I just installed Android Illuminate this evening and I am having problems installing the Google+ app from the market. It says that it does not exist for my device. Now, I did find a themed version from elsewhere on XDA that installed fine, however, I cannot share from it. It force closes the app when I try to do so.
Upon further reading, it appears that Google+ is supposed to fail automatically if you do not have GPS, whether the tablet has the capability or not. People have had success with My Fake Location, however, whenever I run that app, it just force closes for me as well.
So, has anyone had any success with using Google+ & My Fake Location with the latest version of Android Illuminate? If so, what did you do to get this to work?
Thanks!

After getting the last update on both applications (autoself background for market seems to disable FastWeb installations, and last Appbrain update comes with FastWeb integrated) installing trough the web doesn´t work anymore as always. Also doesn´t work when pressing "perform installs" from the phone application. I´ve tried enabling and disabling FastWeb option and uninstalling market updates data, but still is not working.
Anyone have a clue ???
I think
I saw this problem in another thread - I believe it's a google/appbrain issue and we just have to suffer. Appbrain answered inquiries recommending getting apps through syncing. Sad.
Yes, but also sincyng or other actions performed from the phone (like direct install) are not working. Last version, updated today claims that you must uninstall any market updates present on your phone in order to work as before, but that seems useless to me, as any time you open the market, the update comes again on the background. I liked the app for the possibility of install apps not available on "my" market ( put region/operator or some other strange filters here) but fully working on my phone when installed from AppBrain.
So, to my taste, right now, AppBrain is useless and going to just R.I.P.
Yes, I gave up on it for now - If I understand it correctly, it might be working on some systems and the developers were working on a workaround. Yes, the sync feature isn't fun as it just takes you to the market to install.
If you can get the apk install files, drop them to dropbox.
Good luck.
Is it possible to get market to update apps that you sideloaded? I know there's an app people have referenced (atrackdog) but was wondering if there are other methods.

I think this will fix missing market links, I haven't used it since my G1 though.
On my phone, the AppBrain app would show apps that were not displayed in the market for update. However, it does not seem to be working on my Nook, but I also haven't synced my AppBrain with my gmail account either, so I don't know if that has something to do with it.
I just installed aTrackDog and so far it will show what needs to be updated, but when I click the app, all of the options in the menu are white, so I can't see it against the background.
Update: Apparently in all the reading I've done so far I did not see that this is a problem with the stock ROM. With a different ROM such as Froyo it will solve the not being able to see the text.
I received my Nook Tablet for Christmas, and of course the first thing I do is root it (using Nook&Zergy). Now that I have access to the market, I ask myself"wheres all the apps?" I assume that it was the Android market filter hiding incompatible apps. So later on I try to side load and get errors. So now I just want to know how to get apps to work? I also blocked OTA's.
[In a nutshell]
What I know:
-Nook runs tweaked Gingerbread
-Honeycomb app I try to install get a parseing error when I try to install(most likely do to api's)
-Market has limited app selection.
What I want to know:
- Is it possible to get Honey comb apps to run(for example adobe touch apps, sketchbook pro hd ect...)
-Why is the android market selection so limited
-What is a parsing error?
- If you have any more advice feel free to share
Thank you!
I'm having same issue
Im having the same problem. Google maps, Evernote, Facebook all do not show up in market. When I use the browser to access the market it says these apps are incompatible. Also words with friends installs and opens but doesn't show properly, the chat window overlaps the game board so you can't see it. Is this a dpi issue? I've seen other posts that maybe dpi needs to be changed to 160. If so, How is this done?

Gingerbread can't run honeycomb apps. I have evernote and some other apps I have found through other sites, however i have not got facebook to run yet.
The apps are limited because of the fingerprint of the device, but people have spoofed the build.prop file to gain access to more of the market. See other threads.
I have facebook and twitter running on my rooted nook right now. I took the apks from my phone backups and put them in dropbox, downloaded and installed. (That was actually before I rooted) but they are working fine and the widgets work on the homescreens. I did that with all of the apps I wanted from my phone.
If this helps, I created a tutorial on how to download apps not showing up in the Marketplace.

If you can share the apk for facebook, it would be greatly appreciated.

I like the Steam Friends app more then the official Steam app because it gives notifications whenever a game on my wishlist goes on sale. It's an overall very nice app, but from time to time it force closes on me.
You can imagine I was delighted to see that there was an update (this was stated in the app itself, it was not an update notification from the Market itself). When I clicked it it took me to the market without any problems. I clicked to install the update but the Market stated "the downloading of 'Steam Friends' is rejected because this app is removed from Android Market".
Does anyone know if this is temporary or permanent, and where I can get the new 2.9 version?
Steam Friends - Android Market
A majority of my apps installed no problem. But i have a few apps that will not let me login. For example, xda app won't allow me to login on the phone. Snapchat will also not let me login. Keeps saying login failed, and sends me to a link for trouble shooting. I'm rooted, but on stock rom. Also tried installing the deodexed rom with the same results. Can anyone point me in right direction as to why it worked on my note 4 yesterday, but when i jumped to new phone it quit working?
Never mind, see the article posted about it being Snapchat not allowing users with supersu installed. And the xda application, i didn't use a backup and clean install and it quit force closing when trying to login. This can be closed
