Has any accessed their micro sd card on their sprint overdrive pro. I've tried many ways but still can't access it. Any apps or work arounds. Thanks in advance for any help received.
Old thread but I'm in the same boat. I've got an Overdrive sitting around and would like to use it as an external drive with a microsd and Android device. Manual only give instructions for Win/Mc/Linux. Thanks

Benn lurking here for a few days trying to soak in all the info I can until I get my G-Tab from the last woot-off in. Let me start out by saying that the community that has grown around this tablet is great. Lots of good info and work being done to push the G-tab to its potential. Thanks to the Devs and everyone else who contributes.
So my question is this ...... After doing some research I plan to install Vegan 5.1 on my G-Tab when it arrives. I will be sharing the tab with my wife who is a photographer. She said the main feature she wants is to be able to use the tablet to proof her photographs with her clients after a photo shoot. Meaning she will be taking the SD card out of the camera and using a USB memory card reader to access the SD card on the G-Tab. Will this be possible to do on the G-Tab? Is there an app or software that would be better for viewing pictures off of an SD card?
From what I've read so far there seems to be a problem with the tablet not recognizing sdcard2 right? or is there a workaround or fix for this?
Please let me know any suggestions you guys have on how she will have to go about viewing the pictures off of an SD card. I am open to installing different ROMS than Vegan if I have too.
Thanks in advance.
I think there may be some more experienced replies than mine, my experience with the g-tab is still new, however an approach that should work would be to use a mini-sd card in a sleeve, in her camera, then take out the mini-sd and pop that into the g-tab slot. Then you can use the file brower/manager app on the g-tab and browse the mini sd; should be able to just tab an image and show.
Thanks for the reply Riccarr. That sounds like an option but dont want to have to buy all new micro cards unless that is the only option. But I will keep that in mind.
Does anyone else know if its a problem reading jpegs off an sd card through the usb port using a usb card reader? Please share your experiences on viewing pics from a card and if there are any problems I should be ready for. Thanks
I've heard that you can run an SD Card reader off the USB port, in VEGAn 5.11 at least. I've not tried it myself, although I can let you know later tonight as I'm about to head out and buy one.
GoPro HD camera takes an SD card, and I want to be able to view my trackday runs on the tablet while at the track. In glorious HD.
First off I would suggest installing VEGAn-TAB 7.0 instead of earlier Beta version. That's mainly because it is working so well for me. I've had no problems loading .jpg files (of photographs) as well as video files on both the external 16gb micro SD Card and 8gb USB Flash Drive. I've also been able to copy files back and forth between the internal and external SD drives. The USB Flash Drive can be used to copy files to the internal SD drive or to simply use as a second drive to play videos or display photograhs (.jpg files). To copy and paste a file from a drive to go to another drive, simply press and hold the file to be copied and a menu is displayed. Select copy. Then go to the drive and folder you want to paste the file. From the copy/paste notification (press the icon displayed at bottom center) select the file or folder to be pasted. The paste process can be displayed via the notifications window (from the icons on the lower left of the window, press the icon furthest to the right). Curiously enough, the safest place to store and view either videos or .jpg files seems to be the USB Flash Drive. The internal and external SD cards work fine as well, but there does seem to be a problem at times with these files simply disappearing. Good luck.

VEGAn 7.0 RC does work well, and it's arguably the prettiest ROM out there. I've only not gone to it due to the lack of hardware acceleration for video decoding, I'm worried it would result in poor HD playback.
Ok, now on to the card reader. I bought a cheap-o USB reader from Office Depot for $12.99. I'm currently streaming "I am Murloc" from a 2GB Kingston SD card.
Note: The card had to be reformatted in FAT32 for it to work. NTFS will supposedly work for VEGAn as well, but I've not tested if my camera can read either. FAT32 should be safe.
Edit: Spoke too soon. It's working fine as long as I don't put it in the camera. Once it's been in the camera, I can't access it anymore. Not sure why...
Edit 2: Er... ok, now it's working again. Apparently there needs to be something in the root folder for it to pick it up, another folder doesn't work? Will have to test more.
Probably a dumb question to most here, but as Ive never used android before and searching google didnt give me a clear answer:
1. Can I store apps/games on the sd card?
2. Does the phone need to be rooted or what not or can I do this out of the box?
3. Will pictures lag greatly if stored on micro sd (loading and capturing)?
Wondering, because im contemplating the 16gb or waiting for 32gb. 16GB will be fine if i can just store everything to the memory card..On my current phone im already using 16GB of available storage for apps/games, so i really need at least 32 or more.
see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692956
so theres no way to save everything to the sd storage?
so whats the point? pictures and music only?
I have a Sero 7 Pro that has a 32GB micro SD card. I would like to take it with me to the deer lease so I can back up all my trail cam pics to the 32GB card. So I got a micro USB to female USB adapter. Plugged a 16GB SD card into a card reader and plugged it into my adapter. The Sero 7 will not see the memory card at all. I have tried all the free usb mount apps and usb mass storage apps on Google play. I even rooted (thanks to this great forum) my tablet last night and it still won’t see the memory card or my Verbatim flash drive (all formatted as FAT32). Is there something I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't been able to mount any external USB drive. The only work-around that I've found is to use Nexus Media Importer from the store. It doesn't mount the drive per se but it does let you copy files back and forth. It's not free, but reasonable (about $4 if memory serves).

Thanks the free version was able to show the pics. So I downloaded the full version and its failing license check.
I'm afraid I can't help there. It worked fine on mine. You might want to uninstall and then re-install. If it still fails, I would contact the developer.

Thanks, it started working after a few hours. Do you know how to change the saved destination folder? Its saving the pics to my internal memory. Only having 5GB left it will not hold all my pics. I want it to save them to my micro sd card.
In the settings there is an option to let you select directories. If you then use the "advanced" tab, you get a file manager that lets you select both the source and destination directories. I don't know if it remembers them from one time to the next, though.
Hello guys,
I'm absolutely furios right now... just bought a new SD card and guess what? Insufficient storage available.... I read like 50 articles, tried many ''solutions'' and nothing helped... I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace 5830i. If anyone can help me I'm even willing to pay. Just want to play games
Firstly, you have to check if the sdcard is fake:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730285
You could buy a 64 GB card and have the same message. The message is about the internal storage, not the SD card storage. Most apps and app data do not automatically save to the SD card (for a variety of reasons). This is not an issue with the phone (other than the fact that it's a budget phone and all the downsides that entails), as it's only made to do so much. If you are rooted, there are some options, possibly, such as Links2SD, swapping the mounting points to switch the internal and external storages, or something like one of the CronMod solutions. If you aren't rooted or don't want to, then your options are severely limited to basically moving some of the apps to SD, if supported, but it's not a great solution as it does not move much of the data over and doesn't support all apps, meaning don't put keyboards, live wallpapers, home launchers, or widgets on the SD card.
Hi, i had the same problem with the same phone and as es0tericcha0s say root is the solution, then you can do what you want you will see. if you have question you can ask me.
Spent the past few hours searching without any answers, so I figured I'd post here.
Let me start by clarifying that I know nothing about moving apps to the SD card because I've never needed to use it before. However, now I have a class 10 64GB microSDXC card and a Moga controller, and the dinky internal storage just isn't big enough for these games that take up 2-4GB (EACH!).
But I digress...anyway, I've tried following the general method of using AParted to split the SD Card into 2 partitions (1 for media as exFAT, 1 for the app data [tried ext3 and ext4]), then use link2sd to move the apps. Although it worked in general concept, only the main app files were moved, leaving the additional library files on the internal and defeating the purpose. I should note that I did purchase the premium version, which unlocks moving internal files, but that still did not move the additional content that's downloaded outside of the small app and supporting lib files. I also tried using a few App2SD apps, but the result is always the same, telling me the program won't work due to the geniuses programming the phone to call the internal storage "sdcard" (seriously, why would anyone do something that retarded?).
So needless to say, I'm at a little bit of a loss of what to do. I don't want to keep reformatting my card into different configurations to the point of affecting its storage integrity. Are there any current KitKat ROMs that have the partition names altered by default? Am I doing something wrong with my method or missing a step? I'd really like to figure this out.
Thanks for reading and your help!
Bump. Tried to do the partition using AParted again, but no luck...

Kit Kat prevents apps from writing to sdcard which is probly why game data remains on the phone. Try this app, it should help.
