Hello all,
Not sure if anyone have the same issue, but my WiFi drains about 7% battery in 30 mins. My connection is stable. It seems that WiFi is scanning about every 5 seconds for new networks.
I'm on Villain 2.0, KG1 modem and KG1 kernel.
should only scan if not connected if you have wi-fi enabled that is!

It should, yet it's still scanning for new networks, even though WiFi is already connected.
Advanced settings when in the wifi settings should have a tick box for notifying you of available networks. Ensure this is disabled!

Hi - I have the same problem. I did not have it when I was on KE8 which was my original FW. I then updated it to KF3 and initially I did not have this problem. Then I observed the batter drain so I checked that this was happening when WiFi is connected. I have unchecked the tick box for notifying the available networks. It did not work. I flashed Cognition ROM v.13 and then v1.15. The problem still persists. Is this a known issue? I am not seeing many entries regarding this problem.
I don't know if this is a known problem or not, but very annoying.

when i have the wifi connection on for a long time and then turn it off... the data connection doesn't restart... this happens also when I lose the mobile network signal.
I have tried off and on the data connection, activate and deactivate the flight mode but nothing, the only solution is to restart the phone.
i have a 5380L phone and a 2.3.6 stock ROM
Please check with the wifi sleep policy. Also check the apn list . Delete unwanted apn lists .

Where can i find the wifi sleep policy settings?

Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings > *hit the menu capacitive button* > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy.
Don't know if that will solve your issue, but that's where it is...
Hope that helps.
nop this doesn' t fix it... now also is happening randomly... i think the reason is a low signal from the mobile network... but does not reconnect, i can call, send sms, but I have no data connection
i rooted the phone with cf-root, i dont know if the kernel have a data control policy, i havent found anything about it
For a moment I thought the problem might be the baseband from the rom i have installed, but i have 3G in occasions

Change basebands or stock rom version. I had that problem once.
Hey guys,
OK Ive got a strange problem with one of my Galaxy S3's!
It will not connect to some WIFI connections! It will say 'Obtaining IP address' then 'Failed to obtain IP address' and then loops itself doing the same thing over and over...?
I have two S3's and my other rooted device is fine. The one that has the problem is running a standard O2 4.3 rom (Un-rooted)
My rooted phone is also running 4.3.
Anyone experienced a similar problem? I have had this problem with 4 or 5 WIFI connections now, including my home one which is rather annoying! I have tried the obvious and rebooted my router, which hasn't helped!
Any advice welcomed!

I've had issues with the quality of my internet connection being checked, and then the connection being killed due to "slow internet connection", even on strong Wifi networks. Solution turned out to be to uncheck the automatic network switch in the advanced Wifi settings.

How so, when I have an identical phone sat right next to it with the same version of Android and that phone connects perfectly?
The only difference is one phone is rooted, the other is not (Both running 4.3, just different kernal number and build number)
Well wifi is a function of the kernel .
So far I'm loving this tablet (even without root) but have noticed that I lose internet access if I'm browsing for a long time. I still have full Wi-Fi signal (I'm only a couple of feet from my router) but no internet access until I disable and re-enable Wi-Fi. This has happened several times since getting the tablet last Friday. I have 3 other Android devices including an Xperia Z1 and none of those have a problem. It has happened on two different Wi-Fi networks so it is definitely not a router issue. I have tried disabling and enabling the options under Advanced Wi-Fi such as 'Scanning always available' and 'Wi-Fi optimisation' but none help.
There is a Wi-Fi Check app preloaded on the Z3TC and it shows it is failing on test 4 - Gateway/DNS. All of my other devices remain connected.
Anyone else noticed a similar problem? I know it is early days but would like to know if I should return it before I get too attached to it!

Do you have LTE or Wifi Version? Mine is LTE.

Just the 16GB Wi-Fi only version. I did some tests on my work Wi-Fi (streaming music and browsing) and the connection was stable. I'll try static IP and a few other things and test again at home.
Cheers
Yep, I have the same problem.
Wifi connection is not stable. Sometimes I have to wait for few seconds for it to reconnect.
Mine is 16 gb Wifi version only.
Is this a software issue.? Wondering if I should return it.
Anyone found a solution?

Actually, I haven't the problem again since the first week. I'm thinking it may have been a router issue after all (I'm using a Virgin Media SuperHub 2). I've not had any disconnections issues since.
Have you tried the Wi-Fi Test app?
Hello,
to save battery i set the Wifi Energy Management on "Wifi at Standby -> only while charging". From time to time i noticed that my Wifi didn't connect, but i was in wifi range! Did anyone else notice that issue? Changing to "always on" is a walkaround but i don't want wifi always on for energy saving!
I'm on d802 30b stock and i did a Factory Reset after switching to Lollipop and it seems only to apear on a 5GHz network.
Hi.
I can confirm this. With same settings like you, I have the same behavior on all LP roms (tested all official+ ported). This is one of many reasons why I went back to Cloudy 2.2

when i connect to my 2,4GHz network everything is fine.
You should not be worry about being connect all the time to wifi because wifi takes nothing from battery
But now i also get reconnects of my Wifi regardless of whether i choose 2,4 or 5GHz WLAN
I have an issue with wifi notification, not sure if it's hardware or software (that's how EMUI is).
my previous phone always notify me of available wifi networks when I am not connected to one, my HM20P doesn't do that. I literally have to go into Settings - Wireless & Networks - Wifi ...... to see which wifi network is available to log in.
Also, when I press on Wifi in the Notification area, it just toggled Wifi On or Off, doesn't open up Wifi Settings......is that normal?
International model, bought in canada.
