[ROM] MinimalX - Motorola Droid X2

Due to recent controversy of this ROM, I have decided to halt development until I get the more important things settled in my life. Mostly finishing up with summer semester. Id also like to give "due" credit to the original devs of tell chinese ROM. I did use their ROM as a base for initial quick release to please X2 users. The files were highly modified to meet our needs, which indeed entitles it to my custom work... but to clear any possible arguments, I'm posting this so it is the first thing you read, and all is fully understood! As for future releases of minimalX, there is not a single trace of the Chinese ROM remaining. After the initial release, I did a system dump and started from scratch, just keeping the ideas of the original ROM and copying over modifications I had made. I hope this clears everything up.
Thanks to all those who have supported my development. This is a little ridiculous that I am having to do this, but I hope this nullifies any arguments of those who are not contributing to X2 development.
Release version GAMMA 3.0 finally released! See below for download. Sorry, I don't have to release details just yet. Edit: Removed for modifications. It didn't seen compatible with others devices.

*Disclaimer* This is a beta build of this ROM. It is mostly stable, but hasn't been thoroughly tested by anyone but myself. I decided to release it publicly due to the lack of current ROMs for users to flash. I expect general feedback based up what is currently in the ROM and what I can do to improve it. For legal reasons, flashing this ROM is based on your own decision, if it causes any mishap with your phone, feel free to message me and I will work with you to fix it, but I am in no way responsible for anything you do.
Not a whole lot of time to type this up -- I plan on editing when I have more time and as the build progresses.
This ROM is mostly debloated. Some bloat is left for general function of the phone. I tried to leave any bloat application that applies function to the phone that is otherwise inaccessible. This makes it an awesome base ROM for anyone who wishes to develop.
There are also many edits to system files such as the build.prop, apks, framework, etc. These edits are mostly performance based enhancements, but there are some visual changes as well. I plan on continuing the theme on this ROM based on user input. I may also consider converting back to stock theme and allowing flashable themes for those who wish to have more options. Themes that have been previously created for the Droid X2 (so far, I believe there are a total of three posted at XDA) should be flashable over top of this ROM, but I am making no guarantees. Also added is a sleep mode (accessed by holding power) which lowers power consumption, and turns off wireless signal -- The device is able to be accessed again by holding power. In general, it allows for maximum battery conservation compared to turning off the device.
TLDR;
Bloat removed
System edits
Framework edits
Much more...
In future updates, I plan on doing what you, the consumer, wants to happen. Firstly, I plan on cooking SuperCharger into the ROM. And hopefully, in the near future, I can figure out how to overclock this beast.
As for performance, this ROM runs great. I average around 3000 in Quadrant and in AnTuTu Benchmark, I average around 4750.
This ROM is optimized for performance, but doesn't lack on functionality. I hope you all can find great use of it and enjoy the work I have done.
Instructions:
Gain SuperUser access by rooting your device via Gingerbreak.apk
Install recovery
Move ROM (.zip) to external SD card
Boot into Recovery using the APK
[optional] Clear Data/ Factory Reset
[optional] Clear Cache
Choose Install .zip from SD
Choose SD card
Navigate to the ROM (.zip)
Confirm install
Reboot once installation is complete
When rom boots, be sure to firstly make your default keyboard something other than "Moto input method" (explained later)
Enjoy!
I plan on adding more detailed instructions at a later date...
Known issues:
User must change keyboard away from "Moto input method." This keyboard was removed from the build, but hasn't had all traces cleared yet. It will not appear due to most of the structure and APK being removed.
Charging battery animation is default
Browser search function is faulty. To fix, please install Google Search from the Android Market.
Please let me know of any additional issues you run into!!!
Otherwise, enjoy your DROID X2!

Lastly, I develop for fun, but if you feel it necessary, donate to the cause.
Actually, we could make this into a fun drinking game. My 21st birthday is August 1st. I plan on getting $**t housed all day and all that weekend. If you donate, before August 6th, your donation funds will go strictly towards alcohol. If you donate, feel free to message me with what you wish for me to purchase with that given cash (note: if you want something specific, please donate that specific amount, otherwise, it'll probably go towards some PBR). I'll try to take pictures of the drinks before and after (depending on how wasted I am) and I'll message those who donated, or anyone who requests, with what kind of damage was done. Haha, I have some experience under my belt, so, don't take it easy. This should be fun.
Happy Android-ing to everyone!
May the Droid X2 prosper!
This post is not subject to perfect grammar; no one really cares. Enjoy the ROM!

Congratulations on the release of the first custom rom for DX2!

Screenshots? I would like to see what visual changes have been made - thanks (and thanks for stepping up to the plate).

Taking screen shots as we spea.... type. There aren't a whole lot of visual changes, just minor ones. They are the last thing I decided to tweak before releasing. I wanted to get it out tonight, so, I stopped editing for the time being to release.
I hope everyone enjoys!
After posting these screens, I'm calling it a night. Any issues will be addressed immediately tomorrow.

Gratz on the first custom rom!!! I can't wait to get my dx2 to get in on the awesomeness of its community!!!
Sent from my soon to be dx2

Updated first post with screenshots. As stated, the development of visual changes is very minimal at the moment. I wanted more input on whether or not the community wanted the default + flashable themes, or it to come already themed.
Thanks!

Sweet! Now I'm starting to not want to switch phones. Flashing this soon. Too bad I wasted time in UOT making a theme cause this BLOWS it out the water

This is a great way to end the day! Downloaded and will be flashing after I make a backup of my current setup... Can anyone confirm if exchange is included and working as I need it for work... Can't be without it...

THANK YOU.

This is awesome! I'll flash right now and try to flash a theme on it. Thanks!

Great Job!!!!!
This is what I've been waiting on. Thanks a million! Now I hope the jumpstarts more roms because i cant wait to get some CM7 action going on the DX2

Has anyone flashed this without wiping data/cache? Just curious, as I did a full wipe and flashed it and none of my apps came back.

Try Titanium backup. It puts all your apps back. (I know, I'm a smart ass)

Durp! Doing it now...

Not wiping data cache breaks quite a few apps. I wouldn't recommendations it.

first off: GREAT JOB to the dev..so far it seems like the DX2 is made for custom roms (being that the stuff moto has put out is ****ty). Thank you for being the first!
my request: Can someone theme this to look like VANILLA android? the things that irk me most about blur are the lock screen (ugly), icons (camera, messaging, etc [also ugly], the status bar (ugly)...im sure im not the only one who feels this way, if someone could be so nice as to make a vanilla theme, i am sure many others like me would greatly appreciate it!! thanks again dev

Im with you.
Although I am satisfied with the performance of the phone as a whole, I would live to get rid of the blur blue and grey and have the stock feel - even if it was only cosmetic for the time being.
The only thing I would definitely keep is the motor keyboard. It really is the best I've used on an android phone so far.

Works great so far and took my custom themes no problem. I do have a bit of a problem now because the calendar app is gone and I ran my biz out of out. Anyone have a good calendar app out there?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App

I like pure colander. Not free though.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk

Got pure calendar but I thinks something on the system level ia missing. Also lost half my contacts because Verizon backup is missing. Ended up restoring. This rom is awesome but I'm not not quite set up for it yet.

Hello everyone. coMOD is a modification designed for users who haven't unlocked their bootloader, but have used the root exploit. It's designed to give you the "custom ROM experience."
This is my first venture into this area, so please don't be too harsh.
I understand if there is no demand for this. If that is the case, I will take appropriate action to have the thread closed.
In short, what is this?
This is not a ROM (in the traditional sense)
Slightly Debloated
Includes extra (what I believe are essential) root-friendly apps
Designed For Users who haven't taken the HTCDev Unlock (it could be used if you have, but use an actual full custom ROM instead)

Great idea! Now those who don't want to 'void' their warranty and give HTC their device information can still enjoy the benefits of custom(ization) ROMs in an all-in-one package.

Cute
That's great. thanks for share.
Thanks for doing this!
I for one, have not installed a custom recovery, so I will be trying this.
You can also throw in the camera.apk with the shutter sound disable option.
This is a cool idea. Assuming it's windows only?
This seems like a great idea for those who haven't unlocked bootloader. But, since they have no custom recovery for getting out of sticky situations, do you see potential for 'sticky situations' . (I'm not familiar with what exactly you've done here)
This is a great idea for some. Clever. Thanks.
Edit: I see in your quick settings you got blue toggles instead of green,...nice

Thanks! I still however recommend using a full custom ROM if you are unlocked. Trust me, you'll enjoy that a lot more.
Absolutely, I can throw in the modified camera. In fact, you can run mod now, and I'll have up a patch that specifically changes the camera later.

Thank you. At the moment, it's Windows-only. I didn't figure that there would be much demand on other platforms (I guess I was wrong). I should be able to throw together a Linux version relatively quickly. Mac OS, is slightly iffy. I think that it would be best for me to stick with the single platform for the time-being (just until I know how much demand there is for this project).
I apologize,

Thanks scottspa74! I don't foresee the no-custom recovery part being a large problem. I recommend rerunning the RUU if someone wants to return the phone back to a stock state. I know that this is less than ideal, but it's really the only thing that I can think of that would work right off the top of my head. Now, due to the way I built this version of the mod, nothing is actually completely removed -- it's "frozen" in a way. It's a little bit sloppy, but I'm looking to keep safety first, then when I know that everything is okay, I'll release a version that actually removes the old stuff. I strive to make sure that the things that I release aren't inherently broken. If something I release renders the phone unusable, then I haven't done my job. I will pull my download, fix the problem, and release a new version.
I will stress however, this is no substitute for a fully bootloader-unlocked phone with custom recovery and a custom ROM. It's simply designed to give stock-rooted users that taste of custom ROM "goodness" without fear of voiding warranties (everything I have read has pointed to HTC's Unlock not causing any problems with returning the phone to Sprint for repair; still, I'm trying to ease some minds by providing this as a temporary alternative).
Thanks,
~co~
Edit: I can't really take credit for the blue toggles (or any of these other wonderful mods). They happen to be a result of applying one of the HTC Themes. Happily, theme coloring does work.
I have added the Camera APK with sound toggle to the second post of the thread.
Thank you to SteelH and flex360 for this!

I am unlocked so I won't be using this, but I just wanted to say that this is a really great idea! I see it as a nice stepping stone for those that are not quite ready to commit to the idea of unlocking. They can test the waters, so to speak.
Great job, and thanks for another great contribution to the community.

I do want to stress, just for the record, the mods included in this package were created by some wonderful developers, and cannot take credit for their work. I've just been experimenting with a way to get their work into the stock ROM so that (in theory) more people can enjoy their work.
That being said, if anybody has used this, please let me know. If you don't have enough posts to comment, feel free to private message me. I can't guarantee a response, but I'll try.

This WAS a ICS De-Sensed Rom based off of the latest ICS Global OTA. It is now however based off of my latest INFECTION 2.5 CM 4.2.2 rom
This was created because XDA member localceleb wanted a rom to use JUST for tethering yet still needed to be able to make callls, receive texts, and surf the web.
THAT'S IT.
This rom would be best suited as a bootmanager/side load rom to be used simply for tethering (but still able to receive calls and messages just in case someone needs to get a hold of you!)
Please note... There is NOTHING left in this rom. This is not built for practical everyday use! So do not expect a whole lot of support for it. It was designed as bare as possible for tethering purposes.
If you don't agree with me then you will die.
For you tweakers out there that want to build a rom (FOR YOURSELF, NOT FOR POSTING on the forums) this rom is a perfect base for you to add in the missing elements you miss. Just grab a cm-10.1 build of the latest Global and have at it with 7zip.
Miss having a calendar? pull Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk from it and drop it into the same folder of your base rom. Done. same goes for most apps you're missing.
Additionally, I have done a few tweaking to this rom for battery life and network speed.

THANK YOU
I wanted to take a moment to Thank all those who have donated since I've started pushing roms for the rez a few months ago. I also appreciate the many of you who have spent their time answering several of the questions within my threads that have literally saved me LOTS of time from having to do it myself even though I try to stay as active as I can with the questions in all my threads. You guys rock!
I have modified the OP to reflect those donators as I feel they should be recognized. If you see your name in the list and it is NOT your xda id, please by all means pm me with your member id and I will correct the op in all 8 of my threads.

Missing?
Where is Neo?
Where has he gone?
Has someone kidnapped him?
No.. He's simply been focusing on work while at work
I've been away due to recent illnesses, a feared brick tablet that I now have running in prime condition once again, and lots of busy projects/busy non android related work.
Tomorrow I will have an Android day but I can't guarantee release of anything or whatever.. but it will be my android day
I've decided that after the release of the NeoMAX and Adrenaline sense-less updates and possibly (but not likely) updates to Sense roms Simplistic and INJECTION, that I will be going on an indefinite hiatus for continued development to those roms. Furthermore, I will be releasing roms less frequently to ICS AOSP version roms RAGE and AOKP (but not pausing development)
My primary focus on both the roms and in thread help will be more towards Jelly Bean development ie INFECTION, TRON-Umbrella, & TRON although I will be tending to RAGE ics from time to time as I consider it to be the most stable of all my aosp work (we all need a little stability form time to time).
There will however be an update between tomorrow and next week for RAGE as I realized in my ill state at the time that I'd left out a few key mods that were present in other versions which left me kicking myself for not remembering them. Thus, 1.9.7 will be born soon.
I'll keep you guys updated on my progress and let you know what I'm up to when the time comes. I just wanted you all to know that I'm confirming a shift of focus to those 4 roms and any cutting edge development.

I wish I could hack the webcams of all the folks who said we don't have competent developers for the E970 when they figure out what ignorant f*cknuggets they are. Like my nerdy ass is going to buy a phone that isn't going to get ridiculously awesome AOSP within a reasonable amount of time, ha ha ha ha!
Man, I wonder how all those dudes who ditched their OGs feel. BTW this runs GREAT. The screens in OP are mine.
Much thanks to all of the developers of the E970 for sharing their talent and work! I try not to post much - still a noob with nothing to add toward development so don't want to take up space - but with all of the recent work added, simply wanted to say thank you.
I still have never flashed a ROM (ever); it's not that the ICS development was not interesting, I simply wanted to spend additional time educating myself first. With AOSP, AOKP, and now CM, time for me to step-up my reading!! I'm rooted, unlocked, have my nandroid, and almost ready to go - though do need the GPS working as I can't live without it.
BTW, great, in-context use of the word f*cknuggets, Deathmonkey!

The best way to educate yourself about these things is to flash and play with them. Seriously, make sure you have a good backup, and then flash to your heart's content. Flashing a ROM and then flashing back to your good recovery each take a few minutes a piece. It's easy.
Sweetttt!! :victory: , will themes from playstore work with this rom?
Downloading now and excited to flash. Had problems with Codefire SR15, the power button caused a system crash. Hopefully that won't happen on this!

Thanks, Digil! Though I have not done it, I agree nonetheless. I knew I'd want to take advantage of all this phone (and developers) have to offer, so rooted and unlocked when I got it in December (thanks to Carret's instructions!) without issue. I have TWRP installed and did my first nandroid (though will do another to make sure I did it right, as mine was a bit large @ 3GB). Confident I can flash a rom, though not certain I did the nandroid right and want to make sure. I'm in sales and travel out of town quite a bit, so really need GPS working, so have simply been enjoying seeing the work, reading the comments, and trying to get better versed (after the wife and kids go to bed). Unlike many, I still do 1000-1500 minutes of calls a month, so needed to see the volume working as well.
I seem to be a pretty old fart by xda standards - 44, though still a heavy metal punk at heart (hair metal guitarist and singer back in the 80's). Though I love technology, I'm not as up to speed as most on these forums, so am taking it slower than I probably need.
yes finally we can get some good cm action going

lennyquai, I definitely feel you about wanting to take it slow, and do your research first. In fact, I think XDA (and hell, probably the world in general) would be much better off if everyone took that approach. We seem to have some awesome devs here, so I know when you eventually do decide to start flashing some ROMs you won't be disappointed. Good luck! See you around.
Btw, thanks to Shelnutt for putting this up, and all your work. Can't wait to try it out after work tonight!

I got you by almost decade... But the kids in here are pretty tolerant of old farts.
I'll caution you that once you start flashing roms you'll get addicted and flash everything that comes out. Titanium Back Up Pro is more than worth the cost. You can not only back up then restore apps (incl data), but once your downloaded apps are restored, you can restore the data for the launcher, which automatically setups up your home screens (be sure to do a full back up of apps, before you start flashing).

Has anyone had problems with data not working randomly? Chrome would just sit there.....
Edit: I noticed when my data wasn't working it was showing H, Now even though it's toggling thru all types of data it's working. Not sure if it was because disconnecting from wifi or what but all seems ok now.

Has anyone been able to find the "Enable USB Debugging" setting (I get a message to change it, whenever I use TiBu)? Usually its under the System section in the Developer settings. I don't find Developer settings and I think that I've been through every setting and haven't found it.

Starting with 4.1 I believe, Google made it so you have to go to "About Device" under settings, then tap the "Build number" location seven times. A toast notification will show up when you start tapping telling you how many more taps you have to go. Developer settings will then show up in the "Settings" menu. Why they hid it like an easter egg is beyond me.
Edit: Dang Shelnutt2 beat me to it.

I'm sure users here would be glad to help you if they knew what you're talking about, I.e. the notification drop down? Phone settings? how did you install it, etc. You should probably post your question in the Rom thread...
Edit: others reported settings issues, the Rom has been pulled for now.
That's because those Settings were originally modified to work on UnSenseROM and need to be modified to work by default on any other roms made from the new base.
I know Jester added a couple things, but that alone won't make them compatible on first flash of the rom.
I have been in the process of reworking them for my update to UnSense and am just about complete with that.
If he does not get them working before then, due to using my old settings, you may be able to first install the rom with Sense settings.
Then reboot once, then return to recovery and then flash his separate zip for the aosp settings and SystemUI and then clear cache and dalvik and reboot.
But those things need to be modified to work on first boot if they are gonna be cooked into his rom.
I have already reworked SystemUI for my desensed roms and as I said am almost done with Settings, so they will work upon initial rom flash.

Yea what he said lol. Wish i could do more but I'm already a blind man running around here with nothing to look at to be sure if it does work or not. I r-uploaded it as a fixed version.
Yo santod add me on gtalk man, Did you ever get your sense settings or anything to decompile? They spit errors at me all day long
I'm sure you'll get it all working.
Jested, do you still not have a Thunderbolt? I'll send off my old one to you--the only problem is my aunt dropped it in water in Sedona, and now the rear camera doesn't focus, and the screen has some artifacts when on an all-white screen that you can see. I don't want anything for it--would be ecstatic to be able to help you out in any way. And Santod/Jester: Love your debloated/ICE ICE BABY ROMs, respectively!
Jest my friend's GF use to have a TB. I can see what she did with it.

Jest, it was smooth as silk. I'm sure if you had a bolt, you would have made it rock solid.
Appreciate you!
Without starting a new thread, I am having major issues with this rom, I keep getting random reboots right after installing.
I checked the MD5 sum and it was correct, I used the 4EXT recovery, I formatted eery partition except SD card, and wiped data+ dalvik, and formatted cache nothing fixes it.
I get blue vertical lines on the reboot and the phone either reboots, or the screen goes black and the "house, menu, back and magnifying glass" stay lit up
any help?

Well so I it seems this is the end of TB development on this form, unless HTC releases the ICS kernel source, who know when that'll..if ever.

You know what, let me tell you a few things, maybe you will listen.
I happen to be a human just like everyone else that visits these public forums.
I am a single parent of a couple children and work very hard for everything that comes to me.
I did not and do not have to share anything I spend my few spare minutes doing with anyone.
When the ICS OTA came out, the only active developers for the Thunderbolt, were Twisted and myself.
I made sure that the very next day after the OTA was available to anyone unrooted via VZW, that I had not only one version of the stock rom rooted and ready for download in it's entirety, but 4 versions to pick from, of yes, a clean stock rom.
What you would get from Verizon, but rooted and ready for consumption.
I stayed up that entire night getting all that together and ready for every Thunderbolt user, everywhere.
I didn't have to, I wanted to and did and gladly shared it with everyone.
I also have made many and publicly posted and shared 5 custom roms, 4 of which are directly based off the stable OTA.
Is it fair that other devs should not have to do the same work to make their roms? Maybe, maybe not.
That's not the issue either. To me in this small world, we have a few things left to call our very own.
One being self respect and if I allow someone to continue using my hard work, meanwhile talking down about me, I should not sit on my hands and ignore it.
I actually tried that and I saw it continue regardless.
The fact that my base was being used wasn't good enough for some, they also wanted to use mods that I had spent other numerous hours working on that I did not have to or did I have to share in my own roms at all.
But since I had publicly shared them in my roms, somehow that should entitle anyone to use them in their own?
(Advanced Power Menu Mod)Hounded for over and over as an example. That only includes my entire framework
Because I was not willing to have them duplicate my own public roms, they lashed out at me.
They publicly talked about me in ways I did not like or care for and was not ok with the way they carried on about it, as if I owed them more.
I was doing nothing and still am doing nothing to anyone and just want to be left out of those types of "projects" completely.
That is all, is that wrong of me?
Should I have never posted the 9 roms I have posted?
I'm so sorry I shared anything then.......
Move on, let them do the same if they are so capable, that's great! :good:
But leave me be and out of it.
I have nothing to do with anyone else making or not making a rom.
A dev can make a base and a rom anytime they want.
If you hadn't noticed, we have few left if any.
Let the devs decide if they want to make roms.
If they want to, they will.
Crying about it doesn't make me want to do more and likely doesn't make any others want to do more.
It was crying that got us all here.
So please refrain from including me in any further posts of yours unless you are sending me a PM. Thanks!
As far as only having a 5 post account and "not contributing when you can", I believe you.
^ word. I can respect that.

Well i do respect you santod.. And i never begged for any mod. The Restart menu is based on android.policy.jar and stuff anyways theres tutorials but nothing for sense 3.6... I never asked for an entire menu or any other mod of sort, even said maybe a tutorial of how you did it for the bolt and you take the credit for that. That's all i have ever asked you about anyways... Don't know what anyone else has asked you.. But as i told everyone before i only did mine that way because well, please excuse me while i pull a base off a phone that has no screen...

[ROM] [KK] [UNOFFICIAL] CarbonRom for the SGH-I777/SGH-959G

YOU HAVE NOW BEEN CARBONIZED
Built from the Carbon source, these unofficial builds will be updated weekly. Maybe more if time permits or there are any huge changes to be incorporated. Built specifically for our devices, no ports here anymore. This should allow it to run a bit better than a rom that was technically built for another device.
And now, on with the show!

***NOW BUILT WITH ArchiDroid OPTIMIZATION STARTING 11/07***
Many thanks to @JustArchi for his commit regarding optimizations in Android builds. What are these optimizations? Check out THIS THREAD for more details on what this entails. In most basic terms, this optimizes code within the build a lot more than the traditional flags set by the code I build from. You may not see a doubled AnTuTu score, or doubled battery life. But this provides a lot more stability and smoothness than simply using the Sabermod toolchain that is also included in these builds. So props to him for this commit. Go give the man some thanks!
Special Thanks
Let me do this first and foremost before moving on with the downloads and installation instructions. This would not be possible without the help and guidance of a few other talented builders here in our community, and without the help of those who tested this before it was posted.
Thanks to @rogersb11 and @cyril279 for helping me out along the way. Their guidance and support have been most beneficial, and without that help, this thread wouldn't be here. So if you thank me, be sure to thank them too!
Thanks to the entire Carbon Team for the hard work they put into building such an amazing AOSP rom.
Thanks to my testers, @cyril279, @edwin270, @rogersb11 and @dsteele for being brave enough to be the first people outside of myself to take this new build for a spin.
To anyone else who has helped me along the way in my Android experience and journey from noob to only partially, just a bit of a noob. Your guidance and support has been appreciated more than you could know.
Download and Installation Instructions
As always, neither I, nor the people thanked in this thread, nor your neighbor are responsible for anything that may happen to your device including, but certainly not limited to: Soft Brick, Hard Brick, Exploding Batteries, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, raining porcupines, or male patterned baldness.
**IMPORTANT: If you are coming from ICS or JB, you MUST upgrade your recovery BEFORE flashing this rom. See below for compatible recoveries**
CWM - 6.0.4.4+
TWRP - 2.6.3.0+
For SGH-S959G
CWM - 6.0.4.5 from here
TWRP - 2.6.3.0 from here
1) Download the latest build from here (Current Build: 12/08 ). Older builds can be found here.
2) Download the Gapps pack of your choice. (I personally use Slim Minimal 4.4.4 which you can find here). But feel free to use whichever Gapps package you prefer.
3) FULL WIPE if coming from any other rom. If updating, wipe cache/dalvic before flashing, unless stated to do a full wipe.
4) Flash the ROM package
5) Flash Gapps package of your choice
6) (Optional) Reboot recovery, wipe dalvic/cache. (Recommended if you are coming from a custom kernel build.
7) Reboot device and enjoy the goodness.
SPECIAL NOTES
This will flash with the stock CM kernel with CWM Recovery, which many people find a little laggy. There are custom kernels in the forums that you can flash after the rom if you want more control, performance, stability, etc.
This is built straight from the source code found on the CarbonDev Github. The only things that have been changed are the removal of CarbonDelta and ROM Stats. Since these are unofficial builds, not supported by the Carbon team, these two apps really serve us no purpose. All updates will need to be flashed through recovery.
All bugs or questions should be reported to THIS THREAD ONLY. Do not send questions to the Carbon Team as this is not an officially supported device anymore. So don't bother them. Bother me instead.
For general CarbonRom questions, check out the FAQ.
That's all I have for now. If you enjoy this rom, please hit that thanks button and inflate my ego a little bit.
Happy flashing!

OK, I don't have a BT device, but almost everything seems very smooth and functional. USB connections/transfers seem fine, and mobile data almost seems fine. I can download web content in the browser, but never could get the playstore to download any apps. It pulled up and went through the steps to say it was downloading, but the app never actually got pulled down.
Pretty good stuff to this point though...
Also, it didn't set up my google account when I was setting it up, that's usually an included step. I didn't realize it til I opened the Play Store and then it went through the Google setup.
Edit: rebooted and a playstore download started up... it just seems a little finicky about beginning to pull. I don't have full signal at home, but was getting 3 of 4 bars most of the time.
That sounds more like just a bum install of Gapps. Especially if it didn't ask for Google Account right off the bat. I've had that happen before. Usually not a rom or Gapps package issue, but just something hanging in the flashing process.
Glad to hear everything else went fine. I'll do another fresh install on mine in the morning and see if the same issue crops up.

For network I am always on 2g unless i do want to use the phone data( which i mostly never use, always on wifi). Sure 3g signal is not so strong from within your room.
When done with rom flash, I made it boot first. Then went ahead to set it up without google account, when back to recovery and flashed gapps.
Finally, after changing to "art" runtime I launched playstore then did setup my google account.
So far, so good............just about to pull my battery stat, to be sure it last as it should be. All my apps are running great so far.
NOTE: be sure to wipe/factory reset 3 times. Since previous gapps could be left untouched. I again make sure i wipe data, cache, dalvik cache again respectively, so to be certain.
Let me know how the battery stats look. I haven't really tested that, but mine is running with the RB11-Shift kernel so it would be different than if I had the stock kernel with it.

Well, baking overnight and possibly stronger signal downtown seems to have cured whatever mobile data issue I was having. I've done a couple of d/l's here at work, and it jumped on them fairly quickly, and the transfer rate seemed in line with what I normally get.
Did they include Heads-up?

Had I decent amount of random screen lighting up lol. I have a logger running now so we'll see what happens. Other than that I've been pushing this thing

Yeah!, heads up is included though there is no "personal" settings for it anywhere. To enable pull down the notification drawer look at the top right. The first icon before the tiles icon.
Working perfect even for non-intrusive calls here.

You can disable it for specific apps from Settings>Apps ... Go over to all apps. Select the app you want to disable it on, select blacklist, and select blacklist from hover.

I've noticed that with Carbon on my S3 too. Let me know if the logger turns up anything helpful and I'll do some research and see what I can do for it. I'll be running another build off on Friday.

Hmmmm............how come i have never seen anything of such.
Guess must be the lockscreen notification stuff, i reconfigured mine to turn on only when i have a notification, by default it is on and guess that has a sure trigger..............just my thought.
Have no screen issue. Even turn off screen animation is disabled

Pocket mode is a lot of what's behind it I think. Using the proximity sensor and turning the screen on. I disable it right off the bat.

Perhaps I should change up the OP and second post and leave a list of features and such? For granted, the link in the current OP will take you to the Carbon website where it's all listed.
It didn't hit me until I messaged you about the pocket mode. It took me a while after first porting it to realize what was going on. By habit now I always automatically disable it right off the bat when I flash it.
I'm going to be running off a build tonight that, if everything goes as it should, means the ROM will be built with Sabermod toolchain. Thanks to @rogersb11 once again for helping me get the necessary changes done to be sure it's going to build right. I'll test it on my own device tomorrow and if all is good I'll post it up sometime tomorrow afternoon.
