed, what file are you trying to flash through RSD? And are you in RSD mode in the phone? (Power down, hold volume button down and power back on, when you see "fastboot pop up at the top of the screen, hit volume down til you get to RSD then volume up and you're in RSD mode, and can flash things via RSD)
Hope that was helpful.

Yes, I have in RSD mode, there is some write "starting RSD protocol" up on my Photon screen, am I right?
I just want to fix my Wifi and 4G connection, and as far as I know that by upgrading my Photon from 198_6 to 198_7 I can fix my problem, for your information I cannot activate the phone via sprint, because I live in the country where sprint have no network available, any idea??
THX
Try changing your USB ports and see if that works. If you're on a desktop, try using the rear ports rather than the front/side ones. Other than that, it should work. You're on RSD 5.5 correct?

I'm really sure my USB cable and port are OK, because my Photon is new
Update : I try to do RSD to 154 SBF and it works, but when try to upgrade it to 198_7 I face the same problem like before (upgrade from 198_6 to 198_7) ok that my first probelm,
my main problem abot WiFi and 4G connection after I flash into 154 SBF still occur, I can't use both of WiFi and 4G, when I tap WiFi it said error, it happen after I dont activate sprint (note : in my country there isn't sprint network), any idea to fix it permanently?? I have read that there is some trick to fix it throug airplane mode, but every time I reboot my Photon my WiFi and my 4G connection will error again, any idea??

After you flash 154 do you flash 198_6 again?

Actually I just want fix my WiFi and 4G problem, so I just try to upgrade it, if there are some other way to fix my WiFi and 4G connection permanently, I will be very gratefull

So you have tried going from 154 straight to 198_7? If yes, and it failed, try 198_6 then 198_7. If not, then go straight from 154 to 198_7.

Look like the WiFi problem come from the "activate sprint" issue, because when I succed to flash to 154, it still got an error, so now I try to figure about how to skip the sprint avtivation and also how to read message from my network, every time my network sent me a message, I can't read it, it just write " MMI Complete", any ideas?

There are already at least two threads on this - Search is your friend.
To unlock .141 do NOT flash the 2.3.4 full sbf - instead - flash JUST the unlockable bootloader here > http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34025287/4547-fix-try2.sbf
and unlock with fastboot. Flash that with RSD lite - it is NOT a full system or service sbf, its ONLY the unlockable bootloader....
Sorry, and thanks. :b

I'm in the same boat as you, I had a warranty replacement and i tried that unlock sbf and i got failed to boot. Error no RSD or nothing. Sucks!
Edit: I was able to get into fastboot using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22583493&postcount=139
same issue, but Linux user
Got a warranty replacement phone, (Linux) sudo ./moto-fastboot oem unlock doesn't work w/ 2.5.6 and 4.5.141. I think I have the sbf you recommended flashing first above, but you said to use RSD Lite, which is a windows program I think. Can I just boot the phone into RSD mode and use the sbf_flash program to flash the 4547-fix-try2.sbf or whatever it is?
FWIW, I've had MAJOR issues with the OS since I tried to go back to stock from CM7 when the wireless chip in my first phone died. Now the status bar at the top of the screen disappears and crap shifts up several pixels, you can't grab it and bring it down so it's not autohidden, the phone won't switch automatically to incoming calls, etc etc... it's essentially useless as it is (in some sort of botched up "stock" mode). Tech support turkeys say "do a factory reset" which doesn't help.
So I'm just trying to get CM7 back onto the phone so I can use it again...
Does anyone know if I can update without service? I can't do a OTA, and flashing through recovery pops up a signature verification fail. I've tried to search, but the answers seem very device specific. I'm trying to get to a rooted 2.3.5-418, so I need to update from 2.3.4-380.
edit: OH! It still let me *228, so while I don't have service, I can still update. Huh.
edit2: Not from sdcard, I can't. Still have the fail. The OTA is downloading, though, we'll see if it will update that way.
edit3: Success! So as long as I can *228, I can update.

My phone is acting weird, atm, and I can't flash any custom ROM. I can't install any updates with any method without doing a *228 first (or just hitting the Android to let it do it on it's own), then I can grab an OTA over WiFi. I'm in a bit of an odd situation.

Yes, you can SBF backwards, all the way to 2.2.2 if you wish, and OTA all the way back up to 2.3.5. I've done it many times, in fact.
The biggest reason to SBF back to 2.3.4 is to be able to root your 2.3.5. You have to carry root over with OTA RootKeeper from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5.
