While waiting in line to watch Harry Potter like at 9pm yesterday (shut up, i was dragged ) I decided to watch a few movies I loaded on my phone. So I loaded up Inception, a m4v files, and played it with arcMedia. Was going fine then like 30 mins into the movie arcMedia closed. Loaded the video back up, seeked to my previous position, then started watching again. About 20 mins later... The app closed again.
By the way, it wasn't force closing. It was just exiting the program it looked like. Any ideas?

Did it come up with any messages before closing? Were you interrupted by a text message or voice call? Have you tried any other long films?

Hi. I have some serious issue with my vibrant which is just 3~4 months old
Recently, my vibrant had problem playing video files. When I play a certain
video, it stops playing within 1 minute, pause, and I have to manually press "play"
again in order to start a video again. The problem is, same thing happens
after I press the play button, within 1 minute, video stops, pause, and I have to
do the same thing over and over. This happens when I play a video with stock
video player. Let's say If I play a movie with "soul movie," then the different problem
persists, where this time the video turns into black screen and then continue on
playing for about another less than a minute again. Although I do not have to press the play
button in the "soul movie", the video doesn't last 1 min before it turns into black
screen and resume again.
I haven't had this problem at all until recent days, I tried everything I could,
rebooting, re-inserting micro sd. It can't be codec problem cuz I used to play
this video flawlessly before. Now, I hope I don't have to "factory reset" the
phone. I'm very reluctant to do it. (Also, I don't know how to...)
Can anyone please help me with these issues. I'll really appreciate it
Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
try an alternate video player like doubletwist and see if the problem still persists.I know I don't use the stock music our video players for anything, they're kinda bad.

thanks for reply. I tried doubletwist and same thing happens as when i play movie with soul movie.
So, it's like
STOCK MOVIE PLAYER-----> PLAY, STOP PLAYING, AND NEED TO RESUME MANUALLY
SOUL MOVIE, DOUBLE TWIST-----> PLAY, BLACK SCREEN, AND AUTO PLAY AGAIN
THIS ALL OCCURS WITHIN 1 MIN OF PLAYING ANY MOVIE
So I have a strange one... I was watching a movie yesterday and tried to pause it but my hand moved across the screen and I turned something on... now when I watch something, it plays for 10 seconds, than restarts (just once), until I stop it and start it up again... it goes for 10 seconds and restarts the movie.
It does this with every movie player app I try (mobo, mx, etc) so it's as if it's a system setting (since all the movie apps are picking it up).
I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.6 (CriskeloRom v.38 to be exact)...
Already tried clearing the media settings (in the various media players) but this did not help. Anyone have any thoughts what I turned on and how to turn it off????
Greetings from Portugal.
Before I start, yes, I have tried searching for it. Found a couple of old threads that didn't help much...
My question is: Is there a way to watch any video format without it stopping every few minutes?
If I use the stock player everything is fine, but it cannot support several video formats like avi, rmvb... etc. I use the MX player, but on some types of video, it stopps every few minutes. It's sooooo annoying!
From what i've seen in some threads, it happens with other video apps too. AND, when i am watching something directly from the internet, like fastpasstv, the video stops loading also every few minutes. I have to restart the loading from the middle... not hard, but also annoying. (using stock browser, and this doesn't happen on youtube for example)
Is the issue related? Since it seems to be happening to both online and offline video viewing...
I am stock, non-rooted, and non-unlocked... Wifi is fine.
I have the same problem. But it is a MX Player specific one for me. BS Player works fine (but has other issues).
Edit: I tried with the 'Performance Mode' and it works so far. Maybe a workaround?
I never have this problem when streaming one of many video formats from my PC to my Prime using ES File Manager to find the video files on my PC and MX to play them as streams.
Is this something that you tend to experience with streams/videos being played directly on the Prime?
For me it is locally played .ts videos.
Meanwhile I found this thread http://groups.google.com/group/mx-videoplayer/browse_thread/thread/533d7296c0305183
It might be a Prime/ICS problem. There seems to be no solution up to now.
I get this same issue trying to stream video from sites other than youtube. It is when I'm streaming that I get most of the lock ups with the prime, reboots, etc. Maybe it is something to do with the allotted cache size of the browser being used up and cleared to make room for more buffered video?
It is rather annoying. You basically have to let it load and watch the whole thing as it goes. If I hit pause or so anything else then it risks stopping the stream where ever its at in the buffering. It's nice to have it start loading up, hitting pause, and walking away for a few minutes to let it buffer up. But then when I come back it would have just stopped about a 1/3 into it or 1/2 way. It would require hitting the reload button at the top or having to close the browser, kill it in the task manager, and then reopen it.
I don't have this issue with Netflix though. They did something right in their app.
I used to have this issue with mx player. It really sucked having to restart a movie every 5-10 minutes.
You want to use Dice Player. It's played everything I've thrown at it. All in Hardware rendering so the screen goes blank when plugged into HDMI.
Haven't had any issues since. I'm using the paid version, I assume they are both alright though.
I'm trying to watch avi videos that ive downloaded and everytime i try to skip ahead or back in the video, the progress bar will move with my finger, and then when i let go it just goes back to wherever it was. so i can only watch the movie from start to finish, which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't keep kicking me out of the app every 15 or 20 minutes. so i'll get 15 minutes through the movie, then the app (in this case mxvideo or vplayerr) will force close and then when i go back to open it again and watch the movie, i have to start from the start, no skipping back to where i was. also my stock video player wont even play these avi files. and it's nothing wierd, just tin tin andsome other movies for my son. anyone know a way around this or even experienced this?
I've never experienced that and I use MX to watch Avi's all the time. I also use it over the network with ES Explorer. Maybe check your files and play with the settings in MX.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
Dice Player is "the best" for the prime. Everything plays with hardware rendering. And it doesnt just boot back to the movie list every 5-20 minutes.
Dice Player=no more issues.
So my prime has done this as long as I've had it. Ill put a video on my prime [to my knowledge usually.avi ] and I cant open it with stock vplayer but I've got all the free ones and they open up just fine. Here's where the problem starts. I can't skip ahead usually more then 10 seconds or so. No matter how far I drag the progressbar it will only skip ahead a few seconds. It does this no matter what the video player I use. And now I'm trying to watch john Carter and it will only go about 12minutes and then just stop. Anyone experienced anything like this?
Nothing quite that bad but I did have a few of the video players just stop playing randomly taking me back to the list screen every 10 minutes or so.
Uninstall all the video players you tried and try out dice player, get the tegra2 codecs /plugin as well.
