Ok I did a search and didn't find any thing. First, how can I clear the defaults for certain actions on my thunderbolt?
Also, is it possible to not use the included launcher with roms like gingerbean? I don't want to use sense but I don't want to use launcher products or adw either.
Thanks
To clear defaults go to settings, applications, manage applications. Under all applications select the app you want, it will then give you the option to clear default.
You can use any launcher you want on pretty much any rom. ADW and Launcher Pro are favorites.
Thanks for the clear default info. What if the rom comes with launcher pro? How can I not use it? Like I don't want to use a different launcher over top. Is that possible?
Yes. Download a new launcher I would then use titanium backup to convert it to a system application. You can then use titanium backup to freeze or uninstall the launcher you don't want to use.

That worked perfectly. Thanks

Dear all,
I love the way LG stock rom devides apps in to default ones and Downloads. Moreover, it allows creating new categories to better organize apps. However, no custom rom (void, prime, lol,...) has this useful ability.
Do u know how to get this? Which app can help with the same need?
The LG Home app recognizes 2 categories by default, but additional categories may be added. And ones from the first category can be moved to the second and so on. The only thing special about the "APPLICATIONS" category in the stock launcher includes all apps from the /system/app/ directory.
With Zeam, GO, ADW, Panda, Better Home and LauncherPro (I don't know of other launchers...) it is possible to create categories and organise apps the same way as in the stock home app. But system apps are by default not seperate from the user applications in the app drawer.
If you want the stock launcher app, just copy it from your stock ROM - "/system/app/LGHome.apk". Then you are free to place it on any ROM of your choice (Simply install the package or copy it to the /system/app/ directory).

How do you do this? I've been using LP Plus for 2 weeks and I've pretty much gone through all the possible settings from the preference page and I couldn't find anything about it there.

i would like to know this too so i can create category for my downloaded apps and preinstalled apps
Many launchers come with this function. Just try them. If you have an Android phone and you haven't yet tried all the launchers, it's weird. I bet 99% people have tried all launchers.

Yeah, I find no option to do this
Currently running Bionix 1.3.
I do know about Titanium Backup backing up and restoring apps.
Is there an app that can restore your "desktop"? When I flash a new ROM, I have to redo my "desktop".
Thanks for the info.
As far as I'm aware this is only partially possible. Third party launchers like ADW Ex for instance, allow you to save settings, and this includes icon positions. What will not be restored properly are Widgets, and as I understand it this is an Android limitation.
On the flip side, I've grown so accustomed to flashing new roms I can now recreate my homescreen layout in a couple of minutes. Practice makes perfect?
ADW/LP all have desktop "restore" in their settings menu.
If you wanna save/restore the gblauncher/desktop from the Bionix defaults.
Use the option in the SGSTools App.

I am interested in this ability also. I assume you are talking about the SGS Tools program. I am d/l it right now. I'll let you know if it works.
I'm running Bionix v.
OK, It does NOT backup the settings from the ASOP Launcher.
Is there a program or a way that does backup/restore the ASOP launcher desktops.
i love the go launcher but also love Sense 3.0 on the evo3d. is it possible to have sense 3.0 on one homescreen and have go launcher on all others?
Or maybe it is possible to combine it?
thanks.
No. I very seriously doubt that there is a way to combine launchers
Bang.... That's the sound of my shooter.
But it is possible to use them on two different homescreens right?
As long as you don't pick one for default you always have the choice to pick go or sense when you hit the home key.
I know this is old but
Is there a way to unpick one of them as your defualt after you do that? without uninstalling GoLauncher and reinstalling it?
u can go to settings applications then manage apps and go to th launcher u defaulted and should have a clear defaults option.
or download home switcher from market.
Is there any app/homescreen replacement where I can save different homescreen setups? I'm using ADW EX. yes I can save ONE setup, but i want to save them like a theme. More than one. Switch them fast etc.
Or is there a easy way to make themes in adw? I'm not a coder, so easy = easy

it seems to be basic... but I dont find any solution
saving the adw backup file without root, is that possible?
Try launcher pro with backup option.. but it won't restore widget.

My phone cones default with above launcher. I just changed to go launcher ex and wanted to remove tw . My phone is roots. Can someone guide me on the removal? I tried holding onto the icon but the "x" does not appear. Thanks

you can download root uninstaller from market and find the twlauncher, and remove it
i wouldnt do it tho, in case your go launcher fails you will lack a launcher to do stuff
you can also delete the tw launcher using root explorer.just navigate to system/app
But as you have been warned delete TW launcher and not replace it phone cannot load .

As JJE has pointed out, removing TW is fraught with danger.
If you really don't like it the best thing to do is install a launcher you do like then freeze the stock launcher in Ti or similar. This way your launcher of choice will be the default. Also bear in mind you can't completely get rid of TW, it is very much baked into your rom and its services are always running in the background/the launcher you use runs on top of it.
I also use GoEx & have the default Miui launcher frozen in Ti. I don't recommend removing anything to do with the stock launcher.
Go launcher allows you to make it your default launcher when setting it up so there's no need to mess with removing tw.

Or flash a rom that doesn;t use TW - like Illusion - go launcher as standard
I have about three launchers in the system / apps folder and use home switcher to change but only really use TW .

I have already made go launcher ex as default. But once a while when I kick on the centre button, the same prompter will appear asking me to choose btw go launcher and tw launcher. Everyttime I tick the box and make go.launcher the default, the prompter will appear again.
That's why I am thinking of removing it altogether. Or perhaps Bro/sis know how to solve the jnial problem?
Have you changed default through go launcher settings as well? because I'm using it and never have that problem. Maybe try clearing defaults in application management for go launcher too.

OK. Because I'm an all round good guy, I'll repeat this for the 2nd time.
Get Titanium Pro from the Market (or Gemini if you don't want to pay, or several other apps that can freeze apps), and freeze the stock launcher. I have done this in Miui and am using GoEx as my default launcher without having to tick any boxes or without the stock launcher prompting me or appearing out of nowhere.
