Vote for that issue! I would use Cyanogenmod, but I can't hear a damn thing!
Pointless.
I can hear just fine, and you're obviously not using the DSPManager.

DSP Manager doesn't affect the phone speaker volume, only the headset (headphones), external speaker, and bluetooth.
Cyanogenmod has a horrible issue with volume, so don't try to tell me that it's right.
I can only hear in a quiet room on Cyanogenmod.
Now I think your post was pointless, sir.
I also have no problems hearing calls using cm7. The volume is a little low, but its crystal clear. No problems talking on the phone at work (noisy) or in my car on the freeway. I thinking raising the max incall volume would be nice, but not necessary to be able to use cm by any means.
Edit: one thing I noticed that is too low is when I call someone its hard to hear the ringing. But once they answer all is well.
Sent from my cm7 Aria.
It seems a little low at times for me...but not unusable.

Hey guys I'm using CM7 7/17 update and I'd like to know if there's any work arounds or fixes for low in-call volume? Or for that matter if anyone else is having an issue with low incall volume?

What end of the volume are you referring to? People that cannot hear you or you cannot hear them.
I know that in the Voodoo Sound setting if you have the "Hi-Fi record" setting ticked people will have a hard time hearing you.
Best of luck.
I'm having trouble hearing people, as far as I know they can hear me easily

Fair enough. I do believe this is a known issue in the kernel of CM7 (or moreover any AOSP ROM for our phone) right now.
I personally do not have a problem hearing people but that just may be due to my hearing I don't know.
I do know that Glitch is beta testing the next version of his kernel with a "volume stuff".

pm glitch and ask for beta access, tell him why you're a good candidate. only fixes are screen UV, volume stuff, some performance things etc., nothing major.

While I didn't see it specifically stated that it is the sound problem you are referring to many in the thread have hope that this is in fact what he is referring to.
You can try to PM him and tell him why you would be a good candidate for beta testing if you want to give it a shot.
I can confirm that I also have low volume. I think I read somewhere that it was a flaw with the kernel source that is currently available for our devices.
I've searched for this problem, found some stuff that is close but I haven't been able to find it exactly.
Speakerphone and built-in microphone work fine.
But when I use my headset (Bose MIE2), the microphone fades in and out when I am on a call. People say it will sound fine and then start to sound "tinny" or like I'm "in a can". Seems like this happens when I stop talking and they speak and the background noise becomes louder to the caller. And it doesn't last. It fades in and out, several times on a call.
This headset worked fine on stock AT&T Gingerbread.
About two months ago, I decided to root my phone for the first time and install a modded ROM. So I flashed CM7. Headphone mic worked fine on CM7.
Bose microphone was also working fine on CM9 - one of the early release candidates.
At that point, flashing became easy so I started on the nightlies (I'm sounding like an addict, aren't I? I feel like one!!!).
Then I found my dream flasher/pusher, Task! I've been on AOKP ROM (currently up to date on the 5.1.2012 release) ever since. Awesome ROM, if you haven't tried it.
Still having the headphone mic issue though.
I've wiped fully several times (yes, I read every post in your thread, Task), trying to clear this up.
I also wondered if the headphones where jacked so I returned them to Bose and the new pair is presenting the same issue.
I have read all about the built-in mic swapping issues with the different kernels.
I've tried NEAK and Siyah and I'm careful to be sure I have the mic swapping versions for AOKP/CM. My phone does not like NEAK at all. Loves Siyah - getting fantastic battery life (14 hours today, 27% screen time and WiFi on all day with 20% battery remaining) and responsive. I'm currently on the latest Siyah ICS [v3.2rc1] with UC 200 to 1000, lulz/vr only. It is also awesome, thanks, Ktoonsez!
I'm wondering if that mic swapping on the phone has anything to do with the mic on the headset.
Also, is there anything else I can check to help troubleshoot this in more detail?
Finally, are there any controls for headphone mics or even microphone settings in ROM Control or anywhere else that can be adjusted?
Thanks for your help in advance!
The NEAK kernel only has one choice for Tasks rom, no need to pick between mic swap.

I'm wishing it was that simple. On NEAK, I've tried the AOSP - still have the issue. My phone freezes too often on that kernel.
On Siyah, I get the mic swap version for AOKP/CM - still having the issue.
The latest Siyah runs like a beast and gets fantastic battery, just has the fading issue.

Hello, I have just installed BiParanoid ROM, and everything works fine, but the phone call sound level is extremely high, so I can't talk privately - everybody around me hears who I'm talking with. The decreasing volume on slider doesn't work.
Looking for your help, I can't post in ROM threat because I haven't got enough posts...

Frankly it's poor, call is fine, but the media I get distortion and crackling, I've heard others talk about it, but no one had mentioned a fix. Is anyone aware of a resolution, it's quite aggravating. There was a file I could edit on my captivate back in the day that upped the transmission rate that took care of it. Is there something similar that could be done here?

That's Interesting. I don't have any problems with the bluetooth audio streaming quality. Sure, nothing beats an aux cable quality wise, but it's always sounded pretty good to my ears. I consider myself a little bit of an audiophile too.
I notice it mostly in my car, but I also bought backbeat go ear buds today, and it really just didn't sound right, it's not in your face like holy cow why does his voice sound like that, it's more like crackling in the highs, I don't get it through aux though, I would have thought it was my phone, but I had seen it mentioned a couple other places

alpine type-r interiors and sub, alpine bt head unit, everything is powered by alpine v-power amps, and I gotta say, I hear the distortion pretty clearly over bt. My old inspsire 4G running cm7 sounded AMAZING over bt. I hope someone finds away to bump up the clarity some. devs? Lol
So I think it's safe to say, you like alpine ha ha, but seriously though, thanks for the +1, didn't want people to think I was just crazy or something.

You guys have tried this fix as stated in the General HOX+ Q&A?
Or it is a different issue?
IIRC that was the first mod I flashed for this phone, and while it helped 10 fold with the call quality, it did little to nothing for media and other audio.
i got the answer you're looking for...
i noticed this problem the first time i used my hox+ with my car stereo. same problem...bt calls are ok, but if you are listen to music, you hear ugly distortion in the highs...the sound isn't clear and the stereo image is bad.
after doing some research i found out that it has to do with the bluetooth bitpool settings. but what can you do against it: maxween did a bluetooth fix for me, which worked perfectly. it is implemented in the newest builds of his AOKP roms, and in the newest versions of Liors cm 10.1 roms.
so you can use this fix in every aosp rom.
unfortunently, there isn't a fix for stock-, and sense rom's jet. i've made a demand to mike1986 if he can implent it in his android revolution hd 6.5 rom, but it's not done atm.
so if you want to listen to some fine bt music quality (it sounds awesome in my stereo now btw.), you have to install the actual aokp or cm 10.1 rom...otherwise you have to wait for a sense fix.
ps: we've connected the brandnew htc on from my friend in my car stereo. same issue! looks like htc is doing this intentionally to sell more of the aptx care stereo adapters and beats accessoiries with the aptx codec...
I also have this problem. It annoys the hell out of me because I can ALWAYS hear it. Maybe i'm too sensitive. I don't know. Either way, I'm going to see if the Elegancia ROM can get the fix implemented.
Thanks for letting us know there is a fix.
The only way i have found to lessen the distortion is turn the media volume on the phone down to at least 3/4 and use the vehicle/Home stereo receiver to control the volume increase needed. It helps a lot, but a true fix is really needed
Indeed, and check to see if your receiver or head unit has a secondary volume control for each input. My alpine for instance, allows me to tweak the volumes for each specific input (AUX, HD radio, Bluethooth, CD) from a rang of -5db to +5. IF i set it anything above 0 it sounds like crap. Hope this helps some.
if the connection's fine, you should not have to turn down the volume. the sound quality is even better when the bt output vol is on max on your phone. on the other devices, i would recommend an input of 0db, if you are going above it, you have the risk of digital distortion, and this is sounding really ugly.
i'll post a link from maxween later so if any developer of a sense custom rom could do a fix would it be awesome
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39632#c151
here is a thread about this issue, i also found a german page from a guy which used this fix for his htc one and it worked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880298http://
i tried it out on my one x+ but unforunently it didn't work...so if some developer could make this "audio.a2dp.default.so" fix working on the hox+ (sense rom's) it would be awesome...
Thanks for all your research and time mr_breaks. I am hoping we can get a fix for this issue.
Using an aux audio cable is not a big deal but listening through BT is so much easier and allows me to control my music from my car controls. I like that functionality.
same here. i don't like to plug in the cable everytime and the control over my car is much confortable and safer.
btw: with the patch the bt sound is better than with cable
imo... of course it depends on the car unit, but i had very good results with my system and my hox+...

So did you fix it or not? I thought you said you tried fixing the bitrate settings but it didn't work.
If I can change the settings myself, i'd like to try it if you could guide me.
not yet. there is no way to change the bitpool manually, it has to be done in the file called "audio.a2dp.default.so".
i'm waiting for support form the developers, cause i don't have the know-how to do a fix by myself. ..."i would, if i could"

Hi, most of you should know me because Hybrid Bootstacks. But today, I'm here to talk about something new. (or not so new.)
Some people are getting Low audio output when on CM-12.1+ or any other aosp based. (I'm getting too.)
The problem here, is that not everybody has this issue, so, I need to you guys answer this poll with your G2 variant.
But only if you are facing this audio bug!
Attention, it is only about output volume, don't answer the poll if you have only the low mic issue. (Just reply the topic, with infos.)
Thanks,
Daniel Stuart

Yeah, seems that it is a d802 only problem. I'll wait a little more until start to work on it.
Can you just answer one thing for me? Your microphone is low too? (cm13.0, cm12.1 has a mic bug.)
Just increasing values in mixer_paths did raise the volume. Problem was that it started to distort sound on the highest volume step. The solution was to flash viper4android, it made it possible to use a high value and not get sound distortion. D802
Sure, no problem... My girlfriend has been complaining that she doesn't hear me loud enough since I flashed 12.1, will have to test it on my own though by switching phones with her and will let you know... Editing the mixer_paths is not the solution because of the distortion, as stated above, and also the volume isn't quite linear in the final 3 steps, it's like it is jumping over two steps... Or we can't find the correct setup for the file... It can't be that we need to change just one (or three) value(s)...
d800 5.1.1 while recording at times when sound was loud it would sound very low at that part when record was played.. also using whats app audio messages it will start high for a second then very low, but only my messages that i sent recorded with g2 phone, the other end or friend could hear me out clear and loud just normal. and i could hear they messages loud just normal. only thing was my messages recorded with g2.

I have an LG G2 D801. I flashed crDroid 6.0.0 a few day ago. Speaker volume is very low. I have no idea how to increase the volume!! Tried Viper4Android but I don't even notice a difference.
When I call someone, they can hardly hear me.
Does anyone know how I might increase the speaker volume for my phone? Any good advice will be appreciated.
I remember a time when people were helpful on XDA. They would share knowledge, help others who know less. Unfortunately, those days are long gone.
I have referred many friends and acquaintances to XDA Developers, telling them there are many very experienced guys - and girls - who are happy to help you... It gives many of them the experience they need.
But a number of these people would tell me that the people on XDA are, basically, jerks! Rather than complain along with others, I hope to get through to at least one of you.
XDA began as a site where anyone with a specific handheld device could ask any question in order to get help...with any problem they would encounter. It grew and added other devices. Now XDA has become the most reputable go-to site for help with any kind of phone. If anyone knows anything about phones they know XDA Developers.
Guys, this should not be a place to show-of, or to be rude or intimidating. Often, there are people with questions, or need help, advice...and they don't know anything. These are the people who need help the most. Your help. Please treat people the way YOU would want to be treated when YOU did not know anything at all. That is all I ask.
Thank you.
I have d802 and i had to change mixer_paths to hear voice navigation commands during driving my car. The speaker audio is low and changing paths was the solution. It is true that there is a little distortion but when you set CM built in Audio mixer properly then no issues.
@CiscoKydd
If you are using the CM then you could edit the mixer_paths to raise the speaker volume output (have no idea about mic) or you could install cutom CAF kernel for d801 and then change the speaker and mic gain via Kernel Auditor.
I have no knowledge about the d801 kernels because I personally have the d802 version.
Thank you, @sunekosuri. I increased volume by editing mixer_paths. Volume increased to the point of distortion.
As for the mic... Well, that goes on my To Do list.
Thanks again, Sunekosuri.
Now I used to live with this very low sound. Camera and sound are the only issues I think of going back to stock.
hey, i was facing the same problem using last nitly from cyanogem mod 13 on my lg g2 d802 32gb. the only way that seems to boost around 50% the sound ouput was with this app.
hope it help you guys too.
