I picked up this at Wal-Mart, it's a solar powered charger with a battery.

They have a few other that are more powerful also.

Recieved mine today. I'm in the process of reviewing its performance right now. I'll post tomorrow my results since I don't think its possible to drain it by tonight. I am leaving screen brightness %100, no dim or screen lock, 4g constantly on, live wall paper, and doing whatever else I can to REALLY put it to the test. None of this standby 15 min of internet 2 phone calls stuff. Battery monitor shows 650+ positive mA with all this going on if that means anything. Still learning.
First impression is its well made. It's definitely not a shoddy slap together item. Thought went behind design and usability. We shall see about performance. The case is attractive. Hard plastic, not flimsy at all. It's about an inch wider then EVO and 2inches smaller then its length. Perfectly square. Thickness is 2 EVO's stacked. It is alittle heavy. Someone said it was 10oz. So overall its way small for the juice your getting. Not to heavy. This is a battery after all.
The packaging was nice. A cardboard setup like the EVO where it slides out. Real packaging. Peel off sticker guards to prevent scratches. Come with 2 adapters and a charger. All is included to charge EVO. I'll end here and post performance of this device tomorrow.

Thanks for the review.
Well I've been using it constantly all day today from my first full charge. Been 11 hours and its at 50%. That's with screen brightness 100%, no dim/lock, live wallpaper, 4g constantly on. All that while using my phone for browsing the web, netflix, 3d camera, ect. I've been using my phone constantly as in non stop. So in all reality its not possible to use this up in one day of constant HEAVY usage. I have to fully recommend this product. Obviously I don't know about longevity but from what I've experienced so far I'm guessing it will last a long time. If you have any specific question ill do my best to help.

That sounds pretty nice! Thanks for the link.
If this research actually finds its way into the mainstream market in a few years like they claim, I would be really surprised. It would be sick though to have 10,000 mah batteries in the same size as our 1500 mah deals right now.
Impressive. I'm gonna start poking holes in my battery. Haha Jk

Tell us how that goes lol.
I read this on CNET. I wonder what the price differential will be? This is a big game changer for mobile devices as well as EV's and people who have battery/generator backups for their home and business.
I didnt even think about EVs. That would be a major game changer.
Imagine you would only need 10% the batteries to provide the same power/time. That significantly reduces the weight, meaning you could add in a few more batteries adding more power, while reducing weight. This leads me to think it is going to be expensive. Someone wants to make their money. Dependability always = more expensive! lol
I'm pretty stoked about the 15 min charge cycle lol.

If it pans out that the technology does work, the only reason I see it taking so long to implement is patenting. But if the moron Obama has his way, the only thing you will need to file a patent is an IDEA not even a working product -_- . Way to help pricing/competition.

I love that stuff...great in a pinch too!
Definitely a good read and thank you for sharing.
As for EV, this will be great for car manufacturers and bad for gas companies.
Think of how powerful we can make electric cars if the batteries can store a ton of power. They could be much faster than gas powered cars because they have full torque at 0 rpm.

And the gas companies "The Powers that be" won't let it happen, unless they get their grimmy hands involved. Hence why prices will be stupid. BP will be producing Batteries and you will hear stories of semi's falling into rivers and electrocuting everyone to death. (Sarcasm) lol
I bought one of these recently, the price on it is ridiculous but if you want a battery that will never die this is it.
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...or-verizon-htc-rezound-with-battery-door.html
It comes with a new back with a kickstand on it which is nice & it still fits in my HTCpedia extended battery case.
I am really hard on battery life as I stream audio all day at work (Iheart radio & Sirius online) & that really burns up battery life.. The VZ extended battery makes it a little over 8 hours usually doing that. The Mugen beast still has over 1/2 the battery life left at that point.
I recently went on a two day business trip & was still on the original charge of the thing when I flew home. I took a spare bateery with me, but never used it.

Would rather put that money toward a phone that doesn't need a battery that large to make it through a day. Oh wait I did do that.

Yea, it's not really much different at all.
I have three VZ extended batteries & when the phone is in my pocket (wearing either jeans or cargo shorts) I really can't tell which is which.
This thing is amazing, it lasts as long as my Son's Razr MAXX.
Speaker holes are small and it muffles the sound. Probably could cut a couple more slits in it. . But I wouldnt pay a hundred bux for a friggin battery
I agree the price is ridiculous (as I stated in my original post) but the back has not affected the sound on mine at all. It's not like the original speaker is all that powerful anyway.
I was pissed originally at the price for sure, but it's turning out to be one of the best investments I have made for this phone.
I literally never have to even glance at my battery gauge anymore, I couldn't kill this battery if I tried (streaming video/audio, screen on time etc etc nothing seems to matter) I have completely stopped carrying a spare batt, something I have done religiously since last October.
It's not for everybody, that's for sure but if you never want to worry about your battery life again this is just the thing.
They're charging an extra $50 for the kick stand. Watching that video reminded of how awfully slow this phone was @ stock.
I love my mugen compared to the oem extended. I have never had a dead phone on the mugen, but i did on the oem extended.
Yesm itvis way to pricey, but the 30% works for me.
Well if this wasn't a smack in the face! This morning I wake up with an email on my phone proclaiming this is now shipping. So a phone that already has a removable battery, with plenty of extra and extended batteries available, is first to the market with a case/battery combo, before a phone that doesn't have a removable battery? Not to mention they also got first dibs on their new waterproof case but that is understandable considering how many Samsung sells. Well needless to say I instantly shot off an email asking if and when they were planning on releasing something for the phones that actually need their product. Waiting for response.
I also seen this and was surprised. I have an S3 and can't for the life of me think why anybody would buy this product. A spare battery is only a few bucks and they are so small and easy to carry. Why would anybody want one if you had the choice?
I can understand it being a popular product for something like the one x or the Iphone that don't have a removable battery but it seems like a stupid idea to me to make this for the S3. They must have a market for it though I suppose.

This is just a result of Samsung's crack marketing, they got this sort of cult following now and that means there's a potential market for useless crap, I wouldn't mind a rechargable case for my lte but on a device with a removable battery it's more of a gimmick to me

at least with a case you wont have to remove the battery to put in another one
a case is not gimmicky for a phone like that imo
While I admit its useful, many of these device families use similar batteries. I loved that I could just toss my evo battery into my 3d and and keep going without having to spend money on an accessory that caters specifically to one device model. When I have upgraded the case will be useless in regards to the new phone, Unless the design is the same which is not very likely
My battery is the best I ever had on a smartphone..
No need for ugly aftermarket batteries or ugly cases with battery that make my beautiful EVO fugly!
I'm good!
Were being left in the dust..... This phone deserves as much attention as anyone else

Sent from my EVO using xda premium
it's not like we can't replace the battery on the 4g lte, you just have to remove some screws but luckily the phone is able to hold itself together without those screws
I currently carry a spare battery around with me like i did with the 3vo and it works great
Not surprised. right after the GS3 came out Trident had all the colors available for the Kraken and iirc the other cases they were planning to offer for that phone. The Evo LTE came out a few months before that and a few months AFTER they made the case for GS3, the ones for the Evo LTE started rolling out.
I can understand the Evo LTE not getting much love because only Sprint has it and its a different form factor than the HOX, but I'm a bit disappointed that the HOX didn't have a battery case by now. I don't actually need one myself as the battery life is sufficient to me but it would be great to have options.
You guys are acting like a bunch of EMO highschoolers. OMG why does the world hate us?
Seriously..... the S3 is a blockbuster phone. Yes, that attracts people to make accessories for it. Who would have thought that people looking to sell things want to have a large market for their products?
In the end... so what? If you can't get a full days charge out of this battery, you are doing something wrong.
Niche phone. Get used to it.

Or I could just carry around my charger and plug it in when the battery gets low....guess you don't get the point of not wanting to carry around a extra battery or charger or battery bank. If I already put my phone in a bulky case for protection, why not also get the added benefit of extra juice, all in one item.
Here is my pet peeve again. Heat.. I love this phone. Best phone I've had so far. The ONE and ONLY thing that is bothering me is how hot it's getting. I've made threads before for other phones asking if the heat is normal but this blows those out of the water lol.
I've come across a couple threads asking about heating issues but there weren't many responses so I'm just curious if this is happening to everyone?
Maybe because of the material it's made out of that we're feeling more heat.
I ask because I have 14 days from today to return it if anything is wrong and I don't wanna go through exchanging phone after phone after phone because they all have quality control issues. If it is indeed unusual for it to be getting so warm then I will have to exchange it. I just can't imagine what it will feel like in 85-90 weather..
Same with my phone. I thought this was kind of abnormal, but the only other smartphone I've had was the Sprint Epic 4G, which I've always used a ginormous case on... so probably couldn't feel the heat as much as using my One naked. I love the cool metal feel when you pick it up immediately, but I HATE the heat. It starts happening after browsing the xda app for like half an hour.

I read that the aluminum on the back is acting as as heatsink. It may not be getting hotter than other phones but it just feels like it is. I'm not sure. I wanna get some more opinions.

Lucky! The heat thing is my ONLY qualm about this particular phone. If there are many others with "cool" phones, I will probably consider swapping it out and seeing if it makes a difference.
Weird. I will test and report back. This would suck in the summer if so.

Aluminum is a great conductor of heat, most heat sinks are made of it. I have a droid DNA which is very similar to this phone and it also gets hot, but I dont feel it as much because of the plastic back but the battery temperature shows about the same levels between the 2 phones.
This phone has 4 cores that are running almost at 2 GHz plus a GPU. And said cores have to refresh over 2 million pixels at 30-60 fps. The phone is gonna get a little warm
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Get an app that monitors the battery temp and see how it compares to other phones.
Just checked my battery temp thru Battery Info app = 31.6c - 88.8f. Seems pretty cool to me.
So far the only time I've noticed my phone getting hot was after laying out in the sun for an hour.
I don't play games on my phone though, I really just use it for web surfing, music, texting and taking pictures.
My GS2 got hotter.. so I haven't been too concerned.
I can search the web or go through this app without it getting anything but warm.... Start gaming though and it gets pretty toasty after 15-20
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I'm completely stock
And run the hell out of thus phone and it doesn't get even 25% as hot as my HOX+ which literally radiates heat makes a great hand warmer in the cold though.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I've been on this app for about an hour and my phone got up to about 98-99 if I held my hand directly over the back of it. If I let it breather a little then it would go to about 91.

I have a Lumia 920 as well as the One, and the Lumia gets similarly warm, it's using a Polycarbonate body too. That said, neither one gets so warm that it's a problem, they pack so much into these small devices now it's a wonder they don't get hotter!
Does anyone on here use the 5300mah extended battery for our phones? Was curious how much bigger it made it feel, how hot it got, yada yada. I tripped over my charging cable while plugged in the phone and does not work.
