I'm running comrom 2.1 with otb 1.6 and I have the ED03 radio. I was considering upgrading to one of the new gingerbread roms (CM7, OMFGB, ComRom GB, or MIUI).
Do you have to upgrade to EC09 radio to use any of those roms?
I've been reading about people having problems with their sd cards with EC09 radio so I was wondering if you can use those roms with an older radio to avoid that possible problem.

Technically no you don't need to upgrade your radio to ec09 to use AOSP gingerbread roms like CM7 or MIUI (it's highly recommended though, just install through odin), however the actual ec09 gingerbread leak has its own radio obviously. SD card frying problems are exclusive to the stock ec09 gingerbread leak (and associated roms like UGB), not the radio.

I decided to go back to official stock rom...or something close; like debloated version of the official rom
Even though I greatly appreciate the works of all the XDA developers, battery life was not stable for my daily needs; the best I got was maximum of 6 hours with SC2.9.2 + jt's EC10 kernel + EA28 radio.
So which is the most official ROM update from Verizon? such as DI01 or DI09...and DJ05? or which stock or debloated stock is the best possible? eclair only.
and would custom kernels drain battery if I have stock rom running? I want to keep EC10 kernel if possible.
The most recent official ROM is EA28, and that was preceded by DL09
Since this is a Q and I didn't want to clog the newly started Andmer thread I'd ask here.
I am currently on NAMLESS v4.1 and with all the SD card problems I plan on taking the plunge to MIUI until the bug is fixed. What I want to know is how I would go about getting to MIUI. Since EC09 Leak had its own kernel and modem and recovery(provided by navenedrob), would I just have to Flash [ROM] AOSP MIUI FascinateMTD 1.6.24 > Flash [KERNEL][06.20.11][cm7 or miui] OTB (fascinatemtd) > Reboot. Which would get me the ROM, working Kernel, and keep my EC09 radio.
Just wanted to make sure before ruinning things.
Thanks for any help.
EDIT:
I guess my impatience got the best of me. From NAMELESS v4.1 I odined back to stock DL09 > odined latest recovery > flashed latest MIUI and instead of pulling the battery after the first countdown (when it waits for sdcard to mount) I just let it sit and after a few minutes later it finally mounted and finished the install. Hope this helps anyone else who is running into any problems.
i would like to do this too.. i love nameless.. but i need my video player.. plus super mario rpg is very laggy
and i dont think the radio will work with miui.. prolly have to odin back.. to dl09 n go from there
I just went back to ComRom from EC09. Odin Froyo EB01 and then rebuid what you want from there.
Im thinking about switching to the GingerLOL 1.5 Rom which does mean Ill have to flash the V20G/E basebands, but out of curiousity, flashing those basebands....What were to happen if I decided that I wanted to go back to Froyo still roms ie...OpenOptimus,Megatron V1, or Devoid Froyo). I had to much instability in Mik_os's CM7 rom, Im not sure if it's that actual rom or If Im just another noob (not quite, but no advanced user yet), so which is the most stable rom available ?
I am still somewhat new to the Thunderbolt root, rom world. I now know current roms are radio specific and would like to know if the same goes for kernels? I am currently running LTS v1.7 and see kernels for Froyo based roms but does this mean all mr versions?
No, only froyo or gingerbread and sense or aosp
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
No, kernels are not radio specific.
There are two groups for kernels:
Froyo and Gingerbread
For each of those groups, there are two sub groups:
Sense based ROMs, and AOSP based ROMs
So if your running a froyo sense ROM, you'll need a froyo sense kernel.
Hope that helps.
That is mostly true. The newest base for builds of gingerbread don't play well with the current selection of custom kernels. You'll get goofy stuff like quirky WiFi or an upside down camera. Read the OP. The dev will usually tell you what kernel will work with what.
I was on one of the ICS builds, too many FC's for me so i nandroided back to my previous GB rom
But looking at settings/about phone, i have the UCLD3 modem still
eh...does this cause problems? I had earpiece problems but thought it was maybe the reception
will UCLD3 work with GB? or should i flash the latest GB radio?
Help?
your lookin to brick your phone arent u
I think I have used almost all the ICS radios... I have been trying to fix my S Voice problem. I haven't bricked my phone yet, but I can tell you the ICS Telus one forced me to reload the ROM so I could make calls again.
