Glad to hear it is working for the flyer owners now as well as those of us with the view. Hopefully we can get S-Off as well.
i have the same address exploit on my 3g flyer
Sry, forgot to mention, mine is also 3g version
after the exploit is done all you need to do is to use the root from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138693
i got error first time i just removed the chiness or jp letters from the file name
Since there is a thread in the development section and one here I thought I would post this here and try to keep all of the information in one spot. We have gotten temp root working. I was wondering if anybody had heard or knew if the hboot on the flyer/view is similar to the evo 3d or similar to the droid incredible 2 or S? I was wondering if I should pm the guy on the evo3d forum that was able to get the perma-temp root and see if it could be modified for the flyer/view or if perhaps we should contact the alpharevx team? Any thoughts or ideas on this?
Tks habibas, worked fine for me.

kmdm from the alpharevx team is already working on getting s-off now that we have temp root, as this was a prerequisite for him to begin work on getting s-off and yes the hboot is the same as the INC S as the inc s has both hboot 1.09 and 1.13 same as our devices.
That is great to hear! I know that the temp root was a little different between the view and the flyer. I wonder if the s-off will be as well. I know there is a recovery image floating around. I am going to see what it would take to port the Amon_RA recovery image.
my htc flyer is s.on
Android Version: 2.3.3
Htc Sense Version: 2.1

I have integrated all commands from temp root in root.bat (in root.zip with fre3vo ) and run root.bat.

the htc flyer may require different exploits for the 3g version hard to say at this point. it would be nice if htc would release just one device instead of the stupid little tweaks.... Flyer wifi, Flyer 3g/4g

Congrats and mad props to Agrabren and Team WIN for punching a hole through HTCs software and getting root! Agraben now has a thread for it so make sure you thank them for all of their hard work: [GUIDE] Fre3vo / Fre3dom Official Thread
The thread got way off track for awhile there but maybe now we can keep it close to being on topic. As long as it is somewhat related to the topic you won't hear me complain, however, this is Not the place to ask about Netflix, why your Battery doesn't last all week or how you can get out of paying a dollar a day for wireless tethering. For those of you just getting your phones, if you find that your bootloader is unlocked (read: S-OFF) please send me a PM. Also, if you're still unsure about the differences between S-OFF, and Root, and what it all means; you can check out the Android Dictionary or feel free to ask in the Q&A section. I know the dictionary there is somewhat lacking but it's still pretty good.
Now that root has been obtained we are able to focus on getting S-OFF and opening these things up for ROMs. HTC is using a new security scheme with these that hasn't made it easy so far, but as is with anything new it's going to have holes that are just waiting to be found. Using Flash_image to flash directly looks to be a dead end but there are still many different angles that are being worked on at the moment. Please jump in anytime if you have an idea that you think may help.
I have attached a few things to this bottom of this post and dragonfyre13's thread has a lot of good info that is being deposited there: Root: shaking something loose [WIP]. Odds are very good our current method of getting root won't last long so it never hurts to start looking for something new early.

The incredible 2 shipped with Froyo on it, which means that there are plenty of available exploits that can be used to gain a root shell. As far as I understand, the inc2 guys didn't have a leaked eng bootloader, so once they had temp root, they had no way to unlock the bootloader without essentially hex editing the existing one and then coming up with a process to overwrite the existing one.
We have an eng bootloader for the 3VO, so all we really need to do is gain a root shell and then write the boot and recovery images and reboot - poof, s-off.
Props to the AlphaRev team for the inc2 work, but unfortunately, it doesn't help one bit for us.

I get mine today "before 3pm CST" according to UPS/Sprint... I work at 2, so if I get it before work, and the SD has this file, I will post it before I even boot the device lol.
If we don't get an unlocked bootloader, then this is where we might have to turn to an XTC clip (aka like a goldcard method). I'll reach out to the XTC dev. I know he just started a thread over in the Sensation section.

I would be more than willing to try it with mine, and I'm expecting it to be delivered to my job any minute now. However, I've never used this method and when it comes to ADB, I'm a novice.....at best.
Is there any way you can provide a quick guide as far as what the command prompts we are to type to get GingerBreak to go through? I'm sure it would be helpful to many of us.
Edit: Also, do you think I should do this before the out-of-the-box OTA update goes through? I know we are all hoping the update has the unencrypted keys, but for all we know, it may shut the door on an existing exploit and makes things harder. What do you think?
Thanks in advance!

That is not referring to the MR1 build. It says 1.0xxxx. MR1 is 1.13.605.7. That is the pre-release build that was used for downgrading in the original root process. The problem was that build had an old hboot that wouldn't interrupt the flash before the security warning happens. Which was a serious issue when we only had 2 RUUs newer than that to recover with. Anything from the release firmware (1.12.605.6) and up should be perfectly fine.

Edit: I just realized you linked to the same instructions I did and you can NOT get back to s-on with that method if you used revolutionary. Revolutionary installs a hard patched hboot that prevents it from being overwritten by any hboot without issueing a specific fastboot oem command.

Only difference between 2.08.651.2 and 2.08.651.3 is .3 has the recent security update OTA HTC/Sprint released and pushed .. a week or so ago.
Bootloader wasn't touched in the update.
Rooting should be same as 2.08.651.2 and hboot 1.5 using htc unlock method.

As I stated in my previous post in this thread, the only method avaible to root this version of the HTC EVO 3D is through HTC.
Root process is essentially two steps on this device.
1) Unlock the write protection on the internal memory
2) Load the su binary which grants root access on the device. This is generally loaded through a custom recovery.
There are a few guides sticky (meaning they are permanently at the top of the thread) in the CDMA development section. If you are unfamilar with the process and feel uncomfortable, I'd read 2-3 different guides to get a general feel for the overall process. To be honest, it is *fairly* straight forward and there are many guides posted all over.
If you're familar with ADB and fastboot, you can head straight to http://www.htcdev.com and follow their directions.
If you're interested in learning more generally about root itself, I have a free app in the market called All About Root which provides some great general information to help prepare any person looking to gain root access.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

Before questioning , you should have searched once...... It works on hboot 1.5 and any S-ON device IMO. I use it on my HTC unlocked 3D without any issues

@twolazyg
It works ,LOL. S-OFF is not necessary. The Dev of the app told me, he mentioned S-OFF on market to insure zero issues. The only problem with the app on S-ON device is , if we cant get a SLOT ROM to boot up then we need to fastboot recovery and flash update.zip located in sdcard/bootmanager/phoneROM...... this process can be skipped for S-OFF device.
Hi guys
I m having htc evo 3d with hboot 1.49.0011,s-off and locked
i have unlocked before using the htc dev method but the problem was i couldnt install ics rom but only can install gingerbread roms
So i relocked it, now i want to do the whole process again and also s-off my bootloader as my bootloader was s-on the previous time i unlocked my phone.
I do find a lot of tutorials but i cant understand them. Can u guys link me and post me about simple tutorials on how to downgrade ,s-off and unlock my phone.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471246 [How To] Downgrade and Unlock and S-OFF "Almost" Every GSM EVO 3D Out There !!!
This thread solved my 1.49.0011 Asia device downgrade to be able to s-off using revolutionary. My cid was HTC__044. No more WiFi errors
All other automated tools failed for me. Many have had success.

I just want to make it clear.
I m having the same cid and hboot as urs.
u said that u used revolutionary to s-off?
How did u do that? I tried several times but failed.
When i try the method on that thread, it shows error device not found when my computer actually can detect it.

You edit the dvblk mount and write 1.20.707.3 instead of the 1.22.707.3 using hexeditor?
Also have adb installed? Uninstall HTC sync?
Also make sure during the adb commands your getting pushed through no errors, otherwise might have to mount system read/writable with es file explorer.

Hi, you need to run adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p31 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p31.img before we can use the hexeditor to change the version on the phone right? But in the first place I can't even get my PC to recognise my phone, so how am I suppose to move forward to the next step which is to change the version?
I got the error message "Device not found".
Please advice. Thanks.
