Hey guys, i need some help with removing installed VRtweaks, if anyone could just point me in the right direction i would be grateful..
This is my first post in this forum, and my first screwup with the SGSII..
Look in /sdcard/VRTweaks/backup
As long as you didnt apply the tweak twice the original file will be there, just use a program such as root explorer or ES File Explorer to overwrite them.
Pleases note that you will need to mount /system as read/write via the app and that you may get tons of FC's after you replace the file and before you reboot.
If the backup file from that folder doesnt work, open up the VR zip and grab the files you need out of there and overwrite as above.
Good luck.
Thanks man. I'll give it a try.

Well theres a apk in /system/app/DioDict_for_Android_LG_Swift_India.apk
permissions 0644(rw,r,r)
and theres a static library /system/lib/libDioDictEngineNative.so
and i think there was a dictionary database in the bundled mmc (a foolder called edictionary) /sdcard/
COpy these files to the directories listed above and voila! your dictionary is back
ROOT UR PHONE ,INstall ROOT explorer ,copy files, set permissions and it worked on my megatron ROM... thought might as well share it...
NOTE: If u took the NANDroid backup of your phone before installing customised ROM ...u can always extract the files mentioned above by using unyaffs.exe http://www.filecrop.com/search.php?w=unyaffs&size_i=0&size_f=100000000&engine_r=1&engine_m=1&engine_h=1
and use the system.img in your nandroid backup folder
didnt make nandroid before flashing ....
Well then look for it on filecrop.com
Can you attach the .so file here?
im willing to give my ozone wifi pass 1 gb /2 month / 2mbps to who uploads the edictionary database :|
the DIoDict Library
the library is included..i cud have uploaded that edictionary folder too..But i m on sodding 2.5g network(Its INdia) and can't even upload that..
bro i need tht edictionary :|
i formated my mmc card and lost the edictionary folder and the contents . can any one post it here if the have it ?
Is THIS the database?? Its what i could find on my card's edictionary.
But since i've installed a different ROM now, I too need the .apk for the dictionary if anyone can share...
thanks a lot
did not find diodict in my stock..can anybody upload it diodict apk

Hello everyone!
Here is a zip that contains all the files needed to make Diodict Dictionary work on custom roms (or any rooted phone):
mediafire[.com]/?umr5xvhze4wa5rc (remove "[" and "]" from the link. I am not allowed to post links yet.)
1. It contains the DioDict apk file which is in the "TitaniumBackup" folder. You can also use TitaniumBackup to restore it by placing the folder at the root of your sdcard.
2. It contains "libDioDictEngineNative.so" which you must place in system/lib folder. You will need 'root' and 'write to system folder' permissions for this. Not a big deal if you're on a custom rom.
3. It contains the databases for "Collins Cobuild Advanced", "Oxford Advanced Learners" and "StarPublications ENG-HIN" in the "edictionary" folder. You must place this folder at the root of your sdcard. The first two "Collins Cobuild Advanced" & "Oxford Advanced Learners" are awesome english dictionaries which will work offline. I don't know what the third one ("StarPublications ENG-HIN") is.
Let me know if any issues. Click thanks if I helped.
And @ccreadcc: Where is my ozone wifi pass? kidding....
Everything worked except that i was not able to paste the file.I am on CM7.
I use root explorer:
"you cannot paste here the file system is read-only"
I tried to edit the permission but say"some file do not allow permission changes"
Please Help
solution
Mount /system as writable
I don't know about Root explorer. I use ES File Explorer. In ES Explorer under Settings> Root Settings> Check both the options and you'll be able to paste the file there.
i had 2 wifi passes unused.. wonder where i put it xD
i just did !
i got success to install this on official 2.3 rom
just copy "libDioDictEngineNative.so" to system/lib folder
after that install com.diotek.diodict2.swift_india-a1c589b5691365fa3b910b4435b6d4ec.apk as u install other software .
it works for me !
thanks !!

Can someone explain how root explorer works with pushing files onto your phone. I'm completely clueless? Thanks in advance
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
root explorer u need paid version that lets u mount system as read write free version doesent do that anymore , reason for read write is u can override system files . if you just try to copy file without read write it wont let you untl u give permission to overwrite the file "R/W" (LETS SAY U WANT TO REPLACE FRAMEWORK , WITHOUT R/W U CANT JUST LIKE IN WINDOWS U CANT MODIFY FILES THAT ARE MARKED AS READ ONLY )

It's basically a copy/paste procedure, everyone uses Root Explorer to do this since it is the most common and easy to use app, you can do the same with other apps but it's more complicated and sometimes wont mount internal sdcard as R/W properly.

Hi dudes,
I wonder to know how can I backup all wifi passwords and config before switching to another Rom. I think it's container in a network manager file...
Would someone just create an app (I think it will require root access) to backup it and restore in a single click? I'd love it, since I'm getting bored to input 64 characters length passwords...
Cheers,
giopas

I second this motion!
It would be really useful and save us all some hassle...
what about saving it to a QR code and just scan it? then paste haha
-Get root explorer
-Browse you nand files and look for /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
-Copy it to your SD card
now when you flash a new ROM just place the file back in /data/misc/wifi directory using root explorer.
Wifi key recovery app seems to back up this file (I have still to test it), but it does not restore it back.
Root explorer is a paying app and does much more than needed...

Thank you very much! I didn't know about that file...
Seems like I can't put off buying Root Explorer anymore... it pops up everywhere!

Yep, it seems so... even if IMHO "Wifi key recovery" app already seems to do the first part of the job: export infos. It would be nice if someone could write the second part: restore.
Any (capable) volunteers???
EDIT: I've just bought root explorer, but I'd like that app..
btw on Galaxy S the file is /data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf
I have installed a ROM that removed a lot of bloat including the DockMode.apk which I use daily when at my desk.
I have pulled the DockMode.apk from a stock rom, and from a modified rom and I cannot get either to install using Root Explorer, APK Installer or ES File Explorer.
I was unsure if this was as easy as it seemed.
I simply extracted the ROM files, pulled the .apk from system/app and copied it to my phones SD and attempted to install it.
The file transfers to the phone fine, and the DockMode icon is there with the 331 kb file. But I get the message (install failed) when using all three of the install applications.
Any suggestions, I really do need to find a way to make this work.
Put it in system/app

It's most likely failing because it's a system app, and needs to be pushed to the /system/app folder. You can do that with adb, or you can just use root explorer. To use adb, do this:
adb remount system
adb push HtcDockMode.apk /system/app (or whatever the .apk is called)
adb reboot
Or using root explorer, take the .apk and paste it into the /system/app folder. (You must make sure to set it as r/w using root explorer). Then long press on any apk in your /system/app folder, and press permissions. Notice what they are set to, and then make sure the permissions on your dockmode.apk are set the same as all the other apps in your /system/app folder. Then reboot when you're done. That should work. If it doesn't work, then it most likely means that the htc dock mode app is dependent on something else that's been removed.
I tried both the adb push method and the root explorer method, checked the permissions and attempted to install.
Still get the "installation failed" message. So there must be something else that has been changed.
Thank you kindly for the efforts. I will try to find another ROM that is similar and still has this feature.
if you really want to get technical, monitor logcat and it should split out the real reason why it is throwing the installation error.
adb logcat, adb shell logcat or ddms are three ways to access it.
if you want to pastebin your logcat, careful as there is private/sensitive data in there sometimes, we can take a lot and try and figure out the exact error.
as mentioned above, it probably has a dependence. logcat *should* tell us which dependency it is missing when it throws the install error.
figured i would present the option, even if its not the easiest. logcat is the easiest developer route to determine the issue, in my opinion. hope that helps!

Once you put it in /system/app you don't click install. Just reboot.

Hi
I'm looking for an easy way to batch install all of my already backed up applications on external SD (in *.apk format) after new rom flashing. My phone is rooted (running RR 2.7). what if using a root explorer I just copy all the apk files to data\app and copy some of them to system\app and then reboot the phone? Will all of these application be automatically installed, while apk's copied to data\app will be installed as user apps, and those copied to system\app will install as system apps? Will this work? Is there a problem in this method? If so I may create a CWM based installer that will do this automatically...
I'm talking about 400 apps, about 600MB in total size//
Thanks
How are they backed up? What did you use to do it? I use Titanium Backup. The paid version allows batch operations.

I used an app called File expert. It can simply find the apk file used in the installation and back it up. I can reinstall the app with the backed up apk. I also tried copying a new apk file to data/app and after restarting the app did install correctly. So I want to use this method to restore all of my apps automatically by creating a CWM zip installation. I need to know if this method is safe and will not cause problems...
Thanks

No need to do any of that crap and mess around. Just use Titanium Backup Pro (paid version) and you can backup all your apps plus the app data so they keep all their settings etc. Then when you install a new rom you can batch install them all back in couple of clicks.

Don't know that app. You can define the backup folder in TiBu to reinstall your apps that way. Or iirc Rom Toolbox will take a batch of apps and create a cwm zip file to batch install.

Using CWM zip installation is actually the best method. It is safe and faster too.
Thanks. I'm familiar with TB and MB. I do not need to restore the app's data. I'm just looking for a way to install all my market apps without actually using the market. I noticed that when you reboot the phone, any new apk file in either system/app or data/app gets installed automatically. So I thought maybe I take a CWM setup file (zip with simple copy to system + data updater-script)' and add all of my backed apk's into the data/app directory then I can install this zip file right after I flash a new rom file. For some reason, CM9 recommends that you do not use TB. I also noticed that dev's use this method to add additional apps to their rom.. I just need to know that this method is ok to use and not cause problems like acquire extra space by creating duplicates of each app (I notice using this method that sometime the original apk I copied was reset to a 0Kb file, and a new apk that starts with the name "com.something.something.apk" is created instead. Is this normal?)
Thanks

I'll help you create a CWM zip template. I'll upload it in about 3 hrs time as soon as i get to my pc
This is a CWM.zip I created for you.
How to:
1. Open the zip file using 7zip, winrar or similar apps (don't extract it)
2. Copy your users apps to data/app, and copy system apps to system/app
3. Close the zip file.
4. Flash the zip file via CWM recovery.
enjoy.
