[Q] Touchscreen without Function - Folio 100 General

Hello,
a friend of mine flashed the Folio with Foliomod 1.3 from Dexter.
After this , he could´nt use the touchscreen.
I hope, someone can help us with the problem.
Thanks in advance
janemann77

Is there noboby who can help?
We tried to flash the StockRom and also Honeycomb, but we can´t use the touchscreen.
Before we flashed the Tab, the touchscreen works.
I hope someboby has an idea.
Thanks a lot
janemann77

Try to flash original kernel(download stock rom from FolioMod 1.4 threde and flash it)

Thanks for your help.
I flashed the Original Kernel, but nothing changed.
I hope there is another idea.
Thanks a lot
janemann77

Go to fastboot mode and type this:
1. fastboot erase userdata
2. fastboot erase system
3. Choose a rom that you want to install and extract it anywhere from computer
4. fastboot flash(recovery, i'm not sure, visit mblaster threde for fastboot linux binary and check commands) linux /path to boot.img
5. fastboot flash(recovery, i'm not sure, visit mblaster threde for fastboot linux binary and check commands) system /path to system.img
6. fastboot reboot
Sent from my Folio3x using Tapatalk

I will try it, but where can I find the "mblaster threde"?
Sorry for my newbie questions.

In General. If you can't find it, go to development section and find any mblaster threde(it's easier to find) and find his signature(at bottom of page). Go to [HOWTO]Fastboot for linux... or something like that.
Good luck!

Nice guide. But I think it would be much more conveniant to just fastboot flash the stuff:
1) Make sure ADB is working
2) Unpack the latest foliomod update.zip and locate the boot.img/recovery.img/system.img files
3) Get the latest version of fastboot from the android sdk
4) Boot folio into fastboot (switch on, after vibration press 3x power and then volume up) and connect to pc via usb
5) go to the directory where the fastboot executable lives and type:
-fastboot flash linux c:\path\to\my\foliomod\boot.img
-fastboot flash recovery c:\path\to\my\foliomod\recovery.img
-fastboot flash system c:\path\to\my\foliomod\sytem.img -w
-fastboot reboot (or just power off and on again)
-done
I would recommend to set up fastboot to anyone, as the recoveries for folio all are not 100% working (clockwork) or incompatible (ever tried to flash foliomod with clockwork) or just locked up (newest stock recovery).
Fastboot is no more complicated to set up than adb is, and it is really useful.
hi mblaster
TnX for additional instructions. The reason why I don't describe a guide using fastboot is that on folio the "3x power-press" is VERY DANGEROUS, doing that make very easy brick your folio.
Dexter wrote some post about that, so it's correct advise users to follow these instructions at own risk.

There is a way to dump the firmware before flashing? Maybe using fastboot?

fastboot for mac and linux

Hi all, I did a fastboot-mac that recognize our folio when in fastboot mode.
Just to recall what fastboot mode is: fastboot is an android state useful to flash and/or wipe images/partitions.
All version I tried didn't worked and then I compiled my own starting from the latest android sources.
This version works! Maybe some mac user like me could find it useful.
fastboot-mac.gz
And this is the linux version:
fastboot-linux.gz
Now why would we want to use Mac.... anything
Thanks

for me the same... here what I found :
3) Get the latest version of fastboot from the android sdk
4) Boot folio into fastboot (switch on, after toshiba press 3x power and then volume up) and connect to pc via usb
5) go to the directory where the fastboot executable lives and type your command
I have a lot of problems to access my folio under windows. Because I use both mac and linux, for me is more handy to access the fastboot mode via those OSes.
In my understanding the fastboot ditributed with the android sdk does not include the latest code to handle the tegra2 platform; then this is the reason why I recompiled it for both mac and linux starting from the latest git sources.
There is another reason why is worth to use mac or linux : no drivers are needed to access the fastboot mode!
Btw, if your windows setup works, of course you don't need to use neither mac nor linux version.
Just to recap: the fastboot mode give you the ability to erase and write any partition on an android device. Is really easy to do it:
"fastboot devices" will list all android devices attached via usb in fasboot mode
"fastboot erase recovery" will erase the recovery partition
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" will flash a new recovery.img in few seconds
I like fastboot mode because is more effective flashing a new distro and for my setup is useful because I do dual boot with ubuntu, replacing the recovery partition with the linux boot image.
I forgot to mention "fastboot -w" to wipe data partition and restore factory default

I Have a folio which is working on the normal android system, but when I tread to install foliomod a few months ago my folio got ****ed.!
i cannot enter recovery mode. This is the reason why i have to use fastboot right?
I'm on a mac and what are the precise instructions on making fastboot work? and what should i do to get my recovery working again?!
This is a part i do not get
'' go to the directory where the fastboot executable lives and type your command'' Directory??
When i run the mac file you provided i simple says : command not found, (while my folio is connected in fastbood mode!)
Please help me out! Thanks alot!
hi, first of all, you must install the android sdk.
go to: sdk and download android-sdk_r15-macosx.zip
then, decompress the zip file and move the created folder to the root of your boot harddisk.
well, now you have to download the basic tools: navigate to /android-sdk-mac_x86/tools and double click android. this will open the android manager
install at least Android SDK tools and Android SDK platform-tools (remove any other predefined download)
now decompress the fastboot-mac executable (from my first post) and move it to /android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools
ok; now open a terminal and type: "cd /android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools"
then try to type: "./fastboot-mac devices" it should show the list of currently attached devices in fastboot mode. often the device is displayed as "????????" it is ok.
if the last command doesn't work, maybe you need to give it execution permission with this command: "chmod +x fastboot-mac" and retry
try and let me know
once you get your device in fastboot mode, look for a recovery.img and do as follow:
./fastboot-mac erase recovery
./fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery.img
then reboot in recovery mode and install what you want.
I suggest you to download the cwm betelgeuse recovery (cwm=clockworkmod).
Roglio! Thanks in advance,
I'm going to try it out tonight after I finish work!
A quick question:
I haven't got my folio with me but when i try to do this:
ok; now open a terminal and type: "cd /android-sdk-mac_x86/platform-tools"
I get:
MacBook-Pro-van-Willem-Jan-van-Dun:~ willem-janvandun$ /android-sdk-macosx
-bash: /android-sdk-macosx: is a directory
MacBook-Pro-van-Willem-Jan-van-Dun:~ willem-janvandun$ cd/android-sdk-macosx
-bash: cd/android-sdk-macosx: No such file or directory
MacBook-Pro-van-Willem-Jan-van-Dun:~ willem-janvandun$ cd /android-sdk-macosx
Al different commands as you can see. Which is the good one?
Thanks!
Roglio you are an hero!
You made my day!
Great job and keep up the good work! my little nephew will be so glad his tablet is working again!
Thanks!
You're welcome
Glad of being been helpful!
One more question!
I installed foliomod and everything is working great! But how can i backup this complete rom? do i use Rom Manager? and whch clockworkmod should i install then?
THanks!!
Via fastboot you should already installed cwm. If not i suggest v0.3 based on cw 3028.
This recovery already has a backup functionality to save the whole system (data included) to an sd card.

[GUIDE]How to get past boot screen freezing!

Hello! Sorry for posting this here, Idk if this is the right area for this kind of thing but anyways lets get started!!
Im sorry if this had already been posted, I have searched the forums before to see If someone had found a solution while I was having the error!
Sorry for this, but I posted this already here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370478 So moderators will you please delete the above post! Thanks so much!
This has happened to me so many times, I got frustrated, then I tried this out of the blue and it seemed to work..
Some examples of ROMS that froze on boot on my HTC EVO 3D HBOOT 1.5
All Infected ROMS
MIUI
Synergy
Senseless ROM
CleanRom
and some others..
These are the steps I took to fix the issue!
1. Flash ROM and see if it freezes on boot, if it does start below
2. After flashing rom and confirming that it does freeze.. Boot into bootloader (Power+volume down key) and press the power button while highlighted over fastboot.
3. Plug in your device into PC or MAC
4. Make sure you have the latest android SDK, im pretty sure you do if you have been flashing roms!
5. EXTRACT the .zip file of the ROM that you are using that freezes.
6. Open the folder and copy the boot.img from that ROM
7. Paste that .img into the folder that has your adb and fastboot files for the Android SDK!
8. in terminal navigate to that folder, and do the following commands
PC:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on the PC and most of the time I have issues.. like failing of transferring over of the boot.img.. So far I don't know a way around this besides to keep trying!!
MAC:
Code:
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on my mac as well, and so far I have had no errors! It works everytime.
9. After that reboot your phone..
10. Watch in awe as your phone should reboot and not freeze!

Your problem lies in your HBOOT 1.5.... you need to flash the kernel separately, either the way you described it, or I think theres an app called FlashGUI
or just access recovery from fastboot & flash like normal.
This should be moved

This.
Maybe OP doesn't know about it so I'll guide him.
OP, we appreciate you trying to help but if you follow the steps below you should have no problem.
1. Download the Rom you want and place it on your sd card.
2. Plug your phone in to your computer and open a cmd file where 'adb' is located and type "adb reboot bootloader".
3. Your phone will now restart and boot into bootloader. Now type in "fastboot boot recovery.img". Your phone will now boot into your recovery.
(At this point, you can unplug your phone.)
4. Use the recovery as how you normally would and wipe/flash, etc.
Enjoy.

Yes I do this, and I still have to do what I provided up above. Idk what is wrong with my phone.
Your recovery can't flash kernels. Hence the boot loop.
There is a program in the evo3d theme and apps forum for us 1.5 boot loader users to flash the kernel using an app in android then you reboot to recovery and flash rom.
The app is called flash image GUI

this worked for me it was hanging at the htc white logo screen did this steps and the phone passed the first boot logo and it turned on fine!!!
That's due to not flashin a kernel right or you skipped a part of the wipe.
Virus has this guide for flashing the kernel on his page
The problem with using this "Flash Image GUI" is the FACT that if an individual can't boot a ROM, they obviously can't run the apk.
Individuals with HBOOT 1.5 have two choices in this situation (bootloop)...
Either
1. "adb reboot bootloader" after which you run "fastboot boot recovery.img" (recovery.img must be placed in fastboot directory), then you flash the ROM/kernel in question...
Or
2. Flash boot.img through fastboot (which is what the above "should" do in the fist place).
BTW: If you always have a problem with bootloops, you aren't loading recovery the way you should...
You can either run the commands mentioned earlier in this post, or go to
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.pho?t=1403148
and download the batch in the second post "jthein1989_batch.zip" (you will still need to download and copy the recovery.img to the folder).
Just download twrp or clockwork and copy it as "recovery.img" to the directory that you unzipped the batch to... Then, just follow the OP of my thread...

But you mean you can't select Recorery from Hboot menu? Even if you installed twrp? I don't know much of what I'm doing only had 3d for week. but its locks up at white HTC screen all the time.
Or you could try...

With HBOOT 1.5 you "can" start recovery without ABD, but "S-ON" will not allow you to properly flash to the BOOT partition (limitation of the HTC unlock method). Therefore, users with HBOOT 1.5 need to go to extra lengths to flash the BOOT partition.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Having HBOOT 1.5, I've ran into this very problem. I'm not sure if it's hardware or what, but my phone will not run any Sense 3.5 ROM's I've tried. The phone just won't boot! I gave up trying 3.5 ROM's. I used ABD to put a 3.0 kernel back on and restore the recovery and everything is fine again. This will probably be my last HTC phone. Hoping something better besides the S2 is coming soon.

[Q] [SOLVED] Broke the menu button - can't enter fastboot mode

hi guys!
I had the worst luck ever, my menu button broke! Now i can't enter fastboot mode in order to flash a new kernel (boot.img)
Is there a way to flash it, maybe using flash tool without fastboot mode? Since the kernel is not a tft file, but a img (found in the ROM`s zip file), I cannot just drop into flash tool. A workaround would be great.
I appreciate any help on this, i'm very sad with so many great roms and I can't taste any of them =/

How can I unpack or flash this ROM?

I'm using an Empire ElectroniX D709 tablet, running Android 4.0.4. It's an old low-spec device, and I'm planning to use this device to improve my Android hacking skills.
I've asked the manufacturers to send me the stock ROM, which they did. Pretty cool!
The problem is that there's no flashing tool or instructions included, and the staff I spoke with did not know how to flash it either.
So now I'm on my own, with a big image file I don't know how to flash.
I tried to start a development thread at the Miscelleaneous Android Development section, but because I have almost no posts, I can't post there. So maybe this is a good place to ask. How can I flash or unpack this image?
You can find the ROM here: http://www.needrom.com/download/empire-electronics-d709/

You have to manually flash them using fastboot. Look up how to get fastboot and move the image(s) to the folder were fastboot.exe is located. Boot into your bootloader either via adb reboot bootloader or by physically doing it from the device. Now here is where most people fail. At the end of the file name, before the .img, it should be either boot, fastboot, recovery or system. If it is system, then do fastboot flash system nameofthesystemimg.img and if it is boot, you get the idea.
Thank you. Fastboot is a good idea. Problem is that I don't know which partition this .img file belongs to. I have the feeling that this file contains every partition, yet I'm not sure how to split it up so that I can flash each partition.

Will you mind sharing the whole file name? If it is an all partition img you can do fastboot flash all (I think). Just type fastboot and see the all option in the help menu.

The full file name is D709_n.img. Theres an option fastboot flashall indeed.
Right now, I'm trying to get the device into fastboot, without success. Things I've tried until now:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
adb reboot bootloader
adb reboot fastboot
Every time, the device restarts and just enters the normal mode. I can get into stock recovery, but there's no option to restart to bootloader there.

Hmmm, if you type adb devices, do you see your device there? If not, search online for drivers. If that does not work, google your device and how to get it to fastboot.

Yes, it's fully recognized, and I can adb in it just fine. I also get an adb prompt in recovery mode that lets me control the device. The only problem right now is getting this thing to fastboot.

After googling its model number (crane-evb), I found out that this device can be flashed using LiveSuite (described here). It's nice to see the device back in its factory condition. Now I need to find a way to extract the partitions.

YaY! I was going to say that in stock recovery there is this option called update via adb or something but now that it is working, there is no need for that.
